GRIP Absolutely Snaps On “Momma Told Me!”

Last Friday, Atlanta lyricist GRIP delivered his Shady Records debut I Died For This!?, a project that features appearances from Eminem, Royce Da 5’9″, and more. For those newcomers who dove into the album following his Shady deal, it quickly became evident that GRIP is a beast when it comes to the bars — and given its early placement on the sequence, it’s likely that “Momma Told Me!” drove the point home with enthusiasm.

After warming up in the opening verse, GRIP proceeds to absolutely snap in the second, unleashing a barrage of clever bars over a futuristic banger by TU! and Beat Butcha. “Profit four Gs, then shop for gold teeth, never had a pops, you cannot control me,” he raps, locking into a whirlwind flow scheme. “Ni*gas take shots and get cropped, Adobe.” It’s really no wonder that Em saw such potential in GRIP, and it’s all too easy to imagine him beaming with pride upon hearing this one on the studio monitors.

Kanye West, Playboi Carti, & Fivio Foreign Spazz Out On “Off The Grid”

Kanye West finally released DONDA yesterday morning and fans couldn’t be any happier. The rollout for the album was a turbulent one and there were some fans who were convinced that it would never come out. Now, we finally have the 27-track album and there are some incredible songs to sink your teeth into. One of those tracks is “Off The Grid” which is a banger that features the likes of Playboi Carti and Fivio Foreign.

The track begins with a chant from Kanye West who delivers fast refrains that sound rushed but not in a bad way. From there, a dope drum breakdown leads us into a spirited verse from Playboi Carti who flexes about his tattoos and his clothes. The real highlight of the song, however, is the second half when the drill 808s come in and we get a fantastic effort from Fivio Foreign. As many fans have pointed out, this is the greatest verse of his career and it’s impossible not to like what he does here. From there, Kanye comes back into the track and spits a plethora of bars that complement what Fivio did just bars prior.

If this track proves anything, it’s that Kanye’s still got it, and that he is able to blend artists together like no one else.

Don’t try to test me, I keep it clean, but it can get messy
I talk to God everyday, that’s my bestie
They playin’ soccer in my backyard, I think I see Messi
And this money could never neglect me

Money Man Keeps It G On “Pay The Price”

On any given day, Money Man can come through with some new heat. It’s often the case, even after releasing projects like State Of Emergency. His hustle is truly unmatched and it shows on each record. His consistency has helped him build a strong and dedicated fanbase that are always seeking new music.

This week, he returned with his latest single, “Pay The Price” where he reflects on the risk and rewards of the streets. “If I don’t make it home tonight, make sure my kids straight,” he raps over acoustic strings and thumping bass. The rapper explores anxieties and volatility that comes with the streets and how that affects aspects of his life, like relationships and family.

Lil Yachty Revs Up On “TUNDE”

It seems like there’ll be a never-ending stream of new music from Lil Yachty this fall. The rapper is fresh off of releasing Birthday Mix 6 which he shared earlier this week, and now, he’s back with his latest banger, “Tunde.” The rapper grapples electrifying, high-energy production with autotune-laden flows with braggadocious bars. The record might be a loosie but there’s no doubt that it’ll likely set it off at every single upcoming show he has scheduled.

The release of his new track comes hours after his appearance alongside Rooga on Kanye West’s “Ok ok” off of DONDA. Initially debuted at the second Atlanta listening party, Yachty certainly won over a few haters with his performance on the record.

Belly & Nav Team Up On “Requiem”

Belly took a bit of a break from the rap game for a few years. The Canadian rapper revealed in an emotional post that he had been working through some personal issues but thankfully, he capped off the note with the announcement of new music on the way. In the past few months, he’s unveiled a slew of singles that led to the arrival of See You Next Wednesday. The rapper’s new album boasts appearances from  The Weeknd, Nas, Young Thug, and others but, he also came through with a moody banger alongside Nav. The two take inspiration from Requiem For A Dream for their song, “Requiem” which appears to also includes additional vocals from The Weeknd.

Lil Muk Samples “When I See U” On New Track “See Me”

Riding Philadelphia artist Lil Muk has been making a name for himself thanks to some emotionally honest tracks that speak about street life and the pitfalls that lifestyle can lead to. Overall, Muk has proven to be a solid artist who can spit bars and sing melodies, which is the type of versatility you need to stay relevant in today’s landscape. This past week, Muk came through with his latest effort “See Me,” which features a sample of Fantasia’s “When I See U.”

Earlier this year, Foolio used this song as a diss towards Yungeen Ace, although with Muk’s song, he looks to take a more positive approach. Throughout the song, Muk sings about the things he has been through and the struggles he pushed through in order to become the man he is today. It’s a powerful track that will serve as the perfect introduction to the artist if you’re not familiar with his work.
