Trapboy Freddy Revamps A Dallas Classic On “Oakcliff” Ft. Yella Beezy & More

It’s been over 10 years since Hotboy Star and Young Nino set Dallas ablaze by putting on for their neighborhood with, “Oakcliff That’s My Hood.” The regional anthem continues to shut down clubs within the region to this day, though it never witnessed that much success outside of the Dallas area. This week, Trapboy Freddy revamped the record, along with some assistance from its originators, as well as Smurf Franklin and Yella Beezy. “Oakcliff” is essentially a modernized take of the record that brings some prominent figures from the area to revisit the classic song.

The song was so big that apparently, people from outside of the area began claiming Oakcliff. “They started a fucking movement with that shit, bro,” Yella Beezy explained on HNHH’s On The Come Up of the impact of “Oakcliff That’s My Hood.” “Like, n***as that weren’t even from Oak Cliff, they were claiming that. Like, you had to really ask people their address, and who they knew, and what school, or who they hung with. Like, you had to dig into it because everybody wanted to false claim Oak Cliff at this time, when that song came out, you know what I’m saying?”

Check the song out below.

Quotable Lyrics

DJ Megan Ryte Employs Kranium, Casanova, And Rich The Kid For “Fly”

On “Fly,” Kranium, Casanova, and Rich The Kid talk about being so obsessed with someone that you just have to fly them out for a baecation. The artists seem so blinded by love on the track that money doesn’t matter, rapping, “Baby, fly with me, yeah, everything nice / You can get what you want, don’t check the price.”

DJ Megan Ryte comes through on the track with a percussion-heavy, danceable beat, one that will inevitably become the sound of the summer as the weather gets warmer. Ryte, a multi-hyphenate artist and Renaissance woman of sorts, currently has her own show on New York’s legendary HOT 97 where she mixes current, trendy music on weekdays. She has traveled around the world as a tour DJ for years before making her own music, dropping two singles with notable names like Tory Lanez, Joey Bada$$, and Yung Bleu.

Her debut album releases on April 16th and it is certainly not one to be missed, so be sure to listen to the new track and watch the accompanying music video below.

Wiz Khalifa Shares Unreleased Nipsey Hussle Verse On “Hopes & Dreams”

Monday will mark 10 years since the release of Wiz Khalifa’s major-label debut. Rolling Papers felt like a long-winded win after Khalifa’s hustle through the mixtape and blog circuits, and his independent approach to the game. To commemorate the milestone, Wiz returned with an anniversary edition of the project including four tracks, as well as an unreleased from the late Nipsey Hussle. The two initially had collaborated on “Hopes & Dreams” but Nip was never heard on the final edition.

Atlantic Records confirmed the plan was to include Nip on the original version of the track but was never finalized “due to clearance issues, despite the two farsighted rapper/entrepreneurs’ long friendship and close personal bond.”

Check the track below and let us know what you think of Nip’s verse.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m smoking while she dancin’ topless
I think lil’ mama think she down
Tell me that she strips so she could pay her way through college
Bricks of money like I robbed a bank
At my table wrapped in plastic with a gang of drank

Young Dolph & Key Glock Get Stupid Money On “Dummest & The Dummest”

Young Dolph and Key Glock have maintained a flawless track record together on wax. Each time the Paper Route Empire head honcho and his protege connect for a single, it takes over the streets, and the demand ultimately pushed them to release a collaborative album, Dum, and Dummer. Yesterday, the duo slid through with the sequel to their 2019 project, Dum, And Dummer, and it did not disappoint. Stacked with 20 songs in total, including a few solo tracks sprinkled into the mix, the Memphis duo closed out the track with a statement with “Dummest & The Dummest.” Bandplay handles the chilling production while Dolph kicks things off, asserting his boss status as an independent artist before Key Glock reflects on McDonald’s-themed Lambos and L.A. women.

Check the track out below.

Quotable Lyrics

CJ Extends “Whoopty” Reign With “Latin Mix” Ft. Anuel AA & Ozuna

It’s the song that keeps on giving. Staten Island rapper CJ is on his way up thanks to his breakout hit “Whoopty” and it seems that once fans think the hype surrounding the single has dissipated, a new remix or freestyle comes to the surface. We recently received a remix that included features from Rowdy Rebel and CJ’s “mentor” French Montana, and another has been shared, the Latin Mix version, with looks from Anuel AA and Ozuna.

Along with the bilingual remix comes a Fight Club-inspired visual that matches the temperature of the track. Expect to hear much more from CJ in the coming months as the new Warner Records signee attempts to recreate—or supersede—the success of his first Top Ten hit.
