Officer Who Shot & Killed Atatiana Jefferson In Her Home Gets Trial Date: Report

He was indicted on murder charges back in December 2019 and now the former police officer who shot and killed Atatiana Jefferson has received a trial date. In October 2019, Atatiana was inside of her home in the early morning hours as her eight-year-old nephew was playing video games. The pre-med student did not seem to have any worries, however, one of her neighbors noticed that Atatiana’s door was slightly open.

In turn, the neighbor called the authorities for a welfare check and soon, responding officers descended on the home because they allegedly believed a burglary was in progress. Meanwhile, Atatiana heard people around her home and she believed she was in danger so she retrieved her firearm.

Officer Aaron Dean was reportedly on the scene for just a few minutes before he noticed movement inside of the residence. He opened fire, killing the 28-year-old. The Fort-Worth Star-Telegram now reports that Dean’s trial has been set for January 22. There has been a priority for cases where defendants remain jailed, but the judge, in this case, recognized the urgency to resolve this because it has been pending for two years.

Dean’s trial was supposed to begin today (November 16). Watch a clip from the hearing below.

JoJo Gets Answers From Tinashe & Wale After Questioning Labels Marketing Artists On TikTok

We’re seeing a growing number of artists get their launches after going viral on TikTok these days, and it can be a blessing and a curse. While many unsigned or independent artists have grown fanbases into the millions after having a snippet of their songs circulate on the popular social media platform, major labels artists are also raking in fans and big bucks for their labels.

Record labels are utilizing these social media spaces in their promotions, artist introductions, and rollouts, once again shifting how the game is played. R&B veteran JoJo posed a question about this type of fame growth and marketing over on Twitter, and it prompted responses from several of her peers including Wale and Tinashe.

“Do you think ‘find a way to make your music go viral on tik tok’ is a fair /creative/ effective/ efficient marketing strategy proposal from a record label? Asking for a friend,” she tweeted. Soon, she was hit with hundreds of responses from people who believed that labels are forcing artists to do the jobs of those that represent them.

“Any proposed strategy that relies on you ‘making’ anything go viral is literally lazy,” Tinashe replied. Wale added, “We got the same friend!” suggesting that he may have been told the same thing by a label. Read through a few more reactions below and let us know if this is a formidable strategy or of you believe labels need to work harder for their artists.

Stevie J Accuses Faith Evans Of Cheating On Them Inside Of Their Home

They’ve kept the bulk of their relationship behind the scenes as unfavorable headlines have often surfaced, but Stevie J and Faith Evans’s failed marriage is receiving the trending topic treatment. The longtime friends met way back when during the days of Stevie working as a Bad Boy producer. Faith was, of course, in a relationship with Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace at the time, but all these years later, they found love with each other.

The coupling came as a puzzling surprise to Hip Hop fans but in 2018, the pair reportedly wed in a Las Vegas ceremony. There have been rumors about alleged breakups and news of Faith being arrested due to a domestic violence incident. Still, the couple remained united until news of Stevie J filing for divorce surfaced.

Later, Faith shared videos of her and Stevie doing cartwheels at the beach, and today (November 16), a video of a fight between the two has captivated social media. In the clip, Faith tells Stevie that she hates him as she begs him to move him out of her way and to leave her alone.

“F*ck you, too. I ain’t goin’ nowhere,” Stevie answered. “I hate you, too.” Faith is heard speaking over him, saying, “Leave me alone!” Then, Stevie alleged that Faith cheated on him in their home as he repeatedly called her a “b*tch.” The singer eventually laid down in bed but Stevie wasn’t finished. He hovered over her and asked how she could do something like that to him when all he did was love her.

“Get your hands off of me!” Faith replied. Watch the drama unfold below.

Britney Spears Thanks The #FreeBritney Movement And Teases A Potential Tell-All Interview With Oprah

Brintey Spears has been in high spirits for nearly a week now. After 13 long years, a judge finally ruled that her highly-publicized conservatorship should be terminated. She celebrated the decision on her social media, writing, “Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy. I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever.” Days later, Britney remains all smiles as she took to Instagram to share a longer message and hint at what could come next.

In the video, Britney began by reflecting on the struggles of her conservatorship and what she appreciates the most about her newfound freedom. She then took a moment to thank the #FreeBritney movement for their support. “You guys rock,” she said. “Honestly, my voice was muted and threatened for so long, I wasn’t able to speak up or say anything. Because of you guys and the awareness of kinda knowing what was going on, and delivering that news to the public for so long, you give it awareness to all of them. Because of you, I honestly think that you guys saved my life in a way 100%.”

She continued, “I know there’s a lot of jokes about the #FreeBritney movement — we’re not free, we’re expensive. Okay birdies, I’m expensive too. Anyways, with that said, let’s move forward. God bless you all, we’re gonna have a good year, good Christmas, and rock on!”

In the post’s caption, Britney also hinted at a special tell-all interview in the future. “I might as well do a hint of my thoughts on the gram before I go and set things square on @Oprah,” she wrote. “I mean who knows … I do know how embarrassing is to share the fact I’ve never seen cash or wasn’t able to drive my car …. but honestly it still blows my mind every day I wake up how my family and the conservatorship were able to do what they did to me … it was demoralizing and degrading !!!!”

Travis Scott, Drake, Live Nation, Apple Sued For $750M By 125 Astroworld Victims: Report

By the looks of things, Travis Scott will be facing legal troubles for some time. From one day to the next, the Grammy-nominated rapper went from being one of the top-selling, most sought-after artists in the industry to companies and peers keeping their distance. In total, 10 people have died as a result of the dangerous crowd surge at Scott’s coveted Astroworld Festival, and it has been reported that at least 100 others were injured.

Almost immediately, there was news of lawsuits being filed against Scott, Drake, Apple, and Live Nation, and today (November 16), TMZ claimed that the number of victims looking to take someone to court has increased.

Due to the high-profile nature of this tragedy, victims have been quick to lawyer up. Some attorneys have even resorted to place Astroworld ads on social media to bulk up their client lists, and it has helped build a massive new case against Scott and festival organizers.

The suit, filed by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee, is the first of others to come and places the blame on Travis and concert organizers for negligence in failing to properly plan the concert, train security personnel and host a safe event.

Buzbee is reportedly representing 125 fans in the $750 million lawsuit including the family of 21-year-old Axel Acosta who lost his life in the mayhem. In the suit, it states that Acosta was “crushed” by an “incited, unruly and out-of-control crowd with such force that he could no longer breathe.”

The astronomical $750 million is reportedly slated to cover medical costs, “physical and mental health injuries as well as the loss of life.” Meanwhile, Scott’s attorney told TMZ that the rapper has been holed up in his home since the tragedy and has been reaching out to the families affected by this fatal event.

Safaree Won’t “Attach” His Name To Anyone But His Mother Following Erica Mena’s Post

Following the moment on Livestream where the world witnessed DaniLeigh and DaBaby break down, the singer added a message to her story that Erica Mena seemed to relate to. The post reads: “Men trap women with babies too, stay woke. Especially cuz they know she can not simply walk away from the parenting like he can.” Mena is currently divorcing her estranged husband Safaree Samuels and she reposted the message to her Instagram Story.

Mena and Safaree were recently seen filming for the next edition of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Family Reunionas well as partying it up for her birthday. While there have been reports and social media posts about them being at odds, it looks as if they are at least maintaining a semblance of friendship for the time.

After Mena’s reposted message, Safaree was once again seeing his name trend on timelines. He responded by saying the only person you can “attach” him to is his mother.

“With all due respect please don’t attach me to anybody other than the person I was born with. I love you mommy,” he wrote before adding that he will allow his name to be linked to reggae music. A social media user later asked him about his young children that he shares with Mena.

“Nah my kids ain’t for outside ppl to attach me to. Outsiders need to act like they never knew em becuz they don’t.” Check it out below.

Travis Scott Reportedly Received A $750 Million Lawsuit From Over 125 Astroworld Attendees

While the aftermath of the Astroworld tragedy is still unfolding, Travis Scott and festival organizers just received their biggest punch. According to TMZ, Travis and others were hit with a $750 million lawsuit from more than 125 attendees. The suit was filed by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee and it places blame on Travis and festival organizers for “negligence in failing to properly plan the concert, train security personnel, and host a safe event.”

The family of 21-year-old Alex Acosta, who is one of 10 people who died as a result of the festival, are among the plaintiffs in the lawsuit. Acosta was allegedly crushed by an “incited, unruly and out-of-control crowd with such force that he could no longer breathe.” Buzbee also shared a statement about the high-priced lawsuit, which also names Drake, Apple, Live Nation, and others. “No amount of money will ever make these Plaintiffs whole; no amount of money can restore human life,” he said. “But, the damages sought in this case attempts to fix, help, or make up for the harms and losses suffered by these Plaintiffs — nothing more and nothing less.”

The lawsuit also addresses Travis and Live Nation’s recent decision to offer refunds to those who attended the festival earlier this month, a move legal experts say could waive concertgoers’ right to sue. The lawsuit called it “… a transparent and grotesque effort of the Defendants to limit their liability, after the fact, to the families of those killed or injured.”

Daniel Baldwin Claims Brother Alec Baldwin Is Being Targeted Over Political Views

The shock of what occurred on the set of Rust may have slightly subsided, but behind the scenes, investigators continue to pour over evidence as they piece together how such a tragedy could happen. We have continued to keep you updated on the twists and turns of this story as the public mourns the untimely death of Rust’s director of photography, Halyna Hutchins.

Fingers have been pointed in all directions as people attempt to place blame. For some unknown reason, real live rounds were placed in prop guns instead of dummy rounds, causing chaos, injury, and death.

The film’s armorer who was in charge of the weapons on set has denied culpability and stated through her representative that she is just as stunned as everyone else. Because star and producer Alec Baldwin was the person who pulled the trigger, the acclaimed actor has faced backlash from people calling him a killer or murderer. He has responded by expressing grief and sadness, and it was reported that Hutchins’s husband won’t reportedly name Baldwin as the person at fault.

Alec’s equally as famous brother Daniel Baldwin recently sat down with the Domenick Nati Show and offered his take on his sibling’s scandal.

“Alec has no blame in this at all. The armorer is responsible for the weapons. The actor is an idiot,” said Daniel. “The protocol exonerates Alec of any responsibility at all. The first AD should have witnessed an empty weapon being handed to him or fired the gun himself. I don’t know what caused him to announce ‘cold weapon’ on set. That announcement alone exonerates Alec of any wrongdoing or any responsibility.”

“The initial buck stops with the armorer,” Baldwin said. “You know, Alec’s got the name though. So, let’s blame him because of his political views. He’s a target.” Watch Daniel Baldwin’s interview below. [via]</
