Sean Paul and Ty Dolla $ign Bring Back Summer With “Only Fanz”

Sean Paul, one of Jamaica’s most successful and beloved singer/rapper’s, hasn’t taken any breaks during his over 25 year stint in the music industry. This grind doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon either, as Paul may have one of the most fun songs of the Summer this week with “Only Fanz” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

“Only Fanz” doesn’t deviate too far from the Sean Paul formula often distinguished by incredibly catchy hooks and bouncy acrobat-influenced instrumentals- a sound he popularized with tracks like “Temperature”. While the track doesn’t feature any wild experimentation or breathtaking performances, it finds success in its simplicity and overall pleasant vibe.

Ty Dolla $ign’s feature stands out on the track as well and sees the singer’s long-awaited return to a more tropical and beach sound. Thankfully, Dolla $ign avoids overshadowing Sean Paul’s performance and instead chooses to compliment it with a short refrain.

Perhaps a danceable groove like “Only Fanz” is just what we need as Summer dwindles into its final weeks and responsibility looms on the horizon.

Flipp Dinero Flexes Up On “Play My Part”

It’s been hard for 25-year-old New York rapper Flipp Dinero to replicate his breakout success in 2019 with tracks like “Leave Me Alone” and “How I Move” featuring Lil Baby, though not without trying. The rapper has released singles and new collaborations consistently throughout 2020 and 2021, all to varying degrees of success, though nothing has come close to the popularity of his 2019 hits. However, “Play My Part,” the rapper’s first release since May, could turn the tide for Flipp Dinero in 2021 and put him back on everyone’s playlist.

Flipp Dinero’s signature raspy voice and drawn-out melodies are an immediate stand-out on the track, backed by a driving guitar beat. Flipp Dinero moves through his vocal range in the first verse and chorus as he flexes his money and vows to never switch up on those who got him to where he is. Apparently, Flipp Dinero is happy just where he is in life- stacking up one and playing his part in. the industry and on the street.

“Play My Part” dropped with an accompanying music video.

“I asked [my fans], ‘Do you guys want the album or not?’ And, 99 percent of the response was, ‘Yes, drop that now. We need vibes, we need Colores.’ I knew it was time to give back and forget about competition and drop the music,” he expressed. “When you do things with your heart, they end up being amazing.”

Smooky MarGielaa Hops On The Rockstar Wave With “WokRock”

Just a few years ago, Smooky MarGielaa made a name for himself as a teenager thanks to a co-sign from none other than A$AP Rocky. After appearing on the second Cozy Tapes project, MarGielaa continued to drop singles that showed off just how good he is with melodic tones. In 2021, MarGielaa has changed up his sound a bit as now, he is going for some rockstar aesthetics. On his latest track “WokRock,” Smooky is able to find his pocket in the rock lane with one of his most menacing bangers to date.

Throughout this track, we get a dark guitar line that sounds like it came from a System Of A Down track. From there, MarGielaa’s flow is commanding all while more distorted guitar soloing is done in the background. The beat has this slow burn to it and you can’t help but get hyped up while listening.

D Smoke Makes Aggressive Return With “Shame On You”

California rapper D Smoke has been capitalizing off of his “Best Rap Album” Grammy nomination in 2020 for the better part of a year now, using the newfound success to establish new collaborations in the industry and expand his musical horizons. With around 15 years under his belt in the rap game, D Smoke’s isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with his particular sound, but instead find a balance between lyrical depth and high energy like some of his contemporaries. This style manifests perfectly in his new release, “Shame On You.”

Backed by a simple beat that mixes dark piano sounds with a classic drum pattern, D Smoke truly sets himself apart from the competition with constant flow changes and stand-out lyrics. The hook, which finds D Smoke talking down on his haters while flexing and emphasizing his work ethic, is immediately catchy and almost manifests as an anthem. Every verse seems different as the rapper’s floes become more and more eccentric.
