Kodak Black Has His “Trill Bill” Fan-Favorite With “News Matt”

Kodak Black’s new mixtape Trill Bill hit streaming platforms over the weekend, and frankly, it’s been a nice surprise. For us, the hitmaker can be hit or miss sometimes, with not all of his records being the most consistent. However, in keeping this project to just 11 tracks, there was very little margin for error. After listening to it a few times over the last couple of days, we can say that Kodak took his time with this one.

Tracks like the opener, “Cherish The Moment,” the risk that is “Dirty Revolver,” and “Burn It Up,” are ones that we have taken a liking to. Now, we are adding the second cut “News Matt” to that growing list. It hears Kodak addressing his haters and people that have turned their backs on him. It’s empowering, real, and relatable, which is why it’s become the fan favorite so far. At the time of writing, the music video for “News Matt” has over 506,000 views on YouTube. That equates to it being number 18 on trending for music on the platform. See what all the hype is about with the link below.

“News Matt” – Kodak Black

Quotable Lyrics:

Hey, homie insecure, gotta treat me like a jit to feel like a man
Damn, I’m f***ed up in the head
I was chasing after friends, I damn near ran through all the bread
I forgave you a little bit, but I can’t forget all the s*** you said
It made me think, “What else you gotta say that you ain’t sayin’?”
Like anything I ask you, acting deaf like you want me to beg

Kodak Black Challenges Himself On “Trill Bill Standout “Dirty Revolver”

A special shout out goes to AnotherWav, one of the producers on Kodak Black’s new mixtape, Trill Bill. The beat he gives the Pompano Beach, Florida rapper is quite unique. That’s thanks to the piano melodies, sometimes static qualities, and woozy sound effects. But to be honest, Kodak Black makes it seem like light work, as he manages to find a pocket just seconds into the two-minute track. On top of his flows, there are some straight up comedic and sticky sets of lines. You can tell he was having putting this one together and just letting the instrumental take him wherever he felt was right.

The womb, I’m a motherf***in’ goon / Hey, pop that boy balloon, pew and zoom / Fredo in the dune, you beef with me, your doom / Flippa finna be zoom, he comin’ home in June / Thuggin’ every June, ain’t no lovey-dovey do.” These are just a few of the memorable portions, with one another being below, too. However, this is just one of many surprising and fun moments on Kodak’s new record. The first leg of the 11-song tape is especially strong with tracks like the opener, “Cherish The Moment,” the subsequent “News Matt,” among others. If you haven’t been a fan of his lately, or just in general, we think you should still give Trill Bill a try.

“Dirty Revolver” – Kodak Black

Quotable Lyrics:

And if health really wealth, motherf***er, I’m healthy
N****, Dr. Sebi, Sebi
Yeah, little mix b**** with the hazel eyes
I’m like, “Can I get your number?” Her friends said, “Can he?”
She said, “You Haitian and a Gemini, boy
I already know you trouble, but LOL, text me”

Kodak Black Encourages His Foes To “Cherish The Moment”

Kodak Black is sending a fair warning on one of his new songs, “Cherish The Moment.” “Boy, if I want your soul, better give it / ‘Fore your family keep ending up missin’.” This is just one of them, as he sounds menacing with his deliberate flows over a piano-backed trap beat. Bars like the one we just mentioned feed into his theme of being committed to the streets and taking names. “Now that I got me a switch
Ain’t finna leave the hood ’cause I got rich / I told ’em, “Bury me right in the ditch” / I’m just gone keep investin’ in this s
***.”

Speaking of these lines in particular, Kodak experiments with a unique cadence that’s hard to explain in crystal clear terms. How we would describe it is that he sounds confused and is asking, “what did I do?” It’s just another reason why Kodak is still so unique years deep into his career. He really will try anything, even if every risk doesn’t fully pan out. But this one does, and it gives “Cherish The Moment” even more replay ability and some character. This is one of 10 new songs in the Project Baby’s discography, and they all come on his third overall project, Trill Bill. Check it out with the link below.
