Earl Sweatshirt Announces New Album “Sick!” & Shares “Tabula Rasa” With Armand Hammer

On Friday, November 19, Earl Sweatshirt returned with the potent single “2010,” and less than a month later, the gifted lyricist is back with another impressive track. Titled “Tabula Rasa,” Earl’s latest release taps billy woods and E L U C I D of underground Hip-Hop duo Armand Hammer for two guest verses, and it also arrives alongside an exciting announcement.

In a matter of weeks, the former Odd Future artist will be gearing up to drop his first album since Feet Of Clay in 2019. Titled Sick!, the 10-track effort will arrive on January 14, 2022, via Tan Cressida and Warner Records. Get a good look at the project’s cover art below.

According to PitchforkEarl said the following about “Tabula Rasa” and Sick!:

Sick! is my humble offering of 10 songs recorded in the wake of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic and its subsequent lockdowns. Before the virus I had been working on an album I named after a book I used to read with my mother (The People Could Fly). Once the lockdowns hit, people couldn’t fly anymore. A wise man said art imitates life. People were sick. The People were angry and isolated and restless. I leaned into the chaos cause it was apparent that it wasn’t going anywhere. These songs are what happened when I would come up for air. Peace and love to Zelooperz the enigma, the Armand Hammer, and my good friends Alchemist and Black Noi$e. Peace and love to u.

Go ahead and pre-save Sick! here, and head down below to check out the music video for Earl Sweatshirt’s Armand Hammer-assisted single “Tabula Rasa.” The Alchemist has already said that Earl’s new album is “incredible,” so are you excited to hear Sick! when it arrives in January?

Quotable Lyrics

You only trash if you trash, I keep it simple and dynamic
Trust the passage rites to life’s chapters
I have to write to find balance
This game of telephone massive, I do what I have to with the fragments

Cardi B Confirmed Herpes/HPV Negative Following Tasha K Defamation Drama

Near the end of November, we reported that Cardi B was ordered to share her medical records with a judge after filing a defamation case against YouTube vlogger Latasha Kebe – also known as Tasha K – a few years ago. Now, according to AllHipHop, it’s been confirmed that the “WAP” rapper is negative for both herpes and HPV.

“My client does not have HPV and herpes. Two of the defamatory statements at issue are the vile, false, and highly offensive statements by the defendant that my client has herpes and HPV, and we provided these [STD testing] records 14 months ago in support of my client’s claims,” the mother of two’s lawyer told Rolling Stone prior to the results.

Tasha K’s lawyer also sent a statement to the outlet, saying, “we have no comment about the order for plaintiff’s medical records, specifically. We are continuing to prepare for jury trial. Ms. Kebe is looking forward to finally having this matter resolved.”

After reviewing documents submitted by Center for Women’s Pelvic Health at UCLA, the judge overseeing the case has said, “the Court has received and reviewed the records and finds that they are not helpful to Defendant.” They have also ordered that the records regarding the lawsuit be sealed until the defamation trial begins on January 5th, 2022.

On top of her claims that Cardi had herpes and HPV, Tasha K also alleged that the New Yorker was once a prostitute, and did hard drugs like cocaine. The Cardi Tries host has said that these rumours have been damaging to her reputation, also noting that they’re “flat-out lies.” A counter suit filed by the internet personality claims that Cardi instructed her fans to harass her on social media.

AllHipHop reports that a judge dismissed those claims, saying that the YouTuber didn’t have evidence to support her allegations.

RZA And Flatbush Zombies Link Up On The Tarantino-Inspired ‘Plug Addicts’ Video

“I’ve had my eyes on the Flatbush Zombies for sometime now,” RZA said in a statement. And when the RZA speaks, people listen. It’s hard to believe that the Brooklyn crew and the Staten Island producer had never linked in the past, given how Flatbush Zombies’ penchant for the macabre seems so aligned with RZA’s cinematic aesthetic. But now here they are, two NYC entities born in different eras, at the start of a new collaborative arc.

In the new “Plug Addicts” clip, the “glorious dead” Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, Erick Arc Elliott, and The RZA are all dressed like Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs as they take turns dropping a verse. The video is sinister to say the least, and even culminates with RZA’s slasher re-enactment of Michael Madsen’s Mr. Blonde torture scene from the movie. They all play off of each other fluidly on the mic and the production sounds eerily similar to a certain project from the past. “Their style of dark hip hop lyricism is reminiscent of my days in the Gravediggaz,” RZA remarked about the Zombies. “This type of collaboration was overdue,”.

This is the first of their two singles, with another called “Quentin Tarantino” due on December 17th. Flatbush Zombies’ Eric Arc Elliott added some words on the collab:

“In a lot of ways I saw RZA in myself, as a fellow producer/artist. We are making history together at this very moment. The music he’s made over the course of his career had a lot to do with why I wanted to make music in the first place, it’s beautiful to see these things come full circle.”

Watch the video for “Plug Addicts” above and be on the lookout for “Quentin Tarantino” next week.

Kanye West & Drake’s Larry Hoover Merch Sales Reportedly Won’t Go To Charity

Kanye West and Drake linked up last night for a very special event. The two squashed their beef and performed a plethora of hits at the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert, which brought thousands of fans to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. In the end, it was a night to remember, and it was all for a good cause as the proceeds from all of the ticket sales went to various criminal justice organizations around the United States.

In addition to the tickets, the two artists were selling merchandise created by Demna, who is the creative director over at Balenciaga. As you can see in the Instagram post below, this merch included a hoodie, t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and even a hat. The prices for these items ranged from $60 to $400, and it was believed that the profit from these sales would go to the same organizations that benefitted from the ticket sales.

According to Eileen Cartter of GQ, however, this is simply not the case. In their report, it was stated that the profits from the merch will not go to charity and that at this time, there is no concrete answer as to where the money is going to go.

“While proceeds from ticket sales for the concert will reportedly benefit a number of criminal justice reform groups, profits from merch sales are not being earmarked for charity,” GQ explained in its report. Having said that, the items are still available for purchase on the Amazon Fashion store.

Regardless of this news, the event was still a huge success, and it brought a lot of eyes to Larry Hoover’s case. Not to mention, it was a huge moment for the culture, which is exactly what Kanye and Drake were going for.

Cole Bennett Delivers Touching Tribute At First Annual Juice WRLD Day In Chicago

With December 8, 2021 marking the second anniversary of Juice WRLD’s tragic death, there have been many attempts to honor the late rapper and the legacy he left behind.

Earlier this week, MONTREALITY released “in memory of Juice WRLD,” an eight-minute YouTube video featuring multiple rappers including Lil Durk Big Sean, Migos, Trippie Redd and Ski Mask The Slump God and their reflections on Juice’s impact on them, and his impact on hip hop.

Today (December 10), Lil Bibby and Grade A Productions (Juice signed with Grade A in 2017) released his second posthumous album, Fighting Demonsa follow up to 2020’s Legends Never DieFighting Demons, which features guest appearances from Justin Bieber, Eminem, Polo G, Trippie Redd and Suga from BTS, is an introspective look at the trials and tribulations Juice faced during his short-but-illustrious career, and further addresses his battles with substance abuse and addiction.

Before Fighting Demons hit digital streaming platforms at midnight, however, fans and family celebrated the first annual Juice WRLD Day at Chicago’s United Center.

During the celebration of Juice WRLD’s life and legacy, fellow Illinois native and Lyrical Lemonade founder, Cole Bennett shared some words about the artist he came up alongside. After directing and hosting the music videos for “All Girls Are The Same” and “Lucid Dreams,” both Bennett and Juice WRLD skyrocketed into the upper echelons of the modern hip hop landscape, and for years, Lyrical Lemonade has received a ton of credit for introducing the Death Race For Love rapper to the rest of the world. But in a heartfelt address to Juice himself, Bennett said it was the other way around.

“The narrative was always, you know, Cole and Lyrical Lemonade were such a blessing to Juice’s career,” he said. “As time went on, I realized that he was really the blessing to me.”

While the semantics of who helped who more are ultimately unimportant, Juice WRLD’s impact on his fans, Bennett and the rest of those around. him is undeniable. At just 21-years-old, Juice was already cemented as a legend in the game, and sentiments like Bennett’s and events like the one held yesterday at the United Center are sure to keep his legacy alive.

Rest in peace, Juice WRLD.

A loss like that much be extremely difficult to endure, and both of Zen’s parents have since commented on the passing of the newborn boy.

On Instagram, Alyssa Scott wrote, “Oh my sweet Zen. The soreness I felt in my arm from holding you is slowly fading away. It’s a painful reminder that you are no longer here. I caught myself looking in the backseat as I was driving only to see the mirror no longer reflecting your perfect face back at me. When I close a door too loudly I hold my breath and wince knowing a soft cry will shortly follow. It doesn’t come. The silence is deafening.”

Kanye West Forgot The Lyrics To “Forever” During Larry Hoover Benefit Show

Last night, those at The Coliseum in Los Angeles saw Kanye West give hands down one of the best performances of his career, taking us back in time through his discography with hits like “Jesus Walks,” “Gold Digger,” and “Black Skinhead.” While on stage, the rapper also covered some hits by his fellow headliner, Drake, including “Find Your Love,” and their 2009 collab with Lil Wayne and Eminem, “Forever.”

The concert was held in hopes of raising funds and awareness about the Free Larry Hoover movement, and saw Ye and Drizzy come together on stage after squashing their beef to put on the show of a lifetime.

After watching the live stream, some viewers couldn’t help but notice that the father of four appeared to stumble over a part in “Forever,” and can then be heard laughing into his microphone about the incident before picking back up without missing a beat. Many cracked jokes about West forgetting the lyrics because the song had aged poorly, but other suggested that the “Ghost Town” artist was just trying to skip over the swear words since he’s cleaned up his act all these years later.

Regardless of what happened, catching Ye laughing at himself feels like a heart warming moment in the midst of the mess he’s currently going through with his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian.

Elsewhere during his set, the 44-year-old switched up the lyrics in his 2010 song, “Runaway,” singing, “I need you to run right back to me, baby, more specifically, Kimberly,” as she watched on with their two eldest children from the audience. The next day, it was reported that she requested a judge declare her legally single so that she can move on with her life – read more about that here.

Blazers Make A Statement In Regards To Damian Lillard’s Future

Over the past six months, there have been a ton of conflicting reports when it comes to the likes of Damian Lillard. The Portland Trail Blazers superstar has been the face of the franchise for years, although unfortunately, he has nothing to show for it. This isn’t exactly his fault, as the Blazers have simply never given him the pieces necessary in order to succeed. This has led to speculation that Lillard could be traded, however, Lillard has always said that he wants to stay in Portland.

Recently, a report came out stating that the Sixers are getting some big offers on Ben Simmons, however, it was quickly noted that Lillard, is off the table right now. In a new report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, it was confirmed that moving forward, Lillard will remain the cornerstone of the Blazers franchise.

In fact, the Blazers told the Sixers directly that they will not get Lillard in a trade. At this point, the team’s new management wants to keep Lillard on board until at least the end of his contract, which is still in a few years from now. For some Lillard fans, this might come as a surprise, especially when you consider the struggles he has gone through in Portland.

Regardless, Lillard has always been against the superteam mentality, so it makes sense that he would be committed to building something in Portland. As for whether or not that actually happens, still remains to be seen.
