Kirko Bangz’s “PTSD” Is A Solemn Reflection On His Pain

In 2011, Kirko Bangz had many people turning up to his single “Drank In My Cup”. A decade later he’s still releasing new music, but his latest track has a more serious and solemn tone than his earlier party hits.

In “PTSD”, Bangz speaks on learning how to move on from his past, and beginning to use the pain that he’s endured as the fuel for his future and personal evolution. “Whatever u doing in life no matter what you’ve been thru you gotta keep pushing,” the 32-year-old captioned his latest Instagram post. “Don’t ever give up activate your troubles and make it double. GOD WILLING.”

After rapidly rising to success ten years ago, Bangz found himself falling from grace after his first album faced multiple delays. He continued to make music over the coming years, but nothing quite resonated with audiences the way his biggest single had. In 2020, the rapper announced the tragic passing of his 4-year-old son. In December of the same year, he would release “Away”, shedding light on the incident.

Back in February he released his first album in years, Now That U Here. Pair that with his latest release, and it looks like Bangz is on track to send his career into another upward spiral.

I didn’t even get to say good-bye mama

Young Thug’s “Floyd Mayweather” Was A Six-Minute Trap Epic

In the opening track of Young Thug’s high-spirited debut album So Much Fun, the eclectic Atlanta artist rapped, “Had to wear the dress ’cause I had a stick.” And unless you were just now tuning into Young Thug’s frequency, you already knew what he was referencing: the iconic cover of his 2016 mixtape Jeffery, in which the towering rapper sported a kimono-style dress designed by Italian designer Alessandro Trincone.

That tape followed Thug’s acclaimed Slime Season mixtape series, and although fans were patiently awaiting his highly anticipated debut album — which at the time was still tentatively titled Hy!£UN35 (HiTunes) — Young Thug dropped off an experimental nine-track project (10 including his classic “Pick Up The Phone” collab with Travis Scott) instead. And today, Jeffery celebrates its five-year anniversary.

The mixtape featured fan-favorite tracks like “Wyclef Jean,” “Guwop,” and “Kanye West,” but of all the memorable moments on Jeffery, the tape’s second track, “Floyd Mayweather,” remains a highlight. The woozy cut features Gunna, Gucci Mane, and Travis Scott, and it goes on for six minutes straight. Still, despite its repetitive nature, the laid-back cut is a trap epic of sorts, and it remains a gem from one of Young Thug’s most peculiar projects to date.

Stream “Floyd Mayweather” below and let us know who you think had the hardest verse. Also, let us know which track from Jeffery is your favorite, five years later.

Ray Vaughn Is Rich In Spirit, Yet Hungrier Than Ever On “Not Allowed”

Some people say that they’ve made it when they achieve fame or earn a lot of money, but according to TDE’s new signee Ray Vaughn, teaming up with one of the music industry’s most critically acclaimed labels was what did it for him. “MOMMA I MADE IT ! Imma TOP DAWG now,” the Long Beach artist said on Wednesday when officially announcing that he had signed to TDE, but the music that accompanied his announcement was even more intriguing.

For his first official move with TDE, Ray Vaughn dropped the brief, three-track EP Peer Pressure, and from the opening track, the rising rapper’s infectious charisma immediately pulls you in.

The way in which Ray Vaughn delivers the opening lines of “Not Allowed” is akin to how Meek Mill approached the first half of “Dreams & Nightmares (Intro).” The Long Beach artist raps with an insatiable hunger while dropping witty bars about TDE and ultrasounds, and when the beat finally comes in, he absolutely erupts with energy. Coupled with a refrain like “I’m rich in spirit ain’t no way I’m gon’ die broke,” Ray Vaughn’s first statement as a TDE artist is a promising one.

Give “Not Allowed” a listen below, and if you’re feeling the newest TDE signee’s sound, check out the rest of Ray Vaughn’s Peer Pressure EP here.

Stunna Gambino Impresses With New “Demons” Remix Featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

Stunna Gambino has been rising up all year following the release of his standout single “Demons,” and he’s officially remixed the record with some help from New York’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

With a melodic sound similar to Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, and a few others, Stunna Gambino has become a rising star to watch from New York, earning strong co-signs from The Kid LAROI, Rihanna, Rowdy Rebel, and more. With his music continuing to connect with the masses, Stunna Gambino has come through with the remix to “Demons,” linking up with A Boogie.

Considering they’re both strongest when they flex their melody magic, it’s not a surprise that these two rappers worked so well together. Hopefully, we see more team-ups in the future between Stunna Gambino and A Boogie.

Listen to the new remix below and let us know what you think.

Kodak Black Drops Off New Track “Aug 25th”

Kodak Black’s music release schedule isn’t exactly the most conventional, and the Florida rapper is no stranger to dropping off singles in the middle of the week. Yesterday, Kodak came through to commemorate the occasion with “Aug. 25th,” granting a glimpse into his mental state the moment the song kicks off.

“Wash this perc down with this Ace Of Spades,” he mutters, preparing for a little bit of emotional catharsis. Speaking directly to the mother of his child, Kodak reflects on their relationship, offering his perspective on what sounds like a complicated dynamic. His emotional vulnerability is on full display as he paints pictures of regret and frustration. “I didn’t even get to rub your belly once,” he raps. “You kept the baby from me for the whole nine / sometimes I sit back and wonder if we gon’ beef forever.” Considering his parting words, it seems like this one is a two-way street.

Check out Kodak Black’s new single “August 25th” now, and sound off if you think he should carry on with this energy on his next project.

DDG Drops Off His Latest Single “If I Go Broke”

Just a few days ago, DDG sent Twitter in a frenzy when he shared his two cents on being financially unstable. “If u broke, it’s 100% your fault. Making money is easier than ever these days. You just lazy asf & too comfortable,” the YouTuber-turned-rapper stated. It seems like his latest single doubles down on this notion. The rapper dropped off a new single this morning titled, “If I Go Broke” where he details the hypotheticals on if he were to lose all of his wealth. The rapper details his hustle mentality to get to the bag by any means necessary.

DDG released his last project, Die 4 Respect alongside OG Parker earlier this year. Keep your eyes peeled for more music from the rapper and check his new single below.

Camino Of 88GLAM Shares Solo Track “OATH”

It’s been over a year since 88GLAM released their last project, New Mania. Serving as their first post-XO project, they picked up where they left off on 88GLAM2 and attempted to maintain the momentum. They dropped a few singles since including “Urgent Messages” and “East To West” with 6ixbuzz, along with “Heaven Can Wait.”

Both 88CAMINO and Derek Wise began as solo artists before they joined forces, though it feels like it’s been a while since we’ve received individual efforts from either of them. This week, Camino slid through with his first solo track “OATH.” The moody production is equipped with thumping bass and hypnotic flutes as Camino drifts in and out of melodies detailing his hedonistic lifestyle.

Peep the record below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
