Taye Diggs and Apryl Jones have been making waves with their lovey-dovey relationship since they first became an official item. As public figures, they have both gone through their share of lost love. Jones was formerly dating Omarion until their relationship crashed in 2016. Moreover, Taye Diggs was married to Idina Menzel for ten years before they divorced in 2013. 

Moving on from their respective partners has led them to one another, and fans couldn’t help but cheer from the sidelines. However, the status of their relationship today is largely unknown. Not only do they not post each other on their respective pages anymore, but they have yet to be seen in public together in a while. However, they may just be keeping their relationship private in the meantime, and it remains unclear where they stand. Dec. 2021: First Encounters

Taye Diggs spoke to Distractify about coming across Jones’ social media account in December 2021. “I literally saw one of her Instagrams or TikToks, and I just texted, or whatever it’s called, and said that she was hilarious,” he said. “She helped me get a million followers. I love that stuff like that just kind of comes organically.” Not too long after opening a TikTok account, Diggs featured Jones on his account. This ignited both the fire, as well as the rumor mill about their relationship. Additionally, Jones shared her own side of the shot-shooting on the Unconsciously Coupled podcast. “I looked at my DM, and I was like, Taye Diggs? What the…? In my mind I was like, I could never get him,” she said. 

Feb. 2022: Hard Launch & Public Appearances

At the premiere of Taye Diggs’ movie, Incarnation, in February 2022, the couple made their official red carpet debut. Apryl Jones took to Instagram to show some love to her beau while stamping the status of their relationship. In her post, she shared,  “I LAUGH MY ASS OFF WITH YOU! YOU’RE SO F’ING DOPE!!!!!” Diggs subsequently replied, quipping: “Who? Me? I’m the lucky one.”

The following month, in March, they both attended Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar Party. From then on, it was clear to see that their relationship was positively blossoming. They eventually spent 2022 growing together and making public appearances at events. Moreover, their social media wasn’t left out, as they loved on each other quite loudly. Both their pages were filled with pictures encapsulating all the memories they made. For example, in June, Jones posted an Instagram picture showing her kissing Diggs. Additionally, in September, they were seen vacationing in Bora Bora. By November, they were all smiles, looking gorgeous while attending a Stevie Nicks concert.

Jan. 2023: Family Bonding

At the start of the year, the actor posted a video where he was cuddling up to Jones’ daughter. Diggs has a son, Walker, with his ex-wife Idina Menzel, and Jones has two kids from her former relationship with Omarion—a daughter, A’mei, and a son, Megaa. Both ex-couples have maintained very cordial relationships with each other. Furthermore, both Diggs and Jones have shown major love to each other’s kids.

Omarion finally spoke to Sway in the Morning about Jones moving on with Diggs. “I just met him for the first time and he seems like a cool dude,” he said. “He has kids of his own and he’s an older man so I only expect good things from him. It’s a beautiful thing when somebody finds a good thing.” Additionally, regarding his kids and co-parenting, he said: “I will say we have been moving towards a better relationship at this particular point in time, for the kids. It’s all good, it was just something we went through. 

June 2023: Rumors Of A Break-Up 

As of now, however, it is unclear if the star couple are still together. They have both unfollowed each other on Instagram, and Apryl Jones no longer features in videos on Taye Diggs’ Instagram. Furthermore, fans have been leaving speculated comments asking about her whereabouts, as well as the status of their relationship. By August, Omarion, Apryl, and their two kids went on a family trip to Disneyland. This fueled the rumors of Jones and Diggs’ breakup. However, since no party involved has made any statements, fans will be left to simply speculate.

Taye Diggs’ Ex Idina Menzel Believes The Black Community’s “Disappointment” Led To Their Split

During a recent interview, Broadway star Idina Menzel opened up about her divorce from Taye Diggs. According to her, the fact that they were an interracial couple made their relationship complex, and eventually led to their split. “It’s very complicated,” she said of their breakup.

“Very supportive of each other always, so excited for him,” she continued. “The thing that came into play more I would say, and he’s talked about it too, is the interracial aspect of it.” While Menzel thought interracial relationships were normalized in their industry, she felt as though the outside world wasn’t as accepting.

“When you’re in the theater it’s not a thing,” she explains. “We all love each other, and sleep with each other… but when you leave that cocoon, that bubble…now… he’s on the cover of Essence and Ebony and being interviewed by all these Black journalists and I think he had his own stuff to deal with with that.” She says that grappling with outside criticism weighed heavily on both of them, and ultimately became too much to bear. “It seemed like there was disappointment in the community with him because he was married to [a] white, Jewish girl from some show we don’t even remember, and so, I took that on too,” she describes. “That’s stuff that we had to deal with. It was less about being successful and more about that kind of stuff.”

Menzel and Diggs were married for just under 11 years before their 2014 breakup. They had one child together, Walker Nathaniel Diggs, in 2009. The pair now peacefully co-parent the teen. “He comes first and you have to get past your own egos and you never talk bad about each other,” Menzel told PEOPLE of their son. Omarion Talks Meeting Apryl Jones’s BF Taye Diggs

All is well between Omarion and Apryl Jones these days, a far cry from just a few years ago. The world watched with wide eyes as the former couple was at odds on both reality television and social media. Omarion and Apryl once touted their relationship on Love & Hip Hop, and later, they welcomed two children together. However, soon, things turned sour, and they decided to go their separate ways. It was reported that co-parenting became a struggle for the ex-lovers and that animosity boiled over when Jones began dating Fizz, Omarion’s B2K groupmate.

The new romance would also reach Love & Hip Hop, and the controversy sent the internet into a firestorm. Jones and Fizz defended themselves against critics, and Omarion emerged “unbothered.” It didn’t take long for Jones to find herself once again single, but now, she’s linked with Taye Diggs. It was a surprise coupling for the public, but the pair’s silly videos and adorable posts have won over hearts. In a recent interview, Omarion revealed he met Diggs and detailed the introduction.

Omarion Finally Meets Taye Diggs

Omarion admitted that he hadn’t met Diggs before the acclaimed actor dated Jones. “I just met him for the first time,” the hitmaker told Sway Calloway. “He seems like a cool dude, know what I mean? And he has kids of his own. So, you know—and he’s an older man, so I only expect good things from him.” Omarion further shared that the meeting took place at his son’s class project event. “He came through, and it was cool. ‘Nice to meet you,’ all good.” Diggs was said to have told O that his “kids are wonderful.”

In August of last year, Diggs fawned over Apryl, bragging about his love for her. “I feel really lucky to have the career I have, coming from nothing and then getting to be where I am,” he said. “And then, the fact that this woman is in love with me. Apryl Jones & Taye Diggs Working On Movie Together, Deny Breakup Rumors

Apryl Jones and Taye Diggs disproved rumors of a breakup with the announcement that they’re working on a film together. The “Love & Hip-Hop” star recently took to her Instagram story to update her followers. Moreover, it showed Diggs packing up a bag as the couple had a casual conversation for the Gram.

Furthermore, Jones captioned her post by tagging her boo and adding “First movie together… we’re excited!!!! Rom Com!!!!” With all the drama, accusations, and wild claims going around about her previous relationship with Omarion, the genre seems about right.

Still, many in the comments seem pretty excited for the couple. While they didn’t provide much detail as to the project, their on-screen experience speaks for itself. Diggs is known for his appearances in Rent, Private Practice, and Lip Sync Battle, among many others. In addition to Love & Hip-Hop, she’s also featured in Black Ink Crew: Chicago.

However, this news comes soon after breakup rumors began to surface around the two. Moreover, they unfollowed each other on Instagram, which led many to believe things had gone sour. Fortunately, it seems things worked out, and Diggs’ Instagrammed profession of love last year still rings true.

“There are um, you know, as an adult, there are times in life where you can’t believe what you are blessed with,” he said in an IG video. “I feel really lucky to have the career I have, coming from nothing and then getting to be where I am. And then, the fact that this woman is in love with me. Like, I don’t [understand], I can’t, there—that’s how I know, praise you Lord Jesus or Buddha or Universe, ’cause somehow she’s next to me.”

“She’s with me. Oh, my lord,” he continued. “So, for all you people out there who don’t think there’s God or no higher being or no higher force, y’all I know there is ’cause someone’s lookin’ out after me, boy!”
