LeBron’s Agent Rich Paul Responds to Jaylen Brown’s Remarks About Bronny James

Screen Shot 2024 07 17 at 12.10.22 PM

It’s fair to say Jaylen Brown, who has been vocal about his exclusion from the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, is perturbed these days. We get it. He’s the 2024 Finals MVP and not being on that team is kind of crazy. Notwithstanding the Nike factor.

Get this, recently seen making what some consider controversial comments about Bronny James. Perhaps, he was just stating what a lot of people are thinking.

ICYMI during a courtside convo with his girlfriend Ksyre Gondrezick and WNBA star Angel Reese in Vegas, Brown seemingly suggested that the new Lakers rookie might not even become a legitimate NBA player. Yikes. Harsh or spot on? Ya’ll decide.

So now Rich Paul, has entered the chat. The super agent for both LeBron and Bronny James, responded to Brown’s remarks on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.

Paul downplayed it, saying, “I saw some of the stuff that came out about Jaylen Brown. You can’t take everybody’s opinion and try to turn it against them or think he’s a bad person. No, they have opinions. They can say what they want to say. At least he’s someone who’s actually in the league. There are a lot of experts with no expertise. He’s actually an expert with expertise. So if he has an opinion, he can have that opinion. But I know Jaylen and I know he doesn’t mean that with any malice. He was just having a conversation. It’s just the world we live in today. Why would he think somebody would be videoing him saying anything?”

Now Brown addressed the clip. He didn’t backpedal but the Boston super star did express his interest in Bronny’s development as a player, saying he was “looking forward” to seeing how James Jr., progress.

Anyway, right or wrong it seems only time will settle the debate about Bronny and who he eventually will be in the NBA.

KSI Amping Potential Fight with Floyd Mayweather; Wants to ‘kill him’

image

Gotta love these YouTubers. KSI, who has been involved in celebrity boxing for several years, now thinks he can run the fade with Floyd Mayweather. The YouTuber apparently has his crosshairs set on a high-profile match against the undefeated boxing legend.

Mayweather, known for his perfect professional record, has been picking up bags in exhibition fights since his retirement, earning substantial sums in the process.

A potential bout between KSI and Mayweather would undoubtedly garner significant attention. Would ya’ll watch that or nah?

Get this, according to KSI’s trainer, Alexis Demetriades, there is a personal vendetta fueling KSI’s desire to fight Mayweather. This stems from an incident involving KSI’s brother, Deji, during a 2022 exhibition match in Dubai against Mayweather. What was intended to be a light-hearted exhibition turned into a more serious contest, with Mayweather disregarding warnings about his intensity.

Here’s what Demetriades said in an interview with The Sun:

”There’s a personal thing there with Deji. JJ’s upset with Mayweather. There’s a personal thing. They changed the gloves from 14s to 10s on the night, they gave him danger money, they paid him to do it. And one of Mayweather’s camp came up to Deji and said, ‘If it gets a little bit hot and you’re in the clinch just tell Floyd to calm down a little bit because it’s an exhibition and he’ll be with you.’ At one point, Deji was like, ‘S***, it’s getting a little bit hot.’ And Mayweather was like, ‘F*** you. I’m Floyd Mayweather,’ and tried to kill him. That’s JJ’s little brother. So there’s animosity there, there’s an appetite for that fight for JJ, he thinks he’s a p***k. He’s going to try and kill him. There’s animosity there. It’s on sight. Like JJ wants to kill him. That’s a fight he wants. It’s nuts, it’s crazy to say though, isn’t it? You’ve got a YouTuber that wants to fight Floyd Mayweather.”

Now what’s interesting is Demetriades said that during the fight, Mayweather forced Deji to use 10oz gloves instead of the agreed-upon 14oz, adding to the already heated situation.

For the record, Money Mayweather has yet to respond to KSI’s challenge. Let’s see what happens. Our money, no pun intended is a lot of talk just to keep everyone’s brand relevant but what do we know.

Dwayne Wade Responds to Cam’Ron Storming Off ‘It Is What It Is’ Podcast Set After Learning NBA Star Has Nailcare Line

image

Okay so apparently NBA icon Dwyane Wade is launching a nail care line. During a segment on CBS Morning, D-Wade discussed his plans. When the interviewer went in on Wade’s decision to paint his nails, the former Heat star explained, “Expression… I’m creative; I’m expressive. And there are so many ways to do that. I’m actually thinking about jumping into the nail-line… world.”

Wade further added, “I’ve been in it so long. And I’m like, you know what, it could be a good time, but I got some cool ideas, and I’m exploring.”

Wade also shared that polishing his nails is a bonding activity with his daughter.

“One of my favorite things to do when it comes to this is actually sitting down with my daughter and getting my nails painted and painting hers. That’s the time that we get to connect. Me doing something that she loves and also that I love.”

Full stop. Cam’Ron has entered the chat …

‘On the It Is What It Is’ podcast, Killa Cam, was not subtle in his reaction to Wade’s ventures and how he partakes in activities with his daughter. Cam stormed off his own set when the hot topic was brought up by his co-hosts.

But Wade felt the need to keep it light after learning about the rapper turned Podcast host’s reaction. He commented:

“It’s the oh my goodness for me 😂.”

Here’s how fans weighed in.

One said, “Love the connection @dwyanewade has with his daughter and the true confidence he has to not let societal norms block that relationship nor his expression. It ain’t for everybody. Just let ppl live.”

Another made a joke, “Him getting mad then slinging that purse around his shoulder the next moment is priceless.”

Get this, in a previous interview, Wade let the world know his interest in nail grooming and all that jazz was actually inspired by the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan.

“At first, I thought I was like, I can’t get no polish on my nails; I just got to do (a) buff because I come from a community where if you do anything outside of the masculine norm, you’re gay.”

Go figure.

LeBron James and Canyon Bicycles Unveil ‘Find Your Freedom’ Campaign

lebron james canyon find your freedom radavist 12

LeBron James is a cyclist? Ya’ll knew that? Well guess so because the NBA star turned mogul and Canyon Bicycles just launched their “Find Your Freedom” campaign. The launch features a visual showcasing LeBron alongside several Canyon athletes.

This collab between Canyon and James is not new, guess we been out the loop, although it appears to be the first time folks are hearing about it.

Get this, back in 2022, LeBron James made a significant investment in Canyon Bicycles, totaling €30 million ($30.5 million), no small sum, through his investment firm LRMR Ventures. What’s interesting is that move wasn’t James’s first penetration into the cycling industry, as he was part of a smaller investment deal with Cannondale in 2008. Let us find out King James is about to be on the Tour de France – kidding. But if it happens, we predicted the idea first, ha!

Diving into the partnership/investment, James’s investments in cycling align with the spirit of the “Find Your Freedom” campaign.

Of course LeBron being LeBron the philanthropist via his LeBron James Family Foundation, he has donated hundreds of bikes and helmets to children in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

That makes sense because cycling played a crucial role in James’s childhood, growing up when his family didn’t even own a car, and riding his bike was a primary way he got around town. But let’s not forget he did have a Hummer in like 11th grade so things turned around from there, Just sayin …

But obviously, his personal connection is a genuine reason why bicycles are a key part of his charitable efforts.

So the “Find Your Freedom” campaign, places an emphasis on the joy of cycling, and the visual was filmed in James’s adopted city of Los Angeles.

Business is business with James and his connection to Canyon far exceeds charitable gifts. As mentioned he has a financial stake. Canyon employs a consumer-direct approach providing competitive pricing, allowing their bikes to be more accessible to a broader global audience. Now with James being a face associated with the brand, his influence will likely inspire more people to consider cycling as a healthy lifestyle or hobby.

Check out the visual.

Dwyane Wade Weighs in on Viral Steph to LeBron Lob on Team USA: “Looks Familiar”

Screen Shot 2024 07 14 at 1.35.08 PM

It’s wild to think outside of NBA All Star games, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Golden State Warriors Steph Curry have not played together. The two future Hall of Famers have been especially vocal about teaming up for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

ICYMO, last Wednesday (July 10), Team USA, which some consider one of the best olympic basketball squads ever assembled on paper, played their first exhibition game against Canada.

The American stars game away with a sound victory, even against fellow star NBA players who hail from Canada.

As expected, James and Curry were key in the catching the W, in what is shaping up to be a tough starting lineup with Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker, Boston Celtics’ Jrue Holiday, and Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid.

Get this, a highlight of the action was an incredible, much awaited alley-oop between James and Curry or should we say Curry to James, in case you really weren’t sure, ha.

The icon to icon pass for the slam quickly went viral.

James seizing the moment, shared the play on the Gram, and who stepped into the chat? None other than Bron’s former Heat teammate, Dwyane Wade.

The Flash, as he was often referred to brought back memories of their more than iconic image from their days in South Beach. Wade, made note in the comments:

Jalen Brunson Snatches $157M Extension Now Rather Than Waiting for $269M in 2025

image

Jalen Brunson, who signed with the New York Knicks two years ago, a steal when you think about it, and significantly catapulted the team to elite status in the Eastern Conference, just got the bag. On Friday, Brunson agreed to a four-year, $156.5 million contract extension, as confirmed by his agent, Sam Rose, to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Look, in the grand scheme of players cashing out $250m and better this may not be wild but Brunson is still relatively young and the take the money now instead of risking injury or having a sub par season in a contract year, while allowing his team to get better with cap room may turn out to be a smart and selfless move.

Brunson initially joined the Knicks on a four-year, $104 million contract before the 2022-23 season, a move widely acclaimed as one of the best free-agent signings in recent history. So he was already swimming in it. His MVP caliber performance in the Big Apple has been pivotal in transforming the Knicks into a formidable team. Contenders. Let’s be real.

As we mentioned Brunson’s immediate impact has revitalized the Knicks, making them an appealing destination for star players once again. Now New York is great again on the hardwood. It’s good for the city and great for the league.

Ge this, the storied franchises aggressive offseason strategy aimed at building a championship contender included a significant acquisition: Mikal Bridges, Brunson’s former Villanova teammate, from the Brooklyn Nets.  Additionally, the Knicks secured swingman OG Anunoby on a five-year, $212.5 million deal, assembling a team poised to compete for a title in the upcoming season.

Now what will they do next year? They have cap space, a solid core and a hunger we haven’t seen since the Pay Ewing days. Time will tell.

2024 ESPYS Host Serena Williams Calls Out Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker “We Don’t Need You”

image

ICYMI, the 2024 ESPYS took flight Thursday night and stunning host Serena Williams took playful jabs at several celebs and maybe fired a few shots from the big stage under the shining lights of the Dolby Theatre. But it was her remarks fired at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker that raised eyebrows.

So it all went down while Williams, her sister Venus, and actress Quinta Brunson were discussing the importance of women’s sports. Full stop. That’s important and we’re glad they had a platform to say what needed to be said.

Venus emphasized, “So, go ahead and enjoy women’s sports like you would any other sports, because they are sports.”

Serena then stepped in like one of her powerful forehands, with a quip, “Except you, Harrison Butker. We don’t need you.”

Oh boy, Butker, who attended the ESPY Awards and walked the red carpet, became the subject of Serena’s comment due to his controversial statements made during a commencement speech at Benedictine College earlier this year.

If you need a reminder of how to be tasteless, while addressing the graduates, Butker said, “For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives. I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

Rightfully, Butker’s speech sparked widespread backlash after excerpts went viral, leading to Serena’s pointed remark during the ESPYS.

Good for you, Serena. Boss moves.

Serena Williams Reveals She Attempted to Deposit First Million Dollar Paycheck at ATM Drive-Thru

image

Back in the day for Serena Williams, she was so focused on being the best that she often forgot to collect her prize money. Must have been nice, ha!

Williams, now aging gracefully at 42, has amassed nearly $100 million in prize earnings, meaning winnings from tennis matches before eventually retiring in 2022. She revealed something interesting on First We Feast’s YouTube show “Hot Ones” last week:

“Is it true that you rarely collected your winnings your first year on tour and then once tried unsuccessfully to cash your first million-dollar check in a drive-thru ATM?” host Sean Evans asked.

“Those are all true,” Williams responded. Throughout her 27-year career, during which she won 23 Grand Slam singles titles and 73 career singles titles, she said, “I never played for money. I played because I loved the sport … I wanted to win.”

Way back in the 90s, Williams made her professional debut at the 1995 Bell Challenge in Quebec City, Canada. She took home a not so impressive $240 check after falling in a qualifying match. But she was young, just 14, and wasn’t eager to spend it. Smart young lady. But get this, she kept that same energy after snagging her first million-dollar payday.

“I never really spent a lot of money,” Williams said. “I just went through the drive-thru and the guy was like, ‘Uh, I think you need to come inside for this.’” Hilarious.

As time went on, her “tax guy” often reminded her to scoop up her prize money.

“He would be like, ‘You didn’t get your money?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, I didn’t get that one in Zurich. I forgot that one in Moscow,’” she recalled. “I was playing to win, and if I didn’t win, I wasn’t thinking. I was just so angry that I wanted to just figure out a way to get better and win the next time.”

These interesting experiences that coupled Williams success, contributed to her financial literacy education. Full stop. This is so important for all young people to focus on. Not just a super star athlete who was earning big numbers. It’s all relative and financial literacy is invaluable. They say teaching children about personal finance is crucial. As early as ages 5 to 8 prepares kids to understand how to save, spend, and invest by ages 8 to 12.

She went on to say “I remember having to figure that out and having to learn how to manage from a very early age and not get crazy with it, and so he empowered us to do that,”

Williams added that when negotiating sponsorship deals, she was active in the process.

“I’m 16, my dad is negotiating, they’re going back and forth, and he wants me there for the whole time to make sure I know what to do in the future,” she said. “I learned early on that your paycheck from tennis — maybe that’s why I forgot them — should be your smallest earning.”

Looks like Serena Williams figured it out and hopefully made really smart decisions with her bread. Hopefully we can all learn more about financial literacy and pass on that knowledge to generations to come.

Jaylen Brown Questions Nike After Finals MVP is Not Selected by Team USA Basketball

Screen Shot 2024 07 11 at 2.17.43 PM

Wait hold up, the NBA Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown is not on Team USA?

The NBA community and basically the world was left dumbfounded when the player with the second biggest contract in NBA history Jaylen Brown was not chosen as an alternate for Team USA,. This head scratcher lead the Celtics super star to legitimately question the motivations behind the choice …

Derrick White was selected on Wednesday to replace Kawhi Leonard on the United States Olympic roster, bringing the total number of Celtics players on Team USA to three.

White is AWESOME. A scrappy, two way player who hits BIG shots but all due respect he is not Jaylen Brown.

Get this, USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill did not provide a clear explanation for Brown’s omission, but he did dismiss the idea that Brown’s history with Nike influenced the decision.

Brown, a newly minted NBA champion, appeared to disagree with this assessment. He posted, a bit on the annoyed side …

“@nike this what we doing?” Brown posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

Given Nike’s deep ties as the main sponsor of USA Basketball, many believe that non-Nike athletes like Brown and Irving are excluded from the team selection process. Oh, the plot thickens.

It’s been noted that in official team photos, non-Nike athletes’ shoes are often digitally removed or physically hidden. With most players on Team USA being Nike athletes, except for Stephen Curry (Under Armour), the exclusion of players like Brown and Irving seems linked to their non-affiliation with Nike.

Well, maybe it’s just that simple but Brown should be there. Period.
