WS Boogie Absolutely Snaps On “Whoopty Freestyle”

For those who haven’t been keeping score, Westside Boogie has been on an absolute tear of late, warming up for his upcoming album with a slew of standout freestyles and loosies. Linking them together, by his own admission, is a resolute dedication to debauchery and doing whatever the hell he wants to do. Today, Boogie has come through with a brand new freestyle, taking to CJ’s breakout single “Whoopty” to spit some bars.

Though the Compton rapper doesn’t tend to favor Brooklyn drill production as a rule, it’s clear he has no issue with obliterating the infectious instrumental. In fact, he rides the beat with precision, building in intensity as his rhymes unfold. “Hundred percent of me went to the Lord, when momma was poor and I never wanted a sip,” he raps, as the drums pull back. “Hate on the front of my lip, how I’m gon’ stomach this shit, this hunger a son of a bitch.” The drums return with a vengeance and Boogie follows suit. “Feel like you love to trigger me,” he spits. “Can’t forget how to touch an enemy.”

Even if he does swear this will be “his last week of being a hood rat,” expect Boogie to keep the momentum rolling and then some as his anticipated new album approaches.

Laney Keyz Bares His Soul On “Famous”

Days ago, reports surfaced that an attempt was made on West Coast rapper Laney Keyz’ life. In leaked surveillance footage, three gunmen were seen dumping shots into the rising rapper’s Los Angeles home, and thankfully, Laney Keyz survived the frightening ordeal without any physical injuries.

It turns out that the 23-year-old East Oakland artist has already spoken on the dangers of the West Coast on his single “Famous.” Released a week prior to the shooting at his home, the rising rapper laments about the struggles with his newfound fame as well as the deadly threats lurking in his hometown.

Over a melancholy trap beat, Laney Keyz peels back the layers of his origin story, sharing his fears, loyalties, and imperfections with listeners as he reveals that rather than getting famous, his ultimate goal is escaping his negative surroundings. In the song’s chorus, he bares his soul and admits that he has been yearning to go back home to the Bay, but he also understands that it’s safer for him in Los Angeles.

What are your thoughts on Laney Keyz’ latest single?

Quotable Lyrics

Thought about going ghost, but I got family
Thought about going home, but that sh** deadly (yeah)

Maroon 5 Enlists Megan Thee Stallion For “Beautiful Mistakes”

Maroon 5 may be one of the most adaptable bands in recent memory, seemingly switching up their style with every passing year. As such, they’ve managed to find success on the charts with damn near every single release, and today’s brand new “Beautiful Mistakes” will likely prove to be another notch in the belt. Especially given that they officially brought Megan Thee Stallion into the mix, who is in the midst of her own triumphant run.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Levine praised Megan as an ideal collaborator, speaking highly about the Houston artist. “Shee is a superstar, but really in the truest sense, man,” explains Levine. “She’s all class, and just we had the best time shooting the video, and it was just a lot of fun, man. I was cracking jokes the whole time, making her laugh.” As for the music itself, there’s a clear radio-friendly sensibility to the track, which tackles a relationship gone awry — in other words, a relatable enough theme for the masses to appreciate.

Should you be interested in crossover tracks of this nature, be sure to check out “Beautiful Mistakes” right now, and look for Maroon 5’s upcoming album that’s set to land in the near future.

Seven Years Have Passed Since Rick Ross Linked Up With Big Sean & Kanye West For “Sanctified”

On March 3, 2014, Rick Ross released his sixth studio album after a rough two years following God Forgives, I Don’t. Having survived a drive-by shooting around his 37th birthday, beefed with 50 Cent, and delivered controversial lyrics on Rocko’s hit single “U.O.E.N.O.,” Rick Ross was under a lot of pressure to deliver a strong full-length effort. The result was the soulful and generally well-received Mastermind

Mastermind was led by the Jay-Z-assisted single “The Devil Is A Lie” and further supported by singles such as “War Ready” featuring Jeezy and “Thug Cry” with Lil Wayne. However, one of Mastermind‘s undisputed gems was the deep album cut “Sanctified,” which boasted guest appearances from G.O.O.D. music artists Big Sean and Kanye West.

Although the album version of “Sanctified” cut Big Sean‘s full verse in favor of a much more effective chorus, the song flourished nonetheless thanks to a soulful Betty Wright sample and an electrifying post-Yeezus verse from Kanye West. While fans never got to hear the fabled Yeezus 2, “Sanctified” gave them a great Kanye feature and added some flair to Ross’ sixth studio album.

Seven years later, what is your favorite song from Mastermind?

Quotable Lyrics:

And wash my sins in the blood of Jesus
People sayin’, “Ye we need another Yeezus”
Lames try to tell me, “Cut the wildin’ out, out”
But who the f*** is you reachin’?

Lil Durk, King Von, & Booka600 Release New OTF Anthem “JUMP” With Memo600

With the new compilation album from Only The Family, Lil Durk’s label, coming this week, the voice of Chicago has released a new posse cut with Booka600, Memo600, and the late King Von to prep for the release.

“JUMP” is the latest single to come from Loyal Bros, the upcoming compilation project from OTF. It features four of the label’s hardest artists, including Durkio himself, a posthumous verse from King Von, Booka600, and Memo600. The crew raps about their status in the streets, menacing their opps with hard-hitting bars about their weapons.

The full album releases in two days with appearances from the entire gang, including lesser-known members Timo, Doodie Lo, C3, and more. Of course, Durk and Von will be making multiple appearances on the tape too.

Listen to “JUMP” below and let us know if you’ll be listening to the OTF project on Friday.

Quotable Lyrics:

See, sh*t it’ll get real, you ever been on the drill

He can’t slide, he need him a pill
He a b*tch, it is what it is
That’s your mans you’re tryna uplift
But when it’s wartime, n***as ain’t gon’ do sh*t

Deante’ Hitchcock Taps A Lil Wayne Classic For “Let The Beat Build (Freestyle)”

He’s been setting the booth ablaze with each release, his last being back in January with the deluxe version of his Better project. Deante’ Hitchcock has been one to watch as he’s made his voice heard on collaborations with Guapdad 4000, JID, 6LACK, and Miguel, and now the Atlanta rapper has returned with his first single of the year: “Let the Beat Build (Freestyle).”

As the title of the song suggests, Hitchcock tackles Lil Wayne’s “Let the Beat Build” from Tha Carter III. The hypnotic beat is famously produced by Deezle and Kanye West, and Hitchcock showcases a valiant lyrical effort over the instrumental. He proves that in the days, weeks, months, and years to come, he’s a force to be reckoned with in the Rap game. Stream “Let the Beat Build (Freestyle)” and share your thoughts on Deante’ Hitchcock’s bars.

Quotable Lyrics

Knew dudes out here that was robbin’ hoods
Before those stocks was hittin’
Hearin’ all them pops goin’ off at night
But most of our pops was missin’
Treat yo street like a Rubix Cube
With all that block spinnin’

Smooky Margielaa Is Back With “Chose Another Way”

Smooky Margielaa emerged as the child star of the mysterious AWGE umbrella yet it seems that things have been relatively stagnant in his career. We barely heard from him last year and even after becoming a part of the extended A$AP fam, no album has been released yet.

It appears that could be changing in the near future. After what felt like a bit of a hiatus, he returned with his latest single, “Chose Another Way” earlier today. The rapper’s bouncy, melody-driven track reflects on the lack of trust that’s left him with a cold heart while flaunting a closet filled with designer brands and exotic fabrics.

Check out the latest single from Smooky Margielaa below. Are you happy to hear from him again? Sound off in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics
They will never ever know my pain
That’s why I go so hard
I’m really different, no we’re not the same
Can not compare, nah

Money Man Delivers A Quick Banger With “Spin”

Money Man simply does not stop working so he really does live up to his name. The rapper bought his way out of his Cash Money contract a few years ago and began his journey as an independent artist. It’s been a successful journey. Between leaking his own records as demos on his YouTube page, he slid through with project after project but in 2020, he slowed his roll down a little bit more and honed in with Epidemic and State Of Emergency.

This week, the rapper returned with a quick new loose track called, “Spin” that he dropped on his YouTube page. Money Man touches his usual guitar-tinged type production with lavish flexes and witty one-liners on his hustle.

Check his latest single “Spin” below.

Quotable Lyrics
Walk in the crib, had drip on me head to toe
She gettin’ real moist
Lil bro just said that the opps was dead
I finna go and rejoice

G4 Boyz Serve Up A Cold Banger With “Hmm”

G4 Boyz hasn’t released a project since 2017 when they dropped, The African Plug. They’ve been dropping music since 2013 but in the past year, it feels like they’ve even become an even stronger force, especially as they make more international connections. 2020 was a productive year that witnessed the success of several singles like “Prada” and its subsequent remix with DreamDoll as well as the success of “Local Scammer” which produced two remixes — one with Ivorian Doll, and another with Chief Keef.

Kicking things off for 2021 is their latest banger, “Hmm.” With a chilling drill beat backing them, G4 Boyz detail their lavish lifestyle filled with women, cash, and the finest luxuries one can indulge in.

Check out the single by the G4 Boyz below and sound off in the comments.

Please don’t bring a card with overdraft funds

Flo Milli Gets Animated On “Back Pack (Flora The Explorer)”

Flo Milli’s on her way to the top. The rapper recently declared herself the “Princess Of Rap” which sparked a bit of a debate but she’s evidently putting in the work to back that as much as she can. The release of 2020’s Ho, why is you here? propelled her towards mainstream consciousness while singles like “Beef FloMix” and “In The Party” racked up millions of views on YouTube.

Last month, the singer slid through with the visuals for her latest single, “Roaring 20s,” an appropriate title for the times. She’s now followed it up with an homage to Dora The Explorer with her new loose release, “Back Pack (Flora The Explorer).” Sampling the show’s theme music, she unleashes her bubbly flow over poppy keys that she contrasts with the real reason she has a back pack.

Check it out below.

Quotable Lyrics
Red beam on the dog, when I aim I don’t miss
Don’t open your lip, ’cause I might just reach in my (back pack)
I snowed out my wrist, I got some new drip
Plenty racks in my new Gucci (back pack)
