Overall, Swift showed up to two games in as many weeks. This subsequently led to a whole lot of television coverage. Although some fans feel like it has been too much, the Swifties have been galvanized by all of this. In fact, Travis has gained a whole bunch of fans, which is probably very cool for him.

Many of those fans tuned in yesterday afternoon as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Minnesota Vikings. The Chiefs won this game by a score of 27-20. Moreover, Kelce ended up scoring a touchdown in the game. Unfortunately, before that touchdown, he suffered a non-contact injury. Many were worried that this foot injury could have spelled the end of his day. Additionally, some were worried that it could have been much worse. After all, Kelce already missed the first game of the season due to an injury.

As soon as Kelce went down with an injury, Swifties took to Twitter where they admonished the NFL for their use of turf fields. Overall, it was actually quite humorous to see people who otherwise don’t care about football, advocate for something that has been long overdue in the NFL. After she attended the Chiefs’ win over the Chicago Bears, Kelce spoke about it on his podcast, New Heights. “Shout out to Taylor for pullin’ up; that was pretty ballsy, that was pretty ballsy, yeah. I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her, you know?” Kelce said. “The friends, the family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light, and on top of that, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans, of course. We script it all, ladies and gentlemen. It was just impressive. It was impressive. However, in his response, he did remind Rodgers who signed the anti-vax QB’s paychecks. “I thought it was pretty good. I mean, with the stache, I look like a guy named Mr. Pfizer. Who knew I’d get into the vax wars with Aaron Rodgers, man, Mr. Pfizer vs. the Johnson and Johnson family,” Kelce said. The last comment was a reference to the Jets, Rodgers’ team, being owned by the heir to multinational conglomerate, Johnson & Johnson. Of the many products J&J produces, pharmaceuticals and a one-shot COVID vaccine are some of them.

Rodgers dubbed Kelce “Mr Pfizer” due to Kelce appearing in a series of ads encouraging people to get the new COVID vaccine. “Mr. Pfizer, we kinda shut him down a little bit. He didn’t have a crazy impact game. Obviously he had some yards and stuff,” Rodgers told McAfee this week. Kelce had a team-leading 60 yards on six catches against the Jets last week. The Chiefs scored an ugly 23-20 road win.

The biggest story through the first month of the NFL season has had nothing to do with the game. Instead, the relationship between Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has garnered a whole lot of attention, whether that’s been via television ratings, things the league has done in acknowledgement of the pair, or whatever else.

Kelce admitted on the most recent episode of his podcast that he thinks things have been a little over the top recently, saying that “I think they’re overdoing it a little bit for sure. Especially my situation.” While he was a little empathetic to the way the league has leaned in by saying that he thinks it’s generally in good fun, it’s not hard to see why Kelce might feel this way, especially considering the league updated its social media channels to highlight Swift.

In a statement on Wednesday, the NFL responded, essentially saying that acknowledging this sort of crossover between the league and someone from the world of pop culture is (pun absolutely not intended) nothing new. Via Deadline:
