SZA Releases ‘Random Thoughts’ In The Form Of Three New Songs: ‘I Hate You,’ ‘Joni,’ And ‘Nightbird’
SZA’s musical releases have been far and few since she graced the world with her classic debut album, Ctrl. At one point the singer went two years without a single, a streak that ended with the release of “Hit Different.” She quickly followed up that single with “Good Days,” a track that grew to be her most successful track as it entered the top-10 of the singles chart. Since both efforts, things have quieted done a bit for the singer, outside of her “Kiss Me More” collaboration with Doja Cat, but it looks like things could change soon.
Early Sunday morning, SZA took to Twitter to share three new songs with fans, titled “I Hate You,” “Joni,” and “Nightbird.” The songs were shared to a Soundcloud account the singer created, one separate from the official one she has. In a tweet, she defined the release of the records as “dumping random thoughts” and promised to share more “word vomit” in the future. Additionally, a fan asked her if she can “start Sza Sunday’s and drop random thoughts once a week,” to which the singer replied “Yes .”

Another fan thanked her for the new records but also requested another song fans have patiently waited for. “We love you but we also love Shirt,” they wrote, speaking about her presumed next single, “Shirt.” The singer gave a comforting response and simply wrote, “She nex.”

Summer Walker Confirms SZA, Lil Durk, And Ari Lennox Will Appear On Her Next Album
At the end of 2019, Summer Walker released her debut album, Over It, which broke the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album by a female artist. It also gave the singer her highest-charting release, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Now Walker is wrapping up work on her sophomore album, and though a title or release date have not yet been shared, she recently revealed some of the artists that will appear on it.

In a post to her Instagram Story, Walker revealed that SZA, Lil Durk, and Ari Lennox are among the acts that are involved. “Riding around listening to this album, can’t choose which is my favorite song… it’s between durk sza and ari ft,” the singer wrote in the post before adding, “they all so good.”
It would be the first time that Walker has collaborated with any of the aforementioned artists. But if her past work proves anything, it’s that she can create excellent chemistry with various artists. Over It featured excellent collaborations with Bryson Tiller, Usher, Jhene Aiko, 6lack, PartyNextDoor, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Drake.

Isaiah Rashad Keeps ‘Score’ With SZA And 6lack On A Mellow, Drowned-Out Collaboration
In less than two months, fans will gear up to celebrate the five-year anniversary of Isaiah Rashad’s stellar debut album, The Sun’s Tirade. It’s an effort that was highly celebrated upon its release, and one that oftentimes receives a high ranking in discussions about hip-hop projects from the last half-decade. With that being said, some believed the anniversary would come without a new album from him as prior to today, Rashad had yet to drop a full-length follow-up to The Sun’s Tirade. Thankfully, that has changes tonight with the release of The House Is Burning.
The 16-track effort finally arrives for fans and one of its highlights is “Score” with SZA and 6lack. The well-constructed collaboration is led by mellow and drowned-out vocals from Rashad who opts for a bit of singing as opposed to rapping his way through the beat. SZA steps in for a rather small contribution to the song while 6lack delivers a strong verse of his own.
On the rest of The House Is Burning, listeners will hear guest appearances from Lil Uzi Vert, Jay Rock, Duke Deuce, Smino, Amindi, Jay Worthy, Doechii, Kal Banx, and YGTUT. The project is led by a group of singles that include, “Lay Wit Ya,” “Headshots (4r Da Locals),” and “From The Garden.”

SZA Is Getting Into The NFT Game Through A Collaboration With American Express
Top Dawg’s first lady is joining the NFT game. While fans have been dying to hear SZA’s second full-length album, barely satiated by the release of her first single, “Good Days,” or her long-awaited collaboration with Doja Cat, “Kiss Me More,” she’s giving them a piece of her career instead. In what might be the first of many potential collaborations for an NFT, SZA is releasing her first NFT drop today.
Today, American Express announced their collaboration with her on “Amex Unstaged x SZA: The Collection.” The drop gives Amex card members the chance to purchase the NFT, which features photos from her recent performance for the brand. According to a press release, the “limited, one-of-a-kind collection” will be available on Fanaply, an NFT developer used in music, sports and entertainment. The NFT includes “never-before-seen photos” from SZA’s performance. Today’s initial drop is only open to the Amex card members who attended the show, while the next iteration, coming this Monday, will be open to the public. Each asset will be available for purchase — with an American Express card — at a price of $100 right here.

Watch SZA Perform A Brand-New Song, ‘Shirt,’ At Grey Goose’s ‘In Bloom’ Concert
In a pre-recorded collaborative concert with Grey Goose titled In Bloom, SZA unveiled part of a brand-new song, “Shirt,” live. Fans and social media users might already be familiar with the silky track, as it made the rounds on TikTok earlier this year when the R&B sensation shared a snippet of “Shirt” to her Instagram story. Likewise, SZA’s “Good Days” video included a tease of the new track near the clip’s end.
In a statement prior to the event, SZA said:
“I feel like In Bloom really captures where I’m at right now, especially after a year and a half of lockdown, which is also why it feels like the best place to debut some of my new material. I’m so excited for my fans to see this performance.”
At the event, which took place in Los Angeles, SZA also provided an update regarding the long-anticipated follow-up to 2017’s critically adored Ctrl. “I’m actually probably about to scrap all of it and start from scratch,” she told WWD about the new record. “I think [fans will] be surprised to know that it’s not what they thought, and it’s not coming when they thought,” she said. “I hope that they’ll be pleasantly surprised.” Then she added, “I’m literally not talking about my album anymore until it’s out in the world. At this point, I’m gonna start jinxing it, and I don’t want to jinx anything.”
To hear SZA perform a bit of “Shirt,” head to the 49:05 mark in the video above.
