42 Dugg, who recently dodged a 10-year prison sentence, got to celebrate his birthday on Thanksgiving this year, but the Detroit rapper reaped his karma and ended up giving away more gifts than he received.

Dugg partnered with the Pure Heart Foundation, an organization in Detroit that seeks to “embrace children with incarcerated parents and empower them to break the cycle of generational involvement in the criminal justice system,” for a turkey giveaway that benefitted children whose parents are currently imprisoned.

The rapper distributed turkeys to over 100 families on Detroit’s East Side the day before Thanksgiving. He explained to the local news that he recognized that the holidays is an especially tough time without the presence of loved ones. 

“I know this is a tough time for kids. I just want to be a helping hand where ever I can,” said 42 Dugg to Fox2. 

The Detroit native went the extra mile and took the kids on an early holiday shopping spree following the turkey giveaway.

42 Dugg’s good deeds were one of the first of many gracious Thanksgiving contributions from the Hip Hop community.

Fat Joe also spent Thanksgiving Eve by giving back to his Bronx community, joining hands with his borough president to hand out over 1,000 bags of groceries outside of his newest Mott Haven store, Up NYC, which included stuffing, cranberries, rice, and beans to set the dinner table for the holiday.

Fivio Foreign followed in 42 Dugg’s footsteps by partnering with Million Dollar Drive By to serve Thanksgiving meals to children affected by mass incarceration. 

Quavo and Kodak Black also handed out turkeys. Quavo hosted a turkey drive in Atlanta and Kodak Black handed out over 5,000 turkeys in his home state of Florida.

Ever since the YBN collective disintegrated, life has really given YBN Nahmir the short end of the stick. After a year that was a supposed to be a resurgence for the Alabama native, he apparently has not felt that gratified.

On Friday (Nov. 26), Nahmir tweeted that he wanted to disappear, and quickly deleted the tweet, causing concern: “I just be wanting to disappear.”

After DJ Akademiks posted the tweet on Instagram, Nahmir made his way to the comment section to elaborate, saying he would consider Aspen as a destination: “I just be wanting to go to like aspen for a month or so.”

Nahmir released his debut studio album VISIONLAND in March of this year, as it flopped with only around 4,000 album sales. The album’s 16th song “Soul Train” actually went viral on TikTok, but only for how terrible it was. Many deemed it as the worst song of the year, and Nahmir eventually submitted to the meme and joined in on the fun. He ironically tweeted: “Song of the year ‘soul train’ by @YBNNahmir”

A few months later, he had a feud with the only remaining member of the dysfunctional YBN gang, YBN Almighty Jay. Almighty Jay would eventually leave the group, following in Cordae’s footsteps. 

Nahmir is now the only namesake for YBN, clinging onto the group that brought him fame and notoriety in the beginning. Hopefully Nahmir can keep his mental health and career intact, as he now looks to forward in his career by himself.

Earlier this fall, the case of Gabby Petito’s murder and Brian Laundrie’s disappearance took the internet by storm. The 22-year-old YouTuber was found dead by manual strangulation in Wyoming a few weeks after her fiancé, Laundrie, returned back to their Florida residence with her van and without her.

After checking in with his family, Laundrie reportedly left the home, resulting in a weeks-long manhunt that only ended as October came to a close. Remains believed to be the wanted man’s were discovered at the Carlton reserve last month, and were confirmed shortly after. By early November, it was reported that he may have died by suicide – news that has since been verified by medical examiners.

According to a new TMZ report, Brian’s parents, Chris and Roberta, had knowledge of their son taking a gun from their home back in September that was never shared with the public. Family attorney Steven Bertolino has shared that the couple voluntarily surrendered all of their weapons on September 17th, and were aware that one was missing at the time.

Allegedly, law enforcement made the call to not share this information with the public, with Bertolino adding that Brian’s parents “were shocked the gun was missing and they were upset.” At this time, it remains unclear if the gun was found alongside the man’s remains.

As the gossip site notes, it feels strange that no warning of Laundrie potentially being “armed and dangerous” came along with news of him being missing. Although he was never officially named a suspect, he was the main person of interest in Petito’s death, and could’ve potentially been a hazard to others he came across.

Kanye West and Drake’s widely publicized beef and subsequent reuniting has us approaching a one-of-a-kind event. As the motivation behind the two rap titans reconciling, their upcoming joint concert is set to take place on Thursday, Dec. 9.

Yesterday (Nov. 26), billboards promoting the show appeared in Drake’s hometown Toronto, displaying the image used when the concert was originally announced.

Although it will be taking place in Los Angeles’ Forum, perhaps these promotional signs are looking to urge people to continue buying tickets. The show has yet to sell out, as fans were astounded by the high ticket prices when they went on sale last week.

The show is officially listed as a Ye concert, with Drake as a special guest, but organizer J. Prince also teased that there could be additional acts in support of Larry Hoover.

The concert is ultimately an effort to bring awareness and assistance to Hoover’s cause to be released from his nearly 50 year prison stay for his gang-related crimes with Chicago’s Gangster’s Disciples in the 1970s. When Kanye originally reached out to Drake via Instagram video to unite with him for a concert and squash their beef, he cited that the goal was to do so in honor of Larry Hoover.

Then, when Drake met with J. Prince and Hoover’s son Larry Jr. a few days after, it was all but confirmed the show was going down. This is a great full circle moment for Ye and Drizzy, as Kanye was using petty billboards in Toronto in September to promote his Donda album in opposition to Drake’s Certified Lover Boy.

Now, Drake and Kanye will share the stage, and Drizzy is hoping to lure some of his fans from the 6 to the LA show.

Meek Mill is fresh off of the release of his latest body of work, Expensive Pain. The album’s rollout was far less anticlimactic than Championships but there were a few still several highlights. And even with the album out, it doesn’t look like fans will have to wait too long to receive more music from Meek.

In the era of cryptocurrency and NFTs, it looks like Meek will be taking a different approach to releasing the fifth and final installment of the Dreamchasers mixtape series. The rapper previewed some new music on his Instagram page along, revealing that he would be taking a bigger step into the digital space with his next project. “#DCPOUNDCAKE LAST DREAMCHASER MIXTAPE A NFT …. LOYALTY CLUB STARTS JANUARY.1st 2022 you can invest merch albums and shows and get marketed,” he wrote.

A few days prior, Meek initially announced the Loyalty Club, though it’s unclear what that is. “Loyalty club starts January 1st, 2022 NFT mixtape,” he captioned an Instagram post. 

With new music from Meek on the way, in the form of an NFT, it’ll be exciting to see how this ends up playing out. The exclusivity surrounding NFTs is what makes them so highly sought after but that also means that the owners have a choice in whether the music is released to the general public.

Ultimately, Meek fans will certainly be excited to hear what he’s been cooking up since Expensive Pain.

Remy Ma and Fat Joe were featured guest hosts on “The Wendy Williams Show,” where the two reacted to an unexpected joke during with a cooking segment with guest chef Evette Rios.

Chef Rios, as she prepared some of her favorite Puerto Rican dishes for the segment “Puerto Rican Thanksgiving,” dropped the joke as she passed some plantains to Remy, who was elected to help with the cooking while Fat Joe chose to be the taste-taster. 

“Let’s start with some green plantain, I know you like big plantains, Remy,” said Rios as she passed one over to Remy.

In shock, Remy turns to her husband, Papoose, who was sitting in the audience. 

“Pap, what did you tell this lady?” asked Remy, to an amused audience. “She’s been talking to my husband, guys. I’m sorry.”

Fat Joe added in, “Papoose, a slight compliment on TV… They heard about it in Oklahoma.”

Fat Joe and Remy Ma were announced as guest hosts to the longstanding show during the November 23 and 24th broadcasts, after Williams announced that she was taking some time for her health. Earlier in the year, the host announced that she has been struggling through a long battle with Graves’ Disease, as well as a thyroid condition. 

A statement released by The Wendy Williams’ Show reads: 

“Wendy continues to be under medical supervision and meets with her medical team on a daily basis. She is making progress but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition.

“It has been determined that more time is needed before she is able to return to her live hosting duties. We want her health to be her top priority.” 

Until further news, Williams’ replacement for the show in December is set to be Sherri Shepherd. It is unknown if Shepherd will be the show’s permanent host henceforth, an announcement is expected to be made after the show’s return from hiatus in January. 

Just hours after he shared a romantic throwback photo of his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West was spotted sitting courtside at last night’s Los Angeles Lakers game. As TMZ reports, the rapper was swarmed while entering the Staples Center, taking some time to sign autographs and pose for selfies – from the looks of things, Ye was in a great mood.

The “Heartless” recording artist sat courtside with a friend, wearing a hefty black leather jacket, a hat, hoodie, gloves, faded jeans, and a new colour way of the NSLTD boots. He reportedly ate chicken strips and fries while watching the Lakers lose to the Kings 137 – 141.

While he appeared to be in good spirits last night, earlier in the day, the father of four seemed to be in his feelings about his impending divorce. Along with the black and white picture of he and Kardashian smooching, Ye shared a TMZ headline reading “Kanye West Says God Will Bring Kim and Him Back Together, Inspire Millions.”

Before that very public plea, the Yeezy founder also hopped on the mic at an event to address he and his wife’s tumultuous union. “Kimye created a narrative, that’s not the narrative that God wants. The narrative that God wants is for you to see that everything can be redeemed…We’ve made mistakes. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband,” he can be heard saying in a clip that’s made its way onto IG.

On Thanksgiving, West offered up a prayer, addressing some of his flaws and failures as not only a husband, but as a human. “All I think about every day is how I get my family back together and how I heal the pain that I’ve caused. I take accountability for my actions,” he shared.

Nobody could be prouder of being from Toronto than Drake is. Part of that pride comes in the form of his involvement with the hometown basketball team, the Toronto Raptors. 

Drake is listed as an official global ambassador for the franchise, and makes frequent appearances court-side for the games, as well as being a part of their 2019 Championship celebration. Member of that team and the current squad Fred VanVleet spoke about Drake’s impact when he was a recent guest of Steven Jackson and Matt Barnes’ podcast “All The Smoke”: “He’s just an icon. But he’s so much of a nice and genuine dude that when you’re around him you don’t really notice it. He really is a fan, and not in a bad way. He’s really is a fan of the game, he’s a fan of this team and this city. I mean he’s got his owl (OVO logo) right here on an NBA team. He’s got a court, he’s got a jersey, that’s unheard of.”

Drake has inserted himself in some on-court drama this year, as he caused opposing player Montrezl Harrell to get a technical foul for beefing with Drake on the sideline. His passion for the Raptors is apparent, and VanVleet explained how much he appreciates it as a Raptors player: “To come from his hometown and do this with his team, his family and friends that he grew up with, it’s inspirational. I think it’s the blueprint for what a lot of guys should be striving to do. He goes out into the world and he reps it. He’s jus a huge ambassador , not only for the game but for Toronto and I caught that wave at a great time for my first six years because I can see the growth from year to year. The championship was the peak, and you know at the games he just be wildin’ out. He’s a fan and he’ll be trash talking crazy to the players and the refs. He’s rubbing Nick’s (head coach Nick Nurse) shoulders during the game, he’s just having fun man. It’s like a playground for him.”

While Drake’s antics involving the Raptors are widely seen as entertainment, it appears the franchise and its players appreciate his presence.
