Young Thug Says Atlanta Is The #1 City In Hip Hop

Atlanta is one of the greatest cities in hip hop.

Over the last thirty years, the A has pumped out more hip hop icons than any other city, and boasts arguably the most impressive lineup in the history of rap music. From Outkast and Goodie Mobb, to Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, Ludacris and T.I., to Future, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Gunna, 21 Savage, all thre Migos and a slew of other hugely-successful rappers, there’s a real argument to be made that Atlanta is the most important city in hip hop history, and according to Thugger, it’s never giving that title up.

At this weekend’s Revolt Summit, the PUNK rapper predicted continued dominance for his home city.

“I don’t see no city taking over Atlanta,” he said. “Because we steady having new artists come from Atlanta, bruh, and we getting bigger and bigger and bigger. The biggest artists that are popping right now are from Atlanta. Because we steady having new artists come from Atlanta, bruh, and we getting bigger and bigger and bigger. The biggest artists that are popping right now are from Atlanta.”

Adding that, in Atlanta, “everybody got hearts, everybody love each other,” and that “It ain’t that many haters,” Thug said artists’ willingness to collaborate on new music is what makes the city successful, and is why artists from there drive trends in both music and fashion.

Thug’s comments on the success of Atlanta comes on the heels on his plans to create Slime City, equipped with multiple homes and a water park, on the 100 acres of land he received for his 30th birthday, and his request for Elon Musk to assist in making the project sustainable.

Kyle Kuzma’s Tweet About NBA Player Bars Leads To Hilarious Compilation

Kyle Kuzma went a bit viral with a tweet just a few days ago in which he lamented about how rappers are constantly violating NBA players in their songs. Referencing athletes is a trope as old as time when it comes to hip-hop music and in recent times, it has only gotten more prevalent, especially as the NBA continues its ascent as the cultural zeitgeist. As you can see from the tweet below, however, Kuzma isn’t always amused.

“The amount of shade rappers throw at nba players in their music is sickening lol,” he wrote.

This led to quite a few bars in his mentions which depict some NBA players in a bad light. From there, one user by the name of @nizzzit posted a 34-second video which was a compilation of some of the vilest bars that have been directed at NBA talent. Some of these were truly disrespectful, however, you couldn’t help but laugh at a good chunk of them.

Pop Smoke saying “break legs like Paul George” was an especially unfortunate reference given the fact George turned his ankle into a 90-degree angle during Team USA training camp a few years ago. SahBabii also had smoke for Ben Simmons saying “he scared to shoot like Ben Simmons, we just checked his stats.” Perhaps the most viral of these bars came from Sada Baby who said “he’s got muscles for no reason, Eric Bledsoe.”

All of these bars are disrespectful in their own unique ways, and with the compilation going viral, other fans decided to join in by sharing their own favorite bars. You can take a look at those, down below.

Sheff G Pleads Guilty To Criminal Possession Of A Weapon, Receives 2-Year Prison Sentence: Report

Alongside Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign, Brooklyn rapper Sheff G has served as one of the faces of New York City’s drill movement.

Unfortunately, for the entirety of his short career, the “Weight On Me” rapper has dealt with legal troubles and has been in and out of jail.

Back in January, Sheff was arrested “during a traffic stop after allegedly being witnessed driving recklessly and without a license plate,” according to Complex. “Upon search of the vehicle, police were said to have found a .45 caliber Glock,” Complex reported, adding that Sheff wrote “NYPD SUCK MY DICK,” on his Instagram story shortly after the arrest.

Complex also reports that on October 20, Sheff G plead guilty to charges of criminal possession of a weapon, and was sentenced to two years behind bars.

The sentencing comes on the heels of another recent report that the “Drum Dummy” rapper is being sued for damages to her vehicle sustained in an accident just before Sheff was stopped by police and arrested.

According to Complex, “Sheff is being sued for having crashed into the front of a Cadillac driven by Alexia Friend” while fleeing the police, and “after running a stop sign, he crashed his vehicle into Friend’s Cadillac before later hitting a tree.”

While it has been confirmed that Sheff G was sentenced to two years in prison, he recently took to Instagram to say that he would be back home soon.

“Freedom Is A Must,” he captioned a photo of himself. “Sending My Love To All My Fans & Supporters I’ll be Bacc Soon.”

What do you think of Sheff G catching a two-year sentence for criminal possession of a weapon? Let us know down in the comments.

YG Is Working To Expand Mental Health Services In Los Angeles

Last Wednesday, YG attended a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of his latest business venture – a collaboration between his TeleHealth Van program and the City of Hawthorne that will work to bring mental health services to underserved communities that are in need of them.

“TeleHealth Van is a service that we created for the people in the inner-cities,” the “Surgery” rapper told TMZ this summer. “It works like—you basically don’t leave your house if you got a mental health situation or got doctors you need to talk to. The van comes to your location and you get in the van—it’s basically like doing a Zoom call. You get in the van and you see your mental health worker or [doctor] over the screen, and y’all have y’all session.”

The 31-year-old teamed up with NFL player Todd Gurley and entrepreneur Dion Rambo to launch TeleHealth Van, which has since expanded its operation to include three more 5G-enabled vans that will provide a wide range of services to the public in underserved areas, including mental health screenings in collaboration with the UCLA Center for Behavioral and Addiction Medicine, as well as assistance with medical insurance submissions.

For Los Angeles residents that can’t afford wifi, or have a poor connection in their home, YG’s program, which works with county and city health departments, clinics, adult centres, and foster care provides, will allow them to virtually connect with medical professionals like never before.

“The city is, for sure, getting involved, getting behind it. Everybody loves they idea. They love the fact that it’s Black people doing something real for the Black community,” he said to TMZ.

Khalid Reveals The Release Date For His New Album, ‘Scenic Drive’

It has been well over two years since the last full-length solo release from El Paso, Texas singer Khalid Robinson, who last dropped an album, Free Spirit, in April of 2019. Understandably, the former teen star’s fans have been anxious for any new information on his forthcoming third album — information that he’s been reluctant to supply. Despite previously calling finishing the album “overwhelming” and saying he was losing passion for it, today, he finally shared all the information his fans could want on a new project, including the project’s title, tracklist, and most importantly, its release date.

The new project will be titled Scenic Drive and it will drop on December 3. Consisting of nine all-new tracks, the album will feature guest appearances from Alicia Keys (with whom Khalid previously collaborated on “So Done” from her 2020 album ALICIA), 6lack and Lucky Daye (on the song “Retrograde”), LA-based singer Quin (who has collaborated with and dates 6lack), Dreamville rapper JID, blooming R&B singer Kiana Lede, OVO dance-pop duo Majid Jordan, and rapper/singer combo Ari Lennox and Smino (on the album’s title track).

“Been waiting for this one and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it,” he wrote in a tweet announcing the new project. While his tweet didn’t cover whether this would be the same project as the previously announced Everything Is Changing, I’m sure fans are more than happy just to be getting a new project at all, whether it’s been renamed or this is just a side project to hold them over. Naturally, the announcement caused quite the stir on Twitter as fans marked their calendars, set their alarm clocks, and prepared to take this long-awaited Scenic Drive.

Wack 100 Breaks Down Partnership With Tekashi 6ix9ine

Earlier this year, many questioned the partnership between Tekashi 6ix9ine and music executive Wack 100.

It wasn’t clear if Wack 100 was managing the “Gummo” rapper or just passing along some advice to the controversial 25-year-old, but what was clear, is that Wack had 6ix9ine’s ear. After reports surfaced that Wack 100 made 6ix9ine upwards of $43 million, and despite 6ix9ine’s pleas for Wack to set up a boxing match with Lil Durk, he steered him away from his beef with the Chicago rapper.

According to Wack himself, he lost some friends due to his relationship with 6ix9ine, and revealed that some big names checked him for the association.

“I’m really not bothered by a lot of people cause I’m really a loner type dude. My close friends have called me and got on me,” he told Bootleg Kev. “The one that got on me the most was Birdman. I’ma dude to keep it one hundred, ain’t nobody bigger than the politics. That’s my brother. But Birdman, outta everybody, got on my ass.”

In a recent appearance on DJ Akademiks’ Off The Record podcast, Wack explained his relationship with 6ix9ine, and said that he had helped him in certain areas, but wasn’t his official manager.

“I’m more of a business partner,” he told Akademiks. “A few things have popped up where I need to assist him, but I’m just more of a business partner.”

Continuing to explain that there are artists that he manages that require his constant assistance, Wack maintained that the majority of the dealings between he and 6ix9ine happen on the business side of things. And if Wack was generating $43 million for 6ix9ine in the matter of two months, it seems that the business side of things is pretty fruitful.

What do you think of Wack 100 saying he and 6ix9ine are just business partners? Let us know down in the comments.

Taysom Hill Signs One-Of-A-Kind Hybrid Contract With The Saints

Taysom Hill has been one of the most versatile players in the NFL over the past few years thanks to the fact that he can play pretty well any position, on offense, and even special teams. While Hill is mostly listed as a quarterback, he can also be a running back, tight end, wide receiver, and even a blocker on special teams. His efforts at these positions have made him a very important player on the Saints, even if he has yet to receive the honor of QB1.

Today, the Saints decided to reward Hill for his efforts with a four-year contract extension that is the first of its kind in NFL history. As Adam Schefter reports, it is loaded with guaranteed money, and it comes with various different salary combinations.

As Schefter explains in the tweets below, Hill will get at least $22.5 million guaranteed. From there, his salary over the next four years will be $40 million if he continues to be a flex player. However, he can make big money if he becomes the starting quarterback. Should he earn QB1 designation, his contract would be worth a total of $95 million if he keeps his spot as starting QB for all four years. Needless to say, his salary could change from week to week.

No NFL player has ever received a contract like this before, so it should be interesting to see if other teams follow suit. It’s definitely a unique precedent that fans should keep an eye on for years to come.

Desiigner Shares New Track “I’m Ready

Desiigner appears to be in a come-back mode these days. The former G.O.O.D. Music signee hasn’t necessarily dropped a full-length album since 2016’s New English, though he’s pushed quite a few singles this year. A few weeks ago, he released “Get Back,” a follow-up to August’s 3 THE HARD WAY.

The Brooklyn rapper returned this week with his latest offering, “I’m Ready.” He reels back on his typical animated delivery and punchy ad-libs for a more melodic record. The soft, airy production is accented with pitched-up vocal samples as the rapper pitches his love interest on his lavish lifestyle.

It looks like “I’m Ready” is the latest in a string of new releases Desiigner is preparing to release in the coming months. Check his new single out below.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m ready, if you ready, we could roll
So many different places we could go
Overseas, and we go shopping to the mall
Baby, thinkin’ you my baby, I just want to give you all

Family Of Man Killed Protecting Fiancé At Astroworld Sues Travis Scott, Live Nation

The family of a man who died protecting his fiancè during the Astroworld crowd surge that left 10 concertgoers dead and hundreds more injured has sued Travis Scott and Live Nation, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The family’s lawsuit alleges that Mirza Danish Baig, 27, died in a tragedy that was “forseeable and brazenly courted,” and that Scott, Live Nation and festival organizers “placed more value on their own financial gain than on the safety of the concertgoers whose money was used to line [their] pockets.”

Chris Simmons, the family’s attorney, said that Baig “sacrificed his life trying to save Olivia from the mayhem of an over-stimulated, unregulated crush of at least 50,000 people,” and that his fiancé and brother Basil, who were injured, “are trying to heal from their physical wounds … but the Baig family and Olivia will never fully recover from the pain of knowing that he suffered such a horrific and preventable death.”

According to the lawsuit, Baig “wrapped his arms around Olivia and tried to lead her to safety,” before the couple was separated and Baig was “trampled to death.”

Baig’s family is reportedly seeking more than $1,000,000 and no less than $200,000,000 in damages, and in the lawsuit, they said they will remember Baig’s heroic actions, but will never forget that the tragedy was horrific and preventable.

“Danish was a beloved son, brother, and partner. He died saving the love of his life, Olivia,” the lawsuit reads. “Olivia and Basil will spend the rest of their lives living with the memory of Danish fighting to save Olivia’s life before losing his own. In time, Olivia and Basil’s physical wounds may heal. But the Baig’s and Olivia will never fully recover from the pain of knowing that their son, brother, and partner suffered a death as valiant as it was horrific.”
