It’s clear that the 22-year-old has seen a lot. He’s officially back with his new video “Tombstone”, which will appear on SoulFly

In the song, Rod Wave focuses on his come-up story, speaking about the “lames” that constantly keep his name in their mouths and how he wants to be remembered as one of the realest in the game.

Quotable Lyrics:

And f*ck these n***as ’cause they lame
Since they love saying my name
Make sure you write the truest in the motherf*cking game
On my tombstone when they bury me
By the river, they will carry me
Finally, I’ll be resting in peace

Quotable Lyrics:

I can see it in your eyes, you’re angry
Regret got sh*t on what you’re feeling now
Mad cause he ain’t like me
Oh, you mad cause nobody ever did it like me
All the care I would take
All the love that we made
Now you’re trying to find somebody to replace what I gave to you

Benny The Butcher Connects With Damone Tyrell On “BeverlyMontana”

Buffalo, NY is planting their flag in the rap game. It was just a few years ago when Shannon Sharpe got into it with Westside Gunn about Buffalo’s rap scene and since then, the whole city’s proved them wrong. Griselda is carrying the flag but Benny The Butcher’s reach as a member of the label and the head honcho of B$F has proven his worth.

This week, the rapper teamed up with fellow Buffalo native Damone Tyrell for their new collab, “BeverlyMontana.” Tackling gritty, East Coast sample-based production, Damone and Benny The Butcher come through with ferocious bars while putting on for their city with pride. Benny kicks off the track before handing the baton over to Damone to close it out.

Quotable Lyrics
Turned the team to a brand, that’s seven-figures a year
There’s eight seats in a lear, it only took my three years
Raw stampin’, bring 60 large in a Dodge Magnum
Talkin’ ’bout gettin’ rich, I had dinner at Ross mansion

K Camp Drops Bars On “Do It From The Heart Freestyle”

It seems as if there’s little room for sleep in K Camp’s schedule. Along with his own career, he’s bringing new artists to the fold with the RARE Sounds label. The rapper recently released the deluxe edition of RARE Sound’s RARE FAMILY compilation tape but Camp keeps it pushing, even after a major accomplishment. Quando Rondo Celebrates 22nd Birthday With “Angel Wings”

Quando Rondo has been basking in infamy over the past few months. His connection to Von’s death, and apparent lack of remorse of the situation, has turned him into a polarizing figure in rap, though it seems only beneficial to his career. He’s been continuously releasing new music over the past few months following the release of 2020’s Diary Of A Lost Child.

The rapper turns 22 years old today, and in celebration of the occasion, the rapper released a brand new single titled, “Angel Wings.” With Razy Beats on the production, Quando Rondo reflects on the highs of his career and the paranoia that comes with it over melancholic guitar chords.

Check out the latest offering from Quando Rondo below and sound off in the comments with your thoughts.

Quotable Lyrics
Gucci collar on my neck, I guess it’s snakes on a plane
No I won’t move without my TEC, too many snakes in the game
I do the dash inside the ‘Vette, free all my dogs out the cage
Shoot from the three then hit all net like Giannis or Dame

MF DOOM & Madlib Were “America’s Most Blunted”

The hip-hop world continues to mourn the loss of MF DOOM, who passed away on October 31st, 2020. Widely hailed as a creative genius and artistic visionary, DOOM left behind an esteemed discography of classic records — including but not exclusive to the Madlib-produced Madvillany, a 2004 project regarded as one of rap’s greatest releases. Considering that the album has officially turned seventeen today, it feels appropriate to highlight one of Madvillany’s singles, “America’s Most Blunted.”

Though Madlib’s in-your-face production might not be something modern audiences are entirely used to, it helped emphasize how truly unique Madvillainy was as a strange and cohesive sonic experience. As an emcee, DOOM seemed to thrive over beats with plenty of character, and though he did dabble masterfully in the abstract, his frank way with words was equally profound. “DOOM nominated for the best rolled L’s,” he boasts, over Madlib’s bombastic beat. “And they wonder how he dealt with stress so well.”

Happy anniversary to MF DOOM and Madlib’s Madvillany, and rest in peace to one of the game’s true originators.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

DOOM nominated for the best rolled L’s
And they wondered how he dealt with stress so well
Wild guess? You could say he stay sedated
Some say buddha-ed, some say faded
Someday pray that he will grow a farm barn full
Recent research show it’s not so darn harmful
Sometimes you might need to detox
It can help you with your rhyme flow and your beat-box

Usher, Jadakiss, & Just Blaze Made Magic On “Throwback”

Depending on who you ask, Usher’s 2004 album Confessions may be one of the greatest r&b records to ever grace the game. And seeing as today marks the project’s seventeenth anniversary, it feels appropriate to highlight one of the many gems to emerge from Usher’s fourth studio album. What better song to highlight than the quintessential throwback, “Throwback,” the Just Blaze and Jadakiss-assisted single?

So the story goes, Blaze originally intended “Throwback” to be a climactic song on Dr. Dre’s Detox, though the Doc’s looming “retirement” led him to shift his focus to Usher’s camp. And while it might have been nice to hear Doc’s take on the soulful track, Usher certainly made it his own in resounding fashion. Though he missed the boat on the initial release, Jadakiss ultimately went on to add a verse to the track for the remix, his raspy cadence an interesting juxtaposition to Usher’s tones.

Seventeen years later, “Throwback” feels extremely refreshing, a unique blend of hip-hop and r&b served with convincing credibility. It’s no surprise that Confessions resonated on such a deep universal level, to the point where the diamond-certified project is among the best-selling albums of all time. Be sure to revisit this one on the record’s birthday, and sound off if you agree with 21 Savage’s assessment that Confessions is the greatest r&b album of all time.

Finally, I realized that I need you
I want you back, baby girl, I need you back
Gotta have you back, babe

King Los Makes It Look Easy “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See”

While we’ve become conditioned to expect new music to land on Fridays, King Los has come through to ease the wait a little with the release of a lyrically-charged EP, Four Peace NuggetFeaturing freestyles over beats from Mobb Deep, Busta Rhymes, and Drake — whose “Lemon Pepper” provides the backdrop of the incredible closing track — it’s pretty much consistent bars throughout. Still, when an artist brings the “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” instrumental out of the vault and gets busy, it’s always worthy of notice.

Over the percussive classic, Los wastes little time in establishing utter dominance, attacking the beat with an unconventional flow few emcees could conceivably pull off. Within the first few bars, Los unravels a ridiculous bandana-scheme, showing off a keen mind for wordplay as he warms up. “My city like a Rubix Cube, either you flipping them squares, or flipping over them colors getting your block spun,” he spits. “Fuck all the shine I’d rather have all the grind / if I lend you my watch I’d never call it mine / and if you don’t give it back, that’s where I draw the line / and in more than one way you’ll be living on borrowed time.”

Check out King Los’ take on “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” right here, and sound off if you think it’s time to start recognizing him as one of today’s lyrical elites.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

My city like a Rubix Cube, either you flipping them squares,
Or flipping over them colors getting your block spun,
Fuck all the shine I’d rather have all the grind
If I lend you my watch I’d never call it mine
And if you don’t give it back, that’s where I draw the line
And in more than one way you’ll be living on borrowed time

King Los Absolutely Snaps On New “Lemon Pepper Wings Freestyle”

King Los tends to make the act of bodying instrumentals look like a relatively straightforward process, and his new four-track EP 4 Peace Nugget is no exception. Featuring a batch of freestyles over beloved instrumentals, including Mobb Deep’s “Survival Of The Fittest,” Busta Rhymes’ “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See,” Mobb Deep’s “Give Up The Goods,” and Drake and Rick Ross’ recent duet “Lemon Pepper.” While there are plenty of bars to unpack throughout, as the longest track, King Los’ “Lemon Pepper Wings” feels worthy of spotlighting.

It doesn’t take long for Los to get going, taking to the sparse instrumental with a focused flow. “Since you riding a wave and I’d rather own a ship,” he spits. “Why we even having these conversations? He gon think he gon want this smoke til we having complications / the last n***a that I coached, got a Grammy nomination.” Some were quick to speculate that Los was addressing a recent Clubhouse conversation with Tsu Surf, during which tempers proceeded to flare. In any case, Los clearly had more than a few thoughts to gather, continuing his lyrical onslaught for nearly five minutes straight.

Should you appreciate the art of lyricism in its truest form, be sure to check this one out, as well as the additional tracks off Los’ new 4 Peace Nugget EP. Seeing how hard he actually snapped, be sure to share your own favorite stanzas in the comments below.

I’m tryin’ to blow the roof off
I’m tryin’ to burn this b*tch down, if you want
