Tinashe Covers “I’m Every Woman” For “Black History Always – Music For the Movement Vol. 2”

It takes a bold woman to tackle a Chaka Khan classic, but Tinashe did just that. On Friday (February 26), Tinashe’s cover of Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” hit streaming services—a track that is included on ESPN’s Black History Always – Music For the Movement Vol. 2The project features looks from other artists like Freddie Gibbs and Tobe Nwigwe, and for her inclusion, Tinashe belted out a pop-club version of Khan’s 1978 hit that later found new life with Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard version back in the 1990s.

According to The Undefeated, Tinashe wanted to deliver a rendition that was light, fun, and joyful. “Last year, there was just a lot of heaviness in the world,” said the 28-year-old pop star. “I’ve been dealing with a lot of emotional heaviness, and we’ve all been going through a lot.” Many of the singer’s fans have praised her take on the classic empowering single, so stream Tinashe’s “I’m Every Woman” and let us know what you think.

Quotable Lyrics

I can cast a spell, but you can’t tell
Mix special brew, put fire inside of you
Anytime you feel danger or fear
Instantly I will appear, ’cause

Kyle and Josh Golden Deliver A Bubbly Love Song On “But Cha”

Kyle has always been one of those artists who radiates positivity in his art. After getting famous off of his hit track “I Spy,” Kyle has managed to keep the same energy he started out his career with, and after every new release, he is able to grab fans with some catchy and bubbly tracks. His latest effort matches those aforementioned vibes as he recently teamed up with the likes of Josh Golden for a track called “But Cha.”

With this track, Golden kicks things off with a perfectly sung hook that speaks about a girl that has captured the artist’s attention. Kyle then comes in which his verses talk about wooing the woman and everything you would expect from the type of pop-rap track that Kyle is so famous for. The production matches the vibe and overall, this is definitely a fan pleaser.

Quotable Lyrics:

You way out of my leaguе and we know it (We know it)
I got 0s on my check like a pro, yeah (Like a pro, yeah)
Comment “the best” on all your posts, yeah

DDG, 42 Dugg, & OG Parker Link Up For Bouncy New Single “Money Long”

Popular YouTuber and rapper DDG has already recently blessed listeners with some heat via his verse on Bfb Da Packman’s “Honey Pack (Remix),” the viral hit that also features Quality Control rapper Lil Yachty. Now, weeks after curving rising rapper Rubi Rose for Valentine’s Day, DDG is back with another high-profile collaboration. The Pontiac, Michigan-born artist has linked up with hitmaking producer OG Parker for a collab project, and together, they have shared the first single from their upcoming joint effort.

“Money Long,” featuring 4PF and CMG artist 42 Dugg, is the first sample of what’s to come from DDG and OG Parker’s upcoming joint project DIE 4 RESPECT, which is set to release sometime over the next month. The Michigan and Memphis artists link up over OG Parker’s bouncy West Coast-inspired production for a braggadocious new single. Despite the “We Paid” rapper‘s star power, DDG doesn’t let Dugg overshine him, giving listeners two slick and spirited verses.

Do you have high hopes for DDG and OG Parker’s impending joint project DIE 4 RESPECT?

Quotable Lyrics

Humble as fuck, but I know that I’m lit though
I spent two mill on my crib, that ain’t shit though
I spent a million on whips, still rich though
I know they sleep, that’s okay, they can get woke, bitch

Shelley (FKA D.R.A.M.) Releases His New Single “Exposure”

Last year, LVRN-signed hitmaker D.R.A.M. changed his artist name to his given name, officially going by Shelley professionally. The only music he had released under his new moniker came by way of the LVRN holiday album, lending vocals to some tracks on there. Finally, Shelley has released his first new single under the rebrand, dropping the “Exposure” music video today.

The new single is a soulful record about falling in love, showing Shelley at his most vulnerable, hoping that he’s ready to give and accept love from his partner. It comes following a full year of self-reflection from Shelley, who didn’t release much new music in 2020. Hopefully, this signals a new start for the artist formerly known as D.R.A.M.

Watch the new music video below, directed by Christian Sutton. What do you think of Shelley’s new direction?

Quotable Lyrics:

Let me love you inside-out and outside-in
Let me touch your soul before I touch your skin
When you expose yourself to me
You have my consent, I wanted to see
What lies underneath
‘Cause beauty to me is more than skin-deep

Coolio Returns With Comeback Track “Out Fa The Bag”

It’s been a minute, but Coolio has officially returned to the game. Though it’s been a minute since the “Gangsta’s Paradise” legend was active on the scene, it would appear he’s ready to launch a full-blown comeback, going so far as to resign with his former label Tommy Boy Records. And while he certainly made his mark during his heydey, it seems as if the veteran Compton emcee has done his part to adjust to the modern musical climate, as evidenced by his brand new single “Out Fa The Bag.”

Featuring an assist from Al and C.L.A.Y, Coolio’s latest may very well raise eyebrows from some listeners, if only for the major stylistic shift. Taking to an up-tempo instrumental from DJ Wino, Coolio slides in with a reliable flow and a simple goal in mind: securing the bag. “Whatup to my killers and all my bitches,” he raps, his delivery rugged. “I hope ya’ll ready to get these riches / stack that guap those dividends / me and Wino pimpin’ in an all blue Benz.”

While it’s unclear as to whether Coolio intends on following through with a new album, this return, unexpected though it may be, is welcome news for longtime fans of the beloved rap figure. Check it out for yourself now.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Whatup to my killers and all my bitches,
I hope ya’ll ready to get these riches
Stack that guap those dividends
Me and Wino pimpin’ in an all-blue Benz

Fred The Godson’s “Gracias (Ascension Theme)” Arrives Alongside His Final Music Video

It has been nearly a year since the tragic passing of Fred The Godson, who sadly succumbed to COVID-19 last April. Fred’s presence is still felt throughout Hip-Hop and the Bronx, as seen earlier this week with a South Bronx street being named after him as well as his first posthumous album Ascension. Now, Fred’s estate is sharing the visuals for the album opener to his new posthumous release, which also happens to be the final music video ever filmed by Fred The Godson before his untimely death.

As mentioned under the music video’s description, “Gracias (Ascension Theme)” illustrates “the creative high” that Fred was on prior to his passing. In the roughly three-minute album intro, Fred unleashes a barrage of bars that serve as a prime example of the late artist’s characteristic intricate lyricism, witty punchlines, and passionate delivery.

“Gracias (Ascension Theme)” and Ascension are both available now on several streaming platforms, and according to HipHopDX, Fred the Godson’s Ascension with also soon be available on vinyl and CD, giving fans the opportunity to purchase physical memorabilia in honor of the fallen artist.

Quotable Lyrics

Ready to die, number 5 this is your warning
Sendin’ heat to your crib, this not house warming
Shoot the walls in, see we move with the pound
We warring, G, I’ll catch you snoopin’ around

Yung Bleu & Coi Leray Team Up For “Thieves In Atlanta”

Alabama-born crooner Yung Bleu and New Jersey-raised buzzing rapper Coi Leray team up for a brand new song about falling in love in Atlanta, dropping the music video for “Thieves In Atlanta” a few moments ago.

Spending time in one of the hip-hop world’s hubs, Yung Bleu and Coi Leray are no strangers to Atlanta. They especially know what it’s like to love in the city, making metaphors on how difficult it is to find that special someone for you in the industry and lamenting in the new song. The slow-paced ballad was produced by NOBY and the music video, which shows a hood love story primarily taking place inside the strip club, was directed by Kalani Kelly.

Yung Bleu has been buzzing for a minute, striking with “You’re Mines Still” and getting a co-sign and feature from Drake. Coi Leray has equally been making noise, leveling up with her hit single “No More Parties” and promising to follow up strongly with a Pooh Shiesty feature.

What do you think of the new record from Yung Bleu and Coi Leray?

Quotable Lyrics:

Thieves in Atlanta, that’s where I land here
I done beat the odds like a miracle
I swear she had it planned out on the low
They say hold my heart down in Atlanta
Word is, they stealing hearts now in Atlanta
I don’t need it anyway

Key Glock Drops Hard-Hitting “I’m The Type”

We’ve already previously established that anything involving Key Glock (and/or Young Dolph) and producer Band Play is basically a guaranteed banger. The equation remains true in the case of Key Glock’s latest release, once again opening with the familiar Band Play tag, before unraveling a hard-hitting piano-laden beat for Glock to stomp all over. It’s triumphant, as it perhaps should be, considering Key Glock is basically big upping his own efforts and his own work ethic through out the record, while simultaneously putting you down. Everything Key is, it seems you are not.

Shortly after debuting the audio for this song across streaming services at Midnight, Glock also followed it up with an official music video, which you can watch above. And if you need more music from Glock, check out last Friday’s collaboration with his label head Young Dolph, “Case Closed.” Key also makes a couple of appearances on Dolph’s deluxe edition of Rich Slave.

Let us know if you’re a fan.

Quotable Lyrics

Got my money long, yeah, my money grown
Yeah, I was getting it on before I dropped the songs
Yeah, bitch, I’m well known, you know I keep one on me
Yeah, you know I keep one on me, you can ask your homies

DaBaby Officially Takes Over SpotemGottem’s Viral “Beat Box”

While other rappers were giving their take on Coi Leray’s infectious “No More Parties” single, DaBaby set the world ablaze last week with his voracious “Beat Box” freestyle. DaBaby’s hungry performance completely stunned several Hip-Hop fans, including Lil Baby, who hilariously responded to the freestyle saying, “Who pissed you off?” Other reactions to the freestyle, however, were rooted in controversy, regarding DaBaby’s left-field bar “N****, you a b****, JoJo Siwa (B****).”

Despite the controversy surrounding the Charlotte rapper’s freestyle, rapper SpotemGottem didn’t hesitate to incorporate DaBaby’s verse into the second official reissue of his viral hit. “Beat Box” has been a gift that keeps giving for the rising Florida artist, who has experienced his first taste of mainstream success following the #junebugchallenge catapulting his April 2020 single. SpotemGottem’s last project Final Destination housed “Beat Box 2”, the first remix of the viral single that featured none other than the bubbling 1017 Records artist Pooh Shiesty.

How do you think DaBaby’s input on “Beat Box 3” stacks up against the Pooh Shiesty-assisted “Beat Box 2?”

Quotable Lyrics

She told me she like how I’m dressin’ and I ain’t eatin’ no salad (Uh-huh)
Stevie Wonder can see that I’m havin’
I told her, “Be patient,” she waited
I gave her the dick, she walked out doin’ the “‘Beat Box’ Challenge”

Chloe x Halle’s “Hazy” Is A Seductive RnB Record

Chloe x Halle returned to their highly-praised sophomore effort, Ungodly Hour. The album originally dropped in summer 2020, but even a pandemic couldn’t stop its momentum. Since the album’s release, both sisters, who are signed to Parkwood Entertainment, aka Beyonce, have seen their public interest stock sky-rocket up, coinciding of course, with their decision to create individual social media accounts.

The re-release of Ungodly Hour, rather than being framed as a ‘Deluxe Edition’ is being referred to as a ‘Chrome Edition.’ Whereas we’ve seen rappers re-release their album with an entirely new tracklist sequencing and almost a whole album’s worth of new songs, Chloe x Halle keep thing simple, and we are all the more pleased about it. They’ve added two new songs, tacked on to the very end of the album, so as not to mess with the original sequencing. Both songs are vibes, r’n’b but still with enough energy and movement.

We’re highlighting “Hazy,” a Chloe Bailey-produced record that seduces the listener, with lyrics alluding to a sex-fueled relationship, and the energy that such a relationship might foster.

Take a listen, and check out the recent music video for “Ungodly Hour” here.

Quotable Lyrics
You fallin’ for me, baby
I know you I make you crazy
Like when the clouds are hazy
You like to smell my daisies
I can see that you wanna
I smell on your cologne
Be tough now don’t be lazy
