Lil Durk And 6lack Perform Electric Medley On Jimmy Fallon

On Friday night, Lil Durk performed as the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Durk was joined by 6lack as a special guest, and the two performed a medley of Durk’s tracks “Stay Down” and “Still Trappin” off of his latest album The Voice. The two were filmed in a large, empty warehouse for the performance alongside the help of some foggy lighting, some stoic masked figures, and a talented band. Lil Durk delivered an enthused performance for the show, flexing his charismatic stage presence.

Lil Durk broke records with The Voiceearning his highest sales week ever after the release of the deluxe version of the album. As of Thursday, the album is now eligible for gold status after only a few months of being released on December 24th, 2020.

“Still Trappin’, which was performed on The Tonight Show, originally featured fellow Chicago-native King Von, who met an unfortunate death in early November after allegedly being shot and killed by Quando Rondo’s crew. While Lil Durk’s album was released nearly two months after his death, Durk made sure that fans still had something to remember Von by.

Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay Accused Killer Facing New Charges

In October of 2002, Jam Master Jay was tragically shot and killed in his recording studio in New York. While it’s been nearly two decades since the murder occurred, the suspects involved are still being investigated. The shooting occurred as an alleged result of a drug deal gone wrong, and Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr. are believed to be the killers. Last August, the two were formally indicted for the murder of Jam Master Jay, whose real name is Jason Mizell.

As of Friday, there are new charges being held against Karl Jordan Jr., ones unrelated to the murder of the Run-DMC legend. The newest charges against Jordan include conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and use of firearms in connection with a drug-trafficking crime. Jordan will spend an additional five years in prison for the charges if he is convicted, on top of the time he will already have for his murder charge.

Jam Master Jay was allegedly in possession of 10 kilos of cocaine at the time of his murder, which Jordan and Washington were in search of. According to prosecutors, Jay told Washington that he “would not be involved in distributing the narcotics in Maryland, which precipitated the murder conspiracy.” Jordan then delivered the fatal shot that killed Jay.

Hopefully, we will have more information about the suspect as the trial unfolds.

Drake Urges Conor McGregor To Drop An Album

Drake made waves on Friday thanks to the release of his three-track EP Scary Hours 2. This new release contains features from the likes of Lil Baby and Rick Ross, with both of these additions being praised for their bars. Upon releasing the project, Drake took to Instagram with some posts for his fans, where some famous people found their way into his Instagram comments. One of those people was none other than Conor McGregor, who had an artsy response to what Drake has been up to.

“There’s sharks everywhere drizzy but there was crocodiles too and look what happened them. Slippers and bags! My brother love you thank you for the 3 song release. Quality as always! Respect and God Bless to you and the team!” McGregor wrote.

McGregor’s poetic comment impressed Drake, which led to a snarky response from the artist, who seemingly wants McGregor to drop his very own album.

@thenotoriousmma you got all the bars drop a album,” he replied. This reply is pretty funny when you consider how McGregor was looking to blatantly drop some gems on Drizzy’s head.

A Conor McGregor album would definitely be a hilarious proposition although, at this point, we highly doubt that’s in the cards. However, we wouldn’t complain if it was.

Lil Uzi Vert Declares A New Album Is Coming ‘Soon’

Lil Uzi Vert went almost three years without a full-length release before dropping Eternal Atake on this date last year. Now it looks the rapper is ready to drop a follow-up, which he revealed during an Instagram Live session on Friday. If a new project from the Philly native arrives in the near future, it would be his fourth project since the start of 2020. Following Eternal Atake, he dropped Lil Uzi Vs. The World 2 and months later, he teamed up with Future for their collaboration Pluto X Baby Pluto.

The upcoming album could be either of his projects Forever Young and Luv Is Rage 3, the latter which he announced in December. He spoke about both efforts during the Instagram Livestream, saying he considered premiering them during a live show before releasing them on streaming platforms. With venues across the country slowly opening up thanks to increasing COVID vaccinations, he may be able to go through with the plan.

Until then, fans can expect to hear Lil Uzi alongside Blink-182 on their upcoming album. He and Grimes were also in the studio apparently “making hits” together.

Lil Uzi Vert is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

6ix9ine Accused Of Not Paying His Attorneys While Continuing To Blow Racks

Things have been looking pretty grim for Tekashi 6ix9ine for quite some time now, yet somehow, they continue to get worst. In just the past two weeks alone, the Brooklyn native was exposed for sliding into Lil Nas X’s direct messages, tastelessly mocked King Von’s death with Pooh Sheisty song lyrics, and was sued for failing to pay up more than $75,000 in unpaid security fees he racked up around the time of his high-profile trial for his federal RICO charge. Now, criminal attorneys are claiming that the rapper has refused to pay up for his legal defense in a case all while blowing through racks of cash.

According to the Daily News, attorneys at the law firm Reitler Kailas & Rosenblatt have claimed that the “Gooba” rapper, née Daniel Hernandez, has been ignoring their calls over the last few months despite having an upcoming case, refusing to pay his $66,000 bill. Associates at RK&R are representing Hernandez in a case where a bystander is suing the rapper for $150 million for his connection to a 2018 “crime spree with the Nine Trey Bloods.”

A judge in the Brooklyn Supreme Court has requested the case be heard in April, but the lawyers are threatening to ditch the rapper if he doesn’t pay up soon.

“Hernandez has not paid for past services,” said his lawyer Brian Caplan. “And has shown both an unwillingness and an inability to fund the litigation on an ongoing basis.”

The news comes after he debuted a flashy $1 million chain on Instagram. He also recently spent some time partying on a yacht with models.

Senate Officially Passes $1.9 Trillion COVID-19 Relief Bill

COVID-19 has been an absolute disaster that has left over 500,000 people dead in the United States. 29 million Americans have been diagnosed with the virus and while numbers are decreasing due to the vaccine, it’s clear that the economic issues caused by the virus are still very prevalent. As a result, the Joe Biden administration has been concocting a $1.9 trillion COVID relief package that would deliver $1400 stimulus checks to those who need them the most.

While the House had already passed the bill, it was awaiting its time in the Senate. On Saturday, the bill was finally passed by a vote of 50-49. This was a huge moment for the Biden administration as well as the American people, who will be getting some much-needed checks, that will help pay for rent, utilities, and groceries.

There were some Democrats in the Senate like Joe Manchin who seemed to be apprehensive about signing the bill into law but in the end, the bill was passed. It remains to be seen how long it will take for these checks to make their way to the American people although considering it is the government we’re talking about, don’t expect them to come right away.

Regardless, this is a win for everyone who is struggling right now, and hopefully, these checks are distributed sooner rather than later.

Megan Thee Stallion To Rebuild Homes For Single Moms Affected By Houston Freeze

A few weeks ago, Texas experienced a historic deep freeze that left millions of people in the state without power while also destroying the homes of many individuals whose infrastructure was simply not built to deal with that type of weather. While power has largely been restored, many people are now without homes. Houston-native and self-proclaimed H-Town Hottie Megan thee Stallion is joining forces with U.S. Representative Sheila Jackson Lee and a local charity to help rebuild the homes of those in need.

The “Body” rapper has joined forces with Lee and executives from the National Association of Christian Churches (NACC) Disaster Services to provide help to senior citizens and single moms whose homes were impacted during the deadly winter storms and deep freeze that struck the state last month (February 2021).

The initiative will be backed by heads at brands like Revlon, Fashion Nova, and Coach, as well as her label 300 Entertainment, and Dolce & Gabbana. Her “Body” music video co-star Taraji P. Henson and Maroon 5 have also been listed as donors to the fund, which will continue on for the next two years.

In a statement released by the superstar, she wrote, “Seeing the devastation and hearing the heartbreaking stories that have surfaced, I knew I had to do something to help my hometown.”

She continued, “I am so happy that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, the NACC and I aligned on the goal of repairing the homes of the elderly and uninsured single moms who are the most vulnerable and often displaced by these kinds of devastating events.”

Along with Megan, fellow Houston-natives Travis Scott and Beyoncé have both made efforts aimed at helping relieve some of the disasters.

YG, Megan Thee Stallion, Big Sean & More Show Out On “Coming 2 America” Soundtrack

The hype surrounding Coming 2 America has been real. There’s been anticipation for a sequel to the film for years now, though there’s always been some sort of skepticism regarding whether it would actually come to life. The film arrived a day earlier than expected on Amazon Prime. Given the amount of star power they brought on for the film, it was only right that the soundtrack represents it equally. The Coming 2 America OST arrived on Friday along with another body of work called Rhythms Of Zamunda highlighting predominantly African artists. They bring together some of the biggest names from America and Africa on board with artists like Burna Boy, Teyana Taylor, Davido, Tiwa Savage, YG, Big Sean, and more contributing.

Beyonce Sings A Medley Of Her Songs To Honor 13-Year-Old Fan Lyric Chanel

Back in September Beyonce sent flowers to a 13-year-old girl after the singer saw a video of her singing one of her songs. Her name was Lyric Chanel, and she was in the midst of what would be a two-year battle with brain cancer and anaplastic ependymoma. That fight came to a sad end on Friday after news arrived that Chanel unfortunately passed away.

In response Beyonce shared a moving medley of her hits to honor Chanel. The two-minute tribute finds her singing “Brown Skin Girl,” “Halo,” and “Love on Top.” She also replaced the word “baby” with “Lyric” while singing the chorus of the latter song. The medley also comes with a video that shows many pictures and clips from Chanel’s life, including one of her rocking some of Beyonce’s Ivy Park gear, which the singer sent her back in October. “Thank you so much @beyonce this couldn’t have come at a better time,” Chanel wrote in a post celebrating the package. “Just got back from getting Chemo and look at the surprise that was waiting. I love you so much.”

The Go Gold For Childhood Cancer Instagram account shared the sad news on Friday. “Lyric gained her angel wings this morning at the age of 13 years old,” they wrote. “Lyric bravely battled Anaplastic Ependymoma and endured more than a child ever should. She loved singing, listening to music, and dancing. I know she most definitely dancing with all the angels right now. Watch over your family baby girl! You are forever missed!”

You can listen to the medley in the video above.
