Soulja Boy Prepares For “Aquarius” Season With New Single

The Christmas season is officially over and we’re over a week into the new year, which means the next big hallmark holiday on the calendar is Valentine’s Day. It seems like Big Draco is preparing to celebrate the day of romance with a brand new project titled, Heartbreak Soulja. Earlier today, the rapper went to the platform that broke his career to debut a new single titled, “Aquarius.” The rapper’s latest song feels directly inspired by Gunna, which is quite timely since DS4EVER dropped on Friday. Soulja gets in his loverboy bag, as he details spoiling his lady and shares his thoughts on monogamy.

Aside from a possible new project in the pipeline, Soulja Boy recently announced that his new docuseries, The Life Of Draco is set to debut on Jan. 21st on Revolt.

Check out the latest song from Soulja Boy below.

Asian Doll Gets King Von’s Initials Tattooed On Her Face

Dallas-born rapper Asian Doll had been dating late Chicago-based rapper King Von for a few weeks at the time of his murder, and she has been riding for him ever since his death. In the months following his passing, Von’s memory was etched onto Asian’s skin a total of five times, with the rapper showing off her various Von-inspired tattoos. Last week, she paid tribute to the late drill rapper yet again, getting his initials tattooed onto her face.

Asian Doll previously told her fans that she would be getting a tattoo in honor of Von on her face, taking a few months to decide on the design she wanted. She ultimately chose to get his initials marked above her eyebrow. Von, whose real name was Dayvon Daquan Bennett, now lives permanently on Asian Doll’s face in the form of her “DDB” tattoo.

This marks the sixth tattoo that Asian has gotten for King Von in the last year. She has also paid tribute to him by purchasing a realistic enamel chain with his likeness as the pendant.

“I just tatted yo name on my face,” tweeted Asian with sad emojis.

She has clearly been having a difficult time coping with the loss of her ex-boyfriend. There are moments where it feels like she’s moving on, but it’s obvious that Von just won’t leave her thoughts. She was previously in a relationship with rapper Jackboy, which didn’t work out. And last week, Asian asked Antonio Brown out on a date, who turned her down.

Check out her new face tattoo for King Von below and let us know what you think of the tribute.

Bonnaroo Drops 2022 Lineup Including J. Cole, 21 Savage & Roddy Ricch

The past few years for Bonnaroo, and music festivals in general, have been a little rough. Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has not taken place since 2019, as 2020’s show was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and 2021’s show was cancelled due to flooding and heavy rains in Tennessee from September’s Hurricane Ida.

In 2018 and 2019, tragedy struck Bonnaroo as one attendee from each respective festival lost their life. So, with all the heartbreak Bonnaroo fans and participants have had to endure, the festival hopes to bounce back this summer. Today (Jan. 11), Bonnaroo announced the lineup for their 2022 festival, taking place in Manchester, TN from June 16-19. A four day affair, hip-hop acts like J. Cole, 21 Savage, Roddy Ricch, Machine Gun Kelly, Denzel Curry, $UICIDEBOY$ and more will join a diverse cast of pop, rock, R&B and several other genres of performers like Tool and Stevie Nicks.

The Bonnaroo Farm, where the festival grounds are, is located just 60 miles southeast of Nashville, and will include 10 different stages for performers. Tickets for the festival go on sale Thursday (Jan. 13) at 1 p.m. ET, as options include General Admission (4-Day), GA+ (4-Day), VIP (4-Day), Platinum (4-Day), General Admission Camping & Parking, VIP Camping, Platinum Camping, and more. Calboy Is Back With A New Freesyle Over Money Man’s “LLC”

Calboy hit the ground running since the year started eleven days ago. The Chicago rapper showed a promising trajectory with the release of 2019’s Wildboy and 2020’s Love Live The Kings. However, things have been rather slow in the past year. Perhaps, it’s due to the pandemic, among other factors. Fans are still hoping that he comes through with a new album this year.

Before we get another body of work from the rapper, it looks like he’s going to continue dumping new freestyles to build anticipation. After taking on Kodak Black’s latest top 10 record on the Billboard Hot 100, “Super Gremlin,” he came through with his new freestyle over Money Man’s latest hit record, “LLC.”

Check Calboy’s new freestyle below and sound off in the comments with your thoughts.

Quotable Lyrics
I been trappin’ hard, break it down, rack it in
If I hit her once, she in past, she won’t be back again
Opposition dead, we hit his head, he won’t be back again
Every time we talk, you need some bread, don’t hit my jack again

Kim Kardashian Is Happy To See Kanye West Dating Her “Die-Hard” Fan Julia Fox, Sources Say

The Kimye divorce saga continues. If you’ve been online at all in 2022, you’ve likely heard about Julia Fox and Kanye West’s relationship, which began shortly after they met on New Years Eve, and conveniently, appears to be just as intense as the rapper’s estranged wife, Kim Kardashian’s partnership with her new boo, comedian Pete Davidson.

Nearly every day there’s been a handful of headlines about either pair, as they seemingly compete for the Hottest New Couple of the Year Award. Most recently, sources close to the SKIMS founder have been in contact with TMZ, telling the outlet that the 41-year-old is “happy to see [Ye] out smiling again.”

“[Kim] only wants to see him end up with a good person – something that’s up to Kanye to figure out – and not for [her] to judge,” the report from the gossip site explains.

Just a few days ago, internet sleuths (and fans of the Uncut Gems actress) realized that she actually publicly addressed the Kardashian-West divorce on her Forbidden Fruits Spotify podcast, not long before she herself started seeing the “Flashing Lights” recording artist.

“I have been watching Keeping Up since it first came out in 2007 when watching it was embarrassing,” she told listeners on the December episode, before calling herself a “die-hard, OG fan.” Sources say that Kim is glad to know her ex’s new girl isn’t a hater and thinks that it “could be a good sign of things to come in co-parenting” with Ye if everyone gets along well as their relationship continues to grow.

At this point, the mother of four is said to be “fully moved on” from her romantic relationship with the Yeezy creator as she continues to spend time with Davidson. Most recently, the socialite and the Saturday Night Live star took a trip to the Bahamas together – read more about that here.

Young Dolph’s Death: A Timeline Of Events

The hip-hop industry has yet to shake back after losing one of the realest and most influential rappers in the game. Adolph Thorton Jr., better known as Young Dolph, was killed on November 17, 2021 in his hometown.

Raised in Memphis, TN, Dolph, who was 36-years old when he passed, always showed love and support for the city. On the day he was killed, he had returned to his neighborhood to hand out turkeys for Thanksgiving, but was gunned down while trying to buy cookies for his mother.

Since his unexpected passing, thousands have expressed their condolences, actions have been taken by the police to find his killers, and the city of Memphis has been honoring his legacy in more than one way.

We’ve put together a timeline of events following the rapper’s tragic loss, compiling all the information we know thus far.

Get Away Vehicle Found

A day after Dolph’s death, the getaway car driven by his murderers was identified. Two days after that, the car was found and social media quickly became aware: neighbors began live streaming and posting pictures of the police towing the two-door, white Mercedes Benz, which they located in the driveway of a home just three miles from the crime scene.

Thanks to those images and videos, fans were able to then match the house from where the getaway car was parked with the same house in a music video filmed by Memphis artist Straight Drop called “Going Straight In.” This later led to the theory that he is responsible for Dolph’s murder (more on this below).

Relocation of Makeda’s Cookie Shop

Dolph was gunned down at Makeda’s Cookies– a shop he loved and visited every time he came back to the city. Since the shooting, the owners have yet to reopen the Airways location, where the incident occurred. Instead, it has become a shrine where both fans and family have been leaving memorabilia to honor Dolph. With this location out of service, Makeda’s re-opened in a brand new spot in downtown Memphis. The operations manager, Raven Winton, told Fox 13 Memphis that the shop plans to honor Dolph in a more permanent way, by naming his favorite cookie– chocolate chip– after him.

Mia Jaye’s Tribute

Mia Jaye, 32, was Dolph’s life partner. She mothered both of their kids– Tre and Aria Thorton. Since Dolph’s passing, Jaye has deleted all photos from her Instagram except those with him in them. The three posts that remain live on her page each showcase a memory of her late husband. In her most recent post, shared on Christmas Eve, she reminisced about how much Dolph loved the holidays, while issuing a thoughtful warning: “For every man considering to take another mans’ life, think of the holes you will tear in the heart of their family.”

Mia is also the founder of Black Men Deserve to Grow Old, a foundation that advocated for the lives of black men. Since her partner’s passing, the company has released clothing that features an image of Dolph’s face as well as their slogan on the front.

Key Glock Grieves

Not only were Key Glock and Young Dolph coworkers, they were also cousins. Glock did not immediately respond to the news of Dolph’s death right away, leaving fans anxious in his wake. A few days after the shooting, he took to his Instagram story to say, “STOP asking me if I’m ok Knowing d**n well I ain’t…”

Five days after Dolph’s death, Glock posted ten images on Instagram of him and his late cousin. His caption stated, “Damn bro, I’m lost. My heart is torn, my brain bout to explode, it HURTS when I breathe.. Why you leave me so soon??”

To further pay tribute, the PRE artist performed Dolph’s songs at Rolling Loud in Los Angeles in December. He, along with O.T. Genasis, rapped on of Dolph’s most notorious songs “Preach,” as the crowd sang along word for word.

To pay homage to his cousin and allow his legacy to live on, Glock also got a tattoo of Dolph’s face on his forearm.

Street Named After Dolph

On December 15, 2021, the city of Memphis renamed the area of Dunn near Airways and Hayes to Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. Avenue. The street resides in Castalia Heights, where the rapper spent his childhood. The rapper’s family, friends, and fans gathered as the black and gold street sign was unveiled to honor his legacy. His aunt, Rita Myers, said to Action News 5, “Adolph brought resources and revenue to Memphis. When he did his massive videos, they were done in Castalia. They were done in South Memphis. He brought revenue to this city.”

FedExForum Memorial

A day after receiving his street sign, a “Celebration of Life” memorial was held at the FedExForum in Memphis on December 16, 2021. While his close family and friends had their own service for Dolph, this event was opened to the public. Tickets to the service sold out in 90 minutes. There were thousands of fans who lined up to pay their respects to the legend. The celebration included remarks from his loved ones as well as special performances from people signed under his label.

Though unrelated to Dolph’s case, outside of the Forum at the memorial, police arrested three men. One was arrested for driving a stolen Infiniti Q40. The other two, Guyland Key and Antwon Flynn, were arrested for attempting to flee the scene after driving their car into a pole.

Blac Youngsta vs. Grove Hero

Grove Hero is a comedian and philanthropist from Memphis, Tennessee. He is known for his numerous business endeavors and his funny personality. He is also a representative under Dolph’s label, Paper Route Empire, and so they were very close.

Blac Youngsta, meanwhile, had a long-standing beef with Paper Route Empire. After Dolph turned down the offer to be signed to CMG, Yo Gotti’s label, Blac Youngsta seemingly honed in on the beef. When Dolph was shot at over 100 times in Charlotte, Youngsta turned himself into authorities for playing a part in the shooting.

The two continued their feud through music. One of Youngsta’s most popular songs is “Shake Sum,” which is a Young Dolph diss. He performed that song at a nightclub in Dallas weeks after Dolph’s passing, which rubbed Grove Hero the wrong way. He took to social media to offer the rapper a warning of sorts, writing, “@Blacyoungsta don’t make me get on your a**. Bra (Dolph) dead you ain’t got to do all that.” To take things further, Grove drove through Youngsta’s grandma’s neighborhood to purportedly show that he hasn’t done anything for the city– unlike Dolph, who consistently gave back to his.

Since then, Youngsta dropped a music video to a song called, “I’m Assuming.” In the video, he can be seen in a cemetery standing in front of a tombstone with the last name Thorton. Fans speculate that this was done intentionally as a way to mock Dolph’s death.

Justin Johnson Wanted for Murder

Justin Johson, also known as Straight Drop, is a rapper from Memphis who is now the main suspect in the murder of Dolph. Fans speculated that he had ties to the shooting once they recognized that the location of the getaway car was featured in his music video for “Going Straight In” (the video has since been taken off the internet)– and they were ultimately proven correct. On January 5, 2022, the Memphis Police Department issued a first-degree murder warrant for Johnson. They promised a $2,500 reward for information that would lead to his capture. He was also placed on the Most Wanted List and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Johnson posted a message on his Instagram Story days later, seemingly confirming he would turn himself in: “Turning myself in Monday @201 I’m innocent. I’ll be back sooner than you can blink.” 201 refers to 201 Poplar, which is the men’s jail in Memphis, TN.

Despite promising to surrender himself on January 10, the fledgling artist dropped a music video instead, titled “Track Hawk,” and has since disappeared from Instagram, with his account now disabled or deleted.

There is some sort of history between Johnson and Dolph, although the exact details are unclear. Johnson, 23, was spotted in the background of a picture with Young Dolph taken in 2018. Even though the two were seen together, Johnson obviously felt some type of animosity, as, when he caught wind of the picture that same year, he took to Facebook to state, “They needa scratch my face out this s**t.” Photos have also surfaced of Johnson posing with a PRE (Paper Route Empire) chain. However, according to rumors in Memphis, the chain was stolen from one of Dolph’s artists.

Young Dolph Tribute Album

Paper Route Empire announced a tribute album from their founder on January 10. Titled Long Live Dolph, the project is set to include songs from artists like Key Glock, Kenny Muney, Big Moochie Grape and more. It will be released on January 21.

The first single, by rapper Jay Fizzle, is titled “LLD.” Played over a somber piano beat, Fizzle raps, “I f****d up plenty times, but you ain’t never threaten to cut me off. Always had my back and everybody knew I wanted to be like Dolph.”

While Dolph’s murder isn’t officially solved yet, it seems a lot of progress has been made. Now a month and a half since his death, and authorities, alongside help from his most loyal fans, have been able to identify their main suspect. Let’s hope the story continues to unravel from here, and Dolph’s family is able to get some closure.

Long Live Dolph.

“Deltacron” Variant Goes Viral For Looking Like Future’s “DS2” Cover

Each new day, it feels like there’s a new variant that pops up. This pandemic has been a nightmare to navigate. It’s been difficult to plan for the future because, well, nobody knows what the future looks like. And now, variants are collaborating and releasing remix tapes, with the Flurona (influenza and COVID-19 at the same time) and Deltacron (Delta and Omicron variants together) taking over in recent weeks.

Canadian network CTV shared an update on the Deltacron situation this week, including a photo of the virus from a lab. Immediately, the network’s quote tweets were flooded with hip-hop fans who realized that Atlanta rapper Future might have been ahead of his time because Deltacron looks incredibly similar to the album cover for DS2, which dropped in 2015.

Future’s “DS2” album cover

One of his most influential albums, Future fans can spot the purple, blue, and pink smoke cloud from DS2 anywhere. Those same blue and purple tones struck fans as they looked at the Deltacron image, remarking an obvious similarity.

“Future’s influence is unmatched,” joked one person under the busy Twitter thread. Another person doctored the Deltacron image and added Future’s logo, presenting it as the latest addition to the rapper’s discography.

Was the DS2 album cover foreshadowing the pandemic? Check out a curated list of reactions below.

Cordae Appears On Jimmy Fallon Show, Performs Two Songs From Upcoming Album

This is the final week of rollout for Cordae’s sophomore album From A Bird’s Eye View, which is set to release Friday (Jan. 14). Along with three promotional singles, a cover announcement, a preparatory freestyle inspired by Kendrick Lamar and a tour announcement, Cordae released the album’s tracklist yesterday (Jan. 10), revealing tons of high-profile features and producers for the project.

R&B icons like Stevie Wonder and H.E.R., legendary lyricists like Eminem, Nas and Lil Wayne and notable trap artists like Gunna and Lil Durk assist on the project with production from Hit-Boy, Boi-1da, MixedByAli and many more excellent beat-makers.

Hours after the tracklist dropped, Cordae paid a visit to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, as he discussed the album and performed two songs from it. His short performance began with his December single “Sinister,” which features Lil Wayne and will be the ninth song on From A Bird’s Eye View. The second and last song he played was “Chronicles,” which will feature H.E.R. and Lil Durk, and serves as an emotional, heartfelt sung track.

When he sat down with Jimmy Fallon, Cordae explained that the album’s title and meaning stems from looking at life as bigger than just yourself: “It means to see things from outside of yourself. As human beings, we tend to all have, like, main character syndrome. It’s to see things from a more zoomed-out lens. That’s, like, me and you can get in an argument on TV—hopefully not, right?—but we can get in an argument here and I can leave here like, ‘Oh man, you know, Jimmy, he’s kinda, like, not a nice guy.’ But to see things from a bird’s eye view is like, ‘Oh, I can understand how I was wrong in this way.’ So to see things from a wider lens and more broader perspective.”

Are you excited for Cordae’s first album since his 2019 debut?
