Patton Oswalt Issues Apology For NYE Picture With Dave Chappelle

Dave Chappelle continues to face backlash over comments he made in his Netflix special, The Closer in 2020 towards the trans community. Chappelle is no stranger to the criticism, either, but he doubled down on his stance as a TERF, which prompted calls for cancellation. None of those really worked, including a protest among Netflix employees.

Unfortunately, some of Chappelle’s close friends are catching strays for their proximity to him. Over the weekend, comedian Patton Oswalt shared a photo of himself and Dave Chappelle ringing in the new year. He said that he was performing a comedy set when he was invited by Chappelle to do a surprise set at the arena next door.

“Why not? I waved good-bye to this hell-year with a genius that I started comedy with 34 years ago. He works an arena like he’s talking to one person and charming their skin off. Anyway, I ended the year with a real friend and a deep laugh. can’t ask for much more,” wrote Oswalt.

The comments were filled with people expressing their disappointment in Chappelle, and Oswalt’s decision to post the photo of his friend of 34 years. Oswalt shared his response to the criticism in a subsequent post. “I saw a friend I hadn’t seen in a long time this New Year’s Eve. We’ve known each other since we’re teens. He’s a fellow comedian, the funniest I’ve ever met. I wanted to post a pic & an IG story about it — so I did. The friend is Dave Chappelle,” he wrote, explaining that Dave has “refocused and refined ideas a lot of us took as settled about race & history & Life On Planet Earth and spun them around with a phrase or punchline.”

Oswalt added that while he and Chappelle are friends, they also butt heads frequently over trans rights. “But we also 100% disagree about transgender rights & representation. I support trans peoples’ rights — ANYONE’S rights — to live safely in the world as their fullest selves,” he continued. “For all the things he’s helped ME evolve on, I’ll always disagree with where he stands NOW on transgender issues. But I also don’t believe a seeker like him is done evolving, learning. You know someone that long, see the struggles and changes, it’s impossible to cut them off.”

He added, “I’m an LGBTQ ally. I’m a loyal friend. There’s friction in those traits that I need to reconcile myself, and not let cause feels of betrayal in ANYONE else. And I’m sorry, truly sorry, that I didn’t consider the hurt this would cause.”

Off-Duty NYPD Officer Shot In Head On New Year’s Day

An NYPD officer is recovering after being shot in the head on New Year’s Day. After working an 8-hour shift at an NYE event in Central Park, the officer chose to sleep in his vehicle due to a lack of vacant beds in the NYPD dormitories. He was struck by a bullet while parked in a Manhattan police precinct lot soon after completing his shift.

The officer woke up at 6:15 a.m, suffering from a bullet wound to the head. A fellow officer assisted him and he was then transferred to a hospital where the bullet fragments were surgically removed. He did suffer a fractured skull but is currently in stable condition.

NYPD Commissioner, Keechant Sewell, released a statement shortly after, saying, “We are grateful that our officer is recovering, as we know this could have been a very tragic outcome.” The Commissioner also acknowledged the current gun control issue that is currently plaguing cities, adding, “I also truly believe this incident underscores that there are far too many guns out there in the wrong hands and too many people willing to fire those weapons, and that is something we intend to tackle head-on.” The Commissioner also noted that the bullet was fired from a significant distance and the actual target is unknown.

It is unclear who shot the officer, but the department is offering a $10K reward to anyone that has any information on the suspect. The officer is a 7-year veteran with the NYPD and his identity remains unknown at this time.

Pop Smoke Fans Are Livid About New Music Teaser

Following the lukewarm reception to Pop Smoke’s second posthumous album, Faith, it looks like the rapper’s fans are ready to let his legacy rest. As new music was teased from the late 20-year-old Brooklyn artist this week, which is reportedly coming out in 2022, fans responded to the post with hesitation, with many asking the rapper’s estate to consider against releasing something new.

Meet The Woo 1 and Meet The Woo 2 were two incredible drill projects from the rising talent out of New York, and they made way for what seemed like a perfect send-off in the form of Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, Pop’s debut studio album, which showed his mainstream potential to take over the world. However, many of the late artist’s fans believe that Faith was released too soon after SFTS, not really connecting with the songs as much. The reception of the project was not entirely positive, with some claiming that it sounded like a Pop Smoke feature album.

As new music is now being teased for the next year’s calendar, Pop’s fans are asking Steven Victor and others in charge of his music releases to allow some time before dropping another full-length.

As Pop Smoke is trending at the beginning of 2022, it’s clear that he’s still one of the most impactful rappers today, despite being gone for nearly two years. Check out what people are saying about the prospect of more posthumous albums from him below.

Lil Durk Says He’s Tired Of Dealing With “Goofies”

Lil Durk lamented his frustration with “goofies” on Instagram, over the weekend, saying that he’s tired of having to make them look tough. Durk didn’t clarify any further as to who he was referring to.

“I don’t say much but I’m tired of making goofies on our end look tuff as hell knowing n***as teddy bear,” Durk wrote on an Instagram post.

Despite Durk finishing 2021 on a frustrating note, he had a colossal year all-in-all. By New Year’s Eve, Durk had tied Taylor Swift for having the most songs on the Billboard Hot 100 of any artist across any genre. Both Durk and Swift each released 41 songs that landed on the chart.

Durk’s collaborations with Drake on “In The Bible,” Pooh Shiesty on “Back in Blood,” Coi Leray on “No More Parties” and many more helped him tie for the top spot.

On a personal note, Durk also recently proposed to his long-time girlfriend, India Royale.

“Would you wanna be my wife?” he asked Royale at a concert in December. “You know I love you to death. You’ve been holding me down when I was going through a lot. You’re the realest and I just love you to death.”

Faizon Love Quotes Ice Cube In His Explanation Of His Dave East Comments

Faizon Love and Dave East clearly have some unresolved issues between them, even if they’ve never met each other. It began when Faizon questioned Dave East’s gang affiliation by calling him a “corny ass fake Crip n***a” while also dragging MC Eiht into the rant. Eiht responded shortly after but East recently fired back, explaining that he still views Faizon Love as Big Worm from Friday.

“I asked the bro like I don’t know if I hit one of his joints. I don’t what I did. I don’t think he even got no bitches for me to hit. But my whole thing is like I never met you. This is my whole thing — like respect, bro. I ain’t got no problems with Big Worm,” East explained, adding of his alleged ties, “If you don’t believe it, you don’t believe it. If you know, you know.”

Love recently sat down on the Boss Talk podcast where he revisited his comments about Dave East and explained why he questioned the rapper’s authenticity. “Dave East, I don’t know. He just a kid. I call myself saving his life. I’m like, bruh,” he said. “How are you a Crip?”

Since California is where the Crips originally formed, Love explained that he can’t take a New Yorker like Dave East seriously when he claims a color.

“With the B-Dawgs, it’s a whole different thing. This ain’t the Boy Scouts. You didn’t grow up on my street,” Love explained. “You have to grow up on your street. Ice Cube told you, ‘Die for a street they ain’t never heard of.’ So, it’s like, that’s the only thing — I was just trying to get some clarity like, how is he a crip?”

O.J. Simpson Blasts Antonio Brown For Quitting Mid-Game

It wouldn’t be a chaotic day of football without Antonio Brown. While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured a 28-24 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, the win came with a loss. A video was released that showed AB visibly upset on the sideline and removing his jersey. Teammates can be seen pleading with the player, but he ultimately tossed his jersey into the crowd in what seemed like a mid-game retirement. Brown could be seen throwing up the deuces while making his way to the stadium’s tunnel.

Well, Brown wasn’t the only one who was upset. Former player and notorious icon, O.J. Simpson, took to Twitter to express his disdain for Brown’s actions. “One thing that we agree on, as well as other people in here, what Tom Brady has done for Antonio Brown, for him to pull what he pulled today is completely inexcusable,” he said. “Playoffs are coming up and you pull this crap on a guy who really went out on a limb for you, it’s totally B.S,” he continued.

Following the incident, Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians cut Brown from the team and made a statement to the public, saying, “He is no longer a Buc”. Arian also claims that Brown’s outburst stemmed from being asked to go into the game, which Brown allegedly refused.

Tom Brady also addressed reporters following the incident, saying, “I think everyone should be compassionate and empathetic toward some very difficult things that are happening.”

Brown quitting comes three weeks after he was suspended for three games without pay for violating COVID-19 protocols. Prior to his suspension, he signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers.
