Aaliyah’s Uncle Apologizes For Delay In Uploading Her Catalog To DSPs

As the digital age took over the music industry, there’ve been several quintessential albums from the past that have yet to make their way onto streaming services. Aaliyah is regarded as one of the most influential R&B singers of the 90s whose presence is felt in many ways today. However, it was only until Friday did her catalog begin to pop up on streaming services.

Aaliyah’s uncle and Blackground Records founder Barry Hankerson has been at the receiving end of criticism over the delay in its re-release into the digital space. As the owner of her masters, including her sophomore album One In A Million, Hankerson spoke out and thanked Aaliyah’s parents, Diane and Michael Haughton, who also served as the late singer’s managers.

“I cannot take the credit for managing Aaliyah as that was never a title I held. That title belonged to Diane Haughton and her husband who managed Aaliyah from the start of her career until her passing. I want to thank Diane, Aaliyah’s manager, for allowing and choosing Blackground Records to become her label,” he wrote.

Barry also extended a thank you to his son, Jomo Hankerson, for helping out during the process before issuing an apology to the fans.

“Thank you to all of her many fans for keeping her music alive,” he continued. “I’m sorry it took so long, but when you lose a family member so unexpectedly, it takes time to deal with that type of grief. I decided to release Aaliyah’s music in order to keep her legacy alive.”

SZA Drops Her Third Song Of The Day With “Nightbird”

Despite not releasing an album in over four years, SZA has been incredibly active today as she started the morning off with a new song on her secret SoundCloud called “Joni.” SZA then followed this up with a song called “I Hate You,” and now, she is back again with a third effort called “Nightbird.” For now, it seems like these songs are simply unused tracks from an upcoming album, although the mixes suggest that these are fully fleshed-out efforts.

As for the track “Nightbird,” SZA offers up some bouncy bass lines that contain your typical r&b vibes. From there, the singer laments about a failed relationship and the man that continues to do her wrong. With “Joni” and “I Hate You,” SZA is grappling with the breakup but on “Nightbird,” she seems completely fed up with it.

There is no telling whether or not these drops will lead to a new album, however, there is no doubt that she has her fans talking.

Quotable Lyrics:

Stay the night
Even if it’s not for real
Stay the night
Only got you for a short time

SZA Unleashes Yet Another Song On SoundCloud In “I Hate You”

SZA is one of the most beloved r&b singers out right now although it has been a very long time since she gave fans an album. Back in 2017, she came through with CTRL which was easily one of the best projects of that year. Since then, fans have been patiently waiting, and now, all of that patience has paid off as SZA has begun releasing new tracks on her secret SoundCloud. This morning, we reported on her new track “Joni,” and now, she is back with another song called “I Hate You.”

In this song, we get some dark production that complements the singer’s voice perfectly. Throughout the track, she sings about a recent breakup and how she wishes things had played out differently. The song feels like a natural progression from her CTRL era and if you’re already a fan of the singer, then you are probably going to enjoy this new single.

Earth, Wind & Fire Join Forces With Lucky Daye For “You Want My Love”

Earth, Wind & Fire is one of the most legendary groups of all time, and over the years, they have been known for cranking out the hits. Despite being older now, they are still making new music, and fans are always excited for the vibes they provide. Recently, the group teamed up with r&b star Lucky Daye for a brand new track called “You Want My Love” and it is an immediate hit.

With its gorgeous guitar melodies and bouncy bass lines, this song will bring you back to those retro EWF vibes. As for Lucky Daye, his voice shines all throughout the track as he sings about love and that push and pull that comes with it. This is a great merging of old and new that will bring together multiple generations of music listeners.

So why you keep it bottled up? Open, open, let me show you what I could do

For weeks now, Kanye West has been teasing and promising the release of his new album DONDA. Despite two listening events in Atlanta, the album has still yet to drop, and fans are beginning to get impatient. Luckily, there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel as Kanye has announced a third listening party in Chicago, which will supposedly be the final one before he releases the album on August 27th.

According to various sources, the album is, indeed, going to be released this week and as it stands, Kanye and his team are working on the final mixes. In fact, Kanye’s new mixes are currently in the hands of his friends and family, including Kim Kardashian.

Kim took to Instagram recently where she shared a photo from inside her car. As you can see in the photo below, Kim was listening to various DONDA mixes, which is proof that the album is nearing its final stages before reaching completion. It is unknown as to which song Kim was listening to, although we’re sure it sounds great regardless. The last listening party was extremely promising, and with three more weeks of fine-tuning under his belt, it looks like Kanye is ready to bless fans with a masterpiece.

To help hype up the album, Kanye recently posted a photo of his childhood home on Instagram. He also shared a menacing group text he sent to Drake, although that IG post has since been taken down given the backlash.

Needless to say, we are going to be in for a very interesting week.

Instagram Gallery: Trippie Redd’s Craziest Looks

At the young age of 22, Trippie Redd has been able to achieve more than most rappers do in their entire career. The rapper found himself at the forefront of the emo-trap explosion in 2016 and has remained a key player alongside late artists Juice Wrld and XXXTentacion. Through his A Love Letter To You album series and his debut project Life’s A Trip, the Ohio rapper has amassed a massive fanbase of over 12 million Instagram followers.

His new album Trip At Knight continues to cement Trippie’s experimental tendencies as he moves away from emo-trap into a more rage/hyperpop sound. Accompanied by similarly outlandish album imagery and music videos, his image and fashion choices tend to represent the same, as he pushes boundaries with every outfit that he puts together. So, in that spirit, we’ve put together a collection of the most eccentric outfits he’s posted on Instagram.

King Vamp Trippie

In this photo, taken at the time of Trippie’s “Miss The Rage” collaboration with Playboi Carti, it seems the Ohio rapper borrowed inspiration from Carti’s vampire-inspired closet. Fitted with a leather coat, leather pants, Alexander McQueen boots, and even a cowboy hat, perhaps this outfit is a few years ahead of its time.

“You’ll Grow Into It”

Trippie sure knows how to turn heads. This photo, which finds Trippie donning a massive Supreme puffer along with what look like monster slippers, might need to be locked away until the Summer.

Two-Faced Trippie

This half-makeup, half-mask look is definitely one of the rapper’s more creative get-ups. Who knew rag doll looks were efficient enough to smoke in?

Trippie The Vigilante

The leather-on-leather trench coat look that started with the “Miss The Rage” video seems to have stuck with Trippie, though now more ominous. Him and SoFaygo must be sweating.

Trippie And Uzi Fashion Show

Both rappers are known for their willingness to break fashion boundaries– though they seem to have played it relatively safe for the “Holy Smokes” music video. Still, Uzi’s hat and trippier pants definitely stand out.

Throwback Trippie

Trippie always had the drip, even at a Lil Wayne and Rick Ross concert in 2005!

Red On Red

This outfit definitely lived up to the name– Trippie even donned the devil horns to match.

Spider Trippie

The rapper might be teasing a run in the spider verse with this red Nike Dunk, Givenchy, and spider-jacket outfit.

Chainmail Face Mask

This one definitely isn’t COVID-safe. Let’s hope that Trippie’s vaccinated.

Playboi Carti Sparks Speculation After Wiping His IG Account

Playboi Carti is one of the biggest artists in hip-hop right now thanks to his steady stream of punk-inspired bangers that have completely captivated the youth. If you were to go on TikTok right now, you would quickly realize that Whole Lotta Red is held in very high esteem, despite the backlash that occurred when it first came out. At this point, Carti is a well-established name in the game and whenever he does something, fans put him under the microscope.

During his Whole Lotta Red rollout, there were various times in which he wiped his Instagram account so that he could start over with new aesthetics. Kanye West recently did the same thing for his upcoming album DONDA, and as you can imagine, this move has sparked a ton of speculation about this upcoming week.

Carti obviously understands just how well this tactic works when it comes to drumming up hype, so it should be no surprise that he has done it again. According to DJ Akademiks, Carti’s entire Instagram has been wiped clean. While the account is still up, he now has no profile picture and no posts.

On Twitter, fans began to speculate about what this could mean. Some believe Carti is entering a new aesthetic era, while some out there believe the artist could be gearing up to drop a DELUXE version of Whole Lotta Red. Carti said this DELUXE would come sooner rather than later although that promise has pretty well been broken.

Stay tuned to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you the latest updates from the hip-hop world.

Mo3’s Manager Explains Why Morray Replaced Rod Wave On “In My Blood”

The death of Mo3 rattled the rap game, specifically in the South. The budding Dallas rapper had already gained a buzz following massive street singles and a nod from Boosie Badazz. And while his team has been working endlessly to keep his name alive with the release of Shottaz 4Eva, other rappers who simply appreciated Mo3’s music have contributed to these efforts.

On Friday, Mo3’s camp unveiled a brand new single featuring Morray titled, “In My Blood.” However, it turns out that Morray wasn’t the first choice for the record. Mo3’s manager Benjamin Rainwater recently sat down with Street Starz where he revealed that “In My Blood” was created with another rapper in mind — Rod Wave.

“Actually, the song Morray got on, we made that for Rod Wave,” Rainwater said. Morray has previously expressed his genuine appreciation for Mo3’s music in the past. Ahead of the song’s release, Morray paid a visit to Mo3’s gravesite along with the late rapper’s son.

“‘Cause 3 was alive when we tried to get that done but then somebody genuine came, you know. He a real n***a. He gave all the proceeds on the publishing side to Mo3 family. He didn’t take a dollar,” Rainwater added.

Though we haven’t heard Rod Wave’s reasoning behind why the track may or may not have worked, fans have speculated that there’s been tension between the St. Petersburg singer and Morray. On Friday, Rod Wave shared the deluxe edition of SoulFly including the single “Get Ready” ft. Kodak Black. Some fans have speculated that Rod Wave may have been throwing shots at Morray on the record.

“Labels used to look past me, now they trying to remake me/ Grab a fat n***a out the trenches and replace me/Tryna duplicate me, can’t be,” he sings on the record. Along with the reference of another “fat” rapper, many believed Rod Wave was also referencing Morray’s record, “Trenches.
