Gunna Delivers First Verse Sinc His Release From Jail On Ufo361’s “BRODIES”

Gunna hasn’t dropped a “First Day Out” freestyle yet but he quietly made his return to music this week on German artist Ufo361’s single, “BRODIES.”

This morning, Ufo361 released the new single, as well as an accompanying visual. The song boasts production from Neal & Alex, Oz, and The Cratez, who cook up an exhilarating and glossy soundscape for Ufo361 and Gunna’s collab. The ATL rapper takes on the first verse where he dishes on a life of luxury after claiming that he’s “countin’ bands with my brodies.” Though it’s not the return that many anticipated, Gunna clearly hasn’t lost his touch since his incarceration.

In contrast to Gunna’s more melodic delivery, Ufo361 comes through swinging with a rapid triplet flow. He raps largely in German while throwing in a bit of English throughout his lyrics.

“Brodie” marks Gunna’s first piece of music he’s dropped since he was released in December. It’s also the second collaboration between Gunna and Ufo361. The two previously collided on the single, “On Time” in 2019.

Some had doubts that Gunna would come home to a prosperous career. And while it feels like only a few rappers continue to show their support for the DS4EVER rapper, he’s clearly getting love overseas. Perhaps, it’s a sign that we’ll be hearing Gunna explore international sounds in the future, especially as many of his close friends and collaborators distance themselves from him.

I’m stickin’ to my plan, ’bout that cash, I can’t bargain
Oh, yeah, I’m a top artist
With a bag full of narcotics
Hear the horses when you start it

Wack 100 Details His Partnership With Tekashi 6ix9ine

Tekashi 6ix9ine has seen Gunna’s recent statement and support for YSL and thinks it is all a joke.

Doubling down in his stance that he did not snitch, Gunna wrote on Instagram: “N***as acting like they switching to a side But it’s only one side. #YslTheLabel #FreeThug & Yak GUNNA BACC!!!!!”

In the image, Gunna is seen sitting in what can be considered a living room with a studio set up, presumably getting ready to craft new music.

6ix9ine hit Gunna’s comments to offer criticism: “In court you said it was a gang here on IG u saying the label,” the rainbow-haired rapper wrote. “Lol u can’t make this shit up.”

The statement is the first for Gunna since his attorney released one in December. The attorney, Steve Sadow, hit social media to shut down lies.

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail,” Sadow wrote. “He has said nothing and is not cooperating. His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”

Gunna pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge in the YSL RICO case that landed himself, Young Thug, and more in jail.

According to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta, Gunna, born Sergio Kitchens, appeared before a judge on Wednesday, taking the Alford plea, citing pleading guilt was his best interest while maintaining innocence.

Gunna was sentenced to five years, with one serving in prison. The one-year is commuted to time served, while the four-year balance is suspended and will result in a special arrangement, including 500 hours of community service.

Gunna released a statement after the sentence:

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Gunna can be called to testify, but he can claim the Fifth Amendment.
