Drakeo The Ruler Was Reportedly Stabbed At Once Upon A Time In LA, Sending The Festival Into Chaos

Back in June, the lineup for a new hip-hop focused festival in Los Angeles dropped, and fans were thrilled it included so many local legends. Once Upon A Time In LA counted Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent as headliners, and appearances from a whole host of R&B and hip-hop talent, including legendary performers like Al Green, Warren G and DJ Quik, and embattled LA rapper Drakeo The Ruler, who was finally freed once more after a very convoluted court case.

But in a potentially horrific turn of events at Banc of California stadium tonight, reports began to surface on social media that someone was attacked during the festival. Claims that Drakeo The Ruler was stabbed in the neck began circulating due to an original post that came from power 106 DJ Letty. Letty has since deleted the tweet that included the information about Drakeo’s injury, but here’s a screenshot:

People reporter Tomás Mier was told that the festival would still go on, just without Snoop Dogg, who left the event right after the stabbing. Mier also confirmed that Drakeo The Ruler was the stabbing victim, citing Lt. Ellerson at USC DPS as the source, who stated the rapper has been transported to the hospital in critical condition. No one is in custody for the attack as of yet.

CBS LA previously reported that via their Twitter “one person was stabbed” during the festival and that according to LA City Fire Department, the victim had been transported to the hospital. They also reported that the city has officially shut down the festival, which the festival later confirmed on Twitter.

This is an emerging story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

He quickly began celebrating with his brother Logan.

“This is as real as it fucking gets, just like my right hand,” Paul added. “I told you I was going to fuck him up.”

After praising Woodley for signing up on short notice, Paul went on to call out Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz: “And Masvidal and Nate Diaz y’all are some bitches for leaving this arena because I know you don’t want that shit.”

Paul was originally slated to take on Tyson Fury’s half-brother, Tommy Fury; however, Tommy withdrew due to injury.

Earlier in the night, former NBA player Deron Williams defeated former NFL running back Frank Gore via split decision for a special exhibition match.

Marvel Confirms More “Spider-Man” Films To Come

Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal discussed the future of the Spider-Man franchise in a new interview with the New York Times, following the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Pascal, who serves as a producer for Sony, discussed previous comments about wanting to make more films.

“We’re producers, so we always believe everything will work out,” she said. “I love working with Kevin. We have a great partnership, along with Tom Rothman, who runs Sony and has been instrumental, a great leader with great ideas. I hope it lasts forever.

Feige, President of Marvel, also confirmed that there are a lot of directions they can go with a fourth film: “At the end of the movie we just made, you see Spider-Man make a momentous decision, one that you’ve never seen him make before. It’s a sacrifice. And that gives us a lot to work with for the next film.”

As for whether they’ll continue bringing back characters from Spider-Man films from the past, he admitted that might not work going forward: “Not every Spider-Man movie is going to be a multitude of characters. That approach was right for this one.”

He added: “You can’t think about topping yourself in terms of spectacle. Otherwise movies just get larger and larger for no reason, and it’s not a good result. But we do want to always try and top ourselves in terms of quality and emotion. Kevin and I never want to lose sight of one thing: Peter Parker. That he’s a normal kid. That he is orphaned over and over again. That he’s a teenager, so everything in his life is at a heightened pitch and everything matters more than anything. That he’s fueled by goodness and guilt. That he’s striving for a greater cause, and he’s vilified by the press.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now.

NFL Announces Several Changes To COVID-19 Testing Protocols

The NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed to reduce the frequency of mandatory testing for asymptomatic vaccinated players, as part of several new changes to their testing protocols.

Players and league personnel will also have access to testing as frequently as they’d like. Additionally, the league is providing home-testing kits to athletes and their families.

“Medical information strongly indicates that this variant is significantly more contagious but possibly less severe than prior variants, particularly for people who are fully vaccinated and have received a booster shot,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo. “Our experience with the omicron variant is fully consistent with this expectation – while more players and staff are testing positive, roughly two- thirds of those individuals are asymptomatic, most of the remaining individuals have only mild symptoms, and the virus appears to clear positive individuals more rapidly than was true with the delta or earlier variants. In many respects, omicron appears to be a very different illness from the one that we first confronted in the spring of 2020.”

The new changes have been announced after the league had to postpone three games scheduled for this weekend due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

50 Cent & G-Unit Claim Ownership Over Young Buck’s Music Catalog

50 Cent’s record label G-Unit is claiming to have ownership over Young Buck’s music catalog. The dispute between the two parties regards a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filed by Buck in January of 2020.

Earlier this year, Buck was accused of trying to hide $24,228.14 in royalties and recently reached an agreement with the bankruptcy account on a $515 monthly payment plan.

50 Cent, however, claims the money is owed to him as G-Unit is the owner of any music made by Buck.

“Under the clear terms of the Recording Contract, the G-Unit Property belongs to G Unit because it owns all of the works comprising such property and [Young Buck] is only entitled to a percentage of the net proceeds G Unit earns from licensing such works. Therefore, the Motion to Compromise should be denied,” 50 Cent’s lawyer William N. Helou explained.

In July 2014 G-Unit gave $250,000 to Buck in exchange for him signing a recording contract to record two albums for the label. He never completed the terms of the agreement.

“Here, the compromise is not fair and equitable because the Trustee’s settlement with [Young Buck] is premised on the incorrect assertion that the G-Unit Property is property of the estate. It is not,” Helou said.

Swizz Beatz Shares Favorite Videos Of DMX On Late Rapper’s Birthday

Swizz Beatz posted his favorite videos and memories of DMX on Instagram, Saturday, in honor of what would’ve been the late rapper’s 51st birthday. X’s longtime collaborator also asked fans to share their favorite songs or videos.

“Today we wish you a ultra Happy Birthday King [cake emojis]” Beatz wrote in the caption. “Everyone please help me celebrate the Dog by posting your best X song or vid [praying hands emoji] Long live [X emoji] @dmx the Great [lightning bolt emojis] we miss you bro.”

The post featured several clips of X in the studio, some of his live performances, music videos, and more.

Earlier this year, Beatz reflected on X’s humanitarian efforts, calling him a “hero for the people”

He told The Guardian: “I know there’s a lot of negative stories, but DMX was a humanitarian. He was a hero for the people. He would give clothes off his back to homeless people and walk home in his boxers. He would pull over the car and talk to a homeless person, or a mother that looked like she needed help with something. He was doing this every day. It wasn’t for press or social media. The way you’d find out what DMX was doing was through other people posting it, never him. He never posted any of these good deeds at all or talked about them. I feel like that’s what people should know: DMX was a giver.”

In honor of DMX’s birthday, the state of New York also celebrated its first DMX Day.

Anthony Davis To Miss At Least 1 Month With MCL Sprain: Report

Los Angles Lakers star Anthony Davis is expected to miss at least one month after suffering an MCL sprain in his left knee during the team’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that the Lakers confirmed the diagnosis on Saturday.

Davis went down during the third quarter after being rolled up on by Jaden McDaniels. While slowly making his way to the locker room, Davis collapsed in pain in the tunnel.

The Timberwolves went on to win 110-92. Davis finished with nine points and one rebound in 20 minutes of action.

“My concern is always for his health,” Davis’ teammate, LeBron James, said after the game. “You wish for the best and leave it in the man above’s hands.”

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel added: “Hopefully it’s something minor and he can get back soon, but we’ll find out tomorrow.”

The eight-time NBA All-Star is averaging 23.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game this season.

The Lakers are in the midst of a disappointing season, currently sitting at 16-14 in 6th place in the Western Conference. The team’s next game will see them traveling to Chicago to take on the Bulls, Sunday at 8:00 PM, ET.
