John Legend Addresses Issues With Kanye West, Says West was Upset because Legend didn’t Support his Presidential Run

Kanye West John Legend

Politics has a way of dividing even the closest of friends and while it appeared that famous artists John Legend and Kanye West had a traditional Democrat vs. Republican fallout, that was not apparently the case.

In an interview with the New Yorker, Legend clarifies that while he is a vocal supporter of many Democrats, including Joe Biden, his and West’s issues have nothing to do with West’s one-time support of Donald Trump, but rather because Legend didn’t endorse West in his 2020 presidential run.

In the interview, Legend stated the following: “What it got described as was, we stopped being friends because he supported Trump, which was a mischaracterization of what I said. That was kind of the Rupert Murdoch version of the story—it was all over the New York Post and Fox News. What I was saying was that he was very upset with me that I didn’t support him running for President, and that was the real impetus for us having a strain in our friendship. I don’t know what will happen in the future, but he was very upset with me that I didn’t support him and I supported Joe Biden. It’s up to him whether he can get past that.” [According to the New Yorker, West could not be reached for comment.]

In 2018, Ye posted screenshots of a tweet in which Legend asked him to “reconsider aligning [himself] with Trump,” to which West followed up with a series of bizarre tweets in which he seemed to emphasize independent thought while still maintaining his support for then-president Trump.

However, when West made his own run for president, Legend did not support him and rather supported Biden.

Legend was not the only hip-hop artist to draw West’s ire. On a 2020 episode of “Drink Champs,” West called both Legend and Big Sean sellouts for not supporting him, stating, ““I know this man mama, bro. … I changed this man’s family. Both John Legend and Big Sean, when I ran for office, got used quick by the Democrats to come at they boy that actually changed they life. And that’s some sellout sh-t. And I don’t rock with neither of them and I need my apologies. I ain’t saying they gon’ change, but n-ggas is scared.”

West received about 60,000 votes out of an estimated total of 160 million in the 2020.

Joe Budden Claims That 2Pac Would “End” Biggie And Nas In A Verzuz Battle

Joe Budden Joins Patreon As Head of Creator Equity

Even over 2 decades since their untimely deaths, Biggie and Tupac still remain a point of conversation in the hip hop community. Many ask what would hip hop be like if Pac and Big were still alive, and the two are often compared to each other, with some who believe that Pac was a better rapper than Big, and others believing that Big was a better rapper than Pac.

However, in todays hip-hop world, all these questions are put to rest by way of a Verzuz battle. And while it hasn’t been done yet, and probably wont be done, a question on every hip-hop lover’s head is who would win in a Verzuz battle? Pac or Big?

Well, Joe Budden thinks the answer to that is 2Pac, and to him not only would he beat Biggie, but he would also beat Nas in a Verzuz as well. And its not even close.

“I don’t want to answer; they gonna say I’m hating on Nas” Budden said when asked by his co-hosts who he thinks would win between Pac and Nas in a Verzuz.

“Alright, now that y’all have progressed the conversation, I’ma say this and I’ma put my shoes on while I say it,” he said. “‘Cause y’all are right: I think ‘Pac would end Nas in a Verzuz. [‘Pac] would end Big in a Verzuz, bad.”

Budden then said that Pac’s four album run from 1993 to 1996 where he dropped Strictly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z, Me Against The World, All Eyez On Me, and Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, alone would beat both Nas and Biggie’s discographies.

udden added that he thinks Pac would beat Biggie in a Verzuz because Biggie only has 2 albums and died too soon. “Big died too soon to play with ‘Pac,” he continued. “Ready to Die and Life After Death is not enough to [beat ‘Pac]. And ‘Pac got them same four albums I’m talking about? I just don’t know. I won’t disrespect Big like that — rest in peace to ‘Pac and Big – but the more I think about it…”

They then threw Jay-Z in the conversation and said that even though Jay would win because he has outlived Pac and has more features, it still wouldn’t be a walk in the park for him either.

Fat Joe Stirs Debate, Claiming Blacks and Latinos Equally Responsible for Evolution of Hip-Hop

Fat Joe

Fat Joe has been a prominent fixture in the hip-hop community for over two decades now, but recently he stirred up debate online when he claimed that hip-hop was created “half and half” by blacks and Latinos.

On Friday, he took to Instagram with a 45-second clip meant to celebrate the contributions of Latino artists, DJs, and groups who contributed to the hip-hop genre over the years including the Mean Machine, DJ Junebug, DJ Disco Wiz, and more. He captioned the clip “Thank you for your contribution to HIP HOP.”

The post, which appeared to be positive in nature and celebrated the contributions of the artists, was largely met with praise and positive feedback. However, some criticized Fat Joe in the comments.

On Saturday, Fat Joe went live on Instagram live to promote DJ Khaled‘s upcoming album, God Did. About 50 minutes into the session, Fat Joe addresses some of the backlash that he appeared to be receiving in the comments section.

The Bronx native noted that people had been questioning Latinos’ place in rap and the hip-hop culture.

He said that he recently had gone on Twitter where people had been talking about how “Latinos wasn’t in rap….this and that….these guys are f***ing delusional.”

He continued: “We from the Bronx, New York, sh** happens, it’s where hip-hop started. It’s Latino and black, half and half. But they’re going at me because I’m the only Spanish dude like really with a big voice.”

He imitated someone typing on a keyboard, saying “Latinos wasn’t there, you wasn’t invited, you are a specimen, I don’t know what is up with these people? They don’t know their facts.”

Twitter and Instagram users appeared to be divided, with some saying that the Latino culture did indeed have a presence in hip-hop while others called Fat Joe and DJ Khaled “culture vultures.”

Ne-Yo’s Soon-To-Be Ex Wife Speaks Out, Says no Chance of Reconciliation

Ne Yo

Ne-Yo’s marriage appears to be close to officially over. After accusing the “So Sick” singer of cheating last month and filing for divorce, his soon-to-be ex wife, Crystal Renay, briefly addressed the situation, saying that the two will not be getting back together.

Video footage shows a TMZ reporter approaching Renay as she exits LAX and asking her “what are the chances that you and Ne-Yo can work it out?”

She quickly responds, “there are no chances. God is good.”

The reporter continues to press, asking her if she is sure and she responds that “we’re moving on to better lives” and adding that “certain things can’t be forgiven, but God will forgive and so will I.”

When asked if she was going to start dating again, Renay shrugs and says “only God knows.”

Renay filed for divorce after claiming that Ne-Yo fathered a child with another woman. Paperwork filed in Atlanta cites that the couple’s marriage is “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.” Renay and Ne-Yo have three children of their own: Isabella Rose, 14-months, Roman-Alexander Raj, 4 years, and Shaffer Chimere Jr., 6 years.

While some might find the reporter’s questions odd, it would not be the first time the couple has filed for divorce only to reconcile later. After getting married in 2016, Renay filed for divorce in 2020, but withdrew the filing. They then had a “second wedding” celebration in 2022.

So far there has been no word on the mystery woman or baby that Ne-Yo allegedly fathered.

jay z meek mill

In July, Meek Mill announced that he had left Roc Nation to pursue a career as an independent artist. Meek claimed that Roc Nation, who he had signed to a management deal with in 2012, did nothing to help promote his latest album Expensive Pain, which debuted at no. 3 on the Billboard 200. He added that Roc Nation would not let him release any more music for another 9 months until his contract was up and blamed the label for ruining his relationship with Roddy Ricch.

While Jay-Z has remained silent on Meek’s departure, he recently addressed the situation in his verse of “God Did” off of DJ Khaled’s latest album of the same name. According to Jay, everything is still cool between him and the Philadelphia MC.

“Me and Meek could never beef, I freed that n***a from a whole bid, Hov did/ Next time we have a discussion who the G.O.A.T., you donkeys know this,” Jay rapped.
