Trevor Lawrence Signs Endorsement Deal With Adidas

Trevor Lawrence will be drafted into the NFL tonight and in the eyes of many, he should be the first overall pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to have that selection and it’s clear that they are in need of a franchise quarterback with Lawrence’s skillset. As for Lawrence himself, he has been looking to sign as many endorsement deals as possible as a way to up his profile and become a household name.

Lawrence recently signed with Blockfolio which is a cryptocurrency app devoted to tracking crypto investments. Now, Lawrence has signed with a more traditional brand as he will be joining the three stripes.

“I’ve always been a fan of Adidas and I’m excited to join the team as I take the next step in my career,” Lawrence said via Sole Collector. “Adidas’ brand attitude of ‘Impossible Is Nothing’ is a message that really resonates with me both on and off the field. We are building for the future and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead with this partnership.”

Adidas has a ton of great athletes on their roster and Lawrence will be yet another. Patrick Mahomes is perhaps the biggest quarterback signed to Adidas and with Lawrence on board, there is no denying that have one of the strongest athlete rosters in all of football.

Rod Wave Covers Drake’s “Over My Dead Body” For NPR Tiny Desk Performance

In March, Florida artist and 2020 XXL Freshman Rod Wave proved his reach in the music industry by dropping the chart-topping album SoulFly. Housing fan-favorite songs like “Tombstone” and “Streetrunner,” Rod Wave’s latest album outperformed initial sales projections and moved 130,000 album-equivalent units during its first week.

Since SoulFly‘s release, Rod Wave has revealed that he was originally supposed to be on Drake and Rick Ross’ “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” and also delivered a moving performance of “Tombstone” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Now, NPR has released the Pray 4 Love artist’s NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert, for which he enlisted the talents of a fully decked-out band.

Backed by a saxophone, flute, bass, drum, and piano, Rod Wave kicks off his set by performing “OMDB” and covering the iconic intro to Drake‘s Take Care opener “Over My Dead Body.” He then takes a quick break after finishing up the song and subsequently talks about the sheer amount of hard work and effort that he put into SoulFly.

“I put a lot into this album. I feel like, personally, I hit my creative peak,” Rod Wave reveals. “I put a lot into this — a lot of thought, a lot of effort, a lot of pain.”

Elsewhere in his Tiny Desk set, Rod Wave knocks out performances of other well-received SoulFly cuts like “Streetrunner” and “Don’t Forget,” and fans of the St. Petersburg artist will also be joyed to hear that he reaches further back in his catalog to perform a stripped rendition of “Rags2Riches.”

T-Pain Outs Himself For Accidentally Ghosting Hundreds Of Celebrities In His Instagram DMs

With the proliferation of social media, it’s now easier than ever for fans to to interact with their favorite celebrities online — unless it’s T-Pain, apparently. The musician admitted that he just found out there’s a “requests” folder for Instagram messages, and he’s been accidentally ignoring celebrities’ DMs for over two years.

T-Pain shared a video of him owning up to the mistake on TikTok. “I swear!! I’m just now seeing all these messages and mentions TODAY!!!!,” he wrote in the caption. “How do I super apologize? Press conference? Town hall meeting? I’m dumb.”

The video shows a clip of T-Pain’s face as he scrolls through the hundreds of unread messages in his request folder from blue check accounts. There are messages from musicians like Diplo, Fergie, and YBN Nahmir. He also missed DMs from other celebrities like Viola Davis and Karl-Anthony Towns, as well as major brands like ESPN.

In the clip’s voice-over, T-Pain explains the situation. “I was today years old when i found out about the request folder on Instagram that’s full of celebs trying to reach me,” it reads. “Dude is that Fergie?! smh. I’ve been accidentally straight up ignoring all these people for like 2 years. I thought DM’s are supposed to just show up in the normal folder and you dont have to go digging for all these. I apologize to everyone on this list and the hundreds of others I couldn’t fit in this video. These are just the ones I haven’t checked and replied to. Yup……. I’m stupid.”

Gucci Mane Announces The Release Date Of Surprise Album, ‘Ice Daddy’

Last year, Gucci Mane introduced the world to the roster of his record label, The New 1017, with the So Icy Gang Vol. 1 compilation, foregoing a new album release for himself for the first time since 2016. While that time wasn’t exactly lost — So Icy Gang Vol. 1 slingshot group members Foogiano and Pooh Shiesty into stardom — Gucci’s making up for anyway, announcing the surprise release of his first solo full-length since 2019, Ice Daddy. The project is apparently named in honor of the recent birth of Gucci’s son with Keyshia Ka’oir, who appears on the project’s cover and is listed as executive producer.

Although Gucci didn’t release a solo project in 2020, he was far from idle. Not only did he write a new book, The Gucci Mane Guide To Greatness, he also guest-starred on a number of tracks from up-and-coming artists, lending them his coveted cosign, including Mulatto (“Muwop“), Rico Nasty (“Don’t Like Me” with Don Toliver), and Lakeyah (“Poppin“), as well as his own artists, Big Scarr (“Ballin’ In LA“) and Pooh Shiesty (“Ugly“). He also patched things up (sorta) with his former rival, Jeezy, in a Verzuz battle that saw them perform their hit “So Icy,” for the first time in a decade.

Ice Daddy is due 4/30 on The New 1017 / Atlantic. Get it here.

Gucci Mane is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Burna Boy Drops Off New Single “Kilometre”

Burna Boy cannot be stopped. Today, the self-declared African Giant has come through to deliver his new single “Kilometer,” hitting up Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to open up about what’s to come. “I’m definitely planning to drop my next album this year,” he teases. “Especially, at the same time I dropped the last one. I’m trying to do that as long as I can.” For some context, his most recent studio album Twice As Tall arrived last August, which seems to indicate a summer release.

As for the song itself, Burna reflects as follows: “It’s really me talking about how far I’ve come. I’ve come a long way. At the same time, just having fun with it. When the song drops, start running around, wherever you go. Just start running around. It doesn’t need an explanation.” The free-spirited feel comes alive through music, over which Burna catches a vibey pocket and never lets up. In fact, expect this one to gain new life on the dancefloor, as Burna himself can attest first hand. “I actually took it to the club,” he reveals. “I actually tried to visit the club back here [in Ghana]. We got one.”

Check out “Kilometre” now, and sound off if you’re excited for a new album from Burna Boy.

Quotable Lyrics:

I thought that I was special
You made me feel
Like it was my fault you were the devil

Lost your appeal
Does it keep you in control?
For you to keep her in a cage?
And you swear you didn’t know
You said you thought she was your age

FDA To Ban Backwoods & Menthol Cigarettes

If you’re an avid blunt smoker, you’ll want to read this because, as announced on Thurday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it will be banning menthol-flavored cigarettes and all flavored cigars within the year. That means that your beloved Backwoods (or any other flavored cigar brand that you prefer) will likely be removed from your local convenience store in the coming months.

The move to ban flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes, including Newports, continues the FDA’s efforts to stop marketing harmful flavored products to the youth. Flavored e-cigarette pods, grape, vanilla, and honey Backwoods, and menthol cigarettes have proven to be popular with younger consumers, so the FDA is deciding to put a full halt on the sale of said products.

“Banning menthol—the last allowable flavor—in cigarettes and banning all flavors in cigars will help save lives, particularly among those disproportionately affected by these deadly products,” said Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock, M.D. “With these actions, the FDA will help significantly reduce youth initiation, increase the chances of smoking cessation among current smokers, and address health disparities experienced by communities of color, low-income populations, and LGBTQ+ individuals, all of whom are far more likely to use these tobacco products. Together, these actions represent powerful, science-based approaches that will have an extraordinary public health impact. Armed with strong scientific evidence, and with full support from the Administration, we believe these actions will launch us on a trajectory toward ending tobacco-related disease and death in the U.S.”

Meek Mill Issues A Warning To His Fellow Rappers

Three years have passed since Pusha T infamously declared that the summer of 2018 to be a “Surgical Summer,” and we all know how that ended. Now, Meek Mill appears to be taking a similar approach, as he has recently announced that he will be taking over Hip-Hop in the coming months.

Meek hasn’t dropped a full-length project since his fourth studio album Championships in 2018, so one can only assume that the MMG artist is officially gearing up to take over the summer with a brand new album. Regardless of what Meek is about to drop, one of his most recent tweets proves that the Philadelphia artist is hungrier than ever.

With one simple phrase and a diamond emoji, Meek Mill has put the entire rap game on notice, saying, “This summer ima terrorize this rap shit.”

In addition to his proclamation on Twitter, Meek has also shared a snippet of an as-of-yet unheard freestyle over Drake and Rick Ross’ “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” which he has teased will arrive on Friday. Other than that, Meek hasn’t revealed any more information as to what is slated to follow after the highly anticipated freestyle, but the Philadelphia rapper definitely seems confident right about now.

Are you excited for whatever Meek Mill has planned for this summer?
