Pras’s Favorite Fugees Memory Involves Lauryn Hill Working On “Killing My Softly”

They kicked off their reunion tour with a surprise show at the  Global Citizen Festival in New York City last month and fans were thrilled to see The Fugees together onstage. There have been rumored ups and downs relationally, but Pras, Wyclef Jean, and Ms. Lauryn Hill’s classic Hip Hop trio is a stapled favorite among fans of the genre.

It has been 25 years since The Fugees released their sophomore album The Score—a record that would also, sadly, prove to be their last. Pras revisited those moments in the limelight with his friends and collaborators in an interview with Vulture where he spoke of his favorite Fugees memory.

“I remember Ms. Hill singing ‘Killing Me Softly’ in the basement, and it was so funny because it was one of the hottest summers, New York in 1995,” he recalled. “People were dying because it was so hot. We were really broke at that time. So we had the air conditioner in the basement. It blew cool air when it’s cold outside. When it’s hot out, it blows hot air. Psychologically, it still feels like it’s cooler. I just remember this hot ass air.”

“It was, like, 102 degrees outside, and Ms. Hill is doing the background vocals on ‘Killing Me Softly.’ It was just kind of the way she was hearing the harmonies,” Pras continued. “We were playing back Roberta Flack’s album. [Ms. Hill] was like, ‘Oh, she’s doing this key right here. Let me go back and do that.’ And she’d go back and do it. That’s how she stacked the harmonies. Yo, it was like poetry in motion.”

Lil Nas X has had quite the year so far in 2021. Between his music, performances, awards, moments on social media, and more, the singer has remained one of music’s most popular names. The fifteen-track release was highlighted by No. 1 singles “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Industry Baby” as well as appearances from Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow, Elton John, and Doja Cat. A month after sharing the album, Lil Nas X returned home to Atlanta where he was greeted by a ceremony to celebrate the album.

Eve lives with her family in London and was scheduled to make her way back to the States for Verzuz. However, the baby news derailed her plans.

“I was supposed to fly to Miami and at the last minute. I didn’t. I had to tell Swizz and he was like, ‘All good sis, we got you,'” Eve told The Breakfast Club. “Of course, my brother, I love him so much. I was stressed out. I was like, ‘Am I standing too much?’ I kept thinking about the baby.”

I don’t know, it’s my first kid.” Eve has long spoken about her desire to have her own child and even stepped away from her hosting gig on The Talk in order to dedicate her time to expanding her family.

HER Gets Lost In The Soothing Sounds Of Her Studio In Her ‘For Anyone’ Video

Nearly fives years after she made her debut with her first EP, H.E.R. Volume 1, HER finally released her first full-length album, Back Of My Mind, back in June, with features from Lil Baby, Chris Brown, Yung Bleu, Cordae, YG, Ty Dolla Sign, DJ Khaled, and Bryson Tiller. Now four months later, she’s dropped the video for one of its stand-out tracks, “For Anyone.” It’s a simple one, finding the singer getting comfortable in her studio while she gets lost in the soothing and warm sounds of the record.

The video arrives as HER is currently in the middle of her Back Of My Mind Tour. The shows feature Tone Stith as her opening act for a string of performances that lasts just under three weeks. So far she’s held performances in Tennessee, Texas, and Massachusetts, with stops in Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Illinois, and Michigan remaining. Next year, HER will join Coldplay on their Music Of The Spheres World Tour, which runs from March to September 2022

Elsewhere, HER recently joined Kane Brown for their collaboration “Blessed & Fire” and recruited Lil Durk to remix her “Find A Way” track with Lil Baby.

Ruby Rose Slams “Batwoman” Over Toxic Environment, Warner Bros. TV Claps Back: Report

Following her mysterious exit from Batwoman last year, Ruby Rose is now unleashing about her time on set. After only one season, Rose shared in May 2020 that she would no longer don the latex suit on the CW series. There wasn’t much sai about her departure at the time, but this week, the actress has gone back and forth with Warner Bros. Television.

“I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season,” the actress said in a statement last year. “This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.”

Now, Rose has reportedly accused the cast, production, CW, and Warner Bros. Television of facilitating an unsafe work environment. “Please to my dear fans, stop asking if I will return to that awful show,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “I wouldn’t return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head.”

Rose noted that an accident on set left a production assistant severely injured and now she is a quadriplegic. “They tried to blame it on her being on her phone,” said Rose. “Her accident occurred because our show refused to shut down when everyone else did because of Covid.” Rose also accused her co-star of injuring a stunt double and alleged that her peers complained about her, forcing her off of the series.

Warner Bros. Television, however, issued a statement of their own, denying Rose’s allegations. They called her account of events “revisionist history” and stated that she was axed after “multiple complaints about workplace behavior.” Rose’s co-star Dougray Scott also refuted her allegations.

“I absolutely and completely refute the defamatory and damaging claims made against me by her; they are entirely made up and never happened,” he said.

Kodak Black Reacts To Viral Teen Who Married Godfather: “It Could Be True Love”

A couple has gone viral and their story of romance has not been well-received. Florida often steals headlines with its outrageous stories, but this time, the marriage between 61-year-old Michael Haugabook and his 18-year-old goddaughter Deja has been the talk of the internet. Their tale has been debated across several social media platforms as people have gone on to post pictures of their wedding as well as images from Deja as a young child with her godfather-turned-husband.

Michael has faced accusations of grooming the teen throughout her life and as people weigh the appropriateness of their relationship, Kodak Black has hopped into the discussion with a revelation of his own.

The Florida rapper is known to post-and-delete, but his fans are quick on the draw when it comes to grabbing screenshots. Kodak reportedly reshared an image of the Haugabooks’ story and added that his family went through a similar situation.

“SMH my daddy did this same sh*t,” wrote the rapper. “Left us to start another family with his goddaughter, I was about 9. But I ain’t judging nobody. To each’s own. It could be true love.” Not many people have agreed with Kodak but there are those that give him their co-sign.

Yaya Mayweather Faces 20 Years In Prison Over YoungBoy BM Stabbing: Report

As NBA YoungBoy waits to hear whether or not a court will allow him to spend his pre-trial days in Utah, Yaya Mayweather is facing a court battle of her own. The daughter of boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has had an on-again-off-again relationship with the rapper and earlier this year, they welcomed Kentrell Gaulden Jr. into the world. Of course, YoungBoy has recently also welcomed several other children with just as many women, leaving fans to question the status of his romance with Yaya.

Back in April 2020, shocking news surfaced that Yaya had been arrested after stabbing Lapattra Jacobs, one of YoungBoy’s exes and a mother of one of his children, in the arm. Lapattra has detailed the severity of his injuries, often taking to social media to speak about her physical rehabilitation.

It seemed as if this case was going to fade into oblivion with the help of Mayweather’s high-powered attorneys, but a report on Wednesday (October 20) suggested that this is an uphill battle for the famous celebrity spawn. While Yaya hasn’t openly spoken about the assault allegations, reports have stated that she is facing upwards of 20 years behind bars if convicted.

It is unclear the extent to which Lapattra is cooperating with authorities, if at all. Yaya may have avoided speaking about her case, but she has regularly come forward to support YoungBoy with “Free Kentrell” posts.

Rob Kardashian Begs Court To Keep DCFS Documents Sealed: Report

There was a time when Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna were hoping for their happily ever after, but that has long ended. These exes can’t seem to stay out of court and it usually has to do with their daughter, Dream Kardashian. Rob and Chyna once even had a reality show where they were documenting the evolution of their romance and expected marriage, but they decide not to walk down the aisle.

Their ongoing court battles have reportedly taken a turn recently as reports state that Rob has been doing his best to make sure certain documents remain sealed.

The documents in question are said to be from the Department of Children and Family Services and Radar Online reported that they have seen Rob’s attorney’s requests. The reality star is hoping that a judge keeps information from the DCFS document confidential and “does not want the report unsealed in the civil case.”

Chyna and Rob have fired off scathing accusations about one another; he claims she assaulted him in 2016 while they were living in Kylie Jenner’s home. Chyna reportedly denies the accusation and apparently told the court that she had a report from DCFS in her possession that shows when Rob spoke with them about the incident, he did not reveal that he was assaulted or abused.

The model mogul reportedly believes that her ex wants to keep the documents sealed because he is aware that it will tarnish his case.

Rico Nasty, Danny Brown, and Tank and The Bangas Highlight The Comeback Of The WILD Red Bull SoundClash

For the first time in ten years, Red Bull is returning to the US with their highly unusual, unpredictable and downright intriguing SoundClash concert battle. Think of it as Verzuz, meets a good old fashioned battle of the bands, meets the unforgettable Drake vs Lil Wayne tour of 2014. The 2021 event is taking place in Atlanta, Houston, Nashville and Chicago, and before we go any further, it’s important to understand the fairly insane rules of this function according to the SoundClash site:

The rules of the game are simple: to clash in the name of creating a one-of-a-kind party and score ultimate bragging rights. Over the course of four rounds, each band or artist will play covers, reimagine one of their competitor’s tracks, perform three of their own songs in a comfort-zone stretching new style (Folk? A capella? Electro pop? Why not?), and then finally pull out all the stops in a wildcard finale. (Improvisation? Special guests? On-stage antics? Almost anything is fair game.) At the end of the night, the audience will vote will determine a winner—but not one goes home without having a good time.

Make sense? Two artists on two stages and one winner in each of four cities as determined by the crowd. Here’s the breakdown of who battles who and where:

SoundClash Atlanta goes down on November 30th at The Eastern between Love Renaissance signees Shelley (fka DRAM) and Westside Boogie.

SoundClash Nashville pits “Queens of Gulf Coast Soul” at the Bayou Music Center on December 2nd, with a battle between Tank and the Bangas versus The Suffers.

SoundClash Houston is at Marathon Music Works on December 9th with a showdown between Bren Joy and a TBD opponent.

SoundClash Chicago might be the wildest of the all, with DC’s Rico Nasty facing off against Detroit lifer Danny Brown on December 16th at Radius.

Tickets and more info on each city’s event are available here.
