Rod Wave Laments The Trials & Tribulations Of Fame On “Shock Da World”

Rod Wave’s come-up has been a sight to behold over these last couple of years. With every new release, he delivers more and more hits and on Friday, he dropped his latest effort, titled SoulFly. There are a plethora of great tracks to listen to here but one that certainly stands out above the rest is an effort called “Shock Da World” which is found on the second half of the album.

This song is filled with some nice 808s and electric guitar will get you hyped for the bars that await. Lyrically, Wave spits bars about his come-up and the adversity he had to face on the way up. He even laments about the haters that have gotten in his way, and he even questions why they’re so pressed by him.

Overall, it’s yet another dope track from the artist and you can stream it, below.

Quotable Lyrics:

I tried to motivate the people but I made ’em angry
I tried to show ’em it was all love, that made ’em hate me
They criticize me and talk bad ’bout me on the daily
I get the money and stay out the way, they think I’m crazy

Ron Suno & Sheff G Put The Takeover In Motion On “Winners”

Ron Suno’s made an effortless transition from comedy into rapping over the years that many might overlook his comedic side. The Bronx MC has risen to fame alongside the Brooklyn drill scene, tackling the sound with his own twist on the triplet flow. The release of 2020’s Swag Like Mike further cemented his status in the New York scene, especially with his unique twist to the drill sound.

This week, he emerged with a brand new banger alongside a pioneer in the drill scene. Ron Suno and Sheff G connect on their sleek new banger, “WINNERS.” F.A.M.E. delivers a high-energy beat fitted to hit the Woo to while Ron Sumo unleashes a flow that hits like gun fire. However, it’s Sheff G that steals the show on the record in a matter of bars. The Proud Of Me Now rapper slides through with confidence and ease before flipping into an ASMR flow and whispering the last few bars of his verse.

Young Dolph & Key Glock Keep It 100 At All Times On “What u see is what u get”

There are hardly two rappers who keep it as real as Key Glock and Young Dolph. The Memphis rappers have carved their own lane in the rap game, especially for Dolph, who continues to position himself as an independent boss with a blossoming roster with Paper Route Empire. Glock, who is part of the Paper Route Empire family, has continued to build a solid catalog, both as an independent artist, as well as his collaborative efforts alongside Dolph.

Among the many highlights on their latest joint project, Dum & Dummer 2, the rappers declare their uncut authenticity on track 2, “What u see what u get.” Bandplay creates an atmospheric space with touches of 80s nostalgia while Key Glock and Dolph reflect on their blessings. “We made the rules then broke the rules, we do what we want,” Dolph raps.

Bobby Sessions Drops “Cog In The Machine” From His Upcoming Album

Dallas rapper Bobby Sessions has released the first single from his upcoming album. “Cog in the Machine” sees Sessions rapping about systemic racism, wealth inequality, and more. The song samples “Sooner Or Later” by N.E.R.D., which Sessions has said is his favorite track of all-time.

Speaking about his new single, the Grammy-winning artist says it was inspired by his decision to commit to his music career full time back in 2014:

I quit my 9-5 job back in 2014 with hardly any money to do music full time. It took a tremendous amount of courage to strive for the life that I couldn’t see in my physical reality. This song represents taking that leap of faith and not settling on doing something that you don’t love to do. Jumping into the unknown and discovering your unlimited potential.

Be on the lookout for Sessions’ new album soon.

Benny Blanco Drops New Track Featuring Late Rapper 6 Dogs

Benny Blanco released his new album, Friends Keep Secrets 2, on Friday, and the project features a new track, “Lost,” from the late rapper 6 Dogs, who was a close friend of Blanco’s.

6 Dogs died from an apparent suicide at the age of 21 back in January. He was a rising voice in the emo-rap scene and collaborated with Lil Skies, Cole Bennett, and more. His biggest singles include “Faygo Dreams” and “Flossing.”

Justin Bieber & DaBaby Connect On “Know No Better”

Justin Bieber is far from the squeaky-clean pop star that he was introduced as a teenager. The boy has demons, though it seems like they aren’t all bottled up as they probably once were. His new project, Justice, though misleading by its title, is a testament to Bieber’s growth throughout his career, especially now as a married man. On Friday, the rapper returned with the “Triple Chucks” deluxe edition of the project that extended the 16-song tracklist by an additional 8 songs.

Stacked with guest appearances, Bieber enlists DaBaby on their smooth collab, “Know No Better.” The slow production allows Bieber all the room to woo the ladies while DaBaby uses the spacious production effectively with a slower flow and even some melodies.

Yaya Bey Drops Off New Single “september 13th”

The multi-talented Yaya Bey is readying the release of her forthcoming project, The Things I Can’t Take With Me which is due out on April 9th. This week, she returned with the second single off of the project, “September 13th.” It’s a moody yet uplifting record that finds the singer reflecting on a dwindling relationship that is far beyond the point of repair. Along with the single, she shared a music video for the track. “September 13th is the day I realized the relationship I fought so hard for would never be the same,” Bey said in a statement. “[The video]is inspired really by how the song made me feel when I would listen to it in my bedroom. I kept imaging poses which felt like a photoshoot theme would go best with the song. We added a love interest to give it the story it needed. The song is stripped down and really is just about a feeling and the video needed to be the same way.”

One song that many have already gravitated towards is “Love Or Lust,” which is an undeniable bop.

With this song, 24kGoldn goes for a different approach as the song has a kind of Bruno Mars feel to it. From the bass lines to the strings, the beat is incredibly groovy and 24kGoldn makes use of the production by bringing in some solid songwriting and catchy flows. It’s yet another solid effort from the young hitmaker, and it will surely make a few playlists.

If so, then you gots to go, it ain’t mutual and I’m not pretending

You need to slow down, shawty, you way too focused on me

DJ Megan Ryte Gets Soft With Guapdad 4000 And Flipp Dinero On “Fall Thru”

On “Fall Thru,” DJ Megan Ryte, Guapdad 4000, and Flipp Dinero get soft. The track talks about trying to make plans with someone that you really want to see, and feeling so strongly about a person that you want to dedicate all of your time to them. Being in love is something everyone can relate to on some level, so Flipp Dinero’s verse definitely hits home:If I can give her my all / Swear that we never gon’ fall apart.”

The few singles that Megan has released so far showcase just how many genres, including drill, trap, and lofi, that she can thrive in. Her debut album, which is slated to release on April 16th, will certainly have something for everyone. DJ Megan Ryte Teams Up With Drill Artist Sleepy Hallow For “Strapped”

DJ Megan Ryte is promoting her forthcoming debut album with three new singles, one of them in collaboration with Sleepy Hallow, who has been a major pioneer within Brooklyn’s drill scene. On this dark, hard-hitting track, Sleepy Hallow talks about sitting on top and being untouchable, being able to get whatever girl he wants and essentially evading any kind of consequence. “Your bitch a baddie, you can’t get her back / And she call me daddy only ’cause I rap,” Hallow raps.

“Strapped” showcases DJ Megan Ryte’s versatility as an artist and producer, as the drill scene is not one she normally covers on her famous radio show on New York’s legendary HOT 97. It’s clear that Megan wants to come out of the gate at full speed for her debut album, which drops on April 16th. Based on the three singles she’s released so far in anticipation of it, it’s bound to be an exhibition of her many talents.
