J. Cole Scores First Bucket With The Rwanda Patriots: Watch

J. Cole is a man of many talents beyond just music. While most fans are still listening to his new project The Off-Season, Cole has been focusing on other ventures such as his newfound pro basketball career. Cole recently signed with the Rwanda Patriots of the Basketball Africa League and this morning, he is making his debut with the team. He is slated to play between three to six games this season and fans have been excited to see whether or not he can keep up with the opposition.

Early on in today’s game, Cole was able to check into the game and he’s played quite a few minutes to start. At first, it seemed as though Cole was mostly making his moves on the defensive end thanks to a plethora of stops and solid rotations. However, Cole was able to break through and get his first points as a pro, off of a rebound.

In the Twitter clip below, Cole was seen trailing his teammate who couldn’t get the layup to go. That’s when Cole grabbed the rebound and made no mistake getting the basket. While it wasn’t the smoothest basket you’ll ever see, it’s definitely a shot that he will never forget.

It remains to be seen how much of an impact he’ll make throughout the rest of the game, although his performance has been promising thus far.

Drake Honors Kobe Bryant & Kevin Garnett After Hall Of Fame Induction

Drake has always been a massive basketball fan and he has no shame in showing it. While his allegiance may lie with the Toronto Raptors, he has always shown appreciation to those on other teams and he has even gotten some tattoos that reflect this fandom. Having grown up with players like Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett, it should come as no surprise that Drake is a huge fan of both of these men, and was eagerly awaiting their induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

That day finally came on Saturday as KG and Kobe were both given their rightful place in the Hall. Garnett made a moving speech during the festivities all while Vanessa Bryant made us tear up while accepting the honor on behalf of her husband. Following the even, Drake took to his IG story where he paid homage to the individuals who etched their name into the history books.

“Congrats KG one of the realest ever,” Drake wrote. “Much respect to everyone else as well and long live Kobe.” Tim Duncan was also placed in the Hall of Fame last night, making this one of the great HoF classes of all time. All three of these players were pillars of their respective franchises and they are all worthy champions.

As for Drake, it’s always good to see him showing love to those who have inspired him.

Ludacris Gets His Signature Braids Back & People Are Obsessed

Ludacris and his wife Eudoxie Mbouguiengue announced a few days ago that they were expecting their second child. They got married back in 2014 and welcomed their first child in 2015, recently celebrating their sixth anniversary together.

It’s been some time since Ludacris has rocked his signature 00s braids. The Atlanta-bred rapper chopped off his locks in exchange for a more traditional buzz cut, but the OG Luda braids will forever hold a special place in our hearts. It seems like the Grammy winner has had time during quarantine to grow his hair out, setting in the nostalgia yesterday by debuting his old school hairstyle on social media.

“Oooowooo, yeah boy,” said the Atlanta rapper in the video while flexing the braids. He rocked a white tank paired with a gold chain and earrings. Numerous people pointed out how Luda looked like he hadn’t aged a single day since the age

We always talk about Pharrell but Ludacris done looked the same since I was in 3rd grade lol,” remarked one Twitter user.

Another user took the nostalgic braids and the recent servicing of Nicki Minaj’s Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape to streaming services as a good luck sign for this summer. “Ludacris got his hair braided and n*ggas bumping itty bitty piggy like it just came out this summer about to be special,” wrote the user.

Kyrie Irving Explains Why Basketball Doesn’t Come First For Him Right Now

Kyrie Irving has always been a socially conscious individual and when something bothers him, he makes sure to voice his opinion. Throughout this season, Irving has made it abundantly clear that basketball is not the most important thing in his life, and while that may bother some fans, there is no denying that he has every right to feel that way. At the end of the day, human rights are way bigger than sports and if Kyrie wants to dedicate his life to righteous causes, he should be able to do so.

Last night, the Nets defeated the Chicago Bulls and after the game, Irving was not interested in answering any questions related to the game. Instead, he spoke on the conflict in Israel and Palestine and how it has affected him. Irving touched on those who are oppressed and how his mind has mostly shifted over to what’s going on overseas.

“I’m not going to lie to you guys, a lot of stuff is going on in this world and basketball is just not the most important thing to me right now,” Irving said per ESPN. “There’s a lot of things going on overseas. All our people are still in bondage across the world, and there’s a lot of dehumanization going on.

“So I apologize if I’m not going to be focused on y’all’s questions. It’s just too much going on in the world for me to just be talking about basketball. I focus on this most of the time, 24/7, but it’s just too much going on in this world not to address. It’s just sad to see this s— going on. It’s not just in Palestine, not just in Israel. It’s all over the world, and I feel it. I’m very compassionate to it — to all races, all cultures and to see it, to see a lot of people being discriminated against, based on their religion, color of their skin, what they believe in. It’s just sad.”

With the playoffs right around the corner, it remains to be seen whether or not Irving will want to continue with the season. He has never been shy to take some time off, and Nets fans should be prepared for anything.

Nicki Minaj Drops A New Verse On Skillibeng’s “Crocodile Teeth”

The era of mixtapes is feeling nostalgic these past few years. Wayne’s No Ceilings hit DSPs, as did Drake’s So Far Gone in 2019. All that’s left from the Young Money dynasty was for Nicki to bring Beam Me Up Scotty to the streaming era. And she did. On Friday, fans were elated when the project was shared onto all streaming platforms, along with three new songs. Just to remind people of YM’s glory days, she dropped “Seeing Green” ft. Lil Wayne and Drake, as well as “Fractions” which samples Jay-Z’s “Where I’m From.”

The third new track that arrived on the project was a remix of Skillibeng’s “Crocodile Teeth” which has been scorching hot in the streets in the past few months. Nicki laces the track up with an additional verse, riding the dancehall production with ease. The song was initially teased by Skillibeng days before the re-release but has since been deleted.

Skillibeng is riding high and is bound to make an even bigger splash on international grounds. The remix arrives a few weeks after he linked up with Rich The Kid and Jay Critch on “Real Boss.”

Peep Nicki’s remix of “Crocodile Teeth” below.

Quotable Lyrics
Tell ’em “watch out,” I brought the block out
Talk shit, but when they see me, it’s a cop-out
They don’t get the big picture, they get cropped out
Styles on ’em like somebody brought The LOX out

Jake Paul Calls 6ix9ine A Rat When Asked About Potential Boxing Match

6ix9ine is one of the biggest trolls on the entire internet and these days, his antics are downright disrespectful. At first, 6ix9ine used to get under people’s skin, but now, he actively wishes death upon people, which is vile, to say the least. Regardless, the artist has managed to stay relevant and his name is constantly being brought up when it comes to celebrity boxing matches. With this in mind, it should come as absolutely no surprise that he would be interested in a fight against Jake Paul.

In a recent video posted to TikTok, Paul was asked about a potential fight and whether or not he would do it if there were millions involved. At first, Jake seems opposed to the idea although eventually, he puts on a glove and asks for some rat traps. Needless to say, the whole thing is satirical although you can’t help but feel like the simulation we’re living in might actually allow this to happen.

As of right now, Paul is looking for his next challenger, and most people believe it will be Dillon Danis. However, there is a solid chance he could also fight Floyd Mayweather, who is gearing up to fight Jake’s brother Logan on June 6th.

Let us know if you want to see 6ix9ine fight Jake, in the comments below.

J. Cole Enlist 21 Savage & Morray On “m y . l i f e”

J. Cole delivered his latest album, The Off-Season on Friday and even his detractors have something positive to say about this one. In the past few years since K.O.D., J. Cole’s tapped into another level of his skillset which is likely due to opening up to collaborations. Among the more unexpected features, he’s done was “a lot” with 21 Savage which earned both rappers a Grammy for Best Rap Song.

On The Off-Season, Savage and Cole reunite alongside Morray for a highlight off of the project titled, “m y . l i f e.” Jake One, Wu10 and Cole handle the bluesy production that finds the Dreamville rapper and 21 Savage trading bars detailing their struggles in their childhood and overcoming the obstacles that could’ve led them to grave circumstances. The winding vocal sample feels reminiscent of “a lot” in many ways, though the drums certainly kick a bit harder on this one.

Morray’s hook ties together the track with an homage to Styles P and Pharoah Monch’s “The Life.” Check the song out below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics
Say what? The stuff that I’ve seen got me traumatized
I let the K go when Johnny died
Swangin’ that muhfucka’ side to side
We don’t participate, ain’t with that squashin’ shit, all we believe in is homicide

Karlie Redd’s Ex Mo Fayne Pleads Guilty In PPP Loan Fraud Case

Mo Fayne is most known for his stint on season 8 of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta as the boyfriend of Karlie Redd. Their tumultuous union ended last year during quarantine when she quietly filed for divorce. Fayne has made a name for himself in the headlines for being accused of being involved in numerous fraud activities.

Last May, he was arrested on $2 million worth of bank fraud charges in connection with a PPP loan. In June, he was accused of running a massive $5 million Ponzi scheme. Now, according to TMZ, the former reality star could be facing some serious time behind bars in his PPP loan fraud case.

Fayne pled guilty to six different counts of federal bank fraud after prosecutors accused him of funding the lavish lifestyle he was displaying over social media during the pandemic was with a Paycheck Protection Program loan. These PPP loans are intended to help employees and small businesses most hit hard by COVID.

In court documents obtained by TMZ, Fayne was ordered to give up nearly $100,000 dispersed across several bank accounts, as well as all eight of his 2015 Kenworth T680 trucks that he purchased with the extra money.

In exchange for his guilty plea, federal prosecutors dropped 14 other charges they originally had against him and instead agreed to recommend Fayne get a 151-month prison sentence–or about 12.5 years. Before the deal, he was facing a potential maximum sentence of 30 years.

As explained briefly, Fayne was accused of using a PPP loan of over $2 million to buy $85,000 worth of jewelry and pay off indebted child support. He’s been in prison since December for violating bond terms, but his defense is currently looking to get him released before his September sentencing. We’ll keep you updated as this case develops.

Tony Ferguson Dominated By Beneil Dariush, Loses Third-Straight Fight

Tony Ferguson used to be one of the most feared men in the entire UFC and for a while, he was trying to get himself that elusive title fight against Khabib. Unfortunately, Ferguson was on a bit of a losing streak, and last night, he had an opportunity to get back in the win column. The fight was against Beneil Dariush and while many fans felt like Ferguson would win, it became clear that Dariush came to dominate from start to finish, and that is exactly what he did.

Ferguson ultimately lost the fight in a unanimous decision that saw Beneil pummeling Ferguson for the majority of the 15-minute runtime. It looked like Ferguson was simply out of gas throughout the match and Dariush was just too hungry to not get the victory.

For Ferguson, this loss brings up the question of what’s next. With Khabib out of the UFC forever, a fight against the former star is pretty well out of the cards. Not to mention, losing three in a row pretty well guarantees the fact that he won’t be getting a shot at the title, anytime soon.

Considering Ferguson’s former reputation, it’s a sad state of affairs but just like in every sport, age eventually catches up to you.
