Diddy Sees Jump in Streams Since Federal Indictment

Can’t stop won’t stop is a real thing, at least when it comes to Diddy’s music catalog. Sean Combs extensive songs, albums and collaborations have experienced a notable increase in streams following his recent arrest and the unsealing of an indictment against him.

Look, that was expected. People are going to play his music more out of sheer curiosity.

Get this, according to Luminate, a leading industry data and analytics company, Combs’ music, spanning his various monikers — including Diddy, Puff Daddy, and P. Diddy — saw an 18.3% rise in on-demand streams during the week of his arrest, compared to the week prior.

George Howard, a professor of music business management at Berklee College of Music, stated, “Music just becomes another piece of information as people try to comprehend the atrocities,” Howard explained to The Associated Press. “It’s like, ‘What would someone whose brain works like that, allegedly, what would their music sound like?’”

What’s more is people also noted that many people may now associate Combs more with his various business ventures, such as Revolt TV and Ciroc vodka (although he’s no longer affiliated with either), than with his music career.

“The natural curiosity that these types of charges evoke makes sense,” Howard added. “It’s like driving by a car crash. People want to look.”

Such increases in streaming numbers following controversy are not uncommon. For instance, after a documentary accused R. Kelly of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls, his streaming numbers nearly doubled.

Howard went on to point out that the “anonymization” of streaming might be contributing to the spike in plays for both Combs and Kelly. “Imagine walking into a record store now like, ‘Yeah, I want to buy this Diddy CD,’” he said.

No matter how you feel about Diddy, he’s made more music than most humans alive and avoiding it is not going to be easy, even for those who want to.

Al B. Sure! Wants New Investigation Into Death of Kim Porter

This is Diddy thing getting exhausting and darker by the day. Al B. Sure!, the R&B singer and former partner of the late model Kim Porter, is demanding an investigation into her sudden and tragic death, particularly in light of the recent arrest of Sean “Diddy” Combs, who also had a relationship with Porter. Porter, who passed away in 2018, was reportedly working on a book that, according to Al B. Sure!, may have exposed troubling individuals in her life.

Here’s what went down.

On Monday, September 23, Al B. Sure! took to Instagram to express his suspicions, posting three detailed messages.

Sure suggested that Porter’s death may have involved foul play, due to her intent to reveal sensitive information in her planned memoir.

Get this, he also alleged that her original book notes were stolen by “publicists and conspirators,” who acted on the orders of an unnamed individual. Al B. Sure! further claims that he has faced threats to his own life for attempting to uncover the truth. This comes after he insinuated earlier this year that Diddy could have been involved in his own coma in 2022.

“For over a decade and a half, I’ve been posting about, and tagging random law enforcement agencies in hopes to protect loved ones, avoid deaths & tragedies that could have all been avoided. Despite this, I have been ignored, ridiculed and medically silenced to cover up these crimes you’re all now aware of by a very aggressive #PR Team and costly campaign to silence and physically harm me from exposing,”

Al B. Sure! Went on to write “It only aimed to prevent me from further sharing publicly the ifacts and insights @LadyKP shared with me during our frequent and intimate conversations in her selfless attempts to save my life by sharing frequent plans to do harm, and possibly by ending my life.”

In his sincere plea, Al B. Sure! formally called for an investigation into the group of individuals who worked in or around Porter’s home. He claimed that these individuals, including publicists, were responsible for stealing her computer and mobile devices, which contained the “original book notes.”

What’s more, he also addressed a controversial tell-all book about Kim Porter that was circulated on Amazon, which he said contains false and offensive information.

This is wild.

Al B. Sure! is now urging authorities to take a deeper look into Kim Porter’s death and the individuals involved, as he continues to push for what he believes to be the truth behind her untimely passing.

Questlove Directing Documentary on Earth, Wind & Fire

Questlove, has become quite the documentarian. The Grammy- and Oscar-winning filmmaker, is set to direct an upcoming documentary on the legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire.

Here’s the rundown.

The upcoming film will explore the group’s lasting legacy, their cultural influence, and their enduring catalog of music.

Get this, the doc will have exclusive access to the band’s extensive archives, including visual, audio, and written materials, and is being made with the support of Maurice White’s estate and the band itself.

In a statement, here’s what Questlove expressed saying, “Having been baptized in the Afrocentric joy river of this powerhouse unit, I’ve learned about them, I’ve learned about us & more importantly, I’ve learned and rediscovered myself in the process. I’m so excited to be part of the process of preserving their positive but VERY vulnerable and real story of Soul, Self & Struggle.”

What’s more, Earth, Wind & Fire band members Philip Bailey, Verdine White, and Ralph Johnson also shared their enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We look forward to this in-depth journey of our band, and are so excited to have Questlove directing the documentary.”

Check this, in addition to directing, Questlove will produce the film alongside RadicalMedia’s Dave Sirulnick and Samantha Grogin; KB White of Broken Halo Entertainment, the son of Maurice White; and Arron Saxe of Kinfolk Management + Media. FIFTH SEASON will finance and handle sales for the film, with WME also involved in the distribution.

As far as legends go, with a career spanning decades, Earth, Wind & Fire is one of the most successful and influential pop bands in history. They have sold over 90 million records, had 11 consecutive gold or platinum albums, and won six Grammys. Their iconic songs include classics like “September,” “Reasons,” and “Shining Star.”

Behind the camera, Zarah Zohlman and Shawn Gee of Two One Five Entertainment, founded by Questlove and Black Thought, will serve as executive producers alongside Jon Kamen of RadicalMedia, Cheo Hodari Coker, and Amos Newman.

Philip “Daddae” Harvey, Founding Member of Soul II Soul, Passes Away at 60

Philip “Daddae” Harvey, a founding member of the iconic British musical group Soul II Soul, has passed away at the age of 60. The news of his sudden death was shared on the group’s social media pages, with his family confirming the tragic event on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

In an emotional statement posted on Instagram, the Harvey family wrote: “The Harvey family are truly saddened to announce the passing of Philip ‘Daddae’ Harvey on the afternoon of Tuesday 10th September 2024. He had some health issues, however, his death was sudden and unexpected.” The family added, “We are all in shock and are focusing on looking after our Mum, his son and each other. Philip leaves with us his love of family, his passion for music, and his excitement of finding joy in the simplest things.”

Soul II Soul, which Harvey helped form in 1988, became a defining force in the UK’s music scene with their blend of R&B, soul, and reggae. Keke Palmer And SZA’s R-Rated Buddy Comedy Slated For Winter Release From Sony & TriStar

Winter cometh with laughs. Sony Pictures has set the release date for the upcoming untitled R-rated buddy comedy starring Keke Palmer and SZA, scheduled for January 24, 2025.

Deadline Hollywood was the first to report the film project, which comes from TriStar Pictures, is directed by Lawrence Lamont with a screenplay penned by Syreeta Singleton. Feels like a winning combination.

Get this, the film is the product of Sony’s CoCre lab, a collaboration with ColorCreative aimed at finding and nurturing new, diverse screenwriters. This is what the industry needs, so we’re here for it.

Now diving in, this initiative is designed to help these emerging talents develop and write their first feature films based on original concepts.

Okay, so addition to its lead stars Palmer and SZA, the film has a dope supporting cast, including Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage, and Amin Joseph. Feels like the talent is stellar all around so has to be a goodie, right?

What’s more is the production is backed by some major industry players, including Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi from Hoorae, Deniese Davis from ColorCreative, and Macro Film Studios’ Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks. Singleton serves as co-producer, while Keke Palmer and Sharon Palmer take on executive producer roles. Macro Film Studios is also co-financing the project. A lot of heavy hitters here. That’s key to nurturing a great project from development to release.

Interestingly, the film’s release will coincide with several other anticipated titles, such as Flight Risk from Lionsgate, directed by Mel Gibson and starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Dockery, Angel Studios’ Brave the Dark, and IFC’s Inheritance, directed by Neil Burger and starring Phoebe Dynevor.

With its star studded cast and backing from prominent producers, the untitled comedy is generating excitement as it promises to bring a fresh, bold take to the big screen in 2025.

Diddy Under Suicide Watch In Federal Detention Center As Precautionary Measure

In a new development, Sean “Diddy” Combs has been placed on suicide watch while being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center as first reported by PEOPLE … Wow.

This is a precautionary measure due to concerns about his mental state.

When you think about it, defendants facing this magnitude of charges are sometimes placed under suicide watch. Like, take Jeffrey Epstein, perhaps.

Anyway, Diddy, 54, is awaiting trial after being arrested on September 16 in Manhattan.

The charges against him are serious … They include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, all following Homeland Security raids on his Beverly Hills and Miami homes earlier in March.

ICYMI, a federal judge denied Diddy’s request for bail for the second time, despite his legal team’s offer of a $50 million bond. 50m’s.

Get this, attorney, Marc Agnifilo, confirmed that Diddy is currently being held in the facility’s special housing unit, which provides additional security, while awaiting the Bureau of Prisons’ decision on whether he will be transferred to a different facility. Agnifilo had requested a transfer to a New Jersey prison, but the final decision rests with the Bureau of Prisons.

The MDC, which serves as New York City’s main federal detention center since the closure of the Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center in 2021, has been notorious for harsh conditions, including frequent lockdowns, violence, and a string of suicides.

In a recent motion for bail, Diddy’s legal team highlighted the dangerous conditions in the MDC, noting that four inmates had committed suicide there in the past three years. We mentioned one of them above.

Shakira Walks Off Miami Stage After Confronting Fan’s Inappropriate Filming”

Shakira left the stage at a Miami club after catching a fan attempting to film up her skirt while she danced to her new song, “Soltera.” 

The superstar was at LIV Miami to preview the single and appeared to be shooting a video with Winnie Harlow, Anitta, Lele Pons, and Danna. A fan video posted to Twitter showed her interacting with the other female artists before taking the stage. While performing her signature hip-gyrating moves, she noticed an unknown fan filming under her brown lace dress, pulled it down, and signaled for him to stop. 

Shakira then gestured to the crowd, wagging her fingers to show that she saw the inappropriate behavior, and tried to continue dancing. However, when the person persisted, she called for the music to stop and left the stage, visibly upset. She was escorted off by the same group of women that helped her on stage. 

Fans and the general public were quick to decry the videographer’s behavior as “creepy” and “inappropriate,” amongst other things.

Shakira, however, appears to have chosen to focus on the positive aspects of the evening, sharing fun backstage videos to her Instagram account from the night in question.

No release date for “Soltera” has been announced, marking her first new music since her March 2024 album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.

However, the North American leg of Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour kicks off on November 20 in Palm Desert, CA and ends in Detroit on December 15.

You can say what you want about Sexyy Red, but you cannot deny that she’s always looking to show love. If you remember, Kodak Black was going through it not too long ago. He shared a pretty disheartening and concerning message on his Instagram Story, saying, “Now I understand nobody give af about me if I ain’t paying💔 Lonely af out here bro😣”. After seeing that, the St. Louis, Missouri rapper wanted to help out and sent a heartwarming reply to her Florida contemporary. “I seen your post. Motherf***ers don’t love you if ain’t got no money for them. I said I feel you Yak. It’s okay. We fixing to go on tour“.

She continued, “You going to thug with me okay? We both got some money. We gone thug… and have fun. F*** them broke a** h**s. Imma turn you up”. Well, ever since she’s recruited him to join her for her Sexyy Red 4 President trek, they have been doing just that. During her second stop in Texas, Red was throwing it back on Black which seemed to boost his spirits.

More of the same happened, perhaps even more intensely than last time over the weekend. He joined her once again and as you can see; they were going at it onstage. At point, Kodak even grabs Sexyy by the waist, upping the ante even more so. However, that wasn’t the only fun she had over these last few concerts. Lil Durk also made an appearance, but what appears to be in a different location. She brought him out for her return back to her hometown, and the “Hellcats SRTs 2” collaborators embraced onstage in front of thousands. Again, say what you want, but the hitmaker is becoming more of a force and ally to a lot of rappers by the second.

Joe Biden Breaks Silence On Donald Trump’s Latest Assassination Attempt With Secret Service Suggestion

Joe Biden says the Secret Service is going to need more help after Donald Trump survived yet another assassination attempt on Sunday afternoon. Biden addressed the incident while speaking with reporters outside of The White House on Monday morning. “One thing I want to make clear is: The Service needs more help. And I think Congress should respond to their need,” Biden said. He added that the organization, in the end, would “decide whether they need more personnel or not.”

It’s the second time Biden has commented on the situation, having released a statement on Sunday as well. At that time, he wrote: “I am relieved that the former President is unharmed. There is an active investigation into this incident as law enforcement gathers more details about what happened. As I have said many times, there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country, and I have directed my team to continue to ensure that Secret Service has every resource, capability and protective measure necessary to ensure the former President’s continued safety.”

Trump had been golfing at his course in West Palm Beach, Florida when a shooter allegedly camped in the bushes with an AK-47. The man, Ryan Wesley Routh, is facing one count of possession of a firearm while a former felon and one count of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He doesn’t appear to be facing any further charges as he didn’t fire any of the gunshots on Sunday. The reported gunfire was only from Secret Services members who spotted him.
