R&B Artist Nevaeh Jolie Comes Out As Trans, Changes Pronouns To He/Him

Nevaeh Jolie, a rising R&B singer best known for the song “Screwed Up” with A Boogie wit da Hoodie, has officially come out as a transgender man. Nevaeh told fans on Tuesday following National Coming Out Day, announcing that he will be using he/him pronouns from now on.

It’s National coming out day, 🙂 nice… well… for a while now I’ve been afraid.. for a long time I would pray my thoughts would lessen, I would fall to the floor and cry and ask God why… was it ever going to stop?” wrote Nevaeh on Instagram. “I would talk to myself in public just to calm my anxiety, have to run to the restroom and check in with the version of me I felt no one else could see… even though I never felt like I wasn’t myself, engaging with ppl, I just knew nobody knew what I thought of myself when I looked in the mirror. And why I was so sad. I saw a boy. In a girls body. Who was hiding and doing a good job at it… but there would also be times I just felt like everyone around me knew my secret.

I created a version of myself that was toxic, I demonized myself, and convinced myself I’d never be able to love. After moving away from home and just experiencing the world and how my dysphoria (before I even knew what that was) worsened, I finally did What I was dreading … I looked up the word ‘transgender’. From there I dived into so many stories and cried so much I could feel so much more than I ever had. I had to come to terms with myself. And talk to God , thought if I just came out to my immediate circle it would be fine it would be cool maybe even eventually it would go away…”

Nevaeh announced that he will be starting hormone therapy in the next few days. He also ended the message by signing off as simply “Nevaeh. The mf playa.” Some fans believe that he will be dropping the “Jolie” from his name as a result.

Kelly Price Updates Fans On Health: “I Thank God For Another Chance”

Kelly Price provided an update on her health status for fans on Instagram, this week, saying that she’s  “getting stronger every day” and gave thanks to God. Price famously battled a serious case of COVID-19, earlier this year, that resulted in her family believing she had gone missing.

“Sis is following dr’s orders,” Price wrote in her IG update. “Sis is getting stronger everyday. Sis is working hard to get back to the music. Sis is focused. Sis is eliminating stress from everywhere and everyone who presents it no matter who they are. Sis is working hard to be better than I was before COVID, before the pandemic, before the deaths and the losses, before the heartbreaks and the pain. Sis will be better than she was before the craziness.”

Price, who was reported missing to police by her family, confirmed she was safe and recovering at a private location in September.

She continued: “I thank God for another chance at life. I thank God for everyone who ‘gets it’. I even thank God for those who don’t get it, those who insult me and those who judge what they know nothing about…you have a role in what propels me to chapter next as well. Everyone can have their opinion but God has the final say! #ChapterNext is being written now. Sis is writing the next chapter.”

50 Cent Says He Was Paying $800 Rent With $38 Million In The Bank

Despite *maybe* not holding up musically over time (outside of Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, of course) 50 Cent has turned himself into a business mogul.

Dating back to 50’s mid-2000s deals with Reebok and Vitamin Water, it has been crystal clear that 50 knows exactly how to use his celebrity to turn a massive profit. Even in 2007, when Kanye West blew out of the water with sales during their Graduation/Curtis competition, the “In Da Club” rapper knew exactly how to use the hype surrounding his and Kanye’s head-to-head to move more copies than he would have without the feud. And today, as 50 serves as executive producer for Starz shows Power and BMF, the rap-game-veteran keeps his name in the news with internet feuds and little jabs here and there, while the hype for his programs grows larger than ever.

But it’s well-documented that 50 is a businessman outside the realm of celebrity, and in a recent interview with Brian J. Roberts, the 46-year-old detailed a time he was absolutely balling but living very regular.

“My first run, the Rock The Mic tour, I came back, I had $38 million in my account,” 50 told Roberts. “And all I had was a two-bedroom apartment that was $800 a month. So if you don’t spend it, you know the IRS is gonna take it. So I needed the expenses. So I ended up buying Mike Tyson’s home in Farmington.”

What do you think of 50 paying just $800 in rent when he had $38 million in the bank? Check out his full interview with Roberts below and let us know in the comments.

Jazz Cartier Shows Off Parking Tickets, A Power Drill, & Tennis Balls On “In My Bag”

Toronto rapper Jazz Cartier is fresh off the release of his latest studio album The Fleur Print, which arrived last month with features from Buddy, KYLE, Cousin Stizz, and more. He’s well-known for his songs “Dead Or Alive” and “TEMPTED,” and on the latest episode of In My Bag, the 28-year-old showed off some of the essentials that he keeps with him all the time.

The new episode of In My Bag is officially live, and it features none other than Jazz Cartier, who definitely had an eclectic mix of items in his Louis Vuitton backpack. Noting that this was one of his travel bags, Jazz started off by showing love to the Toronto Blue Jays, his hometown baseball team, pulling out a cap from his bag. He also argued the importance of dental hygiene, showing off his Listerine spray and Plackers floss.

Some of the strangest things inside of the rapper’s bag were a container of tennis balls — because, if you didn’t know, Jazz Cartier loves to play tennis for leisure — a power drill, an assortment of parking tickets that he’s collected over the months, and more. Of course, he’s also got some essentials including vitamins, a scarf for his head, water, hand sanitizer, and his phone.

Check out the latest episode of In My Bag with Jazz Cartier above to see what he keeps with him at all times.

Don Toliver Reveals That He Wrote “No Photos” For Pop Smoke

Don Toliver, fresh off of the release of his new album, Life of a DON, says that he originally wrote his track, “No Photos,” for the late rapper, Pop Smoke. Toliver discussed writing the song in a new interview with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden.

After speaking about how excited he is to begin touring and performing the album live, Toliver is asked which songs, in particular, he is looking forward to performing.

“I want to say ‘No Photos,’ man,” Toliver responded. “I just turn into a whole another animal when it drop. I turn into a whole another human being when that song drops.”

He then revealed how the song was meant for Smoke: “Actually, yeah, man. Crazy story about No Photos, I was actually trying to write that for Pop Smoke, man, and I never got to go to the recording shoot that he, I think he held it in Cancun or something for a second. I forgot where he was at. But I written that for Pop Smoke man in the hopes that he’d either get on it or take it and do whatever he wanted to do with it. So that song, really, it means a lot, man. And it’s definitely one of my most … It’s like a real turn up track. Real deal turn up.”

Stephen A. Smith Responds To Kyrie Irving’s IG Live Statements On “First Take”

Over the last few months, news on Kyrie Irving and his vaccination status have lit up the entire basketball world, as the NBA nears its October 19th tip-off. TV personalities such as Stephen A. Smith, along with former players like Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Oakley, and more, have been upfront with their criticisms on how Kyrie has handled the ongoing situation, as a member of the Brooklyn Nets.

Analysts like Stephen A. and others have often highlighted the potential repercussions of Irving’s decision to not get the COVID-19 vaccine, as the star guard is currently set to miss the entire upcoming season if he doesn’t comply with the NBA’s new vaccination mandates.

However last night, as we reported, Irving responded to fans and the public at large, via Instagram Live, where he shared his perspective and detailed the unfair narratives he believes that critics and the media are saying about him, because of his decision.

“To continue to play with my name. To continue to play with my image. To continue to paint me in a certain type of way, without me speaking? These dudes are puppets,” Irving said on social media. “Like you’re going on TV speaking out stuff that my family has to see…They’re calling me unintelligent. Calling me all these different types of names, and they will never say it to my face.”

He continued, “I stand for so many things bigger than this game. And right now, it’s not just about the game of basketball its about helping your fellow human being understand that they have a choice.

I’m thinking logically, I’m not thinking with emotions. I’m going to keep saying that because you gotta make these convictions yourself, like I gotta make these myself… It’s not always about the money, it’s about choosing what’s best for you.”

Irving finished saying, “I’m not going to be used as a person in this agenda. It should not be divided amongst all of us, it should just be understood and respected.”

This morning on ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith, one of Irving’s known critics, defended himself and made clear his stance on Kyrie. Explaining that vaccination statuses and specifics aside, this situation only further highlights a familiar pattern concerning an unreliable superstar.

“The one consistent common denominator that is inescapable is A.) Kyrie Irving is a distraction. B.) It usually involves him missing time on the job, which he signed up to do. He encouraged other people to do. Which he’s getting $35 million a year to play. These are all the things that I’m pointing to.”

Which side do you agree with? Check out the entire responses from Stephen A. and Kyrie Irving, below.

RINI’s ‘Constellations’ Is A Love Story To Die For And One That’s Almost Too Good To Be True

The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow, and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.

RINI deserves to be championed for the way he writes about love. The 23-year-old Australian-born singer released his official debut album, Constellations, this past Friday, three years removed from his beautiful 2018 EP, After The Sun. Both projects focus on the dealings that occur after sundown, but Constellations takes an out-of-this-world touch to RINI’s music, offering a beautiful love story that any hopeless romantic would die for 00 even though it seems far too good to be true. The young singer also receives help from Wale, a wordsmith certified to speak about the ups and downs of love, and Maeta, a newcomer who also has a fresh takes on romance to share.

Constellations leans heavily on brute honesty. RINI shows no fear, with the confidence that the woman he desires so much is the one. It’s no surprise that he lays all his cards face-up before her. “Red Lights,” the first song of the album, evokes the hair-pulling wait that occurs en route to a new flame. It’s clear that the relationship is new and fresh as his eagerness makes a routine stop at a red light far more grueling than usual. Backed by production that amplifies RINI’s lusty cries, you can feel his urge to cut corners and break rules to reach his desired destination.

Behind this song’s literal meaning comes a metaphor as well. The “red lights” RINI bemoans also signify the necessary breaks one should take as a relationship grows. RINI obeys these procedures, going from the realization of falling in love on “Over Some Wine” and “Butterflies” — so much so that it even surprises himself — to surefire commitment on “For Days” and “Craving.” RINI trusted the process and it got him all he wanted and more.

An impressive aspect of the album is RINI’s ability to spend so much time on the “cloud nine” period of love without sounding redundant. From “Butterflies” to the outro track of Constellations, RINI falls down a neverending tunnel of love. It helps that he also slightly pivots his focus through each track. “Mimosa” and “Need It” present a warm yearning for his partner’s return during their time apart while “Bedtime Story” begs to make their moments of intimacy last forever. “Talk To Me,” as on “Out Of The Blue,” seeks the reassurance to confirm he’s that he’s not the only one head-over-heels four times over in this relationship. Listeners are given just enough to understand nearly all of RINI’s feelings in romance without becoming suffocating.

It makes perfect sense that RINI named his debut Constellations. The way he presents it through the album’s 12 songs, love is as beautiful as the stars in the sky. In both cases, when you truly fall for it, you’ll crave its return throughout the day, immerse yourself in its beauty at nightfall, and dread its departure as the sun returns to begin the next day. He also believes love’s best moments occur once the sun goes down. Whether it’s the vulnerability that the darkest hours present or the inactive state of the world that allows for uninterrupted intimacy, it’s ironically the time where his romance blooms.

Constellations is out now via Warner Records. Get it here.

Baby Rich Delivers A Polished ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘No Chances’

In a bouncy performance of his song “No Chances” for UPROXX Sessions, Alabama-born newcomer Baby Rich switches from a smooth, staccato flow to melodic crooning and back as he details all the chances that he won’t take in a relationship. From the lyrics on the swooning chorus, Rich’s philosophy would seem to be “money before women,” while the rapid-fire verses explain exactly why he feels that way.

While he’s not a super well-established face yet, fans attending DDG‘s currently ongoing tour with Kevin Gates can catch Baby Rich as his opening act. Born in Birmingham, Baby Rich has since relocated to Los Angeles and signed with DDG, who appears on another of Rich’s singles, “Simon Says.”

Still at the outset of his career, Rich has all the potential to become a breakout star in his own right with DDG’s guidance and the increased exposure from accompanying his mentor on tour. He’s already adopted DDG’s approach of video logging his experiences on tour, sharing with fans on his YouTube channel. You can even catch a glimpse of him recording his UPROXX Sessions performance in one.
