Mother Nature & Valee Put On For Chicago With New Collab “GOOFIEZ”

Mother Nature is currently doing justice in hip-hop, both for the female rap game and the legion of burgeoning Chicago-bred emcees overall. The duo seems to be doubling down on the “put on for my city” initiative with their latest single “GOOFIEZ,” and the ladies are getting some help thanks to another Chicago native that’s pretty ill behind a mic as well.

G.O.O.D. Music’s own Valee is the emcee at hand who helps bring the collab to life, with each rapper included delivering an impressive set of bars that shows off their individual flows respectively. Lyrically, “GOOFIEZ” is all about stunting with an emphasis on doing so as a strong unit with your closest homies. Basically, do your best to leave the “goofs” on the sideline where they can’t interrupt your glow-up, and continue to rock out with your winning team as we move into better weather and (fingers crossed!) a healthier and disease-free society. Sounds about right if you ask us!

Take a listen to “GOOFIEZ,” the latest single by Mother Nature featuring Valee off the duo’s upcoming album SZNZ, by streaming the track below or on your preferred MSP. The LP is expected to be released on April 20 via Closed Sessions, so be sure to stay on the lookout as it’s set to feature appearances from the likes of Brittney Carter, Freddie Old Soul, The Cool Kid’s own Sir Michael Rocks and more. Let us know your thoughts as always down below in the comments section:

Quotable Lyrics:

Is we politicking or we b*tching?
I don’t really know
Found a way to activate the vision
Sh*t is mind control
What you speaking? How you living?
What’s the riddle of your soul?
This one’s for my n****s
Hope my real ones found the antidote

Fetty Wap Opens Up On His Latest Track “Paterson Legend”

Though his relationship drama has often occupied headlines, it’s always nice to hear new music from Fetty Wap. The New Jersey rapper hasn’t necessarily been releasing music at the same rate as he used to due to bad business. However, he promised us in December that he’s “goin’ up” and it seems like he’s staying true to his word.

This week, the rapper released his latest single, “Paterson Legend” along with an accompanying music video. The rapper details his come-up in New Jersey, as well as his rising success in the rap game but overall, it’s a dedication to the city of Paterson that raised him.

Check out the latest offering from Fetty Wap and let us know in the comments what your thoughts are on his latest track.

Quotable Lyrics
When them n***as ran down
They seen the lions come out
Skinny n***a, big homie
Them money makers come out
So much money ’round my table
Ain’t no debating too much
I got some n***as out in B-More
That get it shakin’ too much

Tierra Whack Returns With New Single “Link”

Tierra Whack may not operate under the busiest schedule, but the scarcity with which she drops makes every release feel like a special occasion. And while many are still patiently waiting for the lyricist to deliver a studio album follow-up to Whack World, one can not rush an artist who so carefully moves at their own pace. Today, Whack has come through to deliver a new single in “Link,” a bubbly and melodic track that comes complete with some colorful visuals.

Conceptually, much of “Link” draws inspiration from LEGO, with whom she partnered for the accompanying music video. “Orange, green, yellow,
purple, red,” she raps. “Building up an empire, taking over the entire world, so many pieces, leave em all speechless.” While some might have been hoping to see her picking up where her “Whack History Month” freestyles left off, “Link” effectively showcases Whack’s versatility, proving once again that one must always expect the unexpected whenever she drops new music.

Check it out for yourself now, and sound off if you’re eager to see a complete project from Tierra Whack.

The latter shows up on Freedom, including a feature on “Where You Go I Follow” alongside Bieber, Chandler Moore, and Pink Sweat$.

The inspiring, Jesus-centered song is all about one’s dedication to Christ as Pastor Judah Smith holds down the outro as he preaches about why the divine figure is unlike any other being. Kevin Gates Shares “Beat Box” Freestyle

It’s been a little over a month and a half since Kevin Gates slid through with the release of his latest project, Only The Generals Pt II. The project came without warning but was certainly a pleasant surprise to kick-off 2021. Thankfully, it seems like the project could be a taste of even more music to come in the future. On Friday, the rapper returned with his freestyle over Pooh Shiesty’s hit record “Back In Blood” ft. Lil Durk.

Apparently, that wasn’t the only track that Gates had in the cut. Shortly after, he followed up with his own freestyle over SpottemGottem’s viral hit “BeatBox” where he brings out syrup-induced raspiness as he effortlessly glides over the heavy bass production.

Check out Kevin Gates’s new freestyle below.

The Isley Brothers Tap Snoop Dogg For Smooth “Friends And Family”

After recently wrapping up an epic Verzuz battle against Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Isley Brothers have come through to ride the wave with their new single “Friends and Family.” And for the celebratory occasion, the legendary group enlisted their old pal Snoop Dogg for a closing verse; lest we forget, Snoop and Ron Isley previously joined forces on Swizz Beatz’s star-studded anthem “Bigger Business” back in 2002.

Though The Isley Brothers have been releasing music since the 1950s, “Friends and Famiy” proves that they haven’t lost a step in the slightest. Ron Isley’s soulful vocals have aged particularly gracefully, and his calls to embrace the positive vibes certainly resonate in an era that can sometimes feel overwhelmingly dark. “Go right ‘head and smoke and play some cards, just make yourself at home,” he sings. “It’s okay to take somebody’s hand and get your groove on.”

Snoop Dogg reinforces the point with a few final words, his slick flow at home over the bass-driven groove. “Hand my drink to wifey and sit my cup down, now the whole fam bam gettin’ down,” he spits, a snapshot into how a typical Broadus shindig goes down. “I mean, I mean, I just had a plate of them greens / I’m on the dance floor groovin’ like a dancing machine.”

Check out the latest single from The Isley Brothers now, and show some love to the legendary group in the comments below. In other news, Ron Isley was recently working in the studio with Dr. Dre and Fred Wreck, so stay tuned to see how that development unfolds.

Boslen Continues Rising With “DENY” Featuring Tyla Yaweh

Fans are truly behind Vancouver-based pop-rap newcomer Boslen, who is proving to be one of Canada’s most exciting hip-hop exports. Ahead of his upcoming debut album DUSK to DAWN, Boslen has officially released the music video for his latest single “DENY” featuring Tyla Yaweh. The painful lyrics unpack a relationship gone wrong, which is recreated in the hazy visuals directed by Bailey Wood and Natasha Dion.

Quotable Lyrics:

You were in my dream last night and now we’re in it (Yeah-yeah)
I’ve been doing fine, I won’t lie, I do miss it (Yeah-yeah)
Went from holding you close to lost in the smoke
Used to pray for the hope but we lost control

DMX Sought Guidance On “Lord Give Me A Sign”

It’s a difficult time for DMX’s family, friends, and fans, as the legendary rapper remains hospitalized in a vegetative state. Yet in the midst of the darkness comes a sliver of light, seen through the staggering amount of love X has been receiving on social media. Universally recognized as one of hip-hop’s greatest rappers of all time, many have been vocally sharing their appreciation for X’s deep and long-running catalog.

While much attention has been (rightfully) paid to his first four albums — It’s Dark & Hell Is Hot, Flesh Of My Flesh, And Then There Was X, and The Great Depression — it feels appropriate to look to one of his Year Of The Dog…Again cuts, “Lord Give Me A Sign.”

Produced by Scott Storch, the spiritually-focused track managed to subvert expectation with a vaguely troubled guitar-fueled beat. X slides overhead with an adept flow, highlighting the inner duality that has long been a dominant driving force within his writing. No matter how dark circumstances may appear, DMX remains unwavering in his dedication to the Lord. Invoking Jesus Christ himself in the climax of his second verse, X proved that he could make a spiritually charged banger that still manages to hits hard.

Bittersweet though it may feel to revisit DMX’s music in this difficult time, there remains a comfort to be taken in knowing DMX’s faith has endured so thoroughly for all these years. Please keep the rapper in your thoughts, and celebrate everything his legacy has to offer.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Trapped in your own mind, waiting on the Lord
Or hunting with the word that cuts like a sword
The spoken word is stronger than the strongest man
Carries the whole world like the strongest hand
Through the trials and tribulations, you never let us down
Jesus, I know you’re here with us now
Jesus, I know you’re still with us now
Keep it real with us now, I wanna feel, show me how
Let me take your hand, guide me

Tony Moxberg Taps Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, & Benny The Butcher On “Love”

When people lament that “real hip-hop” is dead, or at the very least missing, it’s likely that this is the sound they are pining for. Tony Moxberg, a longtime affiliate of D Block (the label launched by The LOX in 2002), has officially come through with “Love,” enlisting the talents of Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, and Benny The Butcher.

Setting off over a misleadingly saccharine sample, the beat opens up as the drums kick in. Jadakiss holds it down with the hook, as Moxberg sets it off with some solid bars on the hustle. “My Brooklyn man keep a rocket everywhere that he go,” he raps. “Remind you of Harding except his beard doesn’t grow.” Sheek Louch slides through with the second verse, bringing boundless energy as he reflects on the many loves of his life. Lastly comes Benny, fresh off the release of the incredible Plugs I Met 2, who keeps it moving with a sturdy closing verse in keeping with the track’s main theme. “I love rap but I can still get it rocking today,” he spits. “In the trap with the pot, stove, a long clock, and a safe.”

Check out this collaboration between four hip-hop veterans now, and sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.
