Kevin Huerter Becomes Unlikely Hero For The Atlanta Hawks

Throughout the NBA playoffs, there are always some unlikely heroes during big moments. Some players embrace the idea of playing their best when the pressure is the biggest, and as it turns out, Kevin Huerter of the Atlanta Hawks is one of those guys. While many expected Trae Young to shine during Game 7 against the Sixers last night, it was actually Huerter who carried the Hawks thanks to a 27-point performance that also included seven rebounds.

With Young shooting poorly, the Hawks needed other guys to step up and that’s when Huerter played one of the best Game 7’s from an auxiliary player we’ve seen in quite some time. Almost every shot went in and his teammates were truly impressed by everything they were witnessing.

Thanks to Huerter’s massive performance, the Hawks are going to the Eastern Conference Finals where they will now play the Milwaukee Bucks who just came off of a win against the Nets. Even if the Hawks lose this series, Huerter’s performance will still be remembered for years, and there is no doubt that the fans in Atlanta love him right now.

In the tweets below, you can see some of the reactions to Huerter and how he took the league by storm last night. Let us know how you think the Hawks will do against Milwaukee, in the comments below.

Doc Rivers Admits He Doesn’t Know If Ben Simmons Is A Championship Player

Philidelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers admitted that he’s unsure if Ben Simmons can play point guard at the level required to compete for a championship, following the team’s Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Sunday. Although the team was able to hold Trae Young to an uncharacteristically inefficient performance, the 76ers lost 103-96.

“Can Ben Simmons be the point guard of a championship team?” a reporter asked Rivers after the game.

“I don’t know the answer to that,” Rivers responded candidly.

When speaking about Simmons later in the press conference, he added: “I still believe in him.”

Simmons finished with just five points despite being one of the highest-paid players in the league. He failed to surpass eight points in each of the 76ers’ last three games.

“We lost, it sucks, I am who I am, it is what it is, it’s not easy to win…first thing I’m going to do is clear my mind and get my mental right,” Simmons said after the loss.

Despite his poor scoring performance, Simmons recorded 13 assists in the game.

The Hawks will take on the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday.

Hawks Defeat 76ers In Thrilling Game 7 Contest To Advance To ECF

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Philidelphia 76ers, 103-96, in Game 7, Sunday, to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Despite an ice-cold performance from Trae Young, the Hawks’ role players were able to step up and secure the win.

Kevin Huerter, in particular, had a huge night, logging a season-high 27 points, with three assists and seven rebounds.

“It’s been our memo all year,” Huerter said about the team overcoming the odds on the road. “We’ve had guys out all year, guys still banged up, a lot we wish were playing tonight. When you need someone to step up, this team is special. Everybody has counted us out all year. For us to get this far and win in this building in Game 7, that’s huge for us.”

The game came down to the wire with 20 lead changes and 19 ties throughout.

Young finished shooting just 5-23 on the night, but said they are aiming to make it farther than the Conference Finals.

“We’re happy we made it to the Eastern Conference finals, but we’re not satisfied,” Young said after the game.

The Hawks will take on the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday. The last time Atlanta made it to the NBA Finals was in 1961.

Michelle also wrote about her late father, Fraser Robinson III, in a separate post.

“It’s almost #FathersDay, so I’m thinking a lot about my dad: his baritone voice, his laugh that filled up the room, the way he always knew how to set the right mood by spinning up the perfect record. My father gave great advice, taught me the value of hard work, encouraged me to ask questions, and always gave me the space to do so. I always thought he was so cool—just look at this photo!”
