Latto Claims She Has No Interest In A Rap Battle With Ice Spice, And Her Reasoning Might Be A Bit Of Shade

Uproxx cover star Latto has put everything on the floor when it comes to her foe Ice Spice. Anytime a subliminal was sent her way, the “Big Mama” rapper has stayed true to her motto, “Get in the booth, b*tch.”

However, when asked by Billboard if she would take on Ice Spice in a rap battle, Latto politely declined. This is quite ironic coming from the forthcoming season two judge on Netflix’s rap competition show, Rhythm + Flow. But in today’s (July 19) interview, Latto explained why.

“If I was to do [a battle], it would have to be with somebody I feel like I’mma go tit-for-tat with,” she said. “I really don’t mean it as shade. Would she even want to do that?”

Although Latto says she didn’t intend for the response to be shade, it can certainly be perceived that way. Latto doesn’t have any interest in a full on battle, but she isn’t above responding with a track.

At the top of the year, Ice Spice dropped “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” a direct jab at Latto. Following the bathroom-centered bars, Latto responded with “Sunday Service.” In the official video, Latto reportedly even visited Ice Spice’s childhood neighborhood to film parts of the visual.

Ice Spice Was All About Butts And Farts During Her 2024 BET Awards Performance Medley

Ice Spice has undoubtedly been one of hip-hop’s biggest rising stars of the past couple years. The whole time, along with her undeniable bars, she has made use of her sex appeal. A combination of both factors fueled her 2024 BET Awards performance.

The performance opened up with “Phat Butt” and Ice made the moment all about the song’s namesake on a gas station set. She then kept things in backside territory by moving onto “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” to wrap up her two-song medley.

Ice is about a month away from the release of her upcoming album, Y2K, the cover art of which saw a bit of criticism. Starting in a few days, she’ll also be heading out on tour in support of the album, alongside Cash Cobain. This is all going down as she gears up to star alongside Denzel Washington in an upcoming movie.

Ice Spice has three nominations at this year’s awards. Her and Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie World” is up for Best Collaboration, Ice herself is up for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and “Barbie World” is also up for Video Of The Year.

Ice Spice’s ‘Think U The Sh*t (Fart)’ Is Indeed A Latto Diss, According To The Rapper And She Went On To Explain Why

Ice Spice is booked and busy.

Next week, the “In Ha Mood” rapper will grace our television screen during the Super Bowl, thanks to her cameo in Starry’s new commercial. But this week is all about the 2024 Grammys. From industry dinners to performance showcases leading up to the official ceremony, Ice Spice has her plate full. Still, she found time to clear up a few rumors circulating online.

During a Twitter Space with supporters, Ice Spice confirmed that her latest single, “Think U The Sh*t (Fart),” supposedly of her forthcoming debut album, Y2K, is indeed a diss directed at her foe and Uproxx cover star Latto. “The thing for me is, why am I seeing that I’m in the back [on the television screen] of your weak ass snippet,” she said. “So, I was like, ‘Wait, is that me?’ So, I’m like, ‘Since we’re talking about me, let’s talk about me. And I dropped [‘Think U The Sh*t (Fart)’].”

The video in question was of Latto teasing an unreleased track. As she raps: “Every time y’all put me with them hoes, it’s gon’ be big drama / Twenty black Suburbans, we pull up like Sunday Service / I just want a one on one, don’t know why she so nervous,” Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice’s visual for “Barbie World” plays in the background.

The two rappers’ ongoing feud has fanbases online digging for subliminal digs at one another. The musicians haven’t held back from taking jabs at each on wax. Folks believe Latto’s recent verse on “Fine As Can Be” was her latest dig at Ice Spice.

Ice Spice Twerks All Over Miami In Her Laid-Back ‘Think U The Sh*t (Fart)’ Video

Ice Spice may be a New Yorker, born and raised, but that didn’t stop her from shooting her raucous “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” video on Miami’s iconic Ocean Drive. From cruising the bay in a speedboat to turning up on the beach, Ice Spice and her crew show off their assets and twerk up a tornado in the video, which very much resembles her clips for “In Ha Mood” and “Deli.”

Something tells me the bigger budget, higher concept videos are still in the works as Ice Spice prepares to release her debut album sometime this year. For now, it just looks like she’s having the time of her life and still enjoying her meteoric rise the way any 24-year-old would.

Even before Ice released the video, “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” was already generating buzz among fans, as many interpreted the song as a bit of a diss record directed at Latto. In an apparent callback to Latto’s 2023 hit “Put It On Da Floor,” Spice raps, ““I got my foot on they necks, I can’t let up / She all on the floor, told her get up / She my son, but I ain’t her mammy / Bitches can’t stand me.”

Whether or not that means her rumored beef with Latto is really happening, it certainly looks like the anticipation for Ice Spice’s inevitable album release is going to be sky high.

Ice Spice Blows Past Her Competition On Her New Single ‘Think U The Sh*t (Fart)’

Ice Spice is back. Tonight (January 26), the New York rapper has shared her new single, interestingly titled “Think U The Sh*t (Fart).”

Stepping back into her rap on a rhythmic beat produced by her loyal collaborator RiotUSA, Ice pushes her competition to the side, as she comes to reclaim the top spot.

“Think you the sh*t, b*tch? / You not even the fart / I be goin’ hard / I’m breakin’ they hearts / B*tches be quick, but I’m quicker / B*tches be thick, but I’m thicker / She could be rich, but I’m richer,” Ice raps on the song’s chorus

This week marks a year since Ice released her debut EP, Like…?, which spawned hits like “Princess Diana,” “Gangsta Boo,” and more. Given the catchy songs in her repertoire, fans are looking forward to a full-length project from Ice.

In an interview with Billboard, RiotUSA teased that Ice’s debut album will be filled with songs that will stand the test of time.

“Fans should know I produce and record too, so look out for my music,” he said. “Also look out for new classics with Ice in 2024. We’re working on her debut album as we speak.”
