Boldy James & Alchemist Drop “Turpentine/Steel Wool”

The Alchemist has been on one of the most impressive runs of any producer in the past few years. Numerous collaborative projects alongside hip-hop giants including the Grammy-nominated Alfredo, along with his own solo efforts, have brought some brilliant moments in the culture. His collaborative efforts with Boldy James, specifically, have created a cult-like following. The Price Of Tea In China may have not secured Boldy James a Grammy but it certainly reminded everyone of his brilliance on the mic.

This Friday, The Alchemist and Boldy James will be unleashing a brand new project titled, Bo Jackson. Having already released singles like “First 48 Freestyle” and “Drug Zone,” they slid through with a new offering before the album drops in its entirety with their new single, “Turpentine/Steel Wool.”

Check it out below.

Quotable Lyrics
Catch a body, no Randy Moss, I hike it off, hut one
These n***as ain’t cut from the cloth a n***a cut from
I run with real wolves, come from the real hood
These n***as ain’t cut from my cloth ’cause I’m steel wool

21 Savage, Rich Brian, Warren Hue, & Masiwei Snap On “Lazy Susan”

Marvel’s upcoming Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings is due out this September, and today we have the first official look at the upcoming soundtrack. “Lazy Susan,” which was originally included in the film’s trailer, has landed in full featuring the combined talents of 21 Savage, Rich Brian, Warren Hue, and Masawei of the Higher Brothers.

Featuring bars in both Mandarin and English, the hard-hitting track certainly makes for an interesting and engaging listen — if only for the blend of disparate styles. Despite being the lone rapper outside of the 88 Rising camp, 21 Savage sounds right at home at this one, working himself into a dexterous flow as the beat builds. “I go cuckoo for the dough though,” he raps, over dark pianos. “Jason mask, that’s my logo / He be whinin’, that’s my bro though / pass it off, Tony Romo.”

Overall, “Lazy Susan” is a strong posse cut that brings plenty of character to Shang-Chi, a promising sign that we’ll be looking at another strong soundtrack from the Marvel Universe. Check out “Lazy Susan” now, featuring 21 Savage, Rich Brian, Warren Hue, and Masawei.

Dame D.O.L.L.A Drops Off New Single “The Juice”

Shortly after taking home the gold medal for men’s basketball at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Dame D.O.L.L.A is back with the lead single of his upcoming album Different On Levels The Lord Allowed. “The Juice” features guest vocals from Jane Handcock, who floats over the warbling synth instrumental before Dame takes flight. Lyrically, Dolla proceeds to vent about the industry as he sees it, emphasizing the high-stakes that accompany a rap career.

“I ride my own wave, facts but I’m intrigued by a few,” he raps. “I see potential but I’m probably just deceived by the view / My heart’s sincere as it appears, man, I’m three hundred proof.” Overall, the track is somewhat of a slow-burner, which allows Dame to connect with his listeners on a more direct level; while it might not be quite so infectious as some of his previous drops, it certainly goes a long way where character development is concerned.

Check out “The Juice” now, and be sure to keep an eye out for Dame D.O.L.L.A’s upcoming album Different On Levels The Lord Allowed. Do you think he’s basketball’s best rapper, as he once declared himself to be?

Curren$y & Trauma Tone Unite For “Carry On”

Yesterday, Curren$y revealed — albeit briefly — that he’s sitting on a new album called Highest In Charge, produced in its entirety by Trauma Tone. Now, Spitta has come through to deliver the project’s lead single “Carry On,” and as expected, it’s another solid release from the game’s king of consistency.

Behind the boards, Tone blesses Curren$y with something a little outside his comfort zone, a hard-hitting beat driven by a groovy bassline and unrelenting hi-hats. Spitta delivers an intense performance by his standards, catching a variety of pockets as he lets fly a dexterous flow; lyrically, we’re looking at some of his favorite topics — but delivered with enough cleverness and charisma to keep things exciting. Overall, “Carry On” is an excellent start, and the upcoming collaborative drop from Spitta and Tone should bring plenty more where that came from when it eventually lands in full.

NoCap Returns With New Single “Vaccine”

Mobile, Alabama-based rapper NoCap has not been dealt an easy hand. The 22-year-old rapper, who is affiliated with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, has been in and out of jail for the last few years as he attempts to launch his superstar music career. Every time he seems to gain some traction though, things go south for him. Hopefully, his upcoming stretch can cement him as one of the most skilled storytellers in hip-hop.

The extremely talented young man was released from jail last month and his new music video for “Vaccine,” which was released just a couple of days ago, has already nearly reached a million views, speaking to how accessible NoCap’s music is. Despite not being uploaded to streaming services yet, “Vaccine” looks to be one of his recent hits, and it should be arriving more widely in a matter of time.

Check out the video below. What do you think?

Quotable Lyrics:

We give that n***a shots just like Johnson & Johnson
I rock Heron Preston ’cause n***a I’m a junky
I know it’s hard to tell but I was broke before, I promise
All that free time got ’em lying but I’m too busy being honest

EarthGang Pays Homage To Erykah Badu On New Single

It looks like Dreamville will be back on an impeccable run this year. Shortly after we received the latest album from J. Cole, The Off-Season, EarthGang appears to be the next ones from the label to drop. Earlier this year, they announced the title of their new album, Ghetto Gods. As anticipation rises, especially after dropping “Options (Remix)” with Wale and Coi Leray, they’ve keeping fans on the edge of their seats with another new single.

Today, EarthGang came through with a brand new drop paying homage to Erykah Badu. Aptly titled, “Erykah,” the song takes its inspiration from “Window Seat” and kicks off with a monologue detailing Erykah Badu’s impact.

Ghetto Gods is due out later this year. Keep your eyes peeled for an official release date and peep “Erykah” below.

Quotable Lyrics
I hate everyone the same, toxic and unashamed
My bitch ridin’ shotgun in her bonnet all day
I love this hoe, might as well throw these condoms away
I’m poetic, I can set this off with one conversation

Been advanced my whole life, momma called it impatient

Tory Lanez Fires Back At Cassidy On “‘When Its Dark (E-NFT) 8-10-21’ Freestyle”

Tory Lanez is on his way to release a full NFT album this week which some fans believe is a product of being blackballed following the incident with Megan Thee Stallion last summer. He dismissed this theory during his comeback journey these past few weeks. “SKAT” ft. DaBaby has combated the efforts of cancel culture and it feels like it’s still getting heavy spins in the club. Meanwhile, he hit up Funk Flex where he showcased his lyrical sword, though it didn’t go as planned. Cassidy, out of all people, called out Tory for his attempts to “pay homage” before unleashing his own diss track, “Perjury.”

Today, Tory fulfilled Royce Da 5’9″‘s wishes and officially offered a response to Cassidy on his new freestyle. The rapper tackles A$AP Rocky’s “Ghetto Symphony” record and breezes through the production with lavish flexes before putting the battle rapper on blast. “I leave Cas’ body in that casket his career is in,” raps Tory. “Ding, ding, ding, 15 minutes of fame is up/ Was in them hotels with R. Kelly, we should flame you up.”

We’ve yet to hear from Cassidy on the matter but we’ll keep you updated if he responds.

Quotable Lyrics
Old n***as talkin’, I ain’t hearin’ em, I put fear in ’em
I leave Cas’ body in that casket his career is in
My prime to your prime, dawg, it’s no comparison
What you gon’ compare? Some SMACK DVD appearances?

NLE Choppa Tackles Mobb Deep Classic On “Quiet Storm”

NLE Choppa has proven himself to be one of the game’s more interesting young voices, a narrative that gains further fuel through his brand new freestyle over Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm.” It’s become so assumed that new generation rappers have little to no interest in tackling so-called boom-bap production that Choppa gains points off the bat for even attempting. Even if we do have Big Tigger, Rapsody, and their new Revolt series Off-Top to thank for that.

For his part, Choppa fares quite nicely over Havoc’s ominous production. Though he lacks the urgency of Mobb Deep’s legendary pair, Choppa’s perspective is engaging enough to retain interest, even if it’s evident that he’s stepping outside of his comfort zone in the flow department. Still, it’s interesting enough to see a young artist dipping into the golden era, and he certainly delivers a few slick gangsta rap bars as he hits his stride.

Check out NLE Choppa’s “Quiet Storm” freestyle now, and sound off if you think he did Mobb Deep justice.

G Herbo & Millyz Connect On “Emotions”

Millyz has been on one hell of a run this year. The underground buzz he’s built off of projects like Saints & Sinners with Statik Selektah, and the Blanco series have put eyes on him. On top of that, he recently connected with Dave East for their joint project, Pablo & Blanco earlier this year. Suffice to say, 2021 is shaping up in his favor and he’s preparing for the release of the fourth installment in the Blanco  series.

With an August 20th release date set for the project, he unloaded another banger for the fans last week. Millyz and G Herbo connect on the ever-soulful cut, “Emotions” where dive into details of hardship and pain.

Check the latest single from Millyz out below and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Slimelife Shawty Is About His “Slatt Bizness” In New Single

Atlanta rapper Slimelife Shawty has been one of the hottest names on the underground rap scene for the last few years and he’s been steadily rising up, earning co-signs from Lil Baby, Young Thug, and many others. The OTF-affiliated artist has been having a strong year, racking up millions of views on his songs “Baby Boy” and “No Brakes” and last week, he returned with another hard hitter called “Slatt Bizness.”

The 22-year-old rapper balls out in Miami with his friends, rocking a diamond-encrusted OTF chain and interacting with locals for the ShotByWolf-directed video. The new song is filled to the brim with street wisdom and it speaks to Slimelife Shawty’s confidence, especially when he raps that he’s not trying to create a wave, he wants to build an entire ocean.
