Ye Is Working On A Performance Piece Called ‘The Funeral Rehearsal Of Kanye West’

2021 saw Ye (aka Kanye West) focused on his latest album, Donda. As for what he’s up to next, he says he’s working on a performance piece called The Funeral Rehearsal Of Kanye West.

Ye spoke about the endeavor in a new conversation with Tino Sehgal, for German culture magazine 032c. In the print-only interview, which is included as “a special edition booklet” in Issue #40 of the publication (photos of which were shared on Reddit but then deleted), the conversation started with the two exchanging pleasantries and Sehgal asking Ye about a project he was planning to do in Berlin. Ye responded:

“Yeah, but we want to give it some more time. The idea went from throwing a Halloween party to doing a performance piece called The Funeral Rehearsal Of Kanye West. I feel like every artist should design their own funeral rehearsal. And then, when they die, people can do it again. […] It’s also a new language. At this point, every art piece I do is a window, an app, for human beings. 808s & Heartbreak was the app for Drake and The Weeknd, and The Funeral Rehearsal Of Kanye West will be the app for others.”

At another point in the chat, Ye noted, “I was talking to [German designer and Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia] about the costumes for Funeral Rehearsal, and I told him they have to look like they came from a thousand years ago, now, or a thousand years from now. And then it can go other-dimensional. It can’t be overly contemporary.”

He also said:

“I can’t let nobody love me too much, because I’m gonna get into this trap of love. And then I owe it to everyone to be the person that they fell in love with. And I’ll never be that person. I have to always have the freedom of being disliked, so I can always be me. And so, this new piece is the death of Kanye West. It is the death of the ego that separates us — it’s the birth of humanity. Let me start by killing myself. The less you, the more room for God.”

It’s not clear when Ye intends to premiere Funeral Rehearsal, but as he noted, he wants “to give it some more time,” so it could end up being a while before the world sees it. As for the interview, Highsnobiety has some exclusive excerpts of it. The full interview has some more Ye quotes about Funeral Rehearsal and other topics, so find that here.

Ye Vows To ‘Be Homeless In A Year’ After Turning All His Homes Into Churches

It was reported in October that Ye (formerly Kanye West) was looking to sell one of his Wyoming ranches. As far as what he plans to do with his remaining homes, he apparently intends to leave himself “homeless in a year” by turning them all into churches, according to a conversation between Ye and British-German artist Tino Sehgal for German culture magazine 032c.

In the print-only interview that’s included as “a special edition booklet” in Issue #40 of the publication (photos of which were shared on Reddit but have since been removed), Ye said:

“The ultimate good life is simpler. It’s for those who are willing to not have any possessions. Your baggage weighs you down.

I’m going to be homeless in a year. I’m going to turn all the homes I own into churches. We’re making this orphanage, and it will be a place where anyone can go. It should be like an artist commune. Food should always be available. The opportunity to make art and be around friends should always be available.”

Speaking of possessions, a bulletproof vest that Ye wore during one of his Donda listening parties was recently sold, alongside an NFT, for a whopping sum of $75,000.

DeJ Loaf Might Not Ever Drop Music Again

Detroit-born rapper DeJ Loaf may be considering a career switch-up, suggesting on social media that she may be retired from releasing music.

The 30-year-old, who is best known for her songs “No Fear,” “Back Up” with Big Sean, and “Me U & Hennessy” with Lil Wayne, appears to be weighing her options pertaining to her next moves in the music business, responding to a fan who asked her about the status of one song that she has been teasing over the course of the last few weeks.

“You should drop that song you been holding,” they asked.

“Probably never drop music again,” responded DeJ Loaf, strongly implying that she may be finished in the rap game.

Remy Ma Claims Women In Rap Don’t Collab With Her Because Her “Pen Really Go”

With decades of spitting bars under her belt, Remy Ma is confident in her lyrical game. The New York rapper has risen through the trenches to amass the success she has today, including serving out six years in prison, but immediately upon her release, the “Conceited” icon was back at work. Remy is not only married to spitter Papoose but she called Fat Joe one of her best friends, so it’s clear that she surrounds herself with people that also value the art of stroy-telling on wax.

With that said, it doesn’t come as a surprise that while visiting Big U’s Checc’n In podcast, Remy boasted about her pen game and added that other rappers in the industry avoid collaborating with her because of her skills.

“‘Cause my pen really go,” said the rapper. “They know. Nobody don’t play with me. Even guys. People call me and they’re like, ‘You need to do some features.’ No girl wants to be on a song with me. Especially if she up! She don’t want Remy Ma on a song. They know what’s gon’ happen and the same thing goes for guys. A guy don’t wanna call me to get on a song ’cause he knows what’s gonna happen!”

“So, it’s cool. I’m alright with it.” She also spoke about how she landed in prison after being convicted of intentional assault in 2008. Remy said she was spending time with people that weren’t good for her. “I never took the stand. I never did no interviews saying what really happened.”

Justin Skye Details Finding Out That Giveon Allegedly Cheated On Her

Fans love to connect with their favorite artists on Livestream, but it can be a nightmare for publicists. Often, rappers and singers turn to platforms like Instagram Live in order to spend a few moments with their supporters. If they aren’t taking time to answer questions, some artists are flexing exotic vacation locations or behind-the-scenes exclusive events. However, Justin Skye’s fans were in for a treat as the R&B songbird dished about her breakup from Giveon.

The crooning couple was a favorite, undercover industry relationship but back in October, Skye hinted that their romance was over. Now, she’s taken to Livestream to detail how she found out that he was allegedly cheating.

According to the singer, she somehow had access to his messages and she was watching in real-time as Giveon and another person were plotting their plan on what lie they would tell Skye about the infidelity. At the same time, she contacted him but hadn’t responded. She said she told him that her friend saw him go to his room with another girl, even though the friend didn’t exist.

“This fool thinks that there’s a friend,” said Skye, adding that Giveon allegedly responded by saying, “Tell you friend she just ruined your relationship. I’m done.” Instead, Skye revealed she had been watching him the entire time and told him she, indeed, was finished. The next time they spoke, Skye claimed that Given asked her: “Are you trying to ruin me?”

Justine Skye also revealed she will definitely be putting this heartbreak into her music. Swipe below for the story.

Akademiks Goes In On Freddie Gibbs As Jim Jones Shoots Music Video In Miami

It was expected that more details regarding the rumors of a bruh-ha-ha in Miami would be directly addressed by either Freddie Gibbs or Jim Jones, but the two rappers aren’t saying a word. Last night, reports slowly surfaced that Gibbs and Jones were involved in a physical altercation at hotspot Prime 112 in Miami. VladTV broke the story and reported that Jones was making his way into the eatery with his entourage as Gibbs and his crew were leaving.

Paths crossed, so goes the rumors, and punches were thrown. There were allegations that someone in Gibbs’s crew was on the ground getting hit and kicked in the head, but by the morning, Gibbs was back online showing that he was unscathed.

The rapper’s nemesis, DJ Akademiks, didn’t skip a beat in trolling Gibbs amid the news, but the public has also been waiting on Jones to make an appearance. The Dipset icon isn’t one for getting involved in social media madness, but as a businessman, he knows how to capitalize off of a viral moment.

Jones returned with a few updates to show that he’s still posted up in Miami taking care of business. In one clip, he said that he was with Hitmaka, also known as Yung Berg, shooting a music video. A preview of the visual has also been shared and all the while, Akademiks has also gone viral for his lengthy commentary on the incident.

The Off The Record podcast host trolled Gibbs by calling him a victim. “I ain’t gon’ lie to you, Jim Jones roll with some real n*ggas,” said Akademiks. “They shot at that n*gga years ago, they beat him up this time. Bro, Fredrick is a f*ckin’ victim! How the f*ck y’all got him talkin’ crazy like he gon’ scare me!”

Young Dolph’s Partner Mia Jaye Speaks: “Such A Genuine, Golden Heart”

Ahead of the public memorial for Young Dolph, the city of Memphis honored him with his own street sign. Last month, the Paper Route Empire mogul was gunned down in his hometown while shopping at a local bakery. Police continue to search for the perpetrators involved and tomorrow, thousands will join together at the FedExForum in Memphis for Dolph’s Celebration of Life Event.

Dolph’s loved ones, including his longtime partner Mia Jaye, gathered for the revealing of “Adolph ‘Young Dolph’ Thornton Jr. Avenue” and during the tribute, Mia spoke about his legacy.

“I’m here with my children,” Mia said in a clip of the event shared by TMZ. She added that she had a few points written down on a notecard but instead referenced a relative, an aunt, who also spoke at the event. “She illustrated Adolph’s character better. I can’t even do it any better, ’cause everything that she said was spot on. He was a man after God’s own heart. I often would call him and tell him he had a heart of David. He was just such a giver, had such a genuine, golden heart.”

“I can remember when we first got together and he was so busy,” Mia recalled. “But I would always say, ‘I’mma stick around though because he has such a great heart… I could tell he was trying to be helpful and do something for the betterment of his family. I had that intuition and it followed, and it was true.”

Mia went on to detail how encouraging Dolph was with his children as the rapper molded their self-esteem, telling them to be proud of who they are and where they come from. Watch Mia Jaye speak about Young Dolph below.

Jayda Cheaves Claims She “Been Knew About” Lil Baby & Saweetie Dating

And just like that, those Lil Baby and Saweetie rumors faded into oblivion, but not before becoming a trending topic on social media. Hollywood Unlocked stirred things up after reporting that the two rappers were a couple and claimed that they had the video to prove it. Internet sleuths quickly compared images and soon, the masses were convinced that Saweetie and Lil Baby were in a clandestine romance, but he came forward to deny it all, stating that he is a single man.

Meanwhile, Lil Baby’s ex and the mother of his child, Jayda Cheaves, was caught “liking” Hollywood Unlocked‘s post about Saweetie and Baby shopping at Chanel together. Jayda sat down with the outlet for a follow-up and she was asked about her double-tap.

“One ‘like,’ all I have to do is ‘like’ something and the whole internet is in a frenzy,” she said. Jason Lee asked her if she was congratulating the couple or being petty. “Sometimes I just like to put the internet in a frenzy. I was really liking it because I knew that story before—the day it happened, I knew about it.”

“That’s the thing, social media, they always a week, two weeks behind on the stuff I already know,” she added. “Everything that has ever came out on social media, before it hits the media, it’s something me and him been talked about. It’s crazy, but this is my life.” Jayda claimed that she has “sources” out there that keep their ears to the streets for her.

“Like I told Baby, ‘How you gonna do that to Ms. Chanel herself, like, you don’t think I would find out about that?’ I spend bank in Chanel on the weekly. This is what I do. C’mon, now.” Jayda said she “been knew about it” and was “waiting on somebody to say something.” Watch Jayda Cheaves below.
