Scarlett Johansson Calls Out “Sexist” HFPA Amid Golden Globes Accusations

Scarlett Johansson called out the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in a lengthy statement, Saturday, joining numerous stars to call out the group for sexism recently. The HFPA is the body that determines the winners of the Golden Globes.

“As an actor promoting a film, one is expected to participate in awards season by attending press conferences as well as awards shows. In the past, this has often meant facing sexist questions and remarks by certain HFPA members that bordered on sexual harassment. It is the exact reason why I, for many years, refused to participate in their conferences,” the actress said in a statement to Indie Wire. “The HFPA is an organization that was legitimized by the likes of Harvey Weinstein to amass momentum for Academy recognition and the industry followed suit. Unless there is necessary fundamental reform within the organization, I believe it is time that we take a step back from the HFPA and focus on the importance and strength of unity within our unions and the industry as a whole.”

The HFPA came under fire earlier this year for having zero Black members among its 87-person group. The organization has said it plans to increase its membership by 50% and invite more “underrepresented groups.”

The Golden Globe-winning actor continued:

Now is the time to step up and right the wrongs of the past. Our industry is embracing the opportunity for greater equality in this beautiful moment. It is not perfect and long overdo but it is clear what must happen and how. The Justice Movement is offering all of us, the HFPA, and every other entertainment entity, a good way forward. We should all follow suit. It is our audiences and our highest sense of decency that we are ultimately serving with these changes. They are both deserving.

Zach Wilson Says The Jets’ Starting QB Job “Must Be Earned”

New York Jets’ quarterback Zach Wilson spoke with reporters during the second day of rookie minicamp, Saturday, and explained that the starting job has to be earned, despite the team drafting him with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

“In this position, the coaches want to play the best player. That position has to be earned,” he told the press, according to ESPN. “I have to do what I’m supposed to do. That’ll take care of itself.”

Jets’ new head coach, Robert Saleh, said he was impressed with Wilson’s performance thus far.

“He did a really nice job,” Saleh said. “The ball was in and out of his hand very crisp. He was in rhythm and was on time; the players were running the right routes. The ball was barely on the ground.”

The only other quarterbacks on the team’s roster are Mike White and James Morgan, neither of whom have played in a regular-season game.

Wilson also told reporters that he’d be moving to number two with the Jets, after playing with the number one on his jersey throughout college: “Mixing it up, doing something new. I like single-digit numbers. I think it’s kind of cool that I was the second pick. That’s kind of a cool reason to shake it up.”

Dave Chappelle & Joe Rogan Discuss Elon Musk’s “SNL” Episode

Joe Rogan and Dave Chappelle discussed Elon Musk’s upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live, during a new episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

“No one is woke enough,” Rogan said. “They can’t appreciate the fact that you’re dealing with one of the most brilliant men that’s ever lived.”

Musk has appeared on two episodes of Rogan’s podcast.

Chappelle added that his interactions with Musk have all been very positive.

“Like you said, no one can be woke enough,” the comedian said. “I’m torn because I like a warrior for a good cause, but I’m really into tactics. You’re not gonna nag people into behaving … In fact, if you continue with this tone, even if you’re right, you’ll be very hard to hear.”

The two comedians also discussed The Chappelle Show, and how Chappelle got the rights to it back, recently.

“It wasn’t a court of law,” Chappelle said. “I don’t believe I would have got anything in a court of law. I think, in the court of public opinion, it was a good time for me to say my piece and through the years it wasn’t something I would harp on…It was something I was actually reluctant to talk about.”

Musk will host tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Live, and be joined by his partner, Grimes.

Vivica A. Fox Recalls Ivanka Trump Making Racist Comment On “Celebrity Apprentice”

Vivica A. Fox recalled meeting former President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, while on Celebrity Apprentice, and says that she made a racist comment towards her. Fox discussed the incident with Andy Cohen in his series For Real: The Story of Reality TV.

“I’ll never forget that when I did Celebrity Apprentice and Ivanka Trump, she said, ‘Wow, you speak very well,’” the Empire star recalled.

“No, Andy. I hate to say it,” Fox continued. “I don’t think she knew at the time that she was insulting us. I really think that she thought she was complimenting us. That it was like, ‘Oh, wow, you guys are intelligent.’”

“I don’t think she knows now,” responded Cohen.

He added: “Think of the layers and layers of white people that saw a cut of that show and aired it and they said, ‘Oh, this is great.’”

Fox’s appearance on Celebrity Apprentice came in 2015, one year prior to Trump’s Presidential election.

Earlier this week, Fox made headlines when she criticized Khloé Kardashian for being a doormat for Tristan Thompson.

“It’s time for Khloé to stop being a damn doormat for Tristan,” said Vivica. “First of all, you are a Kardashian, girl. I’m sure it’s plenty of brothas lining up. They all just wanna take a trip, you know what I mean… At this point, do you really want this kind of man to be a parental father figure to your children? The fact that he can’t even respect mama?”

Debris From Chinese Rocket Expected To Crash Into Earth This Weekend

Experts expect a large Chinese rocket to reenter the Earth’s atmosphere, at some point this weekend, as it is spiraling out of control towards the planet. The Long March 5B rocket measures 100 feet tall and weighs 22 tons; however, much of the debris will likely burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere.

“The risk that there will be some damage or that it would hit someone is pretty small — not negligible, it could happen — but the risk that it will hit you is incredibly tiny. And so I would not lose one second of sleep over this on a personal threat basis,” Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist at the Astrophysics Center at Harvard University, told CNN this week.

China’s rocket is a part of a growing trend towards more and more space debris becoming a concern. There are estimated to be hundreds of thousands of pieces of debris orbiting Earth, most of which burn up in the atmosphere.

“We expect it to reenter sometime between the eighth and 10th of May. And in that two-day period, it goes around the world 30 times,” McDowell continued. “The thing is traveling at like 18,000 miles an hour. And so if you’re an hour out at guessing when it comes down, you’re 18,000 miles out in saying where.”

Dave Bautista Says “Guardians 3” Will “Probably” Be His Last MCU Appearance

Dave Bautista says that Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 will most likely be his last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the character, Drax. Bautista appeared in numerous Marvel films as Drax including Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, on top of the previous Guardians films.

“I don’t know what the script of the third film is, to be honest with you,” Bautista told Digital Spy in a recent interview. “There was a script years ago that obviously is going to have to change because the whole direction of the Marvel universe has changed.”

The former wrestler added that there were talks of a spinoff film with Drax, but it’s gone silent for some time:

There were talks for a while about a Drax and Mantis film … It was really because it was James Gunn’s idea. He really wanted to do a Drax and Mantis film. He laid it out to me. I thought it was such a brilliant idea, but I haven’t heard any follow-up from the studio. I don’t think they’re very interested, or it doesn’t fit into the way they have things mapped out. But other than that, no. I mean, as far as my obligations, I’ve got Guardians 3, and that’s probably going to be the end of Drax.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to release on May 23, 2023.

Jay-Z Got In On The NFT Wave After His Marcy Venture Partners Invested In Bitski

While NFTs might be something the youngsters are pushing nowadays, there’s no such thing as being “too old” for cryptocurrency. Just look at Mick Jagger, who recently dropped an NFT of his own. As this sector of the cryptocurrency world continues to grow, more and more musical artists are throwing their hats into the NFT mix, and the latest to do so is none other than Jay-Z.

He along with his Marcy Venture Partners joined a $19 million funding round for the NFT marketplace, Bitksi. Roc Nation’s co-founder Jay Brown, Troy Carter, Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, and 3LAU are also found on the list of investors.

Marcy Venture Partners joins the likes of Serena Williams, Wendi Murdoch, and executives at TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, 100 Thieves and Adobe as the newest investors in Bitski. The San Francisco startup describes itself as the “Shopify for NFTs” and aims to provide an easy platform for brands, game developers, and consumers to create, buy, and sell digital goods. Prior to this, the San Francisco startup teamed up with Adidas and 2021 NFL Draft No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence to drop an NFT collection of 3D animated trading cards.

In case you’ve lost track of Jay-Z’s business moves this year, the rapper sold half of his champagne company, Ace Of Spades, to LVHM (for a price Forbes estimates to be $315 million) and his streaming service, Tidal, to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s Square for $297 million in cash and stocks. He also invested in the Los Angeles-based fitness company, LIT Method, and most-recently filed a trademark for a TV and film production company.

Tee Grizzley And Lil Durk Narrate Dark Street Tales In Their ‘White Lows Off Designer’ Video

This past Friday, Tee Grizzley shared his Built For Whatever album, an effort that stands as his seventh full-length project since 2017. The new release was led by “White Lows Off Designer” with frequent collaborator, Lil Durk, a record they both came together for in March.

Two months later, to coincide with his new album, Grizzley calls upon Durk once again to deliver a visual for their collaboration. In it, they both narrate the dangers of the streets they came from as Grizzley sits in the backseat of a car in the middle of a drive-by shooting while Durk resorts to a dimly lit abandoned house for his verse.

Tee Grizzley’s new album comes with nineteen tracks and a boatload of features from various rappers. Throughout the project’s near one-hour duration, listeners will hear appearances from King Von, Quavo, YNW Melly, Lil Tjay, Baby Grizzley, G Herbo, Big Sean, Babyface Ray and Young Dolph. Its release also comes after Grizzley joined Lil Yachty on his latest mixtape, Michigan Boy Boat.

As for Lil Durk, the new video comes after he joined DJ Khaled and Lil Baby in a visual for “Every Chance I Get,” a track from Khaled’s new album, Khaled Khaled.
