Nicki Minaj Pens Open Later & Touches On Her Father’s Tragic Passing

Having just re-released her classic 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty, Nicki Minaj has been one of the biggest talking points in the Hip-Hop community this week. In the lead up to dropping new music, the Queen rapper reportedly drove pink Crocs sales through the roof, and after going on Instagram Live on Thursday to tease the arrival of Beam Me Up Scotty on DSPs, she even caught dragged by controversial artist Azealia Banks.

Rather than clapping back at her fellow femcee, however, Nicki Minaj has capitalized on her moment by sharing an insightful and heartfelt open letter via her official website. According to Billboard, she tackles topics such as the joy of spending time with her baby son, her latest Netflix obsessions, and the devastating death of her father, Robert Maraj.

“Tho I can’t really bring myself to discuss the passing of my father as yet; I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life,” Nicki reveals. “I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he’s gone. Life is funny that way. May his soul rest in paradise. He was very loved & will be very missed.”

In addition to her father’s passing, Nicki also reflects on Hip-Hop’s recent loss of DMX, saying, “The passing of DMX hit me like a ton of bricks. Losing him felt like losing someone I grew up with. I adored him. Blessings to his family.”

Elsewhere in the open letter, the Queen artist discusses what life has been like for her as a new mother. In addition to constantly binging Netflix offers like The Crown and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, she has been spending a bulk of her time with her son, who she is known to affectionately refer to as “Papa Bear.”

“I’ve also been completely overwhelmed with joy & fulfillment in the world of Papa Bear,” she writes. “Each day creates a new & fascinating, magical memory that I hide far away into a little cute compartment of my heart; vowing never to forget any of it….He’s so smart, funny, sweet, competitive… it’s kind of crazy how they have a full personality so early on. Yesterday I made him say mama. Even got it on video. Just… Wow.”

Seeing that Nicki Minaj is still clearly mourning the loss of her father, fans will have to wait to see how this tragedy as well as her new experiences as a mother inform her upcoming music. In the meantime, stay tuned for the next chapter in the “Seeing Green” femcee’s career.

Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Blue Tint” Set To Restock: Details

Back in 2016, Kanye West introduced the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 to the world, and with the “Beluga” colorway, the silhouette became an immediate success. This shouldn’t be a surprise as everything Kanye touches pretty well turns to gold. Regardless, the 350 V2 has been a massive success and for five years, the momentum hasn’t died down. New colorways become more plentiful starting in 2017 and during the Fall run, sneakerheads were blessed with the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Blue Tint” which was another slam dunk for the brand.

In the images below, you can see how the shoe is pretty well exactly the “Zebra” model although the key difference is how the stripes are grey, all while the entire shoe has this frozen blue shade peaking through ever so slightly. It’s a shoe that excited a lot of fans upon release and as you can imagine, it sold out fairly quickly.

Now, according to Yeezy Mafia, this sneaker will finally be getting a restock about four years after its initial drop. The shoe is set to come out in November, and the excitement can already be felt in the air. Let us know whether or not you plan on getting a pair, in the comments below.

Fans Retread Noname & J. Cole Debate In Response To Lyrics From “The Off-Season”

Noname is trending on Twitter, Friday, following the release of J. Cole’s new album, The Off-Season, which has caused many fans to revisit the debate between the two rappers in 2020. After the police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, Noname criticized rappers who were staying silent, and J. Cole seemed to take offense when he released “Snow On Tha Bluff.”

On his new track, “Applying Pressure,” Cole raps, “If you broke and clownin’ a millionaire, the joke is on you.” Many feel the line comes across as tone-deaf.

One user on Twitter explained, “he’s STILL proving what NoName & other leftists have said to be true. That he doesn’t read & has zero class analysis.”

Noname recently replied to a fan who brought up the Cole incident on Twitter and shared a similar lyric from her: “I knew who i was thinking of when i wrote that line (myself back when i thought capitalism worked and the people who tore me apart for critiquing bey). either way i was wrong. both lines are offensive/shame poor folks. @ninamonei rightfully pointed this out and i apologize.”

When things first heated up between the two rappers, Noname responded to Cole with the track “Song 33.
