Steph Curry Allegedly Almost Cried Because Kevin Durant Was Beating Him Out For Finals MVP

Despite spending just one season with the Golden State Warriors, Nick Young managed to win a title and, presumably, see an intense matchup between Steph Curry and Kevin Durant for the MVP award in the 2018 NBA Finals. The Warriors of 2017–18, which featured Durant, Young, and Curry, defeated LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals to win back-to-back championships. According to Young, Durant’s 2017 NBA Finals MVP victory meant that the two future Hall of Famers would have to contend for the trophy in 2018.

Then, even after winning, Young said that Curry’s difficult Game 3 left him “damn near tears” because he felt he had let the MVP title for the Finals slip from his grasp. Curry had won two championships at that point but did receive a Finals MVP. Curry scored 11 points in the Game 3 victory on only 3-of-16 shooting from the field. With 43 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists that evening, Durant lifted Golden State, and it was only a matter of time until he took home the individual award for the second consecutive year.

Steph Curry Allegedly Almost Cried Because Of Losing Finals MVP

“I remember they was neck and neck, KD [Durant] and Steph [Curry], then Steph had one bad game…KD was hitting. Locker room Steph, head was down [and] damn near tears after a win. Man, he wanted to win that [Finals MVP],” Young said. “KD was trying to give it to him, like KD won it a year before…[Durant] was trying to miss. [But] Steph couldn’t make a shot.” In their fourth and final meeting of the season, the Warriors defeated the LeBron James-led Cavaliers 4-0 in the 2018 series. The following year, after suffering an Achilles injury to Durant and an ACL injury to Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and the Warriors were unable to accomplish a three-peat after losing to the Toronto Raptors in six games.

When Curry earned his first ring in 2015, Andre Iguodala was named the NBA Finals MVP; however, the future Hall of Famer didn’t receive his ring until 2022, after Durant had left for another team. The future Hall of Famer averaged 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 43.7 percent from outside the arc and 48.2 percent from the field to help Golden State defeat the Boston Celtics in six games. Curry had a four-to-two edge in rings over Durant and was, without a doubt, the NBA Finals MVP that year. Nevertheless, Young said that missing out on that 2018 award impacted Curry.

For some admirers, Ayesha’s pregnancy may seem to have happened quickly because she didn’t disclose her pregnancy until March when she revealed it in a Sweet July magazine cover story. After their third child was born in 2018, she and Steph decided to try again last year. But she told the tabloid they felt they were done having kids. Caius joins older siblings Riley Elizabeth, 11, Ryan Carson, 8, and Canon W. Jack, 5. Overall, Steh and Ayesha’s family is growing once more. Steph Curry’s Half-Time Heave Goes Viral As Warriors Fall To Kings

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors took on the Sacramento Kings in the NBA’s play-in tournament last night. The Kings ran away with the game, which was close throughout the first half despite struggles from Curry and teammate Klay Thompson. The Warriors will miss the playoffs after a tumultuous season full of injuries and suspensions for the likes of Draymond Green. Curry has carried Golden State all year, but the team overall wasn’t good enough to make the playoffs.

Steph Curry finished the game with 22 points and two assists, a poor showing considering his standard. The story of the night was misses from both Curry and Klay Thompson, who did not hit a shot all night. As the first half was winding down, Curry, known for hitting long-range buzzer beaters, heaved a shot from half-court. The shot was almost perfectly banked at the buzzer, causing an uproar on social media. Even Steph Curry’s misses are incredible, and this shot is proof of that.

Steph Curry Almost Banks A Half Court Buzzer Beater

Steph Curry’s miss was not just a normal heave at the buzzer. Steph was being hounded by the Kings, who were fully aware that Curry hits these types of shots for fun. After crossing up the four defenders surrounding him and creating space, Curry launches his shot and almost banks it in. The first half ended 54 – 50 with the Kings leading the Warriors. Making that shot could have been the park Curry needed to carry the Warriors once again, but it wasn’t to be. Steph finished the first half with only five points, and the second half, while better, wasn’t nearly enough.

Steph Curry’s miss is another reminder of how he is just built differently. You can’t really blame him for the loss either, as his teammate Klay Thompson went 0-10 from the field and 0-6 from three. The Warriors are the Steph Show now more than ever, as his teammates have declined. It is more than possible Steph, Draymond, and Klay shared the floor for the last time last night. Whatever the next iteration of the Warriors looks like, Steph is the only sure thing left of their dynasty.

Born on July 19, 2012, Riley Elizabeth Curry is the first of the three kids Ayesha and Steph Curry share. The 11-year-old is no stranger to fame as she has been in the public eye since she was born. However, in a 2023 interview with Insider, her mother expressed regret for not shielding her from social media. “If we had known back in the day just how chaotic it would make life, I don’t think we would’ve done it,” Ayesha said. Nevertheless, Riley is still seen out with her parents often and is adored by their fans.

Although she isn’t following in her dad’s footsteps playing basketball, Riley is a talented athlete. In 2023, her father told People that her athletic interest lies in volleyball. “She’s found something she loves, and she’s passionate about it, and she loves to work at it,” Steph said. In addition, Riley also shares her mother’s culinary talents and made appearances on Ayesha’s Kitchen (2016–2017). Not much else is known about her personal life and interests, and her parents would probably like it to stay that way.

Shannon Sharpe Clowned Yet Again, This Time For Harmless Steph Curry Interaction

Shannon Sharpe is easily one of the best sports commentators in the game right now. Overall, he made his mark on Undisputed, however, he was eventually able to do big things with First Take. He is currently still on First Take, all while crafting a media empire with Club Shay Shay. At this point, Sharpe remains one of the biggest names and draws in the entire industry. It has been incredible to watch him grow, although it has certainly come with some hate. For instance, numerous comedians recently came after him with gay allegations. Even Antonio Brown has been going off on Sharpe on Twitter, although we believe it might be someone else running the account at this point.

Recently, Shannon Sharpe was at a Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors game. Following the match, Shannon went into the tunnel near the locker rooms, where he met up with Curry. During the encounter, they took a picture and Steph even signed some shoes for Shannon. As you can see below, Shannon was standing around awkwardly throughout the encounter, although it wasn’t anything egregious. Regardless, the internet decided to do its thing anyway.

One person even said that Sharpe looked as though he wanted to get out of there and have Steph sign the shoes as fast as possible. Once again, it was a case of the internet doing a little bit too much. At some point, everyone has to let Shannon live his life.

Steph Curry Expecting Fourth Child

Steph Curry and his wife Ayesha are expecting their fourth child. Ayesha revealed the news during an appearance in Sweet July magazine. Curry said she and Steph thought they were done having kids but had a change of heart last year. Their most recent child was born in 2018. “Last year, we looked at each other and agreed we wanted to do this again,” Ayesha wrote in the article.

Furthermore, Ayesha is hoping for a more laidback pregnancy this time around. “I was really stubborn in my earlier pregnancies,” Ayesha said. “And that hurt me in the end. It made things really hard on me. I had to learn to put my pride aside and realize it was okay to take help, to have people around me help and to not shy away from it. I know I can’t do this alone — it truly takes a village,” Ayesha said.

Sabrina Ionescu Proud Of Performance Against Steph Curry, Hopes To Inspire Future Hoopers

Meanwhile, Steph Curry recently took on Sabrina Ionescu in a three-point shooting challenge. However, Ionescu had nothing but pride about her performance against Curry in their All-Star three-point challenge, despite the loss. “I didn’t back down from the challenge and going up against the best shooter this game has ever seen — and shooting from the NBA line to show all those young kids to not be scared in doing something that has never been done before,” Ionescu told ESPN‘s Malika Andrews. Ionescu put up 26 points, matching the best scores from NBA talent like Damian Lillard. However, some clutch moneyball shooting from Curry sealed a close win for the Warrior legend. Furthermore, as Ionescu alluded to, she did it all from the NBA line, as opposed to the WNBA one.

Many fans hoped that the event would become a staple, potentially allowing for a rematch between Ionescu and Curry. After all, it was Curry who initially issued the challenge. Curry first proposed the idea while discussing Ionescu with his teammate, Brandon Podziemski. “I think I’ve got to challenge her. I think I gotta bring her out, we gotta settle this once and for all,” Curry told his rookie teammate. The veteran three-point star was referring to the fact that Ionescu had sunk 37 threes at last year’s WNBA All-Star Game. That surpassed Curry’s own All-Star Weekend record of 31.
