Lakeyah Taps Yung Bleu For “Perfect”

Quality Control is a driving force behind some of the most successful women in rap right now. The City Girls are dominating but Lakeyah is serving up bars in her own right. A former slam poet-turned-rapper, her QC debut, Time’s Up put everyone on notice that she’s a force set to dominate the game.

This week, she pulled up with his latest body of work, In Due Time. Laced with 12 songs in total, the Midwest rapper links up with Yung Bleu for a highlight off of the project titled, “Perfect.” Lakeyah switches in and out of flows over the dreamy production as she details a ride-or-die relationship before Yung Bleu provides the male perspective in the situation.

Check out her record below & peep “Rise & Grind… With Lakeyah.”

Quotable Lyrics
I’m drivin’ her crazy in this Hellcat
I sprayed on Versace, know you smell that
I love when she suckin’, pull her hair back
I pull out my hammer, I’ma nail that

Gab3 & Lil Peep Deliver A Pop Punk-Inspired Banger On “Spine”

For the last few years now, Gab3 has continuously cemented himself as a dope artist and producer who knows how to deliver a plethora of sounds to the table. For instance, he just released a brand new album called Ready To Rave which features a ton of electronic sounds while also coming through with some production that will remind you of the pop-punk era of the mid-2000s. A great example of the latter is the track “Spine” which features Lil Peep.

With this song, Peep handles the hook while Gab3 delivers a verse. The production certainly has its electronic elements, however, it is the delivery of the track that gives us the pop-punk vibe. With this posthumous hook, Peep sounds incredible and his fans will surely appreciate how Gab3 handled the collaboration, especially given the fact that they worked together in the past.

You can stream the track, below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Why would you cry? I don’t know
I was getting high, now I’m way too stoned (Yeah)
I’m too high, I was way too gone (Hah)
I was getting too high, now I’m too low (Get wrecked)

K Hus Returns With Some Dope Vibes On Lil Duke-Assisted “The Blame”

Long Island artist K Hus has been making a splash as of late thanks to his sticky melodies and strong songwriting ability. In 2021, melodies are more important than they’ve ever been which makes K Hus a hot commodity in the music world. He continues to attract big names to his music and over the weekend, he came through and dropped a brand new song called “The Blame (I Can Do Better)” which features the likes of YSL artist Lil Duke.

With this track, K Hus can be found singing over some nice guitar loops that really complement his autotuned voice. From there, the lyrics are about a woman he is trying to court, as he claims that he can do everything better than whatever she has experienced as of late. Duke comes through with a solid verse as well, making this a laid-back song that is perfect for any warm-weather playlist.

Quotable Lyrics:

Girl tell me what you into
I’ll tell you what I been through
What’s on your mental
Cuz the love ain’t the same

Dave Emerges With Some Heat On “Titanium & Mercury”

It’s been nearly two years since Dave released a new project. We can’t help but suspect that COVID-19 played a role in it. However, he’s also afforded himself the luxury of time when it comes to releasing new music, especially after 2019’s PSYCHODRAMA.

Today, the UK wordsmith emerged after a lengthy break from the limelight with a quick two-song pack. “Mercury” and “Titanium” arrived without much of a warning, though fans were pleased by the release. On “Mercury,” the rapper offers an update on his life over breezy production with Kamal. offering some sultry vocals.

“Titanium” contrasts “Mercury.” The rapper delivers more of a drill-infused flow over key-laden production as he details the glory and the reality of the environment he grew up in.

Lakeyah Links Up With Gucci Mane On “Poppin”

On Friday, Wisconsin artist Lakeyah dropped her second project under her newly-acquired Quality Control label. The advantage of being signed and having a critically-acclaimed 2020 release, Time’s Up, under her belt is certainly not lost on Lakeyah, and “Poppin” sees her and Gucci Mane flexing their success. Lakeyah always has an IDGAF attitude about her, but she isn’t letting anyone talk back at her on “Poppin.”

Lakeyah started rapping in 2014, so her come-up definitely hasn’t been quick. She used to be part of a poetry slam team as a teenager, so she started writing down bars and making music, soon performing her first show in her hometown of Milwaukee. Her newest project In Due Time features other standout tracks like “Easy” and “Perfect,” which features Mobile, Alabama-based rapper Yung Bleu.

“Female Goat” Lakeyah is one of the newer additions to the female rap scene, and she is certainly not someone to sleep on. Check out her track “Poppin” below.

Quotable Lyrics
Bitch, I make him eat it sloppy, I might make him clean it up (Yeah)
Make that n**** wanna top me, if he want me, eat it up (Eat it up)
I don’t like these bitches in my business, I don’t sneak and fuck (Yeah)
I might give that ho her problem, tell that bitch to keep it up, yeah, yeah

Miguel Gets Sensual On “Funeral”

Miguel is certainly not an R&B artist who shys away from writing sultry, NSFW lyrics. His track “Funeral,” which comes off of new EP Art Dealer Chic 4, is no exception. The song was originally released in 2019 as a single following Miguel’s Spanish EP Te Lo Dije, but its inclusion is vital to the lo-fi electronic vibe of Art Dealer Chic 4. The song is very bass-heavy and sees Miguel talking about “slaying,” someone’s daughter, sending his “regards to the mother and father.”

Alongside Art Dealer Chic 4, Miguel has also released the other three EP installments to streaming services this week. According to a statement Miguel gave to Pitchfork, I’ve been doing a lot of work to consider and refine my beliefs in the last few years. Inevitably, this brought me back to Art Dealer Chic as ADC is more or less a moniker for active mindset curation; choosing the thoughts, emotions, and actions that reflect my truest self instead of letting what I’ve experienced or what is expected of me dictate my choices.”

Hopefully, we’ll see an upcoming album from Miguel soon following the politically-charged 2017 release War & Leisure. Until then, check out the track and the official music video below.

Quotable Lyrics
I wanna get you so high (High)
‘Til you feel it in your mental (Mental)
Do you feel me in your mental? (Mental)
I’m fucking drilling in your dental (Woah oh)

IDK Takes On Pharrell’s “Frontin'” For His Latest Cover

Rap music often gets “covered” by other artists but they don’t necessarily fall under hip-hop. It seems that IDK is changing that narrative through his own efforts. Between collaborating with groups like Spillage Village and sharing his own original records, the rapper’s takes on records like Brent Faiyaz’ “Gravity” ft. Tyler, The Creator and transforms it into something of his own. He’s also done the same with songs like “Back In Blood.”

This week, the rapper took on a classic Pharrell record for his latest cover. Flexing his falsetto delivery, IDK shares his own take on Skateboard P’s 2003 debut single “Frontin'” ft. Jay-Z. IDK enlists a live orchestra to bring his rendition of the record to life and it doesn’t disappoint.

Check out IDK’s cover of “Frontin” below.

Pooh Shiesty Co-Signs BigKayBeezy On “Walk Down”

BigKayBeezy is just getting started. The Chicago rapper has been making music since 2019, but his career kicked off nearly a year ago when he released the music video for his single “Bookbag.” The video received more than 6 million views and he was able to later release a remix of the song with Polo G, “Bookbag 2.0,” which garnered more than 16 million streams on Spotify. Pooh Sheisty is the latest co-signer of BigKayBeezy on “Walk Down,” which has the two hard-hitting rappers applying the pressure.

Pooh Sheisty and BigKayBeezy aren’t afraid to fight on “Walk Down,” rapping, “I know he finished, don’t go check, I got bullets you can’t survive.” 21-year-old Memphis, Tennessee rapper Pooh Sheisty shot up to fame in 2020 as well with “Back In Blood,” but his rise has been much quicker than BigKayBeezy. Collaborations with Lil Durk, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, and Gucci Mane have quickly catapulted the rapper into the spotlight, so this new track with BigKayBeezy is definitely not one to miss.

Check out the new collaborative track below.

Quotable Lyrics

I’m gettin’ rich, I feel like Roddy

Lil Eazzyy & Bizzy Banks Collide On “Hunnid Or Better”

Chicago’s Lil Eazzyy is certainly revving up for a massive year ahead. Following the success of his single, “Onna Come Up,” and its subsequent remix featuring G Herbo, Eazyy has maintained a stronghold on the Chicago drill scene as the next to blow. This week, he continued the campaign for his follow-up to 2020’s Underrated. His new project, Rookie Season is due out later this month and this week, he offered a brand new single off of the project.

Teaming up with Bizzy Banks, the pair offers an exhilarating banger, “Hunnid Or Better.” Eazzyy still brings the raw cut-throat energy of Chicago while the production takes notes from Brooklyn’s drill variation rather than Chicago’s, making Bizzy Banks feel right at home ont he track.

Rookie Of The Year drops on April 30th.

MO3 & Boosie Badazz Deliver A Gritty Street Tale On “Money Mya”

The South lost a real one last year. MO3 was on his way to the top of the rap game, having already collaborated alongside artists like Kevin Gates and Boosie Badazz who he teamed up with on Badazz MO3. Yesterday, the rapper’s posthumous album, Shottaz 4Eva arrived in its entirety. Stacked with 12 songs in total, Boosie Badazz makes two appearances on the tracklist on “By The River” and “Money Mya.” The latter is an excellent display of their chemistry on wax, along with gritty storytelling. MO3 details the Bonnie to his Clyde on “Money Mya;” a woman who assists him in carrying out robberies and vengeful acts on his enemies. Boosie only assists on the hook with his hypnotic blues-inflected melodies.

Check the song below.
