Skepta & Ben Okri Team Up With Tony Allen On “Cosmosis”

A posthumous album from the late Tony Allen will arrive later this month to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his death. There Is No End is due out on April 30th through Blue Note records. Over the weekend, they released the first single from the project, “Cosmosis,” a collaboration alongside Skepta and Ben Okri. The song was co-produced by Allen, Damon Albarn, and Remi Kabaka.

“This man could have lived another 150 years and kept creating new worlds,” said Okri in a press statement. “He had become the master shaman of his art. He knew himself and his mind. He wanted the album to be open to the energies of a new generation… but like a great mathematician or scientist who found a code for a new world, with just a few beats, he created this extraordinary canvas.”

Quotable Lyrics
She was lookin’ for a prince so now she’s hittin’ the road
She tried kissin’ a frog oh now she’s lickin’ a toad
Spiritual girl, she’s got a story to tell, she taught me to love myself,
Forget everyone else, forget and I forgive

NBA YoungBoy Drops Off A Ballad In “I Ain’t Scared”

NBA YoungBoy is one of the most prolific artists out right now as he is constantly dropping new songs. His most recent effort was called “Toxic Punk” and now, he is back with a brand new effort that was put on his YouTube yesterday. The track is called “I Ain’t Scared” and it is an emotional tale about the life he lives and how his lifestyle has affected those around him.

In terms of production, we get some piano lines and rattling hi-hats, which offers a more subdued approach compared to some of his other tracks. From there, YoungBoy gives us some autotuned lines about how he knows he can die at any moment and that he isn’t scared of it. He also drops fast bars throughout the track, and it’s clear the young artist is as focused as ever.

Give the track a spin, and let us know what you think.

Quotable Lyrics:

I’m alright
Don’t worry, don’t cry
Ain’t nothing no one can do to save my life
Just know I’m your flying angel if I leave through the night

Jimmy Hu$tle Is “Parked Outside”

Jimmy Hu$tle has touched down with a new single, Parked Outside.” The silky smooth single features a gospel organ and playful pianos that give it a vintage vibe. Hu$tle employs a stop-and-go flow to weave his bars between the rhythmic percussions. Each snare hits with a softness that accentuates the pianos, giving them a crisp kick.

“Parked Outside” isn’t a typical radio banger, but it would serve well on a Summer playlist. The beat alone makes us think of warm weather and long nighttime drives in the muggy air. Hu$tle’s flow meshes well with the vibe as well, giving listeners an excellent combination of bars and beat. Stream “Parked Outside” now and check out Hu$tle’s new album Dumb Hustle II: Still Dumb

Quotable Lyrics
These bitches looking for a trick to treat ’em
Need me a bitch that’s gon’ suck this dick
And shut the fuck up while I roll my weed up
Hold up, let me roll my weed up
Big backwoods and it’s full of OG

Renni Rucci Fires Back At Mulatto With “BeatBox Freestyle”

The Junebug Challenge has taken over the world with celebrities like Kevin Hart and Saweetie delivering their own renditions of the TikTok trend. However, the song has also formed a life of its own, propelling SpottemGottem into the limelight. The hit record’s received a few remixes to date. DaBaby hopped on the remix, Pooh Shiesty appeared on the sequel, and Mulatto recently put her spin on the record which seemingly took aim at a few female rappers, including Renni Rucci.

The “Hands On Your Knees” rapper fired back with her own remix of the record. It’s a short offering that runs a little under 2 minutes but Renni took it to the booth where she declared herself “THE BIGGEST.” Even though she didn’t mention any names, the subliminal references were enough to pick up on. “You talk shit on the sleep but bitch we all know who the biggest is/ I been countin’ Benjamins, look like I hit the lotto/ Bitch, you know just what the business is, I really hit the Latto,” she raps.

That bar was in a response to Mulatto rapping, “I’m the biggest. Ain’t nothing big about y’all h*es! So if the b*tch name ain’t Latto, don’t put ‘Big’ in front of it. Straight up.”

Check out Renni’s take on SpottemGottem’s record below.

Quotable Lyrics
God damn, Alyssa, you look like Renni in all your pictures
How you take a bitch whole style then turn around and try to diss her?
Told Raffi ice me out, Big Renni pendant like a blizzard
When he asked you what you wanted know you showed him all my pictures

Scorey Shops For Love On “Dior You”

Scorey wants to treat his lover to whatever she likes. Splurging on a lover is the main concept behind Scorey’s latest single “Dior You.” The play on “adore you” aims to create a single for the ladies that men can also vibe too. Produced by Aidan Han & Berki, the “Dior You” beat is dope. The melodic guitars are peaceful yet exciting at the time.

Scorey’s raps aren’t very creative nor imaginative, but he does lay down some cool vocals. “Dior You” sounds like a track you can throw on your playlist, and vibe out to when it pops up in the rotation. However, the short single can get a bit repetitive after a few listens. What do you guys think about Scorey’s new single?

Quotable Lyrics
But she been ashing blunts on her dresser
Told me about her first hеartbreak
Might take months to forget him
Shе told me our love was forever
But lately I been feelin’ unsure
And only drugs made me better
She just wanted a thug nothin’ better like realest love ever

TyFontaine And SoFaygo Talk Success On “Run It Up”

TyFontaine and SoFaygo are no strangers to success on their newest collaborative track “Run It Up.” The two flex their recent influx of cash and dance with some scantily-clad women in the music video, which was directed by DotComNirvan. The track was released as promotion for TyFontaine’s upcoming album Ascension, which he says is “on the way.” “Run It Up” shows off the melodic, high-pitched rap styles of TyFontaine and SoFaygo, who are only 20 and 19 years old, respectively.

Julius Roosevelt Terrell, better known as TyFontaine, is a DMV rapper and songwriter who was recently signed to Internet Money Records and has connections to other young artists like Lil Tecca and Taz Taylor. His track “virtual world” garnered hundreds of thousands of streams on Soundcloud, and his 2020 debut album 1800 featured “Fetish,” his first-ever song to pass 1 million streams.

SoFaygo is a Cobb County, Georgia-based rapper who has been recording his own music since he was in fourth grade. Similar to TyFontaine, SoFaygo has major industry connections with Lil Tecca, who entirely produced his first breakthrough mixtape, Angelic 7. “Knock Knock,” their collaborative track, has more than 7 million plays on Spotify. SoFaygo is cementing himself as a star without the help of a major label, and it doesn’t seem as though he’s ready to slow down anytime soon.

Quotable Lyrics
Fucking on this ho, man, it was what it was
Treat you like some nic’, bitch, you only give me buzz (Uh)
When I’m rocking Rick, I get all type of love
Said that she in love, she on all type of drugs, yeah-yeah

SK8 & Tyla Yaweh Are “Famous”

SK8 is trying something a little new with his latest single “Famous.” The track blends pop-rock with hip-hop to create a sound that is a genre-melting experience. The jubilant guitars and smooth melodies sound great together. The Taylor Gang artist also brings Tyla Yaweh along for a feature. Although the track does sound like it could jumble in with the rest of the poppy songs on the radio, “Famous” does have an addicting hook.

“You’re always turning the page, and it’s about not looking back,” SK8 told American Songwriter of his new sound and project. “No matter what happens, we can still all get on the same page. Whether we’re going through something, we can always still figure things out through communication. If you really want something, you gotta go for it. You gotta say it. If you get aligned with everything in your life, you’ll be alright.” Let us know what you think of “Famous” below.

Quotable Lyrics
She just wanna be my famous girl
She be havin’ dreams she in my world
If it’s not about a bag, baby, tell me what you live for
She wanna band, I be poppin’ on a billboard

Dominic Fike Covers Paul McCartney On “The Kiss Of Venus”

Paul McCartney is a legend in the music world and everyone should know who he is. The former Beatles member is still making music and recently, he dropped a project with a beautiful song called “The Kiss Of Venus.” Next month, McCartney will be coming out with an album full of covers of his own songs, and on the project will be Dominic Fike’s version of “The Kiss Of Venus.”

With this version, we get a nice little acoustic ballad that will immediately make you want to fall in love. It’s filled with that iconic McCartney songwriting, all while Fike delivers a great vocal performance that stays true to the original. Overall, it’s a great cover and it’s cool to see Fike getting such a big look.

Quotable Lyrics:

The kiss of Venus has got me on the go
She’s scored a bullseye in the early morning glow
Early morning glow
Packed with illusions, our world is turned around
This golden circle has a most harmonic sound
Harmonic sound

Lancey Foux & Skepta Connect On “WHAT U WANT”

The UK rap scene has been flourishing over the past few years. It largely has to do with the international success of a few artists along with the rise of drill but Lancey Foux doesn’t seem to fall under either category. Instead, he’s built a cult-like following with his mysterious persona and Atlanta-influence.

This week, he unveiled his latest body of work, FIRST DEGREE. The new album is eleven tracks in total with a sole feature coming from Skepta who appears on “WHAT U WANT.” A menacing banger with a sinister beat to back them as they talk their shit.

Skepta and Lancey Foux have an incredible track record together with the pair previously working together on “Animal Instinct” and “PSYKENIGHT.”

Check out their new collaboration below.

And I come through bowling, sexy ting, I’m pinnin’ it
