Producer Wheezy Has ‘Super Slimey 2’ Sign in Studio, Is a Sequel from Young Thug and Future On the Way?

Is Super Slimey 2 on the way? Producer Wheezy was spotted in the studio, and a sign for Super Slimey 2 hung in the background, seemingly the sequel to Future and Young Thug’s first collaborative project.

The first album was released in 2017, and in 2019, Thugger stated the sequel would be on the way, bringing in Lil Baby and Gunna. That full pairing seems unlikely now but more work seems to be on the way.

You can spot the sign below.

Future And Young Thug Fans Believe The Long-Awaited ‘Super Slimey 2’ Could Be Coming Soon Thanks To A Producer’s Post

Ever since Young Thug’s release from Fulton County jail last October after pleading “no contest” to the racketeering charge that kept him locked up for nearly two years, fans have been looking forward to seeing what he does next with his hard-won freedom. They may have gotten a glimpse, courtesy of frequent collaborators Wheezy and ATL Jacob. The former posted a video to his Instagram Story of the latter in the studio with a neon sign reading “Super Slimey 2” behind him.

Longtime Thug fans recognize this as a reference to his 2017 joint album with Future, Super Slimey. A well-received team-up, the project paired the two top voices in the Atlanta trap scene for a project that was commercially successful, if not critically acclaimed. However, it wasn’t long before they began teasing a sequel; Super Slimey 2 would have improved on the formula, according to producer Southside, while adding more manpower in the form of the duo’s young proteges, Gunna and Lil Baby, fresh off their own fan-favorite joint album, Drip Harder.

Of course, if Super Slimey 2 is really in the works, it may not feature all four rappers. While Lil Baby reconnected with Future and Thug on “Dum, Dumb And Dumber” from his new album WHAM (Who Hard As Me), Gunna has been on the outs with his primary partner since accepting an early plea deal that freed him up to continue his career but earned him “snitching” accusations from many in hip-hop — even as Young Thug’s family denied he told prosecutors anything useful to their case against Thug. Future also allegedly sent a few shots Gunna’s way on his own latest project, Mixtape Pluto, although Gunna denied having any sort of beef with the elder rapper. Even Young Thug supposedly said he wasn’t Gunna’s friend, although that could have just been him getting hacked on Twitter or a simple misunderstanding, considering he also asked for a specific exception to his probation terms to maintain contact with him.

Truthfully, it could all just be a result of rap fans reading too much into fairly generic rap boasts, but even if that’s the case, it doesn’t seem we should be looking forward to hearing Gunna on Super Slimey 2, if it really is coming soon.

Young Thug & Future Could Be Dropping A Second “Super Slimey” Tape Very Soon

Even though we are just three days into 2025, exciting things appear to be in the works for Young Thug. Honestly, it makes all the sense in the world. He’s finally done with his turbulent trial, and he also capped off 2024 by reissuing the first two Slime Season mixtapes. The beginning of his musical return got underway today with him featuring alongside Future on Lil Baby’s new album WHAM. He appears on track two, “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber,” but this will not be his only appearance. According to AllHipHop, a deluxe is set to arrive next Tuesday.

Lil Baby and Young Thug talked back and forth via Instagram Stories, with the former confirming that and another collab between them. “Chill bra the deluxe coming Tuesday it’s on thereeeee,” he promised Thugger. That should be something to look forward to, however, there’s apparently bigger fish to fry. Back in 2017, the YSL Records founder and Future created fireworks with their Super Slimey mixtape. Critically, it did okay, but it won the community over. It’s definitely got some memorable tracks such as “Patek Water,” “Killed Before,” “Mink Flow,” and more.

Wheezy Appears To Have Exposed Young Thug & Future’s Plans

Back in 2019, YSL confirmed that a second would be coming with Lil Baby and Gunna also joining the roster. However, it never materialized, and fans were left speculating whether it would ever actually arrive. One of the mixtape’s producers, Southside, revealed to Genius back in 2020 that multiple Super Slimey projects are on deck. “They’ve got four or five of them right now, ready if they wanted to,” he began. “When those two get together, they’ve got artist chemistry. They just know how to record together. They’ve got five Super Slimeys right now. All hits, if they wanted to drop them.”

Well, it seems like this might be the year we get at least the sequel. Southside, as well as Wheezy and ATL Jacob, were all in the studio together, tagging one another on Instagram Stories. A neon green “Super Slimey 2” sign in the background potentially reveals what’s being made. With Thug getting back into the swing of things and a fresh calendar in front of us, it’s the perfect time.
