Cordae Shares A Throwback Video Of Him Rapping Over Kanye West’s ‘Gone’

Next month, Cordae will release his second album From A Birds Eye View. It arrives more than two years after his debut album, The Lost Boy. That project, which features Chance The Rapper, Anderson .Paak, Meek Mill, Ty Dolla Sign, and more, solidified his newfound position in rap thanks to its critical acclaim and its eventual nomination at the 2020 Grammy Awards. It was selected in the Best Rap Album category, and while it lost to Tyler The Creator’s Igor, it helped to boost the DMV native’s stock.

Now we’re just a few weeks away from the release of From A Birds Eye View, and before Cordae delivers that to the world, he took a trip to the past to show off his early rap skills. In a video he posted on Instagram, Cordae shared a 19-second video of him rapping over Kanye West’s “Gone,” a track that can be found on his 2005 sophomore album Late Registration. “16 yr old me was fake nice haha,” Cordae captioned the video.

As for From A Birds Eye View, the project is set to arrive on January 14 and come complete with 14 songs including the previously-released singles “Sinister” with Lil Wayne, “Gifted” with Roddy Ricch,” and “Super.”

You can watch the freestyle in the post above.

From A Birds Eye View is out 1/14 via Atlantic. Pre-order it here.

Lil Xan Accuses Ex-Manager Of Supplying Him With Drugs During Height Of Addiction

Those manager-artist relationships can be fickle, especially once they turn sour. Lil Xan has long spoken openly about his drug addiction and throughout his career, Xan has been in and out of treatment to help with his substance abuse. Now that he is reportedly clean, Xan is calling out those who he claims aided in his addiction, and he began by accusing his former manager of supplying him with drugs.

“Do you guys remember the whole Lil Peep, the story when his management was giving him drugs and it just wasn’t helping out and all that?” Xan asked in a clip circulating online. “That happened to me on tour. My manager, well I don’t even like to call him my manager anymore, Stat Quo, remember that name, Stat Quo.”

“Because when I was on tour through 2018 to two thousand whatever, the world tours with Nicki [Minaj] and Juice [WRLD] and all that. I was a drug addict back then, right? And my manager was supplying me with the drugs.”

Xan went on to allege that his manager knew all of his plugs so if he struggled with performing due to withdrawals, “he would make calls.” The rapper claimed that Stat Quo would pay thousands to have drugs shipped to wherever they were while out on tour, no matter where they were in the world.

“He’s gonna act like he didn’t do that, like a f*ckin’ hypocrite, and I’m really feeling like I should take him to court,” Xan added. “Because that was a time I almost died from the drugs. I was so skinny, unhealthy. Yeah, but his name is Stat Quo, I’ll even f*ckin’ pin this right here… Also, he took my car away, too, that I paid the majority of the money… Now, he wants $30,000 of the remaining money to pay it off. It’s literally all my money in the car and he won’t give it to me.”

Stat Quo doesn’t seem to have answered the allegations just yet. Watch Lil Xan’s video below to hear what else he had to say about his former manager.

Jermaine Dupri Celebrates His Vegan Ice Cream Being Available At Walmart

For years, Jermaine Dupri has been actively speaking about his vegan lifestyle. The So So Def icon’s lifestyle choice may be difficult for others, but Dupri has not only worked with PETA in the past, but he’s also hosted all-vegan holiday meals for those in need. Last month, Dupri caught up with Rolling Stone to discuss his latest venture—no, not a new album, but his new line of vegan ice cream.

The Hip Hop icon has reportedly been vegan for nearly 20 years and throughout his food journey, he has been hit with a lack of options that suit his tastes. So, over the last two years, Dupri and his team have been working on “gluten-free, plant-based and non-GMO frozen desserts.”

“A lot of people who are involved in the vegan brands are not vegan,” Dupri told Rolling Stone in November. “I don’t know how people who are not vegan can be trustworthy in this space for us. I felt it was important for somebody like myself to produce something.”

JD’s Vegan has been in business, but earlier today (December 29), Dupri was excited to officially announce that his products will now be featured in Walmart stores. Hes been sharing posts for days showing fans sharing images and videdos of seeing Ddupri’s products in stores.

“We really did it!!! Yes! I’m over the moon,736 @walmart stores out the gate [mind blown emoji],” he penned in the caption to an Instagram post. “Go to JDsvegan.com, type in your zip code and find what store is close to you.” Congrats to JD! Check it out below.

Drake Shows Off Adonis’ Impressive Basketball Skills In Wholesome New Instagram Story

Champagne Papi is a basketball enthusiast, there’s no denying that. Now that the 35-year-old has a son, it seems that he’s starting young Adonis with the sport at an early age, and it may just pay off, as the 4-year-old has a pretty good shot.

On Wednesday, December 29th, Drizzy spent the evening balling with his little boy and some other friends, taking some time to share the sweet moment with fans. In a video uploaded to his Instagram story, Adonis can be seen counting his dribbles in a Nike shirt and a pair of track pants.

When he gets to 10, Drake can be heard coaching him from the sidelines, saying, “as hard as you can!” Adonis lets out a yell as he tosses the ball with all of his might, and the room erupts into a loud cheer as it swooshes into the basket. The young boy’s friend comes over to give him a congratulatory hug following his awesome shot before he yells out, “now watch this.”

The Canadian star has been sharing lots of footage of his kid this week as they spend the ongoing holiday season together. On Christmas Eve he shared a sweet video to his feed with Adonis and a friend crawling all over the “Girls Want Girls” recording artist, fighting for a chance to be in the centre of the camera.

“Merry Christmas From The Gang,” Drake captioned the adorable clip, which includes plenty of heartwarming laughs and has been viewed nearly 6.5 million times. Check it out below.

“Next Friday” Star Michael Blackson Says Ice Cube Isn’t To Blame For Actor’s Pay

A recent interview from Faizon Love has sparked a debate about Ice Cube. Love famously starred in the classic favorite Friday and while speaking with VladTV, the “Big Worm” actor revealed that he made $2,500 for his work on the film. People seemed outraged considering that Friday has gone down in history, but Ice Cube has been taking hits.

Cube not only starred in the movie but he helped produce the film, so naturally, social media users began pelting him with criticisms over not paying the actors enough. He would go on to explain that every actor was paid to scale, and while he is being vilified online, Next Friday star Michael Blackson came to Ice Cube’s defense.

“@Icecube is not to blamed for us getting paid so little it’s the film industry’s pay scale,” Blackson teeted. “I got paid $800 a day when I did Next Friday plus overtime I made $1200 for my one day’s work of ‘I can’t get giggy with the sh*t” Thanks to next Friday I became the biggest African comic.”

He added in the caption that when you aren’t as well known, you may not get paid what you want, but once you establish a name for yourself, then you can negotiate deals. Blackson once again thanked Ice Cube for the opportunity because “it got me where i am today.” Check it out in full below.

Jadakiss Says Being Healthy Is “Gangsta” On “The Pull Up”

Jadakiss takes his health just as seriously as he takes his rap career. During a recent episode of Facebook Watch’s The Pull Up, the 46-year-old spoke with “Play Around” recording artist Lil’ Cease about his dedication to fitness, and why it’s such a crucial part of his routine.

“I think healthy is gangsta,” the Yonkers-born star told his friend just over two minutes into the show as he and Cease discussed how both Kiss and his fellow LOX artist Styles P make it look cool to work out and stay in shape.

“Everybody want to be tough guys and this and that, and rich. If you not healthy, you can’t be alive to spend your money. If you not healthy, you can’t enjoy the party, you can’t enjoy the perks of life, you won’t be here to see your kids graduate, to see ’em score they first touchdown, to see things like that. So health is more important than anything.”

As Complex notes, Kiss is no stranger to showing off his physical strength. Last summer, a video of him casually doing pull-ups in New York City while wearing a pair of Timbs began circulating on Twitter, earning plenty of laughs.

The episode also saw Lil’ Cease and Jadakiss discuss the relationship between working out and mental health, and how both of the rappers witnessed their mothers pass away from illness, as well as the other losses they’ve experienced throughout their lives, have motivated them to stay in shape.

Tyler The Creator Is Thinking About Changing His Stage Name: ‘It’s Really Dumb’

Tyler The Creator has opted to use his government name, Tyler Okonma, in many of his recent creative endeavors outside of music. In a post he made to remember the late Virgil Abloh, Tyler explained that Virgil inspired him to use his government name. “Few years back i started using more of my African last name OKONMA because of how regal Virgils felt,” he wrote. “Everything he did felt like he said ‘hey over here, coast is clear’ whenever i questioned things.” It seems like Tyler’s use of his last name could occur in the music world as he recently admitted that he’s considering a change for his stage name.

“My stage name was from, I made a MySpace page when I was 13,” Tyler said during an interview with Fast Company. “I had 3 of them, one was regular for friends, another one was for something else, and then the third one was just ideas, I would put drawings and photos I would take and I would upload beats on there.” He continued, “I started using that one more and random people from Kentucky would be, like, ‘Cool beats, bro!’ And so I just kept the Tyler, The Creator thing going and, you know, I’m 17 in high school, around LA, the name’s getting around, and I kind of just kept it as my stage name.”

He then admitted that the name doesn’t appeal to him as much nowadays. “It’s really dumb but it stuck with me so it just works,” he said. “But my full name, Tyler Okonma, in all caps just looks really cool. So you might see more of that, I don’t know, I’m getting older and I think when people get older they start to realize shit, you just start changing.”

Benny The Butcher Checks Fans Worried About His Def Jam Deal

It was just over a month ago that Snoop Dogg revealed that Benny The Butcher signed a new deal with Def Jam. The Buffalo rapper would go on to share a video that showed him inking his name on the dotted line, and with a new era of his career approaches, it seems that Benny’s fans want to make sure he doesn’t lose himself to the corporate machine.

On his Instagram Story, Benny delivered a message to those that keep hitting him up about what he should and shouldn’t do during his tenure with the legendary record label.

“You n*ggas who be in my DMs, who be in my comments sayin’ like, ‘Yo, don’t let Def Jam do this‘ or ‘Don’t let Def Jam do that.’ What y’all on?” Benny questioned. “What, you think a n*gga work this hard and was this self-made for this long to get somewhere and let somebody tell me, ‘You know what, you can’t do it like this no more, you gotta do it like this.”

“Y’all gotta use y’all f*ckin’ brains before y’all start thinkin’ sh*t like that. I’mma boss. You feel what I’m sayin’? That’s how I got here, by making my own decisions and they understand that so, stop sayin’ sh*t [just to say it].”

Meanhile, Westside previously said that Benny would give Def Jam “that ’98 feel.” Check out Benny The Butcher’s video below.
