IDK Joins Sad Night Dynamite On “Psychedelic Views”

It’s only been a matter of months since UK duo Sad Night Dynamite shared their excellent self-titled debut project, though they still have more music in the stash. SND is set to hit the road this fall and today, they unveiled a brand new single alongside IDK titled, “Psychedelic Views.” Bringing together their surrealist, moody soundscapes with IDK’s vivid lyricism, SND and IDK’s chemistry breed a trippy audible experience.

“During the first lockdown, we fled London and set up camp in a disused pub near the village where we grew up. It’s safe to say we were not liked by the locals – they were one step away from coming for us with pitchforks, and you can imagine how well it went down when we stuck a Black and Trans Lives Matter sign in the window,” SND’s Archie and Josh said. “Then a rat died under the floorboards and in a weird way it made us delirious. ‘Psychedelic Views’ is the result – we were dreaming of another hotel, far away, somewhere in the sun – which is where the song is set.”

Quotable Lyrics
Look up, can you see the stars?
Look ahead, you could see a star
You be lucky if you see tomorrow
But I’m lucky I done seen it all

Gunna Finally Releases “9 TIMES OUTTA 10”

Ever since the release of Wunna, Gunna has continued to flood the streets with bangers. Many of them have been loose singles while others have been contributions to the YSL camp. However, in the year and some change since Gunna’s second studio album, he’s continues to expand on his sound, and fans have been eager to hear his next body of work.

It seems like the wait might not be too far away. On Wednesday, he returned with a brand new release titled, “9 TIMES OUTTA 10” alongside Taurus. The single finds Gunna weaving through the moody production with lavish flexes while detailing the resilience that’s led him to win over and over again.

The song’s official release came after it was heavily teased online. Fans hoped that it would land on the deluxe edition of Wunna but that never happened.

Quotable Lyrics
Nine out of my ten friends rockin’ them a Rollie
Fat carat on my ear, it’s hard to go unnoticed
No rosa gold, just all white got me feeling holy
Big dude, he had that soft white hoe and know he sold it

Sheff G Locks In With A Boogie & Sleepy Hallow On “Run It Up”

Sheff G is currently incarcerated, though his name stays alive in the rap game during his absence. The rapper was taken in on a felony gun charge last month and was expected to have another court hearing today (Aug. 18th). In the midst of his legal situation, the rapper came through with some more heat before the summer comes to an end. This time, he enlists A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Sleepy Hallow for “Run It Up.” Soft guitar strings and lush vocal samples clear the way for a more melodic offering that perfectly combines the styles of all three rappers.

Sheff G previously released his track, “On Go” with Polo G and “Start Some Shyt.” It looks like a new project could be underway soon.

Quotable Lyrics
Seen mine, if she friendly
I told her it’s okay, we got nines, we got Bentleys
We got 9s in our Bentley
Had a knife in my back when I wrote my first song
Put a knife to your face like a dollar and fifty

The Vibes From The Weeknd & Drake’s First Collaboration Are Immortal

When artists’ breakout projects hit the 10-year milestone, they have a lot to celebrate, and considering that all three of The Weeknd’s breakout mixtapes arrived within months of each other, the Canadian superstar will be celebrating all year-long. Today, on August 18, Thursday, the Weeknd’s second project of 2011, turns 10 years old, so it’s only right that we revisit Abel’s classic mixtape.

Following the universal acclaim of House of Balloons just a few months prior, The Weeknd doubled down on his game-changing, alternative R&B sound and descended deeper into his drug and party-fueled world. Unlike House of BalloonsThursday even had a guest feature, coming from no one other than Drake

With “The Zone,” the OVOXO bridge was built, and the two Canadian artists’ first collaboration has aged exceptionally well. From the spacey instrumental to the intense sense of horror in The Weeknd’s voice to the all-time great Drake feature, there’s a lot to love about “The Zone.” Since both The Weeknd and Drake are currently preparing some of the biggest projects of their career, there’s no better time to revisit their roots on The Weeknd’s harrowing second mixtape.

Do you remember where you were on August 18, 2011, when you noticed that The Weeknd had droped Thursday? What was your favorite song from the nine-track project? And where does Thursday rank in regards to its predecessor, House of Balloons, and its successor, Echoes of Silence?

Quotable Lyrics

Whoa, all these broken hearts on that pole
Man, if pole dancing’s an art, you know how many fuckin’ artists I know?
Got some new bills in the mail, got some big favors I owe
Got some good things ahead of me when these bad bitches let go
Well girl let’s go, walk your broken heart through that door
Sit your sexy ass on that couch
Wipe that lipstick off of your mouth
I take it slow

TwoTiime Holds It Down On “Did A Lot”

Ottawa rapper TwoTiime is gearing up for his moment to shine. From the release of his first single, “Hood Cry” and “Keep It Real,” which has since reached the 1M milestone on YouTube, he’s branched out with a slew of equally promising records that have fans on the edge of their seats for his debut project. On Friday, he came through with a brand new single titled, “Did A Lot.” The rapper takes it back to his stomping grounds of Ritchie Street and the realities he encountered daily growing up in that area.

“This record allowed me to reach back and reconnect with where I came from and where I’m going,” TwoTiime said. “‘Did A Lot’ is a salute to my hood and a reflection of the fact that I am simply just a product of my environment and my voice is just an instrument of the streets. There are things I can speak on, but I’d rather tell the story through my music.”

Quotable Lyrics
Got n***as in the cage, got n***as in the grave
They took my brother Metro, and the shit ain’t been the same
Took the anger into lyrics, and I fill it with my pain
I swear I’m ’bout to blow, I can feel it in my veins

G-Eazy & Kossisko Team Up On “Running Wild (Tumblr Girls 2)”

Coming off of the release of 2020’s Everything’s Strange Here, G-Eazy came into 2021 on a high note with a slew of bangers. He teamed up with Chris Brown and Mark Morrison on “Provide” and worked alongside Louisville’s rising star EST Gee for “At Will.” His new album is currently underway and it appears that it’ll be an accurate depiction of the growth in his career. Today, he shared a sequel to These Things Happen highlight, “Tumblr Girls.” Titled “Running Wild (Tumblr Girls 2),” he enlists Kossisko to handle hook duties on the track.

“making songs that actually feel like sequels to songs on the first TTH was so essential to me in the process of this album,” he tweeted on Tuesday. “Finding a way to directly reference songs or distinct themes / elements from the first album, in a way that still showed evolution and growth in a forward way…”

Quotable Lyrics
Penthouse at the Modrion, all her model friends came

Travis Scott’s “Drugs You Should Try It” Remains One Of His Best Songs 7 Years Later

On the seven-year anniversary of Travis Scott’s project Days Before Rodeo, which followed up his debut mixtape Owl Pharaoh, “Drugs You Should Try It” remains one of the best songs that the superstar rapper has ever released.

Despite the song not being readily available on streaming services, fans are able to listen to the track via unofficial videos on YouTube and elsewhere. From the lyrical content, which deals with drug use, love, and more, to the beat, which is chilled and laidback, this was one of Travis’ star-making moments, truly showing the world that he could become a problem in the music industry. After Days Before Rodeo dropped, things started happening for the Houston artist, allowing him to morph into the present version of himself.

From the masterful use of distortion to the reversed vocals in the chorus, this is one of Travis’ most ambitious songs, and it’s also one of his best.

The song may never see an official release because of sample clearances, but it was revealed that Travis was working on a sequel to the song with producer FKI 1st back in 2018. There haven’t been any updates on that in a while, but maybe we can expect it on Utopia?

Revisit “Drugs You Should Try It” below and let us know what you think about it, as well as Days Before Rodeo, seven years later.

Quotable Lyrics:

We up all night, from dawn to dusk it’s always poppin’
I fell in love, fell outta love, we both had options

I played the drums, she rolled the drugs
I rocked the club, we both throw up
We was the band you never heard before

You got that tat above your crack
And on your cat, you be right back
Your momma never know

Rod Wave Dishes Out The Feels With “Time Heals”

Next week, Rod Wave will embark on a 36-date tour across North America, but before brings his pain on the road for the SoulFly Tour, the Florida rapper is getting ready to drop SoulFly Deluxe this week. Before he releases the extended version of his recent chart-topping album, however, Rod Wave has shared a new single and music video to hold fans over until Friday.

Titled “Time Heals,” Rod Wave’s latest release continues the Pray 4 Love artist‘s foray into his gloomy, emotional, and heartbroken brand of rap. Throughout the track, he laments on having several women around him to choose from, but his past relationships have left him with trust issues and an unwillingness to get too comfortable around them. Thus, a “young, wild, and mad broken-hearted” Rod Wave confesses in the song’s hook, “Don’t need love, I need me time.”

Check out Rod Wave’s music video “Time Heals” below, and let us know in the comments if you think Rod Wave’s 2021 run is still going strong. Will you be tuning in for the deluxe version of SoulFly or seeing him live when the SoulFly Tour kicks off on August 27th?

Quotable Lyrics

I had gave you all my love and ain’t get none in return
I kept dancin’ with the devil, can’t be mad I got burned
No, I won’t cry ’bout it, I can’t cry ’bout it
Heal my pain, I pull up in a new wide-body
With big cuz and he gone off them narcotics
Poisonous love is the only drug in my body

Stefflon Don & Ms. Banks Team Up On New Single “Dip”

The British superstars’ infectious single fuses dancehall, hip-hop, UK Drill, and Arabian sounds creating an end-of-summer dance track. This diverse mixture of sounds and tones is what makes “Dip” a hit. Not to mention, in the video Stefflon Don and Ms. Banks show off their intricate sexy dance skills and give viewers a one-on-one tutorial on what it looks like to “dip” and “shake that sh*t”. Stefflon Don took to Instagram to hint at a Dip dance challenge (#DIPchallenge). Choreographed by Kash Powell, the moves match the sonic influences of the track well. After only a few days, the Wowa directed video has garnered more than 2 million views on YouTube.

Ms. Banks, one of east London’s hottest female rappers, celebrated this win on Instagram announcing that her price, rightfully so, just went up.

It’s been quite some time since Stefflon Don released an album. Her 2018 release Secure was met with favorable reviews and included collaborations with Future, Sean Paul, and DJ Khaled just to name a few. Since then, she has worked with XXXTentacion and the legendary Mariah Carey. If “Dip” is a preview of what Don has to offer, we can predict her next full-length project will be full of genre-bending jams.

Quotable Lyrics:

All the baddies feeling all my songs
Talking my shit, you know what I’m on
Big Banks with the Big Don
When I touch it, can’t do nothin’ wrong
Name ring bells, no intercom
Body banging, busting out the thong
