G Herbo Is Ready For Battle On “Really Like That”

It’s been some time since we’ve received a new release from G Herbo, aside from his features, and on Friday (March 5), the world was blessed with two new tracks. The Chicago rapper has been busy balancing his personal and professional life as he faces legal troubles and a growing family. We’ve previously reported on the charges against Herbo in connection to an alleged fraud case, and while his attorneys attempt to keep him out of jail, Herbo has been preparing to welcome his child with fiancée Taina Williams.

The rapper enthusiastically posted about his two singles on Instagram—”Break Yoself” and “Really Like That”—by writing, “I AINT DROP SH*T SINCE I DROPPED MY ALBUM. FEELS LIKE A GOOD TIME TO GET BACK TO IT.” We’re highlighting “Really Like That” first, and it’s clear that Herbo is ready for a productive and game-changing 2021. Stream “Really Like That” and let us know what you think about G Herbo’s latest.

Overkill ’em why you had to nail him to the cross like that (Dang)

In one week, Sean Paul will release one of two albums he has planned for the year. AJ Tracey Returns From A Brief Hiatus With “Anxious”

British rapper AJ Tracey has been on a roll since dropping his self-titled debut album in 2019. Tracey has been enjoying an extremely successful run, having added six top-5 UK singles and 4 platinum-selling singles to his brag sheet over the past eighteen months. Now, the Londoner is back with his first single, “Anxious,” following a brief hiatus at the tail-end of 2020.

“Anxious” arrives right on time for AJ Tracey’s 27th birthday, and the single finds the UK artist in a rather confident state, boasting about his accomplishments and newfound star power. In the song’s first verse, AJ Tracey immediately captures your attention by name-dropping one of the biggest artists in the music industry: Drake. He starts his verse by saying, “Yeah, I just heard Drake spit this flow like yesterday, it’s crazy,” using a “Drizzy!” adlib to make sure that everyone knows he’s citing the Certified Lover Boy artist as an inspiration for the hard-hitting and bravado-driven single.

Are you looking forward to whatever AJ Tracey has in store?

Quotable Lyrics

AJ Tracey’s such a d*ckhead, all he do is boast (Why’s that?)
He been getting drunk like everyday, he raise a toast (Facts)
I just wanted selfies, but I couldn’t get in close (Why?)
When his n*ggas pull up, I swear them boys do the most

Bas & J. Cole’s “Night Job” Was The Perfect Teaser For ‘Too High To Riot’

Today marks the five-year anniversary of Too High To Riot, the sophomore album from Dreamville artist Bas. Released on March 4, 2016, Too High To Riot arrived two years after his impressive debut outing Last Winter and found the French-American Rapper in a creative zone that expertly showcased his talents and growth as an artist. Executive produced by Ron Gilmore, the album boasted guest appearances from The Hics as well as Bas’ fellow Dreamville artists Cozz and J. Cole

Five years since the release of Too High To Riot, “Night Job” still remains as one of the highlights from Bas’ sophomore album. “Night Job” was the album’s lead single, and it featured an iconic guest appearance from none other than J. Cole, joining a long list of phenomenal collaborations between the fellow Dreamville artists. The single found both artists trading witty, high-energy verses, and it successfully got fans hyped for the then-impending release of Too High To Riot.

Where does “Night Job” rank for you in terms of Bas and J. Cole collaborations?

Quotable Lyrics

Too high to riot, that’s my best excuse for being lazy
Being an artist, that’s the best excuse for being crazy
I’ve been so infatuated, went to Clark and graduated
Now she on my face time and, my n****, she just masturbated

Joell Ortiz, Stalley, Namir Blade, & Solemn Brigham Snap On “Black Rock”

Mello Music Group has officially announced the release of their new compilation album Bushido. Due out for release on April 2nd, the stacked project is set to feature appearances from ApriQuelle Chris, Open Mike Eagle, Solemn Brigham, Oddisee, Homeboy Sandman, Zackey Force Funk, Skyzoo, Namir Blade, Oddisee, James Shahan, Joell Ortiz, Stalley, Dueling Experts, RJ Payne, Murs, Cambatta, Kool Keith, B-Real, and The Perceptionists.

Now, the first single “Black Rock,” featuring Joell Ortiz, Namir Blade, Stalley, and Solemn Brigham, has arrived in a flurry of bars. Over an ice-cold banger, Joell Ortiz whips up a relentless flow, stringing together words with precision as he raises the stakes with his opening verse. “That Brooklyn borough is thorough, over bitches Bengals they through bullets like Burrow, and put you in the ground like you burrowed,” he spits. “Then spin your block again just to make all that murder shit plural / I can’t believe I made it like sperm that’s supposed to be sterile.”

What follows are verses from Blade, Stalley, and Brigham, each of whom fleshes out the posse cut with distinctive style and well-honed lyricism. It’s clear that Mello Music Group values the art of penmanship, and expect Bushido to feature plenty more where that came from.

Will you be tuning in when the compilation lands on April 2nd?

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Kendrick Lamar Brought Twisted Swagger To “Levitate”

Five years ago, Kendrick Lamar offered fans a further window into his psyche with Untitled.Unmastered, a project largely comprised of leftover tracks from the To Pimp A Butterfly sessions. And while it wasn’t quite up to the admittedly lofty standard of his recognized studio discography, there were still plenty of stellar moments to be found throughout. Especially on the strange and wonderful “Levitate,” a track that found Kendrick taking to a twisted instrumental and pushing his experimental level to the maximum stage.

Pushing his cadences to strange places, Kendrick lets fly an unrestrained flow as he fires off a hypnotic refrain. Though it might have been interesting to see him attack the instrumental with a more traditional approach, there’s something delightfully unsettling about his presence here, a true display of unhinged creativity. Alternating between a manic temperament and a more lethargic one, Kenny’s “Levitate” is surprisingly complex in spite of its apparent simplicity; those interested in that sort of thing could likely find much thematic value upon closer analysis.

For those simply looking to lose themselves in a banger, “Levitate” serves that purpose as well. Check it out for yourself now, especially if you’re feeling nostalgic for the era when Kendrick Lamar was dropping music at a prolific rate. Happy anniversary to Untitled. Unmastered.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Shut your fuckin’ mouth and get some cash, you bitch, you
You be in your feelings, I be in my bag, you bitch, you

Lil Baby Is “Real As It Gets” In New Single With EST Gee

Lil Baby just doesn’t miss, does he? The Atlanta-based superstar rapper has upped his rate a few times in the last few years, fulfilling his prophecy and becoming one of the most popular artists in the world. He’s built his platform off of consistency, and he’s constantly praised for his ability to continually deliver solid projects and singles.

A few months ago, we heard from Lil Baby through his “Errbody” and “On Me” two-pack and, just a few days ago, Baby announced that he’s got new music on the way with Louisville start-up EST Gee. Refusing to get caught up in Drake’s swoop on Thursday night, Baby dropped his single a little early, sharing the new music video for “Real As It Gets” on YouTube.

Produced by DY Krazy and ATL Jacob, “Real As It Gets” was initially teased on Instagram Live. The song has been mentioned as a rumor to be included on Baby’s upcoming mixtape Lamborghini Boys, which is coming when lockdown ends.

The track is being praised on social media as both rappers do their thing on the record. Listen to it below and let us know what you think in the comments.

I wish you would play with me,  boy you a b*tch

Yaya Bey Stands Tall On Her New Single “fxck it then”

Brooklyn singer and poet Yaya Bey first came to our attention with the release of 2020’s The Madison Tapes, an intimate and relatable body of work broken down into a side-a and side-b. It’s been on steady rotation since its release last June but thankfully, we won’t be waiting a full year to receive its follow-up.

Last week, Yaya Bey released her latest song, “fxck it then” which serves as the lead single off of her forthcoming project, The Things I Can’t Take With Me, due out on April 9th. It’s a jazzy effort, largely due to the infectious horns, and will probably fuel plenty of future Instagram captions to read, “Fuck being good, now I’m a bad bitch.”

“I wrote fxck it then in 5 minutes. I was so angry. My heartache had finally gotten to that boiling point where it went from sadness to fuck it then. And that feeling sort of carried me out of the grief into a more empowered place,” she said in a statement to HNHH.

Quotable Lyrics
Nothing you could do to me
That won’t make me rich
I write beautifully

Soulja Boy Gets Active On “Whip It”

It’s been an eventful few days for Soulja Boy. No one really expected that the rapper would be engulfed in some sort of feud with the WWE but still, he found himself at the receiving end of a scathing diss from Randy Orton and others. Soulja Boy insists that he can defeat all of them in the ring and we’re all waiting to see that happen.

Thankfully, the latest in Soulja Boy’s internet antics actually arrived with some new music. The rapper uploaded a brand new banger to Soundcloud called, “Whip It.” It treads familiar ground for any Soulja Boy track, discussing money, drug trafficking, and of course, Dracos. It’s a short record running for 1:40 minutes. Check it out below and off in the comments with your thoughts.

Quotable Lyrics
Bitch, I’m ready to kick down your door
Boom, boom, n***a, get on the floor
Get the Pontiac lit, n***a I gotta go

Renni Rucci Serves Up Another Banger With “Can’t Be”

The ladies that have emerged from the South in the past few years have had a strong grip on the rap game. City Girls and Megan Thee Stallion are running things but Renni Rucci is ready to be the next-up. The South Carolina rapper’s been climbing up the ranks with projects like QuickTape and 2019’s Big Renni.

It seems like a follow-up could be arriving in the months ahead now that she’s blessed us with her first official offering of 2021, “Can’t Be.” Breezy guitar loops and bouncy 808s bring out a laidback, auto-tuned hook out of Renni who reps for the independent ladies out there.
