He’s often paraded as being a rapper, but Yung Bleu is here to take over the R&B game. The Alabama artist was already buzzing in the industry, but after Bleu was able to snag a Drake feature for the remix of his “Your Mines Still” single, the spotlight has stayed on the 27-year-old star. With an Instagram handle like “BleuVandross”, it’s clear that the singer-rapper intends to occupy multiple genre lanes, and he has something to say about R&B.

He took to Triller to show off his skills while adding a thought about the current R&B scene.

“I’m saving r&b n*ggas lyrics dnt hit this deep no more ..just wait on it,” he wrote in the caption. His fans co-signed his sentiment, however, others weren’t so sure. After The Neighborhood Talk reposted the clip, R&B veteran Tank weighed in with his opinion.

“You gotta let this generation sing their r&b the way they feel it,” Tank commented. “The rhythm always changes and the blues is personal so no one can tell you how to create your art. ‘Real’ is what’s true to you. That kid @bleuvandross is dope and he has the support of a person who’s been doing it successfully for over 20 years! R&B MONEY!”

If there’s shade to be thrown, Wendy Williams will find a tree, but Erica Mena proved that she doesn’t mess around when it comes to clapping back. Just a day after Mena addressed the negativity she’d received since announcing that she and husband Safaree Samuels were expecting Baby No. 2, she had a few words for Williams. It’s a joyous time for the reality star couple, especially following a rocky patch that was displayed on social media.

“Granted, there’s been mistakes made, immaturely, but a marriage is a marriage,” she said of her relationship with Safaree. “And unfortunately, there’s been mishaps. In any marriage, sh*t happens. When you’re in the public eye, my husband and I have both realized that things should be kept in.” Williams took a moment to address the controversy on her talk show. 

“We’re not trying to do anything, you’re the one putting it out there, Erica,” said Williams. “You and Safaree. I don’t really know you much Erica, but I do know Safaree enough and you all need to stop fighting and threatening divorce so much. And you all need to grow up and grow into being parents and if you’re not gonna wanna be married, then get a divorce and co-parent.”

“And babies don’t save marriages, but good luck, at least your first, six months,” she added. “Good luck.” Mena was made aware of Williams’s comments and returned with a scathing since-deleted tweet.

Gucci Mane may not appreciate this one. DJ Akademiks has often weighed in on the relationships and careers of rappers, especially over on his Twitch channel where he’s not censored by partnerships or deals. The blogger recently kicked up dust after he addressed Gucci and wife Keyshia Ka’Oir’s relationship, claiming that while Gucci was in prison, Keyshia was “allegedly” sleeping with Yo Gotti.

It’s been reported that Keyshia was dating Gotti years ago until she and Gucci decided to make their relationship exclusive, which was the real reason the rappers had beef. Gucci and Keyshia have been living their best lives, enjoying their successes, and even recently welcomed their Icy baby boy into the world. Now, the internet is chiming in about an alleged encounter that was suggested to have occurred by Akademiks.

During his Livestream, Akademiks spoke about men not being able to “get over a woman’s past,” adding, “Gucci had to.”

Akademiks and others debated the topic of not considering a woman’s dating or sexual past before he brought the conversation back to the Hip Hop couple. “Hold on now, and I’mma be really respectful as I talk about this, because if we really talking about Gucci and his wife, a lot of y’all n*ggas be like, ‘Gucci’s wildin’.’ Y’all know allegedly Gucci’s wife, while he was locked up, slept with Yo Gotti, right? Allegedly. That’s why he cussed out Angela Yee… That’s why he was mad at her.”

“Gucci, at that time, was f*cking mad bitches, but the girl that he was gonna settle down with, that he always had an extra sh*t for, was Keyshia Ka’Oir,” said Akademiks. “However, he wasn’t with her his whole time. He was also kind of running around a little bit. When she decided to do her a little bit, allegedly, she might have been with Yo Gotti. Like, most of y’all, y’all demonize any girl that was ever with another rapper that y’all could recognize. Gucci married his girl, he realized she was a good girl who held it down and who also helped him out with a lot of sh*t.”

Social media is attempting to pit two men against each other. Kevin Samuels is a controversial social media figure who prides himself as being a consultant and dating expert who often turns heads with his takes on women. He recently visited The Joe Budden Podcast where he explained why he thought Saweetie’s beauty only deserved a rating of “six” on a scale of one to 10, but that is the least scandalous comment he’s made since gaining popularity online.

Dr. Umar Johnson is not only a pan-African intellectual who works with inner-city schools and children with behavioral issues, but he’s also quite the popular meme. He’s known for calling a select group of Black people “c*ons” and it seems that Samuels isn’t much of a fan.

“The man who has two children by two different women that he never married,” said Samuels. “The guy in the last ten years has not built brick one of the school he’s collected money from?… The man who calls you ‘queen,’ ‘mother,’ ‘goddess,’ and all this other kind of stuff and again, for those who are keeping score, this is another who comes on here and says, ‘Talk to us more like Umar.'” He then went on to mock Dr. Umar before giving him a shout-out and saying he doesn’t have a problem with him.

Over on Dr. Umar’s Instagram Live, the activist called out the Dirty Dozen of Division—his moniker, not ours—that he calls “beta males who are trying to build a platform by making Black women feel bad.” He added, “I don’t like it. I can’t appreciate Black men trying to make a dollar off of making Black women feel bad.” Dr. Umar also called out Black women who are “so thirsty for validation” that they “are participating in the attacks and slander against the Black female community.”

Technically, Dr. Umar didn’t directly address Samuels in the clip, so later, he returned to Instagram to share that people have taken the soundbite and used it in an effort to create “empty ‘entertainment.'” Swipe below to read through and watch all of the posts.

The Rap community has suffered another tragic loss, this time in Pennsylvania. The Rap industry isn’t unfamiliar with artists passing away due to street violence and it’s being reported that a popular rapper from Pittsburgh has been killed. We’ve witnessed other losses to gun violence including Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, King Von, and several others, and loved ones of rapper Flatline Nizzy have taken to social media to tribute the fallen artist.

Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reported on the rapper’s death, stating that Nizzy, real name Nathan Freeman, was found dead on Monday (May 3).

The 24-year-old rapper was reportedly located in McKees Rocks around 1:30 a.m. following a call that there was a shooting somewhere near the location. It was quickly determined that Freeman had been shot in the head. 

At the end of March, Freeman was promoting his project Rent Due on Instagram when she shared this caption: “Everybody on this project [one hundred emoji]. 12:00 March 28th make it year since I wasn’t pose b here [target emoji][fingers crossed emoji]. Been missin in action cuz police hating on me nothing but crabs in a bucket out here [one hundred emoji] I accept everything that come wit it it’s what I chose.”

Allegheny County authorities are investigating the case but at the time of this publication, there haven’t been any suspects or persons of interests named publicly.

The search continues for 19-year-old Saniyya Dennis, the SUNY Buffalo State College student who went missing over a week ago. Surveillance footage at the college showed the teen inside of an elevator as she was leaving campus. Her father, battle rapper and Dipset affiliate 40 Cal has been pleading for the public to help spread awareness about his daughter’s missing person case. According to 40 Cal, real name Calvin Byrd, authorities have been dragging their feet in search efforts and he, along with his friends and family, have stormed Buffalo streets passing out flyers and knocking on doors.

It’s reported that Saniyya was tracked to a bus where she reportedly got off in Niagra Falls. What happened to the college student after deboarding the bus remains a mystery.

“Our one and only goal in this investigation is to locate Saniyya and reconnect her with her family,” University Police Chief Peter Carey said in a statement. “Understandably, emotions are high right now, but I want to be clear that our department will not rest until Saniyya is found… I understand the desire for new details about this case is high, but to ensure the integrity of this multi-agency investigation, we are limited in our ability to share further information at this time,” Carey said.

40 Cal sat down with BNC News to talk about his daughter and her case. “I’m really frustrated and upset about how this case is being handled,” said the rapper. He explained that his daughter is an honor roll student who has a full scholarship to Buffalo State. Other relatives have described Saniyya as a responsible person who isn’t prone to wandering off without warning.

The rapper added the case was given to university police and claimed “they fumbled” because they weren’t equipped to handle a situation such as this. Cal claims that in the video that shows Saniyya in the elevator, she gets in with a man. After waiting days for the footage, Cal asked the police who the man was. He claims they hadn’t even begun investigating the unknown person.
