Isaiah Rashad & ScHoolboy Q Reconnect On “Runnin'”

This Friday, Isaiah Rashad will be delivering his upcoming album The House Is Burning, his first release since 2016’s The Sun’s Tirade. Now, only a few days out from the big drop, Rashad has come through to deliver a warm-up loosie featuring none other than his labelmate ScHoolboy Q. Having been originally previewed a few years back, the Kenny Beats-produced track proved to be an instant fan favorite.

While it didn’t make the album’s final tracklist, Rashad has decided to gift it upon us all the same. Instrumentally speaking, we’re looking at a laid-back west-coast vibe, with Rashad matching the beat’s energy with the opening verse. Q slides in to close this one out, his verse a welcome reminder of what the game has been missing; we can only hope that Q is next up once Rashad drops, as he’s been steadily working on his CrasH Talk follow-up for some time now.

Check out the full version of “Runnin’,” previously known as “Runnin’ From The Law,” and sound off if the song has lived up to the snippet after all this time.

Duckwrth Teams Up With Phabo For “4K”

LA’s own Duckwrth has officially come through with his new single “4K,” set to be included on his upcoming EP SG8*, due for release this fall. Speaking on the significance of his latest tune, Duckwrth revealed his inspiration behind “4K” in a press release. “Right when outside started opening up and everyone started flocking to Tulum and Hawaii, that’s what 4K is about,” he explains. “Trying to adjust and acclimate while still having fun.”

“It’s the paradox of the recurring line, ‘Was your pandemic popping?’” he continues. “4K is a movie, and that’s what the pandemic turned into when we were let loose.” As for the music, “4K” is appropriately pristine, featuring a lush blend of synthesizers, crisp drums, and triumphant brass. Fans of the experimentally-driven artist would be wise to check this one out, and look for more where that came from when Duckwrth drops off his new EP SG8* at some point in autumn.

Lupe Fiasco Tackles A Jadakiss & Styles P Classic On “Whale Wit”

Lupe Fiasco has been a busy man of late, having recently engaged in a spirited war-of-the-words with his former podcast co-host Royce Da 5’9″. For those who can appreciate a bit of good-old-fashioned lyrical jousting, look no further than our complete breakdown of their battle right here. Evidently, Lupe appears to have moved beyond a second round, keeping his blade sharp with a new freestyle.

Set to Alchemist’s classic instrumental — Jadakiss and Style P’s “We Gon Make It” — Lupe puts on an absolute clinic while making it look almost alarmingly easy. “I preface breakfast with prayer, end a dinner with death wish / wake up with no regrets, they sit us in for the seconds,” he raps, before letting out a Pusha-T esque grunt of disgust.

“Himalaya –never met a better climb,” he continues, setting up a crazy scheme. “Kick, Push” schooled them on the coast like Pepperdine.” Clearly, Lupe is gunning to rap, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him increasing the frequency of his new music while the bloodlust remains high.

Check out his latest freestyle now, and sound off if you’re eager for a new Lupe Fiasco album.

But what happens if me and Visuvious mood swap?
I’m Kubrick with two plots
If I let my role talk, you’ll still get your school rocked

Coi Leray has been in her bag all year and she’s not going to stop just because of some trolls hating on her. The song has been making a lot of noise as of late, prompting Coi Leray to jump in the studio and deliver a quick verse for the remix. Rio Da Yung OG & Peezy Team Up On “Ghetto Free”

Though Detroit is the biggest city in Michigan, Flint’s rap scene has been just as influential on the Midwest. We’ve seen a new generation out of Michigan emerge in the past two years and shift the sound of rap music entirely. It’s not uncommon to hear rappers out of the South or the West Coast dabble in similar icy production.

Peezy and Rio Da Yung OG have played a huge role in propelling the Michigan scene to mainstream consciousness. Every time they link up, it’s magic. This week, they returned with a brand new banger titled, “Ghetto Free” where they swap bars with each other and talk their rightful shit.

Safaree Samuels Blasts Critics On “Liar” Single

You may not have been expecting a new single from Safaree Samuels this Monday (July 26) evening, yet, here we are. The Love & Hip Hop star has been making headlines due to his divorce from Erica Mena. The two announced their split just weeks after revealing they were expecting Baby No. 2, and now that their newborn son is here, the pair is reportedly doing their best at co-parenting.

There have been allegations from both sides in reported court documents: Safaree allegedly stated that Erica destroyed some of his personal property while she accused her ex of presenting himself as an attentive father for social media. Safaree addresses his controversies in his new single “Liar,” a track where he speaks about being vilified in the media.

The reality television star also lets it be known that he isn’t concerned about the criticisms he receives from the public because he’s too busy taking care of his children and stacking his bank account. Stream “Liar” and let us know what you think about Safaree Samuels’s latest declarations.

Mickey Factz Fires Back At Royce Da 5’9″ On “Wraith”

A falling out among hip-hop titans occurred last week. Royce Da 5’9″ and Lupe Fiasco have been throwing shots at each other on wax, beginning with a series of diss tracks snippets posted to their respective Instagram pages last week. Of course, this makes for some great hip-hop beef between a few respected MCs, and hip-hop is in need of more rappers outbarring the next MC rather than screaming into the selfie camera on their iPhone.

Mickey Factz has since been dragged into the beef after Royce called him out during round one. Today, Factz unleashed his response to the Detroit rapper on his latest record, “Wraith.” Produced by AWSME J, Mickey Factz dives into the production, flexing his versatility, penmanship, and elite skillset as an MC.

Check the record out below.

Quotable Lyrics
Got ride of the pounds, had a literal weight plan
On Montgomery Ave. bad, I’m dealin’ that name brand

Headie One & J Ramms Connect For “Pound Signs Remix”

Headie One is still riding high off of the release of Edna, as well as its deluxe edition. However, it seems that a follow-up to the project might be in the pipeline. A recent appearance for a Daily Duppy freestyle with GRM Daily earlier this year rippled through the underground circuit. Then, he slid through with his latest single, “Pound Signs.” Originally released at the tail end of June, he followed it up with an official remix just a month later.

Last week, Headie One unveiled the “Pound Signs” remix alongside J Ramm. The two rappers tackle the glossy drill production detailing the extravagant lifestyle they’ve earned through their rap careers.

Soulja Boy Drops “BLATT” Ahead Of New Album

Soulja Boy is just days away from the release of his upcoming album, DRACO. The album has been in the works for quite some time and Draco’s been keeping the streets fed with new music in the past few months. In fact, it feels like every week, he’s unleashing a new banger to build the anticipation. We’ve received massive bangers like “She Make It Clap” and its remix with French Montana, as well as the meme-worthy “Rick N Morty” freestyle which now includes appearances from both Tory Lanez and Rich The Kid.

With the new album set to drop on Friday, the rapper emerged with another taste of what’s to come with his latest release, “Blatt.” It’s another belligerent banger added to his catalog that certainly plays up to the Big Draco moniker.
