Soulja Boy Raps Over “Squid Game” Score For New Single

This was inevitable but still, it’s pretty crazy that we’re already getting Squid Game-branded songs. The most popular show in the world right now, Squid Game has completely taken over Netflix. With rumblings about a second season possibly being green-lit by the show’s director, the gruesome Korean survival drama is officially making its way into hip-hop, with Soulja Boy becoming the first rapper to release a song about the program.

Big Draco’s new single “Squid Game” is officially available now, showcasing the rapper’s skills over the suspenseful score. Soulja Boy references one of the games played in the show, Red Light Green Light, and says he’ll “slap a n***a like Squid Game,” much like we saw when Gi-hun, the main character, played the introductory game in the subway station.

Check out Soulja Boy’s “Squid Game” below and get ready for dozens of more songs like this in the coming weeks.

Quotable Lyrics:

.762 hit all in the membrane
Get to poppin’ shit like the Squid Game
Send a hundred shots, send ’em in sync
They run up the racks, they got rich again

Fetty Wap Announces New Album “The Butterfly Effect” Dropping On October 22

Few artists have gone on the type of run Fetty Wap went on in 2015.

With tracks like “Trap Queen,” “679,” “My Way” and it’s Drake remix, “Again” and “RGF Island” headlining his self-titled album Fetty Wap, the New Jersey rapper dominated the rap game, both on SoundCloud and in the mainstream. Everywhere you went, somebody was playing Fetty Wap and more often than not, everybody at the function knew all the words.

In the following years, however, Fetty retreated out of the limelight and in the wake of a 2019 Las Vegas arrest for assaulting three hotel employees and recently losing his four-year-old daughter, the 30-year-old had not dropped an album since his 2015 ascension to greatness.

That will change soon.

After posting a series of Instagram photos captioned “10.22.21” over the past couple of days, Fetty Wap revealed that his second studio album The Butterfly Effect will be dropping next week on October 22.

Accompanied by a butterfly emoji and the message, “Y’all ready ?,” it’s clear that Fetty has some heat in store and is ready for us to hear it. No tracklist or singles have been released just yet but it’ll be interesting to see if the buzz Fetty had back in 2015 will come back at all. Wap has dropped a handful of mixtapes in the years since Fetty Wap, including three in 2020 (Trap & BBig Zoovie and You Know The Vibes) but nothing has come close to his peak of six years ago.

Keep an eye out for The Butterfly Effect when it drops next Friday and let us know what you’re expecting from Fetty Wap down in the comments.

Wale Blasts Fan Who Said MMG Compromised His Talent & Creativity

Wale never hesitates to mix it up on Twitter.

A renowned Twitter arguer, the 37-year-old rapper always makes sure to get whatever he’s feeling off his chest. Whether it’s about his place in hip-hop or his perception of another rapper’s social justice activism, Wale makes his thoughts and feelings known and has never been afraid to respond to fans he feels are out of pocket.

Yesterday, just nine days ahead of the October 22 release of Folarin 2, one fan decided it was a good idea to get a couple tweets off about how MMG compromised Wale’s creativity and artistic integrity.

Ethan Miller/Getty Images

“@Wale had so much potential man it almost hurts the way business is run, nobody wanna sell their soul or their creativity for a platform..but choices be so limited, @SavorySoul_ tweeted.

Three minutes later, the Twitter bout was on.

“Y’all wild,” Wale responded in a quote tweet.

“@Wale you was my fav. Rapper back in the day dude, this aint no shade..i just feel like MMG compromised your real talent and creativity and I know you couldn’t do shit about that, I get it..but your lyrics inspired I dont see that anymore, hopefully Folarin 2 will be that again,” @SavorySoul_ shot back.

“I wrote some of the best songs of my life wit MMG. U just made this up . But I luv u . See u 10-22 #Folarin2 brought to u by the UNTOUCHABLE Maybach Music,” Wale answered, showing a ton of love for the Rick Ross-lead Maybach Music Group.

The twitter user responded with a lengthy explanation, writing “I dont think the MMG projects had depth like he did before MMG, no, im not saying they had no substance at all..and you not suppose to stay the same, we change all the time and gotta grow with our music, I just didn’t see that same creativity,” and Wale ended the back-and-forth with a condescending closing statement.

“Imma let u have it.. this really not the super Hiphop take u think it is . Golden salvation bricks dc or nothing .. all of them under MMG . This take stinks . But ur entitled to ur opinion .”

Despite letting @SavorySoul_ off easy with his dignity still intact, Wale telling a fan “This take stinks” is objectively hilarious. Twitter arguments are a big reason why certain fans like or dislike Wale but it’s hard not to laugh at something like this.

Let us know what you think of Wale’s Twitter spat down in the comments and keep your eyes out for Folarin 2 when it drops on October 22.

Rissa Fam Blasts Lakeyah After Her Disrespectful Breakfast Club Interview

QC femcee Lakeyah has made a huge splash on the mainstream Hip-Hop scene this year. In addition to being one of the 2021 XXL Freshmen, the Milwaukee-born artist has also been steadily releasing projects, from In Due Time April to My Time last month. To celebrate all her newfound success, Lakeyah recently paid a trip to The Breakfast Club, and during her interview, she touched on the early stages of her career, when she was a part of a rap duo called BTM.

As fate would have it, BTM — which consisted of Lakeyah and fellow Milwaukee artist Rissa Fam — parted ways after gaining some local notoriety, and the former went on to get a record deal with Quality Control. There previously didn’t seem to be any beef between Lakeyah and Rissa Fam, but that all may be changing due to the disrespectful nature of the “Female Goat” artist’s comments.

Angela Yee asked the rising rapper what made her go solo, and Lakeyah responded by saying, “No cocky stuff, but I was the better one. Everybody kept putting us against each other. I wanted to branch off by myself. And she had went off to college too, like she was in there, sorority and everything.”

Charlamagne followed up by asking if she and Rissa Fam were still cool, and Lakeyah replied, “Yeah, but she stays in Milwaukee. I got a whole other life going on.”

Rissa Fam apparently caught wind of Lakeyah’s shady comments on The Breakfast Cluband she took to Instagram to address the situation with BTM and her relationship with Lakeyah. “Before anybody try to say ‘she doing this cus she on now,’ nah,” Rissa Fam wrote. “Y’all ain’t ever seen me d!ck suckin. I wasn’t even gonna entertain this and honestly haven’t for years. but I’m disappointed now cus damn @lakeyah , that’s how you feel? Just straight shit on me? crazy cus I still support you”

“I ain’t ever said nun bad about you even when the whole city turned they back on you,” Rissa Fam continued. “I was the first one to put you in the studio did you forget? I came up with BTM, I never begged you to keep fwm. the last thing you said to me when we fell out!! was “Ian begging no b!tch to be my friend” and you know I ain’t either. I ain’t ever clout chase you. I still make music boss and you KNOW this.

See Rissa Fam’s full post below, and let us know in the comments if you think that her reaction to Lakeyah’s Breakfast Club interview is valid.

Rory & Mal Make Major Announcement After Splitting From Joe Budden

As part of the Joe Budden Podcast, Rory Farrell and Jamil ‘Mal’ Clay became two of the most entertaining music podcasters in the country. After their shocking split from the show earlier this year, they returned with their own podcast, which they fully owned the rights to. On Thursday, they announced that they will be moving to SiriusXM under a new deal, which allows them to keep ownership of the show.

Signing with SiriusXM’s Stitcher through the More Sauce label, the first episode of Rory and Mal’s new show will be released on November 2. New installments of the show will be uploaded every Tuesday and Friday.

The podcasting team spoke to Vulture about the new deal.

“I feel like podcasting has become pretty static and a little oversaturated, where everyone is just setting up microphones and talking about the same thing every single day,” said Rory. “It’s become, like, the new mixtape or the new merch line.”

He continued, “I think the whole world saw what Mal and I stood for, and where our heads were as far as what we were going to tolerate and not tolerate. We weren’t just going to do a deal just to do a deal. We’ve publicly turned down more money than most podcasters have ever dreamed to see. So we’re not doing something unless it’s a deal that’s fair.”

Congratulations to Rory and Mal on the new deal. Will you be checking out their podcast on SiriusXM?

Young Thug Issues Warning To Lil Baby’s Opps

It is no secret that Young Thug was fundamental in getting Lil Baby’s rap career off the ground.

Everyone knows the story. Baby was in the streets of Atlanta and Thugger paid him to start rapping. The 30-year-old YSL leader saw Lil Baby’s potential and couldn’t stand by and let it go to waste so he did something about it. And as Thugger noted in a recent Complex story, it wasn’t an inspiration situation. He literally forced Lil Baby into the rap game.

Kevin Winter/Getty Images

“It’s not like me being like, ‘Wayne made me want to rap,'” he said. “I made Lil Baby rap.”

That was obviously the right decision. Since dropping his first projects in 2017, Lil Baby has become one of the most prolific rappers in the game and has ascended into the highest echelon of modern hip-hop.

Despite his rise to stardom, however, Young Thug is still there for Baby.

Taking to IG stories to let every one of his 8.8 million followers how it is on his side, Thugger penned a simple message: “If you @lilbaby opp, u def mine..”

Exactly who Jeffrey was talking to is unclear but whoever it is, they’re going to have to deal with Young Thug if they come for Lil Baby. And after the Slime Season rapper made it clear he will not back down from anybody, including Kanye West and the president of the United States, it’s fair to assume that he means exactly what he says.

It’s always been apparent that Young Thug thinks the world of Lil Baby and this quick IG story is just more confirmation that he will do whatever it takes to keep the Harder Than Ever rapper unscathed and on the path towards greatness.

Young Thug’s new album, PUNK, is set to drop tomorrow on October 15 but even on the eve of arguably his most-anticipated project, he’s still looking out for Lil Baby.

Check out PUNK when it comes out at midnight and let us know what you think of Thugger saying Lil Baby’s opps are his opps in the comments below.

Snoop Dogg Reveals New Album “Algorithm” Release Date

Snoop Dogg is one of the most legendary active rappers in the world, and he’s not slowing down. At 49-years-old, the Doggfather continues to be a leading member of the West Coast rap scene, with artists all over the world looking at his discography for inspiration. While his release activity may have slowed down slightly in recent years, Snoop’s output this year has been commendable, and he’s about to come through with another full-length project.

Earlier this year, Snoop released his eighteenth studio album From tha Streets 2 tha Suites, and he’s about to follow up after a few short months with his nineteenth album, titled Algorithm.

The rapper was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon a few weeks ago to promote the upcoming release, which he has also been teasing on social media. In addition to the rumors that Eminem could be featured on the tracklist, Snoop has seemingly already confirmed a few artists that have recorded feature verses for Algorithm, including Benny The Butcher, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, and more.

The new album will be coming out on November 12, and it marks Snoop’s first release since joining Def Jam as an executive a few months ago

Check out the cover art for Algorithm below, as well as a teaser. Are you looking forward to Snoop’s next project?

Fat Joe Clarifies DaBaby & 2Pac Comparison, Says “No One Will Ever Be Tupac Shakur”

It seems like every week now we get an IG Live video of Fat Joe explaining something. From breaking down his Verzuz battle with Ja Rule to letting the world know that Ja was the “Drake before the Drake,” it feels like we have gotten a weekly video of Joe sitting in front of his Big Pun mural explaining the *actual* meaning of something he said or did.

This week is no different.

After an appearance on Big Tigger’s Rap City revival special Rap City ’21, during which the “Lean Back” rapper said that DaBaby is the 2021 version of Tupac Shakur, the conversation surrounding the comparison was loud enough to get Joe back in front of the camera.

Starting out by saying that he wasn’t taking anything back, Fat Joe broke down his thought process.

“I’m not making excuses, I’m not saying I’m sorry,” Crack started. “I got put in the hot seat, unorthodox and I’m trying to help my brother revive Rap City.”

Continuing on to explain that there will never be an exact comparison to 2Pac, Joe contextualized his Rap City statement and talked about the reality of the situation.

“I knew Tupac Shakur in real life. Not as a mythical person. I knew the man in real life,” Joe said. “He was the realest rapper ever. So now when I think Pac, not just musically or whatever the case may be … I’m thinking DaBaby a real one. Certified real one, whether you like him or you don’t like him or whatever, I believe he lives what he raps. And that’s very much like Tupac.”

DaBaby, who drew the ire of the internet and multiple communities of people after going on a homophobic rant at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival back in July, has been thrown back into the limelight as Dave Chappelle used his “cancelling” as a cornerstone of his argument against cancel culture in his most recent special The Closer

Despite Chappelle’s commentary and Fat Joe’s eyebrow-raising comparison, the Bronx legend made it very clear that, even though he brought the ‘Pac conversation to the table, DaBaby is not the “California Love” rapper.

“Is he Tupac Shakur?,” Joe asked bluntly. “No. No one will ever be Tupac Shakur.”

What do you think of Fat Joe’s explanation of his DaBaby/2Pac comparison? Let us know in the comments.

Swae Lee Has His Eyes On Lizzo’s Half-Naked Body

Cardi B had her birthday party this past weekend, inviting a bunch of her celebrity friends to celebrate with her, including Teyana Taylor, Normani, Winnie Harlow, and more. Lizzo arguably stole the show though, arriving in a see-through dress with her curves on display. People have been reacting to Lizzo’s risqué look on social media, and other celebrities are losing their cool over her dress.

As the world continues to share its thoughts on Lizzo’s see-through dress, Swae Lee has officially given his opinion on the matter, seemingly shooting his shot at the 33-year-old pop star.

Joking that she “flew under the radar” at Cardi B’s party, Lizzo shared a gallery of nipple-bearing pictures from the event, which Swae Lee couldn’t get enough of. Sharing the glittery photos, Lizzo earned a response from the Rae Sremmurd frontman, who sent her three eye emojis and two heart-eyed emojis. Clearly, he was a fan of the look.

Swae’s comment comes a few days after Lizzo linked up with Chris Brown at an event, telling the singer that she’s his biggest fan, which sparked some backlash given Chris’ history. Swae did famously sing that he has “no type” and that “bad bitches” is the only thing he likes, so it makes complete sense why he would gravitate towards Lizzo.

Check out her new pictures below, as well as Swae’s reaction.

Lil Kim’s “Husband” Mr. Papers Trolls 50 Cent With “All Things Fall Apart” Memes

He may have deleted his post about Lil Kim, but 50 Cent is feeling the wrath of Mr. Papers. Fif has often cracked jokes at the expense of his peers, but Lil Kim has made it clear that she does not appreciate his antics. Back in July, 50 Cent shared a meme about the pint-size Rap icon, and she quickly reacted, suggesting that he has been in his feelings after she rejected him years ago.

That exchange did not keep the Power mogul from targeting Lil Kim once again and this time, she once again didn’t hold back. “Can we say obsessed with Kimmie much… Keep ’em coming boo boo only let’s me know I’m on ur brain 24/7 I love it!”

She also added, “Get off my p*ssy Curtis… P.S. why do I feel like im in a lesbian quarrel didn’t know I had a girlfriend named Curtis… somebody crushin hard we’ll get thru this babes.”

Now, Kim’s “husband” Mr. Papers has entered the chat with a few jabs of his own. He shared images from All Things Fall Apart, the 2011 film starring Fif. At the time, 50 Cent dropped over 50 pounds for the role and over the years, it has been the go-to joke for the Rap mogul’s foes.

“Old man lost all that weight for nothing [popcorn emoji],” Mr. Papers wrote in the caption to a meme that reads, “Remember when 50 cent loss all that weight to play a cancer patient and STILL nobody saw the movie.” He wasn’t quite finished, because Papers also uploaded a scene where Fif’s character, Deon, was having a heart-to-heart moment with Bee, portrayed by legendary actress Lynn Whitfield. In the clip, Deon is seen crying about his illness.

“Now this sh*t is funny old man @50cent,” Papers added. His comment sections have been a mixed bag. Check out his posts below.
