Kevin Huerter Disgusts Hawks Fans By Picking Rich The Kid Over Outkast

Fans of the Atlanta Hawks turned on one of their own players on Saturday night … well, kind of. As is oftentimes the case in NBA arenas, the Hawks tried to pass some time in between timeouts by running little segments involving players. One appeared to have some sort of bracket element with Atlanta-based rappers, and Kevin Huerter, bless his heart, earned himself a whole lot of boos.

Huerter was asked to choose between Rich the Kid and Outkast. Now, you and I know that regardless of your thoughts on Rich the Kid, you should say Outkast every single time when asked this question, especially if you are doing this in a large venue in Atlanta.

And yet Huerter decided to give his honest answer, and thanks to a video from Taylor Rooks, we learned that the crowd at State Farm Arena showered him with boos.

The video is great because you can hear the crowd react to “RICH THE KID OR OUTKAST” by making a noise as if to say, “Oh, this one is obvious.” Huerter then zags where everyone expects him to zig, which gets the crowd all riled up. We can’t totally make out what is said on the video, but whatever it is, Huerter chuckles at it. Anyway, Kevin, if you read this during halftime, know you’re gonna need to score like 40 in a win to make up for this.

“I would honestly like to sue my family, to be totally honest with you,” she said during her statement. “I also would like to be able to share my story with the world, and what they did to me, instead of it being a hush-hush secret to benefit all of them. I want to be able to be heard on what they did to me by making me keep this in for so long. It is not good for my heart. I’ve been so angry, and I cry every day.”

Wack 100 Calls Out Sha’Carri Richardson: “She Failed Us As A People”

In contrast to the number of voices in the hip-hop community coming out in support of Sha’Carri Richardson, following her suspension for a positive marijuana test, Wack 100 says that she has “failed us as a people” as far as he is concerned. The United States Anti-Doping Association announced her suspension earlier this week, ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.

“Put her on the first thing smoking back to the dispensary!” Wack wrote alongside a photo of Richardson on Instagram. “A violation leads to punishment. Nobody is bigger than the program. Rules & regulations are there to be followed not ignored. She failed us as a people far as I’m concerned!”

Richardson says that she used the drug as a coping mechanism, in response to her mother’s death.

“We all have our different struggles, we all have our different things we deal with, but to put on a face and have to go out in front of the world and put on a face and hide my pain,” Richardson said in a statement on Friday. “Who are you? Who am I to tell you how to cope when you’re dealing with a pain or you’re dealing with a struggle that you’ve never experienced before or that you never thought you’d have to deal with. Who am I to tell you how to cope? Who am I to tell you you’re wrong for hurting?”

Royce Da 5’9 Reflects On His Recovery From Alcoholism

Royce Da 5’9 recently opened up about his battle with alcoholism and his subsequent recovery, during an interview with HipHopDX. Royce says it was in the company of Dr. Dre when he first began drinking.

“It was just so many years of just — excuse my language— fucking up,” Royce told the outlet while reflecting on the dark time in this life.

He explained: “Just doing bad stuff, doing, making really bad decisions, having myself in situations that quite honestly I just felt like I was better than. It’s just dumbing myself down a lot. It was just really hard to stand on anything when you’re letting go of your inhibitions all day, every day. This is the business for that, you know what I mean? Once I started reaching a certain age, you don’t look cool doing that shit for a long time. It’s like first they’re laughing with you, then they start to laugh at you.”

Royce eventually quit alcohol and drug use in 2012 to focus on his life as a husband and father. He says his longtime collaborator, Eminem, played a pivotal role in supporting his recovery.

“I like to call it a spiritual awakening. I just woke up one day and there [it] was… I felt like I was just up. I made the necessary phone calls. I called Marshall [Mathers], and I said ‘Yo, I’m stopping drinking. I’m not drinking no more.’ He was like ‘Dog, that’s the realest thing you’ve ever said to me. Come home.’”

Royce will celebrate his ninth year of sobriety in September.

Cardi B Claps Back At Reporter Who Speculates Sha’Carri Richardson Uses Steroids

Cardi B, following suit with a number of other voices in the hip-hop community, came to the defense of Sha’Carri Richardson on social media, Saturday. Richardson was suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Association after testing positive for marijuana use.

Cardi initially clapped back at reporter Claire Lehmann, who speculated that Richardson was using steroids.

“Not sure whether the nails are real or fake, but in case you didn’t know very strong nails & hair can be a side effect of steroid use,” Lehmann tweeted, Friday.

“B I O T I N…….You needs for your thin ass hair,” replied Cardi.

Cardi took to Instagram to further comment on the situation:

This is how I feel about the Sha’Carri situation, right. I feel like we cannot turn time around. I feel like the Olympics are going to try and be so hard on her ’cause this has been a big situation. However, that doesn’t take away [from the fact] that she’s the most talked about athlete. Three years from now, she’s going to be the No. 1 most-anticipated to go to the Olympics.

Richardson says that she used the drug in Oregon, where it is legal, as a coping mechanism after learning of her mother’s death.
