Bradley Beal has spent his entire career in DC. After a year with the Florida Gators, in which they reached the Elite Eight, the Wizards took Beal third overall in the 2012 draft. Since then, he has been a core part of a Wizards team that has never really been a contender.

After back-to-back second-round appearances in Beal’s second and third years on the team, the Wizards have been perennial bottom-feeders in the Eastern Conference. They’ve made the playoffs just three times since 2017, including just once in the last five seasons. In 2022/23, the team went 35-47 for the second consecutive year. The Wizards currently hold the eighth pick in the upcoming draft, but could they be about to add more premium capital?

Beal And Wizards Working On Trade

Per Shams Charania and Joshua Robbins, the Wizards and Beal are working together to find a trade for Beal, in the event that the team “elects to reset the roster in the near future.” ESPN is already floating that the Knicks and Sixers could be in the running, or at least interested in the services of, the veteran guard. Beal’s contract contains a no-trade clause, meaning that the Wizards will have to find a deal that Beal approves of to proceed. Charania’s language also implies that moving Beal is not an immediate concern, but something the Wizards are looking into as an option.

Speaking on Beal’s contract, the guard is entering the second year of a five-year deal. He will be owed $46.7 million this season and will be locked in until a player option year in 2026. While Beal does have plenty to bring to a team, finding a partner willing to deal could be difficult. With the no-trade clause in place and the Wizards’ status, Beal will likely want to be moved to a contender. That definitely narrows down the options. However, if the Wizards were to blow it up, the Blazers could also be a potential trade partner as they look to build a team around Damian Lillard. Bradley Beal Sued Over Heated Fan Interaction

Bradley Beal faced angry fans after a Washington Wizards loss last month. During the disagreement, a fan told Beal that he lost him money on a sports bet. Beal responded that he didn’t really care about the fan’s bets and let the fan know just as much. Now it looks as if Beal will be taken to court over the post-game incident. According to TMZ Sports, the fan in question, Kyler Briffa, claims that Beal got physical with him during the altercation.

Since the filing of the lawsuit, Beal’s attorney, Dan Morgan, has commented on the potential lawsuit. “No charges have been filed and he is now trying to change the narrative,” Morgan said. “We will make sure the standard is clear — you can’t harass people, call them racial slurs, talk about their family, insult their character… and then turn around a sue them on top of that.” It appears that Beal and his legal team will be taking this to court to prove no wrongdoing was done by the Washington star.

Bradley Beal has found himself at the center of a police investigation. According to TMZ Sports, the Washington Wizards guard was involved in a confrontation with hecklers after a game last week.

The game happened in Orlando when Beal’s team lost 122-112 to the Orlando Magic. A fan allegedly screamed at Beal,”You f***ed me [out of] $1,300, you f***!”

Lakers Add Rui Hachimura in Trade with Wizards

The Los Angeles Lakers have struck first in the 2023 NBA trade market. The Lake Show sends guard Kendrick Nunn and three second-round picks for the Washington Wizards for swingman Rui Hacimura.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal includes a 2023 second-round pick from Chicago, the 2029 Lakers pick, and the less favorable pick between the two.

Last week, Hachimura announced he wanted to play somewhere else. The Lakers plan on signing Hachimura to an extension in the offseason.

“I just want to be somewhere that wants me as a basketball player,” Hachimura said. “And I want to be somewhere that likes my game. … I just want to be somewhere that believes in me and I can be myself. That’s my goal.”

Hachimura is expected to assist LeBron James and the Lakers with 3-point shooting and defense.

“Adding both size and depth to the wing position has been a goal, and the chance to accomplish that by acquiring a player with Rui’s two-way skills and upside was an opportunity that doesn’t present itself often,” Lakers vice president of basketball operations and GM Rob Pelinka said.

Hachimura is averaging 13 points and 4.3 rebounds this season.
