Su’Lan Bears No Filter In Their Bashful Video For ‘We Talking Sh*t Again’

The Bay Area has given plenty to the hip-hop world, whether it be certified legends like E-40 and Too Short, who competed in a Verzuz at the end of 2020, or more modern acts like Saweetie, Mozzy, Guapdad 4000, and Larry June. Add genre-influencing acts like the late Drakeo The Ruler and it’s clear that the region is more than worthy of recognition. Now there’s female rap duo Su’Lan, who have impressed many with their releases over the past couple of months.

One of them includes “We Talking Sh*t Again,” which recently received the music video treatment. The video captures the duo’s menacing approach, both with the performers’ aggressive demeanors and the militant support they receive from their crew. Su’Lan also delivers several cut-throat bars that aim to deliver the highest dose of disrespect possible towards their opponents. The track appears on their EP Free Su’Lan, which they released at the end of 2021. The album is also home to their single “Blue Cheese,” which also received a music video.

Prior to Free Su’LanBaby Glock Gang in 2020 and Tia & Tamera in 2019.

Russell Westbrook Responds To Magic Johnson’s Recent Criticism

Russell Westbrook says that Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is “entitled to his opinion” while responding to his recent criticism of the team. The Lakers are currently 21-22 and in 7th place in the Western Conference.

“I do not have a reaction,” Westbrook said when asked about Johnson’s recent comments.

He continued: “Magic’s entitled to his opinion. And he’s not here every day. He’s not around us every day. He’s not aware of what’s going on internally with us and trying to figure things out. But I have no response to that. … Like I said, everyone in this world is entitled to their opinion and that’s that.”

On Saturday, the Lakers suffered a 37-point loss to the Denver Nuggets. The blowout defeat marked the second-largest loss of LeBron James’ career. This is also the first time since James’ rookie season that his team has been below .500, 43 games into the season.

In response to the loss, Johnson wrote on Twitter that Lakers fans deserve a better effort.

“We as Lakers fans can accept being outplayed but we deserve more than a lack of effort and no sense of urgency,” Magic Johnson tweeted. “Owner Jeanie Buss, you deserve better.”

YK Osiris Admits He Doesn’t Make Smart Bets, Gets Clowned With Giant Check

YK Osiris explained his recent financial troubles by admitting that he doesn’t “make smart bets.” The Jacksonville rapper was offered $65,000 during an interview with Barstool Sports in the form of a giant check, but Osiris says it’s still not enough to cover his debts.

“I think I just don’t make smart bets. I just jump in the water and swim,” Osiris admitted when asked why he owes so much money. “Are you going to save me?”

The hosts responded by bringing in a giant check for $65,000 and asking if that’s enough to cover his debt.

“I need more than that man,” Osiris said, laughing in response. “How can I get more?”

In recent months, rappers across the industry have joked about being owed money from Osiris. In December, Drake had the “Worth It” singer perform live for him in order to cover his debts.

Osiris wasn’t even able to ring in the New Year in peace, as French Montana pulled up on him at the club to demand his money.

“I found my n***a,” Montana said on his Instagram at the time. “He owe me some money. He don’t wanna pay me, but I’m gonna get my money.”

“I’ll give you that back, give me two more weeks,” Osiris responded with a grin.

Video Surfaces Of Prisoners Turning Up To Playboi Carti Behind Bars

Playboi Carti’s 2020 Christmas album Whole Lotta Red left a cultural impact in hip-hop that is still felt today. His innovative ad-lib heavy sound and energy-inducing trap production created a lighting-in-a-bottle moment for the genre with WLRand fans can never get enough of it.

The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 100,000 units sold. In December 2021, the album received its RIAA Gold certification with 500,000 sales, and now looks to cross the Platinum finish line next. At the end of the year, Rolling Stone named WLR their No. 1 hip-hop album of the year in their “20 Best Hip-Hop Albums List,” exemplifying how much the project is appreciated in the rap community.

Yesterday, a video surfaced in an unknown United States prison of the prisoners in the facility listening to “Stop Breathing,” the album’s third song. The man recording the video of all the men enjoying the song sings along to the exciting lyrics: “On the way to Front Street, who say we ain’t outside? (Yeah) / Smokin’ on the Henchmen (What?), got a n***a fried.”

It is evident by this video that Americans all across the country still love Whole Lotta Red, even those with reduced access to streaming platforms and devices in prison. Check out the video of prisoners bumping Playboi Carti’s “Stop Breathing” below.

JAY-Z Returns To Twitter To Discuss “In My Lifetime, Vol. 1” Album

JAY-Z has notoriously been known for using his Twitter sparingly. He did not access his account once in 2019 and 2020, and only tweeted a handful of times in 2021. However, when he joined a Twitter Spaces chat with Genius’ Rob Markman around Christmas 2021, he inspired many headlines by saying nobody could beat him in a Verzuzcomparing Beyoncé to Michael Jackson and providing more provocative takes

It seems that he is growing fonder of the app by the day now, as a Questlove tweet inspired him to use Twitter once again. On Sunday (Jan. 16), Questlove tweeted at JAY-Z praising his In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 1997 sophomore album, replying to a tweet that said a single off the album “Sunshine” is over-hated: “Our main argument is his hate for Vol 1. He is embarrassed for trying to make a monster & not putting numbers up. But ALOT of this lp contains his best moments. Fight me @sc”

It appears that Questlove knows Hov has disdain for that album as he felt it did not live up to his expectations sales-wise. Eight hours later, JAY-Z logged into Twitter and responded by agreeing that some of his best moments are on the album, but that he could have made the entire album better: “Agreed . More so, I know what could have been, so it haunts me … streets is watching was the first song made !”

Hopefully this prompts JAY-Z to continue participating in hip-hop discourse on Twitter, as fans would love to see him more active on the app.

BigKayBeezy Adds Big Yavo To “Area 51” Remix

Steadily over the past two years, Chicago’s BigKayBeezy has become one of the most underrated artists in the game at the moment. With co-signs from Pooh Shiesty and Ron Suno in 2021, Beezy now looks to level up 2022.

For his first release of the year, BigKayBeezy decided to revamp his January 2020 hit “Area 51,” which still stands as one of the most popular tracks of his catalog two years later. For the remix, Big Vayo assists with a brand new verse on the second half of the track.

As gun sound ad-libs are sprinkled all throughout the track, BigKayBeezy keeps his original first verse and hook in tact, allowing Yavo to bring a fresh sound to the instrumental on the back-half. With his imposing, low-pitched flow, Yavo spits menacing bars about getting to his back and living with no regrets.

BabyTron Puts On Flow-Switching Clinic With “Prince Of The Mitten”

Michigan’s BabyTron has been one of the most intriguing and celebrated underground rappers of the past few years. His flows are concise and filled with amusing allusions, and his cleverness allows him to dominate any beat he raps over.

BabyTron releases music quite frequently, having put out two solo projects in 2021, each with at least 24 songs, as well as two separate collaborative albums with his fellow ShittyBoyz members like StanWill and TrDee. He is most notable for his basketball references, such as his Luka Troncic album and hit singles like “Jesus Shuttlesworth” and “Cade Cunningham.”

Now, starting 2022, he has dropped a single that synthesizes all of his most notable attributes. “Prince Of The Mitten,” released on Jan. 10, is a four-and-a-half minute exhibition of everything BabyTron brings to the table.

In the comments of the video for the song, the engineer of the track StefanOtw mentioned that the song included a whopping 19 beat switches: “Engineered by me. 19 beats on one song bro you went crazy.”

The song includes several different trap beats from hits by other rappers like Teejayx6’s “Dark Web,” Sada Baby’s “Whole Lotta Choppas” and 42 Dugg’s “Free Mines.”

Monaleo Throws A Raucous House Party In Her Vibrant Video For ‘We Not Humping’

After earning a lot of attention last year, rising Houston rapper Monaleo wasted no time getting to work in 2022. In 2021, she had her breakout single “Beating Down Yo Block,” plus an appearance on fellow Houston native Maxo Kream’s Weight Of The World album. She ended the year by dropping the single “We Not Humping,” which she recently graced with a video. In it, Monaleo and her boyfriend and rapper Stunna 4 Vegas throw a raucous house party that upsets at least one of her neighbors, but that proves to be the least of her worries.

The video is set to be the latest offering from Monaleo’s upcoming debut project, which is set to arrive spring of this year. The song also captured her growing popularity as the video became her quickest to tally 100,000 views, doing so in just a day. In addition to records like “Beating Down Yo Block” and “We Not Humping,” Monaleo has also shown her versatility through the muscle-flexing “Suck It Up” and the warm-spirited “Girls Outside.”

Other highlights in Monaleo’s career so far include being selected for Beyonce’s Summer 2021 Ivy Park campaign and Youtube Music’s Foundry Class of 2021.
