Future Celebrates “Life Is Good” Going Diamond

This week has been very kind to Future. Along with celebrating his 38th birthday with a mafia-themed part and a private Dave & Buster’s party, Future achieved a huge milestone for his 2020 hit single.

Last night, Future’s manager Dwight Elder posted an Instagram story of Future receiving his Diamond plaque for his January 2020 song “Life Is Good” with Drake.

The song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and ended up receiving the remix treatment with Lil Baby and DaBaby added.

“Life Is Good” also was included in Future’s eight studio album High Off Life from last May. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The entire album was certified Platinum in July.

“Life Is Good” was produced by D. Hill, a frequent collaborator of Future and Drake. D. Hill passed away in October, so it is a shame that he was not able to see his most successful song achieve RIAA Diamond status.

In the video Elder posted, it appears that Future and a group of his close friends associated with Freebandz were at dinner, and gifted him the plaque as part of a huge celebration.

This is now Future and Drake’s first collaboration to go Diamond, even though many of their prior hits have achieved multi-Platinum status. Songs like “Jumpman” from their 2015 collaborative album What a Time To Be Alive is 5x Platinum and DS2 hit “Where Ya At” is 4x Platinum.

Future and Drake have solidified themselves as one of the most consistent and compatible duos in the last 10 years of rap.

NBA Youngboy Drops New Clothing Collaboration With VLone

NBA Youngboy’s official clothing brand Never Broke Again just teamed up with popular streetwear merchants Vlone to release a new line of hoodies, shirts, sweats, and balaclavas.

With YB being one of the biggest rappers out right now and A$AP Bari’s Vlone’s popularity among streetwear fans, this collaboration seems like a no-brainer. According to Vlone’s website, the collab comes in celebration of the success of YB’s second studio album Top, which dropped at the foot of last year. Top dominated both the Billboard 200 and the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop album charts upon its releasing, propelling to the top of both charts.

Designed with back and front prints in electrifying shades of green and red, each piece in the line is representative of songs off Top’s tracklist– namely “Dead Trollz”, “My Window”, and “Reaper’s Child”.

“Dead Trollz” is the eleventh track on Top, where YB takes a stab at his enemies (“Haha b*tch, I want you act like you gon’ do somethin’). The “Trollz” tee is meant to represent that, featuring a multicolored graphic of a rabbit with Vlone’s characteristic “V” stamped across the back. “My Window” is Top’s seventh track featuring Lil Wayne, where YB shares stories of his dealings with paranoia (“Who’s that peekin’ in my motherf*ckin’ window?”). The “My Window” tee features a back graphic of YB in black and white. On “Reaper’s Child”, YB goes into even more detail about his lifestyle and upbringing, as well as the impact of fake love on his psyche; the “Reaper’s Child” tee also features a black and white graphic of YB, reminiscent of Top’s cover art with a red Vlone “V” written across his forehead.

Vlone states on their website that their clothing is made with “top quality” materials, featuring immediately recognizable and exclusive prints and designs. The line is up and available now on their website.

Megan Thee Stallion Pulls Out Of AMA’s Performance With BTS

Megan Thee Stallion will not be gracing the stage with South Korean boyband BTS this weekend at the AMAs, citing an “unexpected personal matter” for her absence. Megan Thee Stallion and BTS would’ve made their national television debut performance of their collaboration, “Butter” at the award show but unfortunately, it’ll have to wait. The rapper took to Twitter where she broke the news to her fans.

“Hotties I was so excited to go to the @AMAs and perform with @BTS_official, but due to an unexpected personal matter, I can no longer attend,” Megan tweeted on Saturday. “I’m so sad! I really can’t wait to hit the stage with my guys and perform #BTS_Butter real soon!”

Given that both BTS and Megan Thee Stallion boast incredibly dedicated fanbases, there was surely disappointed that she wouldn’t end up making it to the award show after all. “Butter” dropped towards the tail end of August, just as the summer closed out. The original song is currently nominated for Best Pop Song.

Megan Thee Stallion racked up three nominations at this year’s award show. “Body” is nominated for Favorite Trending Song while her debut album, Good News is up for Favorite Hip-Hop Album. She’s also nominated for Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist alongside Cardi B, Coi Leray, Erica Banks, and Saweetie.

Jadakiss Speaks On Young Dolph’s Death: “We Gotta Keep His Legacy Going”

Last Wednesday, rapper Young Dolph was shot and murdered in his hometown of Memphis, TN. The hip-hop community, both in Memphis and around the globe, has been in deep mourning, remembering Dolph’s contributions to his community through his actions and music.

During his appearance at Reform Alliance and Roc Nation’s job fair at Madison Square Garden, Jadakiss reflected on Dolph’s impact and death, calling for an end to the violence.

“It’s something that we have to put an end to,” he said. “Everybody uses their platform for a lot of different things, but we have to stop killing us. We have to stop immediately. ASAP. Effective-as-of-now. Violence in general — losing so many young, talented brothers and sisters in this Hip-Hop culture, it has to cease at some time or another.”

Dolph was killed in the early hours of Wednesday morning, picking up cookies at the local bakery. He was reportedly planning on giving out Thanksgiving turkeys to the neighborhood later that day. After news that Dolph had been shot spread across social media, hundreds of thousands swarmed online in mourning. Fans and artists alike have been in disbelief that the Dum and Dummer rapper is gone.

Jadakiss said the goal now is to keep his legacy going. “Hopefully we do the best we can for his children, his mother, and his loved ones,” he said. “Let’s keep them in our prayers.” You can watch the full clip of Jadakiss speaking on the situation below.

HotNewHipHop sends our condolences to Young Dolph’s close communities and loved ones. Rest in peace, Dolph.

Sally Sossa Slides Through With New Single, “Eternity”

Texas native Sally Sossa continues to impress her fans with the release of “Eternity,” produced by Tay2x. The track comes in at just over two minutes, and sees the up and coming artist rap about finding her own path in life and learning how to walk it with confidence.

Since the song’s release, Sossa has been blowing up her Instagram with sultry new photos, rocking an all-purple ensemble and hair to match “Eternity”’s artwork. “I’m prolly somewhere ridin in yo city,” she captioned one clip where she also flexes a massive chain and some sparkly nails.

Back in September, the rapper shared her album, Life Of Sossa, featuring an appearance from Lil Durk on “Star Song,” which has since received several remixes. Other noteworthy tracks on the project include “100 Flows,” “Right My Wrongs,” “A Letter To The Streets,” and “Who You Are.”

The 20-year-old’s hard work was also recently noticed by XXL Mag, who revealed that the Houston-born star beat her brother in a rap battle when she was just 11 years old.

Stream “Eternity” below.

Back then I was lost, ain’t know where I was goin’

Found my path and then I walked

I stand on everything that I believe and I was taught

My diamonds drippin’ real water, baby, this ain’t false

Kyle Kuzma Is Sick Of Rappers Dissing NBA Players

Kyle Kuzma has long been the victim of slander. Aside from him though, lots of NBA players have been used as punchlines in lyrics for songs.

Kuzma made this realization on Nov. 19, and tweeted about how these shots from rappers are sickening: “The amount of shade rappers throw at NBA players in their music is sickening lol.”

The replies to the tweet were full of bars from rappers directed at NBA players. Whether it be Tony Snell, Ben Simmons, Paul George, Draymond Green or Kendrick Perkins, every ball player was susceptible.

Benny The Butcher responded to Kuzma’s tweet saying rappers like him usually cite NBA players as inspiration, and will put a Kuzma bar in one of is verses soon: “Yea I admit this look bad. we big y’all up too we jus inspired either way…I got a positive @kylekuzma bar on the way.”

Kyle Kuzma has found a resurgence this season, as his Wizards have started the season well. They currently sit at second place in the Eastern Conference, with Kuzma averaging 13.6 ppg and 9 rpg.

So, while Kuzma is having success on the court, he hopes that rappers could use his name and other NBA players’ names in good faith. It seems that he has already convinced Benny The Butcher to do so.

Perhaps Kyle’s tweet has already brought about change in rappers’ approach to including NBA players in their songs.

Halle Berry Explained Her “Weird” Turn-On To Young M.A. & Twitter Is Obsessed

If you’ve logged into Netflix lately, you may have come across Halle Berry’s latest project – an original film in collaboration with the streaming service called Bruised, which tells the story of an MMA fighter who attempts to restore her glory in the ring after reconnecting with the son she had given up for adoption years before.

Not only is the movie’s plot enticing, but it also happens to have a star-studded soundtrack including songs from artists like Cardi B, Saweetie, the City Girls, and Young M.A., who recently had the opportunity to sit down with Berry and discuss a few things, including their “weird” turn-ons.

“Only ‘cuz you’re asking me,” Berry shamelessly teased the rapper before answering. “I don’t know if this is weird, but I like when you’re kissing someone, and they like, kinda suck the tongue. It might not be weird, but that turns me on.” Before the Catwoman star had even finished her sentence, M.A.’s face was lit up with a smile from cheek to cheek.

“Hello,” the “BIG” recording artist said cheekily. “That’s not weird, that’s not weird. That is absolutely perfect,” she said with a thumbs up. The interaction has earned plenty of hilarious responses from viewers online, including Kid Cudi, who retweeted the clip along with a flirtatious message of his own.

Have you streamed Bruised starring Halle Berry on Netflix yet? If yes, give us a quick review in the comments.

Fenix Flexin Drops Off Vol. 2 Intro

Fenix Flexin has been in go-mode this year. While he officially launched his solo career with his debut project, Fenix Flexin, Vol. 1 earlier this year, he’s already gearing up to come through with a follow up. At the top of October, he teamed up with Louda Lou for their collaboration, “Fire Drill.” Now, he’s back in action with his latest offering, the intro to Fenix Flexin, Vol. 2. Eerie guitar strings and funky 808s lead the production as Flexin details the rise to the top and the “by any means necessary” mentality it takes to get to the bag.

With the new single out now, Fenix Flexin recently promised his fans to deliver a follow-up if the video gets to 100K in 24 hours. The video just hit a bit over 102K, so it looks like fans could expect new music soon.

Check out the record below.
